books that wouldve been in my top 9 this yr if not for something near the end (spoilers obv. but out of these id only highly recommend the 1st one i think)

bangkok wakes to rain - absolutely just a personal dislike but the near future scifi part ruined it for me

the woman in the window - as before mentioned, the killer was a sociopath all along! hes a sociopath so hes evil! a compassionate depiction of mental illness unless you have one that makes you evil

the majesties - another mental illness twist, im not entirely sure but it looks like the character who commited mass murder had an alter who was good. i dont. think. she had childhood trauma that would have caused did which is what makes me unsure but we all know authors dont care to research mental illnesses they want to demonize (which is so baffling too i thought authors loved researching every little thing for their books. but i guess not when they already have their idea of how something works. idk. i dont understand it at all.). it kinda has me like ? was that problematic ???? is it supposed to be a clever little twist that she doesnt have a murder alter, SHES the murderer? but that doesnt. work. like thats still bad to do
