She was driven mad by the truth (Clover and Emmeline love Hunter to pieces)
#that scene in ftf makes me fucking insane!!!!#their concerned little faces as they trail after him#like. hes not going anywhere. hes just pacing. they dont need to do this#but theyre silly brainless little creatures. they dont really know how to comfort him.#all they know is that hes sad :( and they are filled with love for him :( so they want to be close to him so hes less alone :(#do you ever think about how#clover and emmeline spent who knows how many years lost and forgotten#without a witch#i feel like a bond with a witch is the core of any palisman. they feel a void if they dont have one#so their little brains can certainly put together how devastated hunter must be to lose his ''other half''#its literally the worst thing their little brains could think of. its heartbreaking for them to see#but again. thryre not the brightest. theyre just like ''he's all alone'' :(#so their solution is to attach themselves to him so hes not alone#thats all they can think to do. theyre trying#also i feel like a part of their love for hunter is influenced by willow and gus' love for hunter#considering witches and palismen have a mental link im sure they fully understand just how deep the adoration for this boy runs#and thats all the reason they need to love him too#(i cant sleep. so you get very emotional babbling about palismen)

ok nvm i'll elaborate right now
i think one of the many weird choices in the finale was to make belos possess raine out of all people. one, because it really comes out of the blue. when has belos ever shown any interest of raine? like, i'm sure he must be aware of raine's record of plotting against the establishment, but he never deals with them himself. instead he sends a plethora of other people to do it for him (darius, eberwolf, kikimora, terra). if anything, it is terra that has a bone to pick with them. and in a parallel work where raine got more to do, i believe terra and raine's dynamic would've been something really interesting to explore. kinda like the relationship between atreus and odin in GOW ragnarok, like this "okay i know you hate me and all that i stand for, but i see potential in you so i'll take you under my wing and prove to you that i am worth of your time and loyalty" kinda thing, which is a banger dynamic btw.
but the second part is that there are two way more attractive options. the first one, immediately on demand, is darius. ofc it would take some canon time of developing that dynamic between belos and darius (it pains me that it doesn't exist), but it would make sense that belos would keep a close eye on darius. after all, he was mentored and was a good friend of the previous golden guard, and it's implied in various scenes (mostly ASIAS) that he knows enough about hunter's "ancestors" to praise him when he doesn't follow orders, and ultimately play the long-con to betray belos. he may even be aware in some sense of belos killing the previous golden guard, or even the existence of the grimwalkers. in that case, it would make sense that belos would have built some resentment towards him that ultimately shows in the choice to possess, corrupt and kill his puppeteer-ed body. but then, there's an even better option here, and a character that belos has hide a long-time resentment against: lilith.
look, if belos remembers luz from all those years ago, then he abso-fucking-lutely remembers lilith as well. and in a sense you can interpret the actions in canon as him trying to exert his personal vendetta against her: keep her close in the emperor's coven, trying to get her sister to join and get branded with a sigil with the promise that he'll cure her from her curse, all this while knowing that she would eventually betray him and join luz's side. we know belos kept her close for a reason and he knows the extent of her abilities, her history and relationship with eda, and her weaknesses as well. belos possessing lilith, then, would not only be the definitive "fuck you" to her, but could've also been an effective way to provoke eda emotionally and lead her to abandon her hideout to confront him. and honestly, from the way belos acts in that scene in FTF, his reaction to finding the best candidate to possess would make so much more sense if it was lilith and not raine.
but like, aren't lilith and raine just... insanely similar characters in the show's narrative? both are figures of eda's past, who loved each other sincerely back in simpler times, and through plot-related actions (raine's reason is much better narratively though, IMO) abandoned eda and joined the opposing side, climbing the ranks through their powerful abilities until becoming important figures in the coven circle. trying to think about the things i'd change in canon to make raeda a better couple involve making them go through similar plot beats that eda and lilith have gone through: an emotional, powerful moment where raine has to choose between their position of power and eda's wellbeing, actual tension between them (resentment and guilt from eda's side, frustration and confusion from raine's side), situations where they are forced to colaborate and their chemistry can still come through but still their dynamic is permeated by those lingering wounds... like, all of those things are stuff that already happened in canon, between eda and lilith. there's even that moment in king's tide where eda has the same somber moment with raine and lilith before executing their sabotage:
to me, it event seems like lilith got a lot of attention and development with eda in S1 and early S2 and then her character got sidelined when raine started to appear, and simultaneously: how raine's backstory and conflict of interest with eda are pretty much an afterthought but they still get to be a key player in the plot through late S2 and S3. i'm really sorry that economic character construction has to work this way, but that's how it is: you don't get to give eda a sister and a significant other and then make those two characters the same one. you have to commit to just one and integrate all aspects onto them.
#toh critical#anti raeda#long post#i still really like the darius possession choice btw. mainly bc of my deranged 'darius was the evelyn to previous gg's caleb' theory#and because if hunter actually joins luz and co to fight belos#he'd be saving his REAL parent too#but y'know. needs a lot more canon tweaking#i find it so useless that lilith gets effectively puppeteer'ed at the beginning of FTF but then she's just ok later in the episode ??? why#and also btw i'd love to keep raine and drop lilith. i'm sorry sacrifices must be done#esp because all the juicy potential between raine and terra#raine looking at darius like 'don't look at me like that. you also had your mentor'#and darius being like 'i cannot overstate how radically different our mentorship was compared to yours'#i say this might make me like raeda more but truth is i'd be head over heels in love with the terra/raine dynamic. lmao#also IMAGINE elsewhere and elsewhen but building a luz/raine dynamic instead..... i want it so bad

@lunterfans Continuing this conversation here because the other post was getting kind of long.
I seriously cant get over how they thought it was a good idea for the kids to waste their time asking for help against a literal god-being that moved THE FUCKING MOON out of the way just by pointing at it and moving their finger to the right... and splatted Belos against the wall with little effort. Like??? It is legitimately crazy to me. Who thought this was a good idea.
The school shit exists specifically for Huntlow... its absolutely insane. By the way I have no fucking idea why they would even bother forcing these two together. Both of them could have remained single. Their romance makes no sense because in every "Huntlow" episode it's just Hunter showing interest in Willow and never the other way around. Its literally not until FTF that she shows interest in him and even then she doesnt confess to him. Which begs the question of why they didnt just make them a couple at the beginning of TTT during the montage. And dedicate all of Luz's scenes in TTT to Willow. I DO NOT fucking get what was going on in their heads while writing season 3.
But yeah... homewrecker Hunter is so real... not even taking away Hunter's blush in Hunting Palismen can deter his homewrecking ways.
Like one joke me and a friend have is that he doesn't ask Willow out in TTT or FTF is because he can't get over Luz.
But yeah, this little man has no chill in Eclipse Lake. The moment he hears Amity is dating Luz he tries to ruin Amity's whole career. It'll never NOT get a laugh out of me everytime i watch this episode.

ok an entire year later how do you feel about the owl house season 3........ i rewatched it recently during that one marathon and auhhhhh honestlyyyyy idk it was fineeeee...... the second episode fucking sucks every single time i watch it (other than the luz and camila scene) but i found myself enjoying "watching and dreaming" more than i did the first time. i think the parts that really mattered were fucking amazing, like eda & king & luz reunion, luz's "death" (seriously the music and animation was SO good), the final fight, belos' death. they did the best they could with the extreme time restraint, and i do like how it focused more on just luz and eda and king instead of Those Other Guys (said with love). but i can't believe how bad "for the future" was. it somehow manages to get worse upon every rewatch LOL. what are your thoughts? also hiiiii
HIII!!! I agree entirely, the parts of the episode that mattered were REALLY REALLY good! Everything involving the main story and plot were done insanely well with how much they probably had to cut out with the series being shortened. The final fight still gives me chills and while I wish we got to see more than we did, I'm satisfied with how the main story was wrapped up, and I'm happy that the final episode finally put all the extra side plots going on with the other characters to the side to bring the main three back to the focus like they were at the start of the series. Removing the episode from the rest of the disaster that was the second episode, I actually really enjoy it and like it. That being said, SERIOUSLY. Why was FtF SO FUCKING BAD. Every time I watch it, it makes me find more things to be mad at it for/dislike about it. Easily the worst episode of the entire series, it still feels so out of place and unnecessary. And half the episode feels like it recons certain characters' arcs just to give the episode some "villains". Which is stupid because Belos and the Collector ARE STILL RIGHT FUCKING THERE. Like, there was no reason to make Kiki still power hungry as if Belos telling her to go die in a hole and her helping King because she was just so broken at the end of it all during the Day of Unity never fucking happened. She was always fighting for Belos (and herself by extent, but), so why would she still be trying to rule people? That makes no sense in the context of the story. And Boscha begging Amity to take her back? Also makes no sense. Like, yes, it makes slightly more sense than Kiki, but only for the fact that we don't really see Boscha ever get "better" yet, she mostly just became irrelevant. Although, that' not entirely true either, because we see her being disgusted by Luz and Amity being romantic in the beginning of LR, so actually I take it back. It makes just as little sense as Kiki regressing back to her old ways, now with no purpose behind it. It just reads so much like bad fanfic writing from a 12 year old that just discovered Wattpad lmao.
And obviously, don't even get me started on the Willow bullshit from the episode. I feel like I've repeated myself a million times about how that episode fully put the anchor on the sinking of her character & arc. And the fact that they used Hunter as a way of doing it, which also made Hunter extremely OOC and made half his arc and growth meaningless. Just makes me SO fucking mad.

Favorite huntlow moment (if you ship it)
Listen....listen....listen....
Probably finger touch but that's the basic answer. All the basic answers would also be my answer honestly. So let's go for one that has been making me insane for months but is a little underrated
"Willow, you okay? Here, I'll help you up."
What if I said this might have been the first time he ever called her by name and that's the reason for her little smile? Like he was too overcome with worry for her to filter himself and it just slipped out. What if I said this was foreshadowing for FTF? That this shows that he's always viewed her as a person with realistic limitations and vulnerabilities, rather than "the reliable one"? That she was so focused on putting on an impenetrable front for the safety and comfort of everyone around her but he's completely unaffected, instead continuing to check on her and ask her if she's hurt and helping her to stand if she needs it? This scene isn't AS insanity inducing when you have the FTF scenes that demonstrate the same thing but more explicitly, but it was driving me to my fucking limit when King's Tide aired so it deserves its moment in the sun.

LOLLY. I AM SHAKING YOU IN JOY AND PAIN. STRAY ITALIAN GREYHOUND. THIS SONG.
Okay, so I of course stole it off your Hunlow playlist because it's perfect for Hunter and how he sees Willow.
or so I THOUGHT. Until TODAY.
BECAUSWHFHAHHD like,
"I've just settled into the glass half empty made myself at home
And so why now?
Oh, please not now
I just stopped believing in happy endings, harbors of my own"
I know that in FTF Willow only lets herself feel this way for a moment, before Hunter reminds her of who she is BYYY:
"But you had to come along didn't you
Tear down the doors
Throw open windows
Oh, if you knew just what a fool you have made me
So what do I do with this?"
He tore open the doors (vines lol) literally and figuratively! And what is she supposed to do with that?? Fall in love. Obviously. How could you NOT after a cute boy teleports you out of self-loathing and doubt!?
LIKE:
"This sudden burst of sunlight
And me with my umbrella"
I AM NOT OKAY. THIS REVELATION HAS ALTERED MY BRAIN CHEMISTRY.
It still works from Hunter's perspective too, obviously, from like ASIAS onward but after FTF I think it works the other way around too and I just. They're just. PAIN. MY HEART BRO. There are so many other lyrics that fit in the little music video in my head of the two of them but I'm literally on my break at work and need to go LMAO
Sorry for just vomiting in your ask box😂
This is the second time this month I've made somebody go insane over the Stray Italian Greyhound and huntlow combo. Vienna Teng put some fucking CHEMICALS in that song!!! Turns the freakin frogs gay!!!!
And YEAH!!! I added it to the playlist back when I made it after Labyrinth Runners. Because that's what I associated it with at the time!!! Hunter's lost his home, his family, his religion, his identity, his sense of safety. He's LOST everything!!! And he's struggling to come to terms with that. By the time Gus finds him at Hexside, the shock has subsided and he thinks he can be functional now. But he's not okay. He's still got a lot going on mentally and it's messing him up.
But at the same time....hallway blush scene....he has his little "Oh. It's her." moment. And I know that he was very confused in the aftermath of the Hexside incident. And when he's left alone to reflect on what he's feeling he's just "Now?? Are you fucking serious?? We're really gonna do this now??? I just found out I'm not a real person and everybody's gonna die next week, is now REALLY the fucking time???" He has ENOUGH problems!! He doesn't know how to deal with this!! But also he can't help it because while he's fucked up and traumatized, he's also brimming with confusing fizzling teenage hormones and she's Willow Park and it's very overwhelming and scary and doesn't know which way is up or down and he has no idea what he's gonna do about this. Feelings like these demand so much from him and after everything he's been through he really doesn't know if he can stomach it. But she won't give him a moment to catch his breath and he's locked in now and there's nothing he can do about it.
BUT YEAH!!!! I've had that playlist on quite a lot since FTF leaked because I have been so not normal about them. So I have NOTICED that it now applies to multiple different angles. And thinking about the chorus from Willow's perspective during the whole vine scene makes me ILL. And then in the aftermath of that....the vibes of that song are so....terrified yet giddy and overwhelmed yet euphoric. How fucking soft and blushy Willow was after that scene. "Just what a fool you have made me" YEAH!!!!
He IS a sudden burst of sunlight!!!
She IS with her umbrella!!!!
ALSO ALSO ALSO!!! Being a girl who has such a tight reign over her own emotions completely falling victim to loserish behaviour during this part? Ready to fucking combust cuz she is being held so gently.
"What do I do, do I do with a love that won't sit still?
Won't do what it's told"
HATE this song, HATE them!!!!
