hi! You seem to have a lot of knowledge on mdzs so I wanted to ask you if mxtx ever mentioned in one of her interviews about LXC being 'the white moonlight of JGY's life' or something like that, and also that LXC's influence has helped JGY find freedom? I don't ever remember her saying this in other interviews but since there are lots of interviews with her so maybe I missed it?

I don’t even have to look this one up because I know it doesn’t exist. Mxtx said a while back that she doesn’t enjoy writing secondary couples, both Lan Xichen and Jin Guangyao are canonically straight, and there’s no way that she’d make a queer couple where one of them is an overt homophobe when she writes about actual queer people falling in love. Also, Jin Guangyao never “found” freedom, because his whole life goal was to be entrenched in the very system that despised him, just at the top and not the bottom. Lan Xichen’s role in his life was as a cover and an (unwitting) accessory to his crimes.
