Papa Meowth AU: Humans With Pokemon Powers
So obviously we already know that in canon there are people who have the ability to use Pokemon moves-heck, Ash is one of them. Well in the Papa Meowth AU (as well as other Pokemon stories I come up with) I’m expanding it to include all the different types.
Fighting and Normal- Aura Manipulators, with the Aura Guardians as the most well known group associated with the ability. While it’s fallen into obscurity, almost everyone has the potential to use at least a little aura since it’s literally life force, which is why someone can get hit by a hyper beam and only get thrown back instead of vaporized. It’s also the most versatile of the bunch, since if you know what you’re doing you can modify the properties of the projected Aura and learn moves from other Types.
Psychic- Psychics, obviously. In modern day it’s the most widespread and well-known out of all of them.
Ghost- Witches. It’s more-or-less the only one that can’t be used directly by humans, since they’re still alive. Instead, they utilize potions and rituals that produce various effects. It’s mainly centered around the idea of sacrifice, namely the sacrifice of materials, time or effort in the case of the more ethically sound methods, though there are...other paths.
Dark and Poison- Ninja, though these days it’s extremely rare to encounter one that can pull off actual moves instead of just conventional Ninjutsu.
Dragon- Dragon Tamers/Riders. Like with Ninjas not many modern tamers or riders can pull off moves on their own, but there are quite a few who can understand Dragon Types, either Empathically or through straight-up translation.
Grass- Druids and Acolytes of Celibi. The latter are also able to learn time manipulation, though usually only clairvoyance and reading the past of an area or object.
Ground, Rock and Steel- Earthshapers, which were wiped out almost entirely by the King of Pokelantis during his attempts to control Ho-oh and take over the world. When they were still around the majority of them tended to specialize in one or two of the relevant types, but the most powerful could use all three.
Fire- If there was ever a specific group for it, it’s been lost to history. Currently anyone with an affinity for fire is either focused on a specific species (like Laramie Ranch and the Charific Valley) or absorbed into the Dragon clans.
Fairy- Mages. A bit like Witches, but since they’re not using magic based on death they can actually use it directly, which makes things get...Weird.
Water and Ice- There’s never been any specific group, mainly just sailors who have more sea in their blood than they think, hikers who can go higher and longer than normal, and Gym Leaders who are just a bit too in their element. It’s a very subtle sort of power.
Electric, Bug and Flying. The ones I’ve got nothing for. I would assume that there are people who can use these types of moves but I have no idea what kind of groups there’d be for them.
Shadow- Just like Pokemon, powered humans can have their energy corrupted by pain and brainwashing, and it ain’t pretty.
#pokemon#pokemon anime#pokemon au#concept#superpowers#speculation#i subscribe to the idea that celebi's time powers come from its grass typing and not its psychic typing#if anyones got ideas for the last three i'm all ears#allister is an exception to humans not being able to directly use ghost type moves#and opal is most definitely a mage#there is a family in hoen that's unknowingly descended from earthshapers that survived#but not the family you'd think

(requested by anonymous “Lurker”) Mudrock/Fem!Doc
“Hmm...Mudrock, can you hear me?” The Doctor, alone in her office and bored out of her mind, asked a small clay figure on her desk. “If you can, and have some time to spare, could you come to my office?”
The stone doll nodded slightly, which set her at ease; she reclined in her chair until the Sarkaz entered her office. “Hello, Doctor. You asked for me?”
“I did. How long can you stay? There’s another hour left on my shift, and I don’t have any work that I can do until some of our Logistics teams get back.”
“I have an hour at least.” The Sarkaz stood against the wall. “Although I don’t think I have a full hour’s worth of conversation.”
Her boss shrugged. “That’s alright. Just having you around is enough, honestly.”
“Is that right?...It’s strange, having a former enemy treat me so hospitably,” the golem-keeper admitted.
“I didn’t realize you thought of me that way still,” the Doctor replied. “Some of the other Operators engaged you in combat, true, but you and I have never been opposed on anything as far as I know, at least openly.”
Mudrock cocked her head, though there wasn’t much change from an outside perspective with her helmet still on. “That’s true, I suppose. Even so...How do you think of me? As another Operator?”
“Does the phrase ‘another woman of culture’ mean anything to you?” The room was steadily heating up, for some reason.
“Not by itself, no.” What did that mean? Everyone had a culture of some kind, didn’t they? “What does it mean to you?”
Damn, well she had to explain it now. “Well, I’m sure we have different reasons for it, but both of us wear masks and hoods even at home, and it...I know it’s kind of a tenuous connection, but I feel like it’s still something that brings us closer together, you know?”
“I see...Do you sleep in your uniform? It looks light enough.”
“Guilty as charged,” she openly admitted. “Some of our Operators have tried to find out what I look like under it without my permission before, to the point it’s a security risk if I don’t. Besides, this jacket means...a lot. I don’t know everything it means, but it’s palpable, you know?”
The Sarkaz blinked, another expression not expressed by her outerwear. “‘I completely understand, Doctor - protection, maintaining an image for those you lead, comfort, privacy...A mask can do so much, so easily.”
“It’s a good thing the jacket’s nice and breathable, otherwise I’d have to ask them to find me something lighter. Actually, if I remember the medical reports correctly, your suit is filled with rocks and stuff to keep it upright, right? Is that comfortable?” The last time someone had tried something similar with the Doctor - burying her up to her neck in sand at Siesta - it’d taken weeks to get the last few grains out, and it’d been terrible for what skin it’d managed to contact.
“Oh, I’m quite comfortable.” The earthshaper smiled to herself. “The soil is my friend, after all. I take off my suit when I bathe or swim more for their sake than mine.”
That tracked to the Doctor. “You don’t feel hot under it? Even I overheat sometimes in just this.” Especially when Mudrock was in the room.
“On some of my missions to hotter places, I suppose I have, but the cold nights of Kazdel and Leithania were much worse than any heat Sargon could bear down on me.” It wasn’t amazingly comfortable, but she’d rather be hot than cold.
“Gotcha...Sorry, I know I’ve been talking about how great this stuff is, but I need to cool off a bit.”
Mudrock nodded. “It’s alright, Doctor. I can take my leave-”
“No! Sorry, I mean...I’m not asking you to go.” She flipped off her hood and decoupled the mask from her face. “I trust you not to show the others without my permission.”
“Oh.” The Sarkaz hadn’t expected that.
For her part, the Doctor certainly felt exposed. “Hmm...I thought this would help more. I guess I need to take the jacket off, too...”
“Have you seen me without my suit before, Doctor?” Considering there were medical reports in her files, and she’d taken off her suit for her examinations, it seemed more than likely. “I know you’ve never asked directly.”
“Um, if I have, I don’t remember.” The records didn’t have pictures.
The earthshaper took a deep breath before nodding - one of the expressions the helmet could convey - as she reached for the back of her helmet and lifted it off her head from the sides. “I trust you, too.”
“Damn.” She cringed at herself. “Sorry, that slipped out! It’s a compliment, I mean, but it didn’t come out right, and-”
“It’s alright, Doctor. Seeing you without your mask, I um...” Mudrock had at least managed not to exclaim aloud, but sheeeesh. No wonder so many Operators wanted to see under that mask.
That buoyed her boss’s flagging self-image enough to end the cringing - physically, at least. “Really? I always thought that with the scars and the studs from the machine Kal’tsit put me in, people’d be more off put, but...you really think I’m not ugly with them?”
“Everyone bears the marks of their suffering, Doctor.” The Sarkaz made sure the door behind her was locked. “I, um, could show you mine? We’re not going into battle, after all, at least for the time being.”
“Oh, you don’t have to do that, Mudrock...if you want to, though-” She stopped herself before she directly vocalized the thoughts she was having on accident again.
That didn’t prevent the message from getting across, but it was at least a little subtler. The earthshaper slowly but surely extricated herself from her suit, using her control of the stones and soil against her skin as a second set of arms to both safely lift the various components off and reach some places she couldn’t. She watched the Doctor struggle to find somewhere to look and assured them, “You don’t have to avert your eyes.”
“Sorry,” she mumbled, then more loudly, “If HR walked in on this, they might think something else was happening, and there’d be all kinds of questions.”
“You’re a physician of Rhodes Island, and I’m an Operator and patient of Rhodes Island. There’s not a reason I can think of that’d prevent you from...examining me.” Now that she said it, Mudrock wondered if that was on the table.
The Doctor had already been thinking along those lines; watching the Sarkaz remove her outerwear hadn’t slowed those thoughts down at all, and seeing her without the suit as she stepped barefoot out of it onto the tiled floor? “There’s still about half an hour left in my shift, but if the clock turns over and we just so happen to be- the door is locked, right?”
“Locked,” the earthshaper confirmed as a Colossus emerged from the soil once contained by the suit, “and guarded.”
“Whoa...Alright, then, um, if this is what we both want?”
The clay figure on her desk smiled as Mudrock did. “I do. Seeing your face, I understand my companions’ reaction at the examination site...Almost too well, honestly.”
“I get that.” She stood up from her chair and looked around the office. “Uh, the couch, I guess?”
“One thing first.” The Sarkaz approached her slowly, as if trying to make sure she wouldn’t spook her.
The Doctor took the time to figure out what angle she could approach from; the crystals on the right side of her stomach were annoying, but she had a workaround. “One thing?”
“It’s been a long time since I’ve hugged someone.” Mudrock stopped when she reached hugging range. “The earth will readily embrace me, but other people rarely have.”
“...Fuck it,” she muttered as she pressed herself as close as physically possible to the earthshaper, doing her best impression of the stone that filled the now-empty suit. If this was how she got Infected, it’d be worth it.
Fortunately for both of them, it didn’t take much soil to prevent that from happening.
#arknights#arknights fic#mudrock (arknights)#knocking this out before i go get groceries#and like the creators of arknights observed in mudrock's bio#damn she cute#there's a reason her swimsuit skin is weapons-grade sheesh#and it's not just because she has Nakirium face (i can't unsee it now)

Chapter 6
As the snows of the Crystalline Gala melted away Auriga started planting a garden. With both Ildan and Morgawr coming into their own as capable fighters she could trust them to go out gathering on their own. This left her with plenty of time to start work on various projects that she never before had the time for, like finally building a proper garden.
Auriga hummed to herself as she worked. Already small green shoots grew up in neat rows, Auriga’s magic ensuring that each seed she planted sprouted. She looked up from her work as she heard the now familiar grinding sound the cat golem made when it moved. It had stood up in its patch of sunlight and was looking towards the sky, its tail twitching back and forth.
Auriga followed its gaze upward and spotted Ildan and Morgawr. She started to turn back to her work but then whipped her head back up and stared. Both were flying much faster than normal and Morgawr was carrying something that looked very much like another dragon. Quickly she cleared away her gardening supplies making as large and clear a landing zone as she could.
Ildan landed first and Auriga was surprised to see a pair of wailing and terrified hatchlings in his arms. A moment later Morgawr came to a rough landing and that surprise was replaced with shock as she saw the bloodied ridgeback he carried.
The next couple hours were a whirl of frantic activity. Morgawr worked tirelessly to keep his patient alive. Auriga and Ildan lent what aid they could to his endeavor after calming and putting the hatchlings to sleep. During this time Ildan told her what happened and the tale froze the blood in her veins.
A shade beast. Auriga began to tremble. A shade beast so close to her home. She gripped her scarred shoulder, images of that night flooding back to her.
“Auri? Auri?” Ildan’s voice was filled with worry, “Auriga, its gone. We killed it. It’s ok, it’s safe.”
Auriga came back to the present as Ildan gently touched her on unscarred shoulder. “I’m alright,” She shook her head to chase away the last of the memories. “Some old and unpleasant memories resurfaced when I heard about your fight.” She patted his arm reassuringly. It didn’t seem to work as Ildan kept glancing at her with a worried look on his face for the rest of the day.
~~~~~~~~~~~
The next day the ridgeback, Illegra, was conscious enough to tell her side of the story. She was apprenticed to an Earthshaper in a small roving clan of crafters. The attack had come as they were taking down their camp and preparing to move on. In the chaos no one was able to mount a proper defense. Illegra barely had enough time to grab the two hatchlings and flee.
Later Auriga and Ildan flew above the forest towards the location of the camp to check for other survivors. As they reached the location it became evident that there were no other survivors. Auriga counted the bodies from the air and the total matched the number that Illegra gave her.
“Should we do something?” Ildan sounded sick.
“We can’t.” Auriga turned in the air but not towards home, “But I know where we can find someone who can.”
It was another hour before they reached the closest crossroads and trading post. One of the merchants who kept permanent shop there would know how to get in touch with a member of the Bone Court. When they got to the crossroads it turned out that one of the Court was already there.
A guardian named Berath listened to their tale. “Do not worry, I can lay their bodies to rest.” Her head cocked to one side as if listening to an unseen voice. “And do not worry for my safety, the spirits say the beasts are long gone. There is nothing to fear from them.” There was a certain weight to her words, she wasn’t just speaking about herself being safe from the beasts but Auriga as well.
“Thank you.” A great weight of fear lifted from Auriga. She trusted the guardian’s words, those of the Bone Court were said to have strange powers and if this one said that spirits told her that she and Auriga would be safe Auriga was going to believe it.
Spyro 2 Reignited Impressions Part The End
So I’ve completely 100%-ed Spyro 2 Reignited now. You’re probably wanting the final part of my impressions and.. honestly, the main reason I haven’t posted one is there’s not a lot to say. From Fracture Hills on, every level is pretty much perfect. But I guess I can scrape together some thoughts. Positives: -The Fauns in Fracture Hills now speak in Scottish accents like the males, instead of American valley-girl accents. They’re a little hit-and-miss but I like the consistency. -I ended up liking Magma Cone a lot more in this version. I think it’s mainly due to the NPCs looking less creepy, their accents being better, and the cutscene at the end looking more like accidental manslaughter than murder. (...That makes sense in context, trust me) Also, the Crystal Popcorn mission is exactly how I remember it. It’s tough, but still enjoyable. -Gulp is just as tough as he was originally, actually more so in this version. I’m still working on his no damage Skill Point. His cannons are surprisingly accurate. This is in positives because Gulp No Damage was ALWAYS one of the hardest things in the original game, so I’m glad it still is. The fight is perfectly fine if you aren’t concerned about taking hits. -The lemurs in Mystic Marsh throw Wumpa Fruit, that’s amazing. The trade quest in the same world works exactly how I remember, which is good. -Cloud Temples’ music seems a bit more memorable than the original version. I like how the wizards kiss their wands on getting them back. -The electrified water in Robitica Farms and Metropolis looks amazing. -Metropolis’ indoor forcefield walls still look cool. The Ox is still a pain though.
Neutral: -There’s a Trophy for defeating all the Earthshapers in Fracture Hills. This includes the ones from Hunter’s quest. Which requires coming back with the headbash. You know how everyone hated the Alchemist quest for not only being annoying, but for needing to be done TWICE if you don’t plan things out right? Well here, you need to remember to go back for the other Earthshapers after Hunter’s quest is done, or you need to play the Alchemist escort mission THREE times! Which is this neutral and not negative? It’s in-character for the Alchemist escort mission to be a troll. -I used to dread Agent Zero’s mission in Cloud Temples as a kid. Here, I did it on the first try. I’m not sure how to feel about this. On the one hand, I’m a little bummed it wasn’t difficult. On the other, Agent Zero’s vision range was WAY too unforgiving in the original, so toning it down was much-needed. Negative: -Um... why to the Robotical Farms NPCs have such vibrating legs in this version? -Speaking of Robotica Farms, it’s a lot grassier than it used to be. I’ll get into that later. -The trolls in the bell tower mission of Cloud Temples can glitch out sometimes. -Phase 3 of the Ripto fight can be a bit weird. The camera doesn’t always focus on him (though was it like that in the original too?) and once he gets low on health he starts flying behind the castle, where you can’t get to. I find it requires a different approach to the original: flying ahead of him and shooting fireballs into his path, rather than trying to lead your shots from behind him. At one point I thought he’d bugged out and wasn’t hittable, but he was. -I miss the fly-by of all the levels in the credits. It looks like all 3 games use the same credits here, which... well, these credits work for the first game but not so much for the others. Would’ve liked to have seen art of Spyro hanging out with Elora, Hunter and the world inhabitants, instead of the Artisans dragons. Speaking of credits, Travis Willingham and Darin DePaul were in this game?! I can’t find any info online on who they voice, but I’m guessing dragons in the first game. If anyone knows, I’d appreciate the info. So overall, I think this was a very solid remake. It has a few issues, ironically the majority of them are in the early levels. But it’s still as good as the original was, and a lot of the characters are much more memorable due to better voice acting and designs. Tom Kenny is still amazing as Spyro despite it being so many years, but I solidly prefer everyone else’s new VAs. Especially Hunter, I never liked Spyro 2 Hunter but Robbie Daymond made his character closer to how he was in Spyro 3. All the flaws of 2 are still here though, namely Winter Tundra still feels really rushed (it’s telling that the levels don’t even have Skill Points besides the obligatory Speedway time and boss no-hit run). Also, and I’m sure other people have had this issue, the grass. It hides green gems a bit TOO well. Normally it’s not too bad, but it’s really noticeable in levels like Robotica Farms, which was mostly brown in the original but is now extremely grassy. Now it’s on to 3 and I’m kind of nervous. Unlike 2, I have a LOT of nostalgia for 3, it’s my favourite of the trilogy. So... I’m far more likely to be nitpicky about it, especially seeing as they needed to delay the remake to polish it. Also, Sanzaru Games apparently helped with 3, and they’ve had a spotty reputation as of late. Still really looking forward to starting 3, can’t wait to get to Enchanted Towers’ skate park...
Agents Of The Old Wolf (Spies, Cutthroats, ship captains, and more... if John needs something done that can't go through offical channels he utilizes these individuals)
Ghouls (The intelligence arm of the Mad Wolves, the Ghouls are too numerous to count and are scattered across thousands of worlds where they take up falsified identities, becoming just another face in the crowd to the point where, several times, a Ghoul was promoted to a high up PDF position around the time of a Rebellion or other such incident, which allowed for the Wolves to gain entrance easily.)
The Forgotten (The Beggar's, the whores, the broken bodies that came home from the Guard, the thieves and pickpockets, anyone who never had a chance in life are recruited by the Wolves and are given a purpose again. Commonly issued makeshift weapons they can carry openly, like a cane flechette gun or a bundle of shivs.)
Repost, not reblog! Tag 6 muns you would like to get to know better when done!
Name: Jessey DIlley Nickname: Tink, Jess Age: 22 Faceclaim: Um...me? Pronouns: she, her Height: 5′3″ Birthday: August 29th, 1995 Aesthetics: Fall, oversized sweatshirts and a box of pizza. Winged liner that can stab a man with weird ass lipsticks.
Last song you listened to: A cover of “Breaking the Habit” by Johnathan Young
Favorite muse(s) you’ve written: I honestly love Leona, but I think that’s because she’s the muse I’ve put the most work into.
What inspired you to take on your current muse (that you are posting this on): I had been working on a Leona cosplay for almost a year and when I went up to Sakuracon this year, I met @definitely-not-altair and sort of..stalked their blog until I decided to give rping here on tumblr a try. I at first, wanted to do Nami, because I play her so often, but I’d put so much work into Leona that I thought “why the hell not?” and went with her.
What are your favorite aspects of your current muse: How protective and loyal she is. I value that irl, and I guess it just kind of transferred to this sunny paladin.
What’s your biggest inspiration when it comes to writing: I don’t really have one. I just of just word vomit and hope it comes out right.
Favorite types of threads: I actually enjoy writing angst and darker threads about as much as I like writing fluffy and smut threads. I’m a giant marshmallow irl so doing the darker threads is a nice change of pace.
Biggest struggle in regards to your current muse: I’m a lazy forgetful person who tends to accidentally drop threads ><
magicaldreaming:
“You do realize that material wealth is ultimately meaningless and that amassing it for the sake of doing so is a trivial distraction from the coming oblivion that awaits us all at the end of everything.”
Millia would hold her hand out: mixing bowls, measuring spoons and cups, and other utensils would fly to her and arrange themselves accordingly.
“I’m an immortal, so I am more aware of the coming end than any of these transient lives could ever be. Such knowledge would shatter lesser beings. It would certainly shake your fragile ego, Mistress.” Millia would get her jabs in where she could. “Unless you believe you can carry the burden of my crown. Now let’s see…” She would start listing off the ingredients she would need. Lots of milk, lots of butter, and enough sugar to ruin even a dragon’s teeth.
“Immortal...You make it sound like such a lofty thing. Do you know how long I’ve lived, girl? I may die one day, but it hardly matters. Amassing wealth, knowing women. Taking and razing and destroying my enemies. It’s part of the experience. The onus of a dragon’s being. You make bark about your ‘unknowable, unfathomable’ truths all you like. I’m hardly ignorant to the facts. Only that the details of whatever keeps you vampires shackled to the end without crossing is what alludes me.”
“Were it not for this flagrant mockery of a body, I would be a king in my own right. An earthshaper, a being that transcends man’s grip on the world. But alas. I am a creature not even my mother could love. So I cling to my ‘distractions’ until death comes for me. And even she has been a absent hole in my life.”
A Dragon Sized Adventure Crash's Epilogue
Crash’s Epilogue
*Crash and the gang’s platform ride leads them to BONUS Terrarium. It was apparent that this is where Eggman, Cortex and others had put any gold, treasures, money, and anything else they stole. The place even had a golden shine that permeated the room, probably due to the extreme amount of ring piles.*
Spyro was astonished by the amount of treasure. “Wow…”
Cynder was in astonishment too. “Some dragons in our world have impressive hordes, but this… this would make them jealous.”
Shadow: “Too bad all of it’s stolen, huh?”
Spyro nods. “Yeah, but still…”
Sonic: “*Ahem*, maybe we should find those final gems so we can stop Eggman?”
*Spyro and Cynder shook themselves to their senses.*
Spyro: “Yeah.” *The purple hero takes the lead.*
Level 101: EGG Rocket Zone
*ENTRY REQUIREMENT: 20 Relics*
Crates: 141
Time Trial
Sapphire: 10:00.00
Gold: 9:55.00
Platinum: 9:50.00
Sludges to Save: 5
Helping Partner: Amy
Badniks: Astronaut Lab Assistant Pawns: Don’t let their stupid look fool you. They may look clumsy in those astronaut suits, but they rarely miss with their shots. I wonder if Spyro’s Wing Shield could help… Shellcracker: GO, GO, GADGET CLAW! :P Chainspike: These annoying spiky stars have been upgraded to rarely miss their target. I’d attack them as soon as you’d see them. Clucker: *Bwak, Bwak!* *Pshew!* Watch those flying eggs!
Mutants: Sludge: A Chameleon + Boar hybrid but with a little twist. It’s a strange gelatinous creature created by Cortex that mimics anyone who tries to jack it (thanks to the Chameleon DNA). So, if Crash jacks it, it will look part bandicoot, and if Spyro jacks it, it will be part dragon. (You get the idea.) It can also copy some of the abilities of the jacker, so it acts like a second, more durable skin.
*Spyro and Amy find themselves on a launch pad.*
Spyro looks around. “Huh, where are we…”
Amy: “All that is noticeable here is Eggman’s rocket here in the middle of the ocean…” *She suddenly remembers where they are and pulls on Spyro.* “Come on! We got to hurry and get on that rocket!”
Spyro: “Alright…”
Spyro and Amy have went back in time to an old zone in Eggman’s history, the Egg Rocket Zone. Both of them must make their way up the rocket sections before the one below breaks off after 5 minutes. Of course, unlike before, Eggman has placed more dangerous badniks than last time that are here to strain you. Think you can ride up the whole rocket into space so Amy can make it to Cosmic Angel Zone?
Achievement Unlocked: Eggman’s Rocket Ride
-----
Level 102: Lost Forest
*ENTRY REQUIREMENT: 40 Relics*
Crates: 197
Time Trial
Sapphire: 3:50.00
Gold: 3:45.00
Platinum: 3:40.00
Sludges to Save: 5
Helping Partner: Knuckles
Badniks: Egg Flappers: It must be nice to jet around, and shoot shots and bombs at you. Forestry Egg Pawns: Shields, guns, and flying axes, oh my! Watch for those golden Egg Pawns, as they’ll kill the whole group. Egg Hammers: Round and round it goes, where it stops? Probably on you.
*Knuckles and Spyro land in a strange jungle/forest…*
Spyro looks about. “I’m guessing this place is in your world too?”
Knuckles nods. “It’s a huge forest with equally huge flora that can rival Angel Island.”
Spyro: “Hmm. I think I’ve seen some big flora in my world too, but not like this…”
Knuckles: “And then you have the frogs around here too. They can bring healthy and deadly rain to grow and kill the flora. Come on, let’s get moving.”
It’s another back in time trip, but this time to Frog Forest and Lost Jungle. Hope you don’t mind getting rained on, since you’ll be seeing, *ahem* ‘FWOGGY!!’ *ahem*, all around. Walk up to the green ones and they’re drop a pleasant rain that will grow the vines, trees, and plants so you can get around the level. But watch for the black ones, as they will make rain fall that will kill those same vines, trees and plants, making you have to take a different route. Can you make it through before you fall into the swamp below?
Achievement Unlocked: In the Jungle...
-----
Level 103: Haunted Towers
*ENTRY REQUIREMENT: 60 Relics*
Crates: 174
Time Trial
Sapphire: 1:50.00
Gold: 1:45.00
Platinum: 1:40.00
Sludges to Save: 5
Helping Partner: Tails
Badniks: Weather Wizards: Blue-clad weather wizards that shoot a trio shot of blue lightning to zap you. Tin Soldiers: Don’t lose your head as these guys are just as willing to hit you with theirs. Some also mimic move to block you. Gnorc-bot-adeirs: Small gnorcs that throw grenades about. Knight Pawns: Running around with a big lance should be incredibly dangerous, but not for these pawns. CHARGE!!!
*Spyro and Tails land on a group of islands with a big castle.*
Tails: “Wow… what is this place?”
Spyro: “Well, it is part of the Dream Weavers world, where the dragons there handle the dreams of others… Some are special with that power.”
Tails smiles until he sees the nearby suit of armor that was laying on the ground. “What’s that?”
Spyro: “Well… they’re meant to protect the castle, but the lay like this if they are not needed.”
*A faint chuckling can be heard.*
Tails: “Huh?”
*A rain of green magic comes close to the suit of armor and it comes to life.*
Tails: “AHH!” *He jumps back as the suit almost squishes him with its helmet.*
Spyro: “It’s alright, Tails, it’s just the gnorcs animating them. They are not haunted… although this place does handle haunted dreams...:”
Tails regains composure. “Alright…”
Spyro: “We’ll destroy them, but we need the power of a fairy’s kiss. Makes out breath stronger to destroy metal like that...”
Spyro and Tails have went back to an early time in Spyro’s life, when he went after Gnasty Gnorc who imprisoned all the dragons in crystals. We’re visiting Haunted Towers, a ‘haunted’ castle. Gnorcs and Tin Soldiers line the halls, trying to block your path. I bet if you find a fairy, they’ll give you a nice smooch and make you strong enough to destroy those armors. Can you make it through without getting blocked in?
Achievement Unlocked: Knightly Whack-A-Mole
-----
Level 104: Haunted Tomb
*ENTRY REQUIREMENT: 80 Relics*
Crates: 163
Time Trial
Sapphire: 2:00.00
Gold: 1:55.00
Platinum: 1:50.00
Sludges to Save: 5
Helping Partner: Rouge
Badniks: Mummy Rhy-bots: These mummies are incredibly annoyed about you walking about and will whack you into submission with their canes. Worse yet, they come back infinitely from their bouncing sarcophaguses. I wonder how you can break them… Jackals: Armored dogs that will charge at you endlessly. Better give them a nice whack back.
Mutants: Mummy Earthshapers: Odd beings made of rock, wearing mummy bandages, that are difficult to defeat. They can only be destroyed by the balls of explosive rocks they throw at you. I bet their explosive rocks can break those sarcophaguses too.
*Spyro and Rouge find themselves in a strange tomb…*
Rouge: “Oh? A tomb?”
Spyro: “Yeah, a tomb in our ‘Forgotten Realms’. It’s the home of those blue dogs there.” *He points to one nearby, who walks up to them.*
Dan: “Ah, yet more travelers who want our loot.”
Rouge: “Ah! How does he know I’m a thief?!”
Spyro: “Shh! They don’t know that, i think they just assume everyone wants to loot them.”
Rouge: “Oh, good…” *She smile and winks and gives a ‘pweh!’ look.*
Dan: “Well, if you want our loot, you’re going to have to make it to my friend over there-” *He points at the dog on a too high ledge* “-but you’ll have to make it through our tomb first.” *He points at the door with a glyph on it.* “And then you’ll have to solve a riddle.”
Rouge: “What kind of riddle?”
Dan: “ ‘I am a vessel without hinges, lock or lid, yet within my wall, a golden treasure is hid. What am I?’ But please, don’t answer the riddle now… you have to save your breath for the deadly traps ahead...”
Spyro and Rouge have moved a little bit forward in time to a realm Spyro went to when he fought the Sorceress. It’s a dark Egyptian tomb with some dangerous rhy-bots about. And worse off is that rocks sometimes fall from the ceiling. AND you need to figure out the answer to their riddle. Can you solve the riddle of their tomb to escape?
Achievement Unlocked: Mummies!
-----
Level 105: Down the Drain
*ENTRY REQUIREMENT: 100 Relics*
Crates: 250
Time Trial
Sapphire: 2:50.00
Gold: 2:45.00
Platinum: 2:40.00
Sludges to Save: 5
Helping Partner: Crash
Badniks: Welder Lab Assistant Pawns: They carry mini flamethrowers to weld the ceiling stuff, but they will turn it on you if you pass by.
Robots: Scrubbing Bubbletron: They patrol a set area, cleaning. Defeatable by any means. Hover Spike-O-Tron: They fly about, trying to poke you with their spikes. Quite difficult to defeat indeed.
Mutants: Sewer Rats: Rats, with spikes on their sides, that chase after you. Jump on top of them to defeat them.
*Spyro and Crash find themselves in a sewer system...*
Spyro: “Ugh, never thought in my life that I would enter a sewer…”
Crash: “It’s just sewers made by Cortex in an attempt to hurt me. Not that he did very well…”
Spyro: “I suppose… are we to head through these then?”
Crash: “We must, if we want to get out of here...”
Spyro and Crash are visiting the dank sewers Crash had once went through to find power crystals. The sewer is filled with enemies, dangerous contraptions, and NITRO boxes (Who flushes NITRO boxes?) Can you avoid death in a sewer and escape?
Achievement Unlocked: Not Your Average Sewer
-----
Once you have all of the relics for the time trials, you might just find one last gem in the center of the treasure room. Grab it to finish your collection.
Next Time: All good things must come to an end, thanks to a Finale.
6 and 13?
Another page in the sketchbook || @ace-of-spades-ezreal
Warning: Complicated ass answers below. Tl;dr: “Don’t really have anything” and “Enjoy drawing for others b/c it motivates me to learn new things/get better in an organic way”
6. What’s your least favorite thing to draw?
I don’t really have anything that’s like… ‘hated’ to draw, exactly? I’m really not experienced enough to run into anything that’s led me to go, “No, I won’t draw that.” Often, it’s simply that I can’t draw that. NSFW, mecha, furry, hell even simple things like action poses. I’m a wee tyke when it comes to art in general.
If I had to say something that gives me the most grief, it’s probably still lifes? That’s what I’m working on mastering right now and it’s really, really difficult for me. But with everything, if I work on it, I’ll get good - and then it won’t be so bad anymore?
If it’s something that’s always going to bother me, it’s any time I’m trying to do something super unspecific. For instance, someone has said “something good” for art or “something positive” for my vocal work when I took requests, and it just felt very… blase and inconsiderate? I just said “nevermind, I’ll figure something out on my own.” That’ll probably always bug me. “Something good.”
13. Do you prefer to keep your art personal, or do you like drawing things for other people?
Goodness, I absolutely love to draw things for others. It’s the best way to keep me motivated and it’s really encouraging. I don’t like to share my art with my family or with others, but in this kind of space or for the specific people I do my work for, I love to share.
It’s that drive for validation that keeps me motivated. I think to myself that hey, if I do a good job on this one, the other person will be happy - and that’s how I’ve learned 90% of what I know in terms of media. I learn things because they’re good tools to produce content that makes people happy. And that’s why I started doing creative stuff at all (minus roleplaying), because I thought that art and imitations and stupid accents were all a great way to make people laugh and feel something and make them happy.
It’s a little sad, tbh, but I crave the validation I get from other people. Drawing things for them is one way I am often guaranteed to get a good response, but on the flipside, it’s absolutely crushing to be ignored - especially if it was someone’s request. I had an individual once say absolutely nothing. No like, no comment, no message, no anything after I had done their request. It had been super tough for me and I had spent a lot of time learning anatomy and redoing the piece multiple times until I was satisfied and proud of it, but I got radio silence back. When I approached them later, I found out that they had seen it, but they had simply declined to say anything at all. That was crushing, honestly, and so it’s the reason my answer comes out to this:
I like drawing things for other people, but I’m careful with who I draw for. And I’m careful to either remain unattached to pieces or only take a piece very seriously if I know that the recipient will respect that sincerity. In general, I keep most of my creative stuff, whatever it is, far away from my family. If I’m practicing, it’s just for me. If it’s a request (and I do do those in various forms), I pray I get some kind of response or acknowledgment (even just a like that you’ve seen it is perfect for me) - if I don’t get that, I get a little ticked off.
Personally, I think there’s a bit of numbness (maybe esp. on tumblr?) to people who are simply ‘not as good’ in terms of their work - whatever that may be. I have no misconceptions in thinking I’m any good at vocal work or art, but I feel like people forget that even really mediocre art still takes time and effort. It still deserves at least a modicum of respect - if I feel that I’m not getting that respect, that I, the person behind the screen, am not getting respect, that’s it. I won’t draw for you, I won’t roleplay with you, I won’t answer your asks, I won’t even give you the time of day if I can help it.
Otherwise, everything is totally good and I would love to draw if it’ll brighten your day. That’s part of why DNA Talon and Earthshaper often got a majority of my time and effort - because what I do for them usually generates a laugh or an uplifted mood. And that means everything to me. Seeing that is everything for me.
#ace of spades ezreal#phew that was a bit of a doozy#thanks for sending this in and sorry to bombard you with a wall of text#About Dummy#seriously though thanks for sending this in I appreciate it <3#ace-of-spades-ezreal#but yeah that attitude is what compels me to act how I do especially when other people put themselves out there#I think people forget how much courage that can honestly take? idk I'm rambling but it's not the best way to be#still have a lot of growing up to do#honestly I get ticked off if responses to asks aren't acknowledged at all#I will like a response and then unlike it 4 days later just to let the person know I saw what they did and noticed#you'll definitely see me in empty streams sometimes or cheering people on with anons that's just... idk can't help it
How about *winks* you do all of the questions *wink wink* allll of themm
| Get to know the Mun
¯\_(ツ)_/¯: do you have any tumblr friends? if so, who are they? – I have met quite a lot of cool people here on Tumblr! To be honest I didn’t think I would. I basically thought that I would be a loner here LOLI am sorry for spamming the ones that I mention all the time but:@superrisu @reiquai @syndra-the-dark-queen @logosminuspity @castdeath @gangoflegends @mercury-hammercannon @bruhchantite (winks) @nevrotoxic@shueren @meshy-mesh (just putting you two lovelies here) + a lot of people I have probably forgotten
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°): relationship status? – Taken!
ಠ_ಠ: what is your biggest pet peeve? – Don’t ever ever eat with me. I get so easily annoyed with bad table manners (i.e: chewing loudly, eating with your mouth open). I am a catastrophy.
(ಥ_ಥ): finish this: i hate it when… – People don’t respect other’s opinion. Please. Everyone has one. Respect is very important to me.
ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ: what is your favorite animal? – Buns!
(☞゚ヮ゚)☞ ☜(゚ヮ゚☜): who is someone you can tell everything to? – I get overly talkative when I am upset, so chances are that I will come and crush you under walls of texts. If you haven’t yet experienced this, then your time will come. I know I’ve vented to a few people on Tumblr before (and I love you guys so much for it)
(づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ: are you a hugger? – Depends on the person aha. I can’t really say.
(╯°□°)╯︵ ʞooqǝɔɐɟ: besides tumblr, do you have any other social media? – I do! I have Facebook. It stays mostly untouched though.
﴾͡๏̯͡๏﴿?: how old are you? – 20 //loud sobbing in the background
(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻: what are your thoughts on school? – This is one of the nope subjects I would advise you to stay far from. Unless you want me to start crushing you under my infamous paragraphs of text.
| (• ◡•)| (❍ᴥ❍ʋ): favorite tv show? -- I don’t really watch TV but I must say that I loved Korra! And Aang! I watch a lot of anime besides that.
(ง'̀-‘́)ง: are you okay? -- A bit tired, but yes, I can say that I am okay today uvu
(ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ* : ・゚✧: sexual orientation? -- Aaaah the big question. I used to call myself straight (as in 100% straight) but after coming to Tumblr and talking to a few people (//coughs @superrisu) I discovered that I am... er well I call it bent? //Slapped. To be honest, I have given this question a lot of thought, and there is no sure answer.
┬┴┬┴┤(・_├┬┴┬┴: are you a people person or a loner? -- I am very selfish in this sense. I am a people person. But get too affectionate towards me and I will walk away. I do give hugs sometimes.
ლ(ಠ益ಠლ): do you have any siblings? -- Oui!
ಠ╭╮ಠ: have you ever self harmed? -- No, I am much too scared to hurt myself aha. But if you ever ever feel like you want to do that to yourself, come and talk to me okay?
(づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ: have you ever been in love? -- Yes!
(☞゚∀゚)☞: would you rather be hugged by a bunny or kissed by a doe? -- Bunny!
(ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻: how do you let your anger out? -- I am a very angry person. And I usually solve it by listening to depressing songs and crying a bit. Oh and punching my fists through stuff.
ᕙ(⇀‸↼‶)ᕗ: are you active? -- As in sports? I am not as active as I used to be... Nor as active I wish to be.
ヾ(⌐■_■)ノ♪: what are your favorite band(s)/artist(s)? -- I have probably answered this question 1 000 times. But Zedd, Perfume, Akiko Shikata and many others? I never remember who I like to listen to aha.
(╯°□°)╯︵(\ .o.)\: who is your least favorite person? -- @reiquai //slapped No just kidding, I love my Butt³. Tbh I am not sure I have someone that I really dislike? Except maybe for a few teachers... Yes...
♥‿♥: tell us about your crush! -- Can I have two? Let’s say that I can :My bf : the cutest and most caring guy I have met yet. He is such a dork and I love him. Saddly for him, he gets the short straw, as he is going out with me. I can be a nasty person if I want to. I am apparently Tsun.Bae (???) : okay I have a very shallow crush on her because I basically just love her looks. She is beautiful and so fashionable (bonus points for being extra nice) and yes hello I have a crush on you. Okay no to be honest, I have a crush on her because she looks a lot like the characters that I would draw ...
◔̯◔: what time is it? -- 19H23! French time!
◕‿◕: what is your guilty pleasure? -- Chocolate. Please take it away from me.
◔ ⌣ ◔: are you a virgin? -- Well wouldn’t you like to know?
Munday questions from last week!Thank you to all of those that have asked but unfortunately, Bruh got all the questions@earthshaper @steel-fixes-all @castdeath @shorthammertime @reiquai @nevrotoxic
The Gosh Dang Blog Timeline of Misfortune and Yi Never Winning
Gee that’s a mouth full
//Hello hello, and welcome to this dumb post where I try and thread together all my various interactions over time. It’s kind of hard given the transitory state of the lore, but I will try my best. This should give anyone super new to my blog an idea of Yi’s life journey thus far, and maybe if I can be assed I will link to relevant drabbles or make a page out of this information.
CLE will be used to mark years in this instance whether or not it’s still canon, and the assumption currently is that the year is 27 CLE. I could use X years ago but it really doesn’t matter either way. Just note that Yi is currently headcanon’d to be around 41 years old (Yeah I aged him back down again because who even knows when and where and why he has his hextech), so extrapolate from that as you will.
This is also a WIP, but without further ado...
Lore Related timeline
Pre Entering the War Events
-15 CLE
Master Yi is born
-7 CLE
Yi begins learning Wuju
Some time after this but before 6 CLE
Yi receives the Seven Lenses of Insight from the Yordle scientist Heimerdinger (Pending some sort of information on Yi’s lenses to refute the previous old lore origin)
6 CLE
The Ionian Invasion begins, pending any reworks of the lore, but word is slow to reach the remote Wuju village.
7 CLE
Yi hears about the war, and in response takes most of the able Wuju men with him to fight.
Events After his War Participation
Late 12 CLE
Yi’s village is destroyed.
While the war persists in some form even today, this year marks the capture of Shon-Xan by Noxus.
Yi discovers his village days after its destruction, and subsequently enters isolation to train for his revenge.
21 CLE
After a broken leg is tended to by an Ionian apricot farmer, and he subsequently frames said farmer for the murder of a Noxian officer, Yi realises he is either going to be persecuted, or he is going to become a serial murderer if he remains in Shon-Xan.
Stows away on a boat, lays over at Bilgewater, then stows away on another boat and arrives at Piltover.
His refugee status is eventually confirmed, (thx headcanon heimerdinger) and he is free to roam Valoran.
Travels to the Great Barrier (and assumedly through Shuriman territorry?) Maybe meets Ezreal ( @essence-flux-primed ) some time around this time but idk.
Meets Wukong ( @monkey-king-sun ), and subsequently ends his time in isolation.
Blog Related Timeline This is where the lore ends and the depiction of Yi’s life as it appears on this blog begins
21 to 23 CLE
A period devoted to training Wukong (though not necessarily applicable to monkey-king-sun’s Wukong unless that gels with your headcanons fam) in Wuju and bonding with him like a parental figure.
23 CLE
Master Yi first starts drinking at a Lunar Revel celebration. Drinking is not a problem as of yet.
Yi encounters Yasuo ( @yasuo-the-unforgiven ) and a fight ensues. Master Yi is defeated. This weighs heavily on his soul even today, and ultimately causes him background misery for years to come.
Yi decides to head toward Demacian and Freljordian territories, a trip he knows will take him a good expanse of time.
24 CLE (AKA the year when I actually started RPing Master Yi but shit was still Old Lore)
Spends this year’s Lunar Revel alone in a Noxian occupied City with a cheap tavern room and a bottle of wine. Drinking becomes more of a problem. He stocks up on sub par wine before he leaves.
Does a lot of slow travelling about Valoran, supposedly meeting the likes of Shen ( @elegant-equilibrium ), Kennen (ionian-stom), Nidalee ( @silvestreaelurus ), Riven perhaps ( @exfury ), and many others for the first time.
Does some exploring of Freljordian lands and meets many during this time as well.
25 CLE
Maybe starts worrying about the fact he never sees Jinx ( @jinxite ) eat any food, as well as the fact she tends to just fire rockets in the air around him .
Takes a nasty fall from a mountain side and hallucinates his own undeath for the length of time he remains unconscious (Undead M!A). Drinking increases, though he vows to quit soon after he notices it to be a problem. This does not last long.
Arrives in Demacian territory sober and happens upon Sona ( @ladybuvelle ). They make a tea date, though Yi falls off the wagon again soon after with no intention of fulfilling their plans.
Event: Demacian Stupor begins with Yi travelling further and further into Demacian lands in order to supplement his growing taste for wine by performing odd jobs. Meets Quinn ( @demacianwings ) during his stint of homelessness in the country.
Just as his drinking reaches dangerous levels, Sona happens across Master Yi once again and takes him into her care. With Sona’s help he is able to shake the drink, and remains sober to this day. There’s also a profession of romantic interest somewhere in there
26 CLE
Continues to sober up within the Buvelle residence, and Event: Demacian Stupor ends.
When he feels able he starts travelling once again further away from her care, meeting the likes of the Geomancer Pit ( @earthshaper ) as well as many others (including even celestials and the concept of Death). Generally however, Yi takes this year as a time to focus back on his training regiment.
His focus is culminated near the end of the year in an attempted fast, and that is when the current Event: Of Screams and Silences begins...
27 CLE and beyond
At some point in time Yi returns to Piltover, where he witnesses a bout of the great Blind Boxer, Brandon Lee ( @theblindboxer )
Also at some point in time, assumedly when Yi returns to Ionia, Yi is summoned by letter to perform in some sort of traditional bout along side Akali ( @twindisciplines )
... And that is everything I can think of off the top of my head. Currently Master Yi is in Demacian custody to work out an arrow bolt through his body, but apart from that all is going well for him right now pfffft.
Again, consider this WIP. I just wanted to have a chance to @ everyone.
#100DaysofWriting: Day 3 (Part 1)
Day three! Character questions! Yes!
Oh man, I can talk about my OCs all day. Introducing Tez, the druid I love so much!
Name, alias: Tez, the Silver Lady, the eternal druid
Race: (clockwork, kinda, see below)
Age: 137
Gender and pronouns: while her people don’t use gender roles as we see and experience them, Tez is femme-presenting but ultimately genderless and uses she/her pronouns
Sexuality: clockwork don’t experience sexuality the way their organic neighbors do, but do form familial and romantic bonds and create “children” together, typically in polycules. Tez is probably demiromantic? I didn’t write her with a specific sexuality/romantic alignment in mind but she developed a bit without me looking and found a partner, but it took her a while to get there. So maybe demi, maybe potentially allo but slow about it?
Physical description: Tez is a 6′8″ humanoid clockwork woman with silvery metal skin that has a cool undertone/sheen to it and grey eyes. She is very human-like, compared to others of her race, with an artfully sculpted, expressive face. She has “scars” gouged out across the plates of her abdomen and upper thigh, leftovers from a violent altercation early in her life.
Class: Druid/Paladin (in this world, druids exemplify the classic druid class and also take on elements of clerics or paladins, depending on their particular temple’s teachings and focus or on the individual’s dedication to the elemental forces.)
Favorite tidbit: I have a scene where she wild-shapes into a bear and it’s glorious. Just imagine a bear made of metal, coming at you with razor sharp teeth and claws. She just... demolishes her enemies.
Day Three
What’s your character’s motivation? What motivates them to act like they do?
Tez
Tez is our primary protagonist. She is a member of a long-lived metal/clockwork race (which I've struggled to name a few times over, and they’re not truly clockwork, more analogue to androids than anything, but it’s hard for me to find the right words) that was introduced to this plane during a planar shift some hundreds of years before the story begins, and she is the only one of her people to have been "born" to this new world--at least, as far as anyone really knows. Tez grows up within the druidic enclave dedicated to the Earthshaper, estranged from the clockwork people since birth. Never fitting in with the clockwork people nor with her druid brethren, Tez has been hollowed out all her life by questions she can't answer alone: who is she, really? How did the unique circumstances of her birth coincide, and why did her father seemingly disappear that same night? Where does she fit in the world?
One of the many things compounding her alienation is the fact that Tez can access divine and primal magic, which sets her that much further apart from most of the clockwork diaspora, as their magic system does not seem to work outside their home plane. This is a direct boon of the Earthshaper, and so Tez sees her role as a druid more of a job than anything meaningful on a personal level; she gained the boon, now she pays for it. Accordingly, her role as a druid is something distant for her. People, plants, and animals all die around her, but she will outlive them all. Only she and Nature are constant, in her mind, and so she doesn’t often foster connections on a personal level with the world. Tez tends to keep to the more densely packed regions of the holy forests, rarely attending to villages and communities, and while she has made the occasional friend, she finds herself more comfortable in the presence of beasts than with sentient people.
She's slowly come to desire researching and trying to get to know the clockwork people through infrequent visits to their enclave in this new world. She has very conflicted feelings about clockwork society, and as far as she's concerned, they've made it plain that it's a mutual experience. Still, she yearns for some sort of understanding, some way to reconcile these identities or lack thereof within herself. She is fighting both her need to know and her fear of finding... nothing. Tez is most afraid of figuring out that she is ultimately insignificant, meaningless, because that would mean spending the rest of her very long life with the concrete knowledge of that fact--and who wouldn't be freaked out by that? Tez was left to the druids on the day she gained consciousness with nothing but a note from the father who has seemingly abandoned her, and since then has been wrestling with her sense of self and lack thereof.
But change does come. During an infrequent visit to the clockwork city, Tez discovers her father's hidden laboratory and a series of journals he'd kept as he had created her; that same night, she is asked to act as the city's ambassador to the world around them and ultimately aid the clockwork people in establishing themselves in the world. She agrees reluctantly, only swayed after she receives a vision from the Earthshaper, urging her to act. Tez soon gets swept into a tangled web of political intrigue, divine commandments, and treachery amongst gods and people alike.
As she pays more attention to people and the lives around her in her pursuit of her growing mission, Tez's goals become less self-centered and expand to include the world as an interconnected system. She learns to understand the spark of personhood she finds in her slowly growing array of allies, and for someone who has been set apart from others for most of her life, she comes to clutch at those sparks dearly. These connections prove to be vital to her growing and changing as a person, and it is through them that she finds her place in the world.
So, that's kinda a general and vague overview of Tez! We’ll learn about Julaa tomorrow!
Rite of the Clear Waters
vimeo
The objective shape of any symbol or rune is less important than the subjective meaning it has to a spellcaster. New mages rely strongly on runes and ornate glyphs to assign abstract concepts their own two-dimensional symbols. They must be familiar enough to be recognizable on a subconscious level, yet foreign enough to have a greater meaning unrestricted by language. There will never be a single standardized set of runes, but some schools, organizations and secret societies will collectively use the same sigils for spellcasting. The meaning of a symbol is reinforced in one's mind if others agree with it and use it themselves. Sometimes magic is best performed while meditating on an existing rune. In other cases, the act of drawing runes is best to direct the subconscious mind toward the same goal as the conscious, harmonizing the two by the primal act of motion. Hydromancers and water-shapers are especially adept at this method, as they can attune to their liquid element and shape it into glyphs to focus the mind deeper and draw out the compound's hidden power. This is much harder to do with clunkier substances like solid rock, leaving lesser earthshapers to quake like the ground they command before the awesome power of the Chad Hydromancer. Water magic has a powerful sway over human minds. Given that brains are mostly water, hydromancers can direct their own minds toward a sense of clarity befitting their transparent element. The Rite of the Clear Waters is one such practice, in which the participant alters their own brain in accordance with the runic symbols they shape from the water. The mind mimics the shifting tides with its own flow of ideas, pulling the train of thought off the rails and dragging it through unexplored territory. It may take several hours of exhausting physical and mental exertion, but as the mind comes closer to illumination and the realization of the ritual's goal, the pool will begin to glow. The real problem starts here for many mid-level hydromancers, as the realization that they're approaching epiphany and the resulting excitement will distract them from their trance. As the light begins to fade, they will be desperate to return to their meditative state, but it will be too late. Practice sessions may go on for hours with no encouraging result, but one cannot give up. The true growth is left unseen; their power lurks beneath the surface, ebbing some days and flowing others but always trending towards mastery.
Yaldev is a fantasy/sci-fi worldbuilding project based entirely on Beeple art. It is the story of a world in magical pandemonium, of the nation which rose to conquer it, of this empire’s inevitable collapse, and of the new world which emerged in its wake. The project has major themes about perspective, imperialism, nationalism, nature and the metaphysical battle of law against chaos. For all stories in order, check out the pinned post on the subreddit at r/Yaldev, or this album on the Facebook page!
[Rp-Story] Fel Storm
First Day of the Legion Invasions- He said it didn't matter if that hive fell. In her mind the fall of minor hives meant having to rebuild. Rebuilding took effort and manpower she was not willing to part with yet. Yet. Still rebuilding gave a chance to strengthen and fix what became brittle over use. And odd sense of duality with this thought pattern. The Earthshaper leaned out from the pillar she stood upon and fell. Her arms reached forward as if grabbing the ground before her. The ground rapidly approaching as she pulled her arms into her chest yanking sand, dirt, and rock at her form.
The momentary darkness gave way to twilight painted skies and stars trying to push their way out from behind clouds. She ascended rather than the continued fall towards the now darker sands of Silithus. The stone wings though heavy lifted her higher, it was still a majesty of its own to witness in her eyes. Having learned the motion studying the flesh and scaled kind, now flight was a feat she could do too. It was normal to be flanked by her ‘children’, drakes hatched by her watch when other broodmothers were left dead by their enemies.
Her eyes narrowed as the smell of fire filled her stone nostrils, and a sharp pain all but punched her in the gut. The Earthshaper hadn't felt that pain in a long time, too long as she saw the cliff ledges of Un'goro pass beneath her. Changing her glide she continued on towards the hives only spotting a few claiming smaller eggs for their raptors. An agreement and deal made with a local troll who made sure her hands gained profit for the use of the hive to hunt in. Regardless the hive was not the one on fire. She could still smell it, her vision obscured by the sandstorm that whipped the landscapes of Tanaris. The ache within still burned that old familiar sting, and the scent of fire still cut it’s way across the sandstorm. Civilizations burn. She commented within her own dark thoughts. Turning the stone bulk of a form towards Gadgetzan the Earthshaper took to a higher altitude for better vision. It wasn't the flames that caught her attention but the skies, the smoke and its tinted color, but mainly it was the otherworldly metals that formed the massive ship before her gaze. Fel as the source of the flames and smoke. Heating the stone around her, the former light wielder sent sharpen stones and descended quickly towards the earth. All that was left where the wings to slow her fall. She pegged demons out of the skies as she descended, until they swarmed ripping the stone from her wings. She fell and they did not attack, why bother when she would seemingly fall to her death.
The Earthshaper looked up at the sky and saw the swirls of clouds. She would not look at the ground the Gods would not accept this death today. Her eyes narrowed seeing a figure dart between the demons the bat like wings that would appear then disappear. She readied her blade then braced for her landing, aiming the great sword down upon the backside of a nearly oversized fel-guard. The beast howled out from the cleaving falling forward with the female elf standing on it’s bloody back. She saw the Horde and Alliance fighting and struggling against the invasion but she did not envy them. ‘This would bode ill if we lost here… though I am loathed to aid them…’ Turning she beheaded another smaller demon that ran up towards her. A slight head tilt as she did not recognize the beast, but she knew the shape of Draenei. Her dance would continue outside the City, she prefered it that way.
However that bat like figure from earlier was drawing slowly closer. Despite the nauseating smell of Fel in the air the Cultist kept her wits about her as she cut the heads off some of those annoying fel-hounds. What did slow her was that pang of burning pain from with inside of her. The dull ache found itself all but sharp and rage filled. ‘That creature? Was that the source?’ she wondered before the next spike of pain ravaged her form. Her howl of pain was drowned out by the demonic laughter from nearby. Shakingly she turned to see the demon she had believed was dead in Outland. In one hand an orb of Fel that was being used to reignite the embers that were left within her stomach, in the other a spear now aimed to finish her off. Pain or not she challenged the attempt at her life summoning the essence of the fallen Harbinger of the Old Gods. Her blade roared to life in Deathwing’s voice as magma spilled from its core to the end of the blade. She turned swift aiming to gut the monster within her gaze narrowly missing him as he forced another jolt of pain.
The demon cackled before feeling his own pain but from behind, it blinked for a moment confused at first but soon realised it could not leave anymore. Dropping the spear only allowed the Earthshaper to eviscerate his midsection allowing for blood and guts to pour forth. ‘See how you enjoy having your insides fucked with…’ she chuckled to herself before plunging the blade into the open wound letting the curse of her chosen power flow into the demon. He stepped forward causing her to back up or be crushed.
“.... This… was not what I expected… I w-....”
“No.” Came a colder voice from behind him, “There is no returning for you… ever.” A sickening crack was heard by those close enough as the demon went limp and fell over face first. A Demon Hunter was standing on his back, blades glowing and imbedded deep within his back. In her hand was a heart, the monster's’ heart as she squeezed the drops of blood from it taking in the droplets for herself. Using the back of her arm to clean her face, she looked towards Lymia them smiled eerily.
“You still live…”
“.... Do…. no… You died because of the Fel-Witch! I watched that creature take your life!” the Earthshaper spat angrily as if this was some sort of trick. She observed the Demon Hunter closely, this one was toned, riddled in the markings like the Betrayer had been, eyes covered. But the hair, the cheekbones, her lips, the voice was raspier but the inflections where there. “Astallia you died… how… why?”
“I was meant for more than the light… I was meant to be more than I am… I’m not weak and needing to be as protected… I can protect you better… I can protect everyone so much better…”
“NO!” She howled back at the words then snarled feeling the whispers rise up from the back of her mind with the doubts of who this creature was. Pushing those aside for a brief moment she raised her blade. “You are not her anymore… my lover wouldn’t have drank the blood of these monsters. She wouldn't’ have become a monster herself. She would have stayed with the light!” Clutching the blade in one hand she summoned stone and Elementium into a new drake to fight at her side.
It was clear there was a disappointed look on her face at this, “..... the lover I knew would have stayed as well, I don't’ need eyes to see how you’ve changed. I have work to do.” Her voice turned from delighted and happy to one that was cold and distant as she jumped back far enough as well as high enough to summon wings and glide towards the next battle.
Lymia stood there Drake at her side still tightening her grip on the blade handle. She heard the giggling of Succubi and the hissing of Fel-hounds then turned. ‘This was their fault.’ she thought before charging in to cut them down. Her last thoughts were sent rumbling like an earthquake across the connection of the forgotten with her rage.
“ Legion... “ she slowly calmed soon after that moment. “Is a threat in Tanaris. It must not spread to the Hives there. Stop them. Then join the Horde as our agents. Do not tell them of your affiliation do not be caught. This is your test.”
