Home- Chapter 14 (Kylo Ren/Ben Solox F!Oc)

Chapter 13 / Chapter 15
Tumblr media
Paasaana, Forbidden Valley
Throughout my short life I’ve made very stupid and risky decisions, but following a person covered by different fabrics and a mask that regulates their voice seems to be the worst so far.
That doesn’t matter because he just saved us from a stormtrooper, who threatened us with a blaster while informing someone else of our location. So we followed him until we reached a huge machine, when I entered I was surprised to see a small lair. Some decorations hung from the ceiling along with other fabrics.
"Lea sent me a transmission," said the person as soon as C-3PO, Chewbacca, BB8, Poe, Finn, Rey and I got on the machine.
"How did you find us?" Finn asks. The person takes off his helmet, revealing his identity.
"Wookies attract attention.”
"Lando?" i ask in disbelief and Chewie stepped forward to hug him.
"It's good to see you, friend," He replies to Chewie, then looks at me. "I'm not surprised to see you here, little Sun,” I smile at the nickname and hug him too.
"But I’m surprised to see you, Lando.”
Although I didn't have many opportunities to see Ben's parents' friend, we were able to create a very good relationship.
"You know him and never told us anything?" Finn asks, but before I could answer him, Poe interrupts me.
"And it surprises you? She’s the queen of secrets!”
"General Calrissian, we are on the hunt for Exegol.”
“Yes, of course."
Lando shows us a hologram of the Sith Wayfinder.
"Only two were created.”
"Luke Skywalker came here looking for one," retorts Rey. Lando laughs.
"I know, I was with him. Luke and I were following an old Jedi hunter. Ochi of Bestoons. He had a clue of where to find thewayfinder. But when we got here, his ship was abandoned, we ran out of clues.”
"Is the ship still here?" Rey asks.
"In the desert."
"We must find it, maybe we can find something!” Everyone agrees.
Ships are heard in the distance, so we had to leave the machine.
"Be careful out there, little Sun. Give Leia my love,” Lando says as a farewell.
“You should go and give it yourself,” I smile, "Thanks, Lando."
We all run through the desert as soon as we see the soldiers arrive, until Poe finds two speeders, with some adjustments in the cables, manages to start one, while I help with the other. They both turn on and we drive to flee the troopers that follow us closely.
Chewbacca, BB8, Rey and I got on one, the others are with Poe. During the run we all try to shoot the stormtroopers, who also have their speeders.
At one point we split up and Rey tries to drive the speeder between the rocks and mountains of the planet to lose the soldiers, but thanks to the idea of BB8 we managed to shoot down one... only two more are missing.
"Never underestimate your droid," I joke, looking at the little ball.
Chewbacca and I shot one down. "There is the ship!" Rey tells us when we approach a small mountain of rocks. "I feel like I've seen that ship before."
Next to us is Poe, but before anything else happens, the last stormtrooper causes an explosion, destroying our ships. We all flew off into gray sand, but we recovered to shoot at the soldier until someone manages to break his system and crash into the rocks in the distance. Victory distracts us and I feel a tug on my feet.
"What the fuck?" It's like someone is pulling me and now I feel it in my arms.
"The hell is this?" Poe complains next to me, we both look at each other in terror.
“Sunken fields. Hold on to something!” says Rey, but there’s nothing within our reach.
"Kiara I-" Poe tries to say, but the sand already covers him completely.
"Poe!" I try to move, but that only worsens the situation until the sand covers my face and it's harder to breathe.
I keep moving until I can no longer feel the pressure of the sand, suddenly my body falls, but arms cushion the blow and carefully place me on the ground. I look around, discovering that we are in a tunnel.
"You're good?" I touch Poe's shoulder when I hear his voice and I’m relieved to see him.
After a few moments we all stand together, safe and sound.
"We must find a way out.”
Everything’s dark, so Rey and I light our sabers while Poe turns on his useless flashlight. We laugh and we walk guided by Rey.
"So what was it?" Rey steps forward along with Finn.
"What?" Finn replies.
"What did you want to tell me?" The girl asks again.
"When?"
"When you were sinking in the sand, you said: I never told you ..."
"I'll tell you later…”
Poe steps forward to be by his side.
"You mean when Poe isn't here?" says sarcastically.
“Yes."
Poe nods and continues walking “We almost drowned and you keep secrets? I thought Kiara was the only one,” I roll my eyes.
"I'll tell you, when you tell us about all that shifty stuff you do.”
"We all have secrets, Poe. You don't have to always throw them in our face,” I growl, Poe stops and watches me.
"At least mine hasn't killed half the entire galaxy,” He doesn't wait for an answer and keeps walking. Always does the same. Ever since he found out about everything.
"I don't think this is the time to talk about it.”
"And it never will be, in fact, not worth it," he replies annoyed.
I feel a pain in my chest and Rey touches my arm, giving me a sympathetic look. We keep walking until we find an Ochi speeder along with his skeleton.
"This is not good.”
"Kiara," Rey and BB8 find a dagger with certain symbols on it
"The location of the wayfinder,” answers C3PO when translating the symbols "It is the clue that master Luke was looking for,” the droid explains that he cannot tell us exactly the translation thanks to his programming.
Before anyone could complain, a huge snake appears behind him and we are all ready to finish it, but Rey heals the snake's wound, which now, lets us out.
"I suppose that was what Ochi lacked.”
"Transfering a little force to heal the wounds," says Rey as soon as we leave.
“To a snake," I look at her confused.
"It's a living being" I nod with a smile.
The new plan was to try to flee with Ochi's abandoned ship, but while we watch the ship, Rey feels something.
"Rey?"
"I'll catch up with you in a few minutes."
I stop her holding her arm.
"You can see him?" I ask unsure and she nods.
"I thought you could too," I deny.
"No more. He… he cut off all contact.”
“It'll only take a few minutes."
"Be careful…”
I return to the ship and help with some cables and reactors.
"Do you know what you’re doing?"
“I spent a long time with Han Solo, Poe. So shut up.”
"Enough both of you, we must concentrate!" Finn scolds us and then sends Chewbacca for Rey.
After a few minutes, Finn tells us that he’ll go for the Wookie after his delay.
"I hope it doesn't take long, we must get out of here…”
"Oh come on, surely you want to see your secret boyfriend,” I tense at his response.
"Could you stop? I'm sick of your sarcastic comments. My life is not your concern.”
He laughs. "Of course it is. Actually, it belongs to everyone, according to Leia, your job was to try to return her son to the light, but you failed and now we all must pay for it!”
I hit one of the walls of the ship and approach the man.
“Listen, it was never my job to try to fix absolutely anything, I’m not responsible for Kylo's actions, it’s not my duty to be taking care of him, nor am I a rehabilitation center, nor am I the cure for anything. Circumstances made my path cross with his and I tried to help him and I believed that, finally, my best friend could return, if that didn't work, it's not my fault.”
Poe's face looks almost ashamed, but neither continues the discussion as Finn's screams distract us. My breath catches as Poe and I leave the ship to witness Kylo and Rey's terrible actions. Both are trying to stop a ship using force and I can enter Rey's mind to know that Chewbacca is on it.
Suddenly, lightning bolts come out of Rey's hand, destroying the ship.
"No!" I scream as loud as I can and try to get closer, but Poe's arms stop me. "Chewie!"
This is almost like when we lost Han.
Kiara…
I close my eyes when his voice enters my head.
No! Why do you want to take everything I love from me?
"We must go!" Poe yells and forces me back to the ship.
———————————————————————————
"Kiara, I'm so sorry,” Rey tries to apologize, but I can’t speak. I just ignore her as I walk away from her and sit on the floor. “I lost control…”
"It wasn't your fault," says Finn next to her. They both follow the conversation away from me.
"We only have eight hours left, what will we do now?" Poe says coming to my side. Finn and Rey get closer.
"What can we do? We must return to the base.”
"We have no time to return, we are not going to give up. If we do that, Chewie died for nothing,” replies Poe, quite angry.
Kiara
Leave me alone!
"Poe, Chewie had the dagger," replies Finn.
"Then we must find another way."
"That was our only clue to find the counselor and he is gone."
"It's true" says C3PO "The inscription is now only in my memory."
We all watch him.
"Wait," I say, getting up, "Is it still in your memory?"
“It is, Master Kiara. But my system prevents the translation, only with a total derivation of my memory could I do it,” informs the droid.
"A what?"
"A vile act they do to droids and criminals.”
"Let's do that.”
"I know a Black market droidsmith,” reports Poe, "But it's in Kijimi.”
"What's going on there?" I ask.
"I was unlucky, but we must do it.”
"For Chewie.”

Star Wars and Samurai: A Classic Combo
Tumblr media
As I probably mentioned the last time I wrote about this particular franchise, Star Wars has been a big part of my life for as long as I can remember, and as something that I've been watching for that long a time it can be easy to notice certain trends or ideas that keep popping up. Sure, the recurring motifs of lights vs dark, lightsaber fights, space battles and complicated family dynamics are all pretty widely-known, but even the less famous aspects of the wider Star Wars story can be interesting to look at and analyse. Specifically for this talk, I wanted to discuss how the franchise has a very close relationship to Samurai films. Going all the way back to its earliest days, Star Wars has frequently borrowed story concepts from old films about Japan's most famous warriors, and it's worth noting that every time it does so it always creates tales that, while perhaps not universally beloved, always manage to become at least interesting to watch. So that's what I'm going to be doing here today, to look back over the times that I personally know of from Star Wars and which classic Samurai story they drew inspiration from. Because if there's one thing that can make a cool sci-fi franchise cooler, it's basing itself around equally-cool real life figures.
And of course we have to start at the beginning. The original Star Wars, 1977, the film that shook the world. It almost goes without saying that George Lucas drew inspiration from a number of big stories when making his original blockbuster, from classic sci-fi serials like Flash Gordon to more folkloric tales like king Arthur. But perhaps the biggest shaper of the plot of the film came from the 1958 film by Akira Kurosawa, The Hidden Fortress. This story, set during the tumultuous era of feudal Japan, feature two peasants who, unbeknownst to them, are secretly escorting a princess across enemy lines. Now the parallels here are obvious, as the character of Leia is also a Princess in need of transporting to a safe location during a time of war. And the two peasants, while they can certainly be seen as spiritual successors to Luke and Han, perhaps better fit the role that R2D2 and C3PO fill, that of more bumbling and comedic characters who simply found themselves roped into this situation through no fault of their own. Regardless, Hidden Fortress played a big part in making the original movie what it was, and given how beloved a title it went on to be, we should all be grateful to it.
But its worth noting that Kurosawa was by no means limited to the original Star Wars when it came to his influence over the franchise, as his movies provided the basis for a lot of homages over the years. Take, for instance, what is perhaps his most famous work, the Seven Samurai. Now, I realise that this one doesn't technically qualify for a samurai film since the title characters are actually without masters and therefore ronin instead, but it's in the name so that's what I'm counting it as. Anyways, the story of these seven "samurai" who get brought in to defend a local village and help defend it from bandits and even teach the villagers to defend themselves is a plot that might be familiar to fans of the recent Star Wars hit, the Mandalorian. Its fourth episode, Sanctuary, had this as its central premise, even though there are obvious differences, like there only being two people hired to do the job. But even so, the connection is as plain as day. And as you might expect, a story rooted in one of Akira Kurosawa's most beloved films was a damn fine episode in its own right, to the point where I'll even call it my personal favourite of the show's first season.
At this point I imagine that serious fans of every aspect of this franchise will likely feel a sense of familiarity with the previously-mentioned film, as Seven Samurai also served as the inspiration for an episode of the hit CGI TV show Clone Wars. The episode "Bounty Hunters" followed a much more close adaptation of the film, to the point of actually having seven defenders of the village, and in fact the episode even went out of its way to be a love letter to the works of Kurosawa, dedicating itself to him. And it really is a testament to the man's film that it can lead to the creation of not one, but two great episodes from two great shows. Now it's probably going to be a debate among fans as to which one is actually the better episode, regardless of whether or not it's a good adaptation of Kurosawa's work, but regardless they are both fine stories that are well worth watching, and though it might not be fair to credit him as being the progenitor of the idea of outsiders coming to a village's aid, there can be no denying that it's because of him that the trope is as popular as it is.
And speaking of tropes that Kurosawa has helped to make popular, another such idea is the notion of the same story being told in different ways by different people, which was the premise of the movie Rashomon from 1950. The story in question being that of a murder, a crime being described by multiple characters, with uncertainty about who is really telling the truth. Now this one admittedly hasn't had that big of an impact on Star Wars as much as Kurosawa's other films, but this idea of differing perspectives had a very noteworthy appearance in The Last Jedi. Now I realise that this is a very divisive movie among the fandom, but this idea of perspective is right at the centre of one of the film's more controversial choices, specifically regarding the actions of original trilogy hero Luke Skywalker. It frames his actions, his near-attempt at doing something terrible, from the point of view of two people, himself and his nephew. Whether Rashomon was indeed the inspiration behind this particular plot point is unknown, but I would be very surprised if it wasn't, especially considering Kurosawa's shadow over the rest of the franchise. And regardless of whether or not you like Last Jedi, it's undeniable that this particular storytelling technique made for an engaging development with our old hero.
For our final example of the connections between Star Wars and samurai stories we move away from Kurosawa (may he rest in peace) and return again to discussing the Mandalorian. Because with the hit show the entirety of its premise, that of a stoic warrior defending a young child from the dangers around them, we go to the tale of Lone Wolf and Cub. Now here I'm technically cheating a bit as that story, while having plenty of films made from it, actually began life as a manga back in 1970. But even with that difference in mind you can still see the clear connections it has with our favourite spacefaring father and son team. A main lead whose livelihood features a great deal of violence being cast out and vilified in some way and defending this youth is almost exactly what Mando and the Child are going through, though there are obviously plenty of differences in the details and aesthetics. Out of all the samurai stories we've covered, this one is possibly the least well-known, and as such it would surprise me greatly if anyone watching Mandalorian will even come to the conclusion that it drew inspiration from it. Now the series is still ongoing, so it remains to be seen if it will continue this premise, but for right now I think the manga's author would appreciate the love his story is getting in this new form.
And with that, we come to the end of our look at samurai influence in Star Wars. It's worth saying upfront that I have not seen or read everything related to Star Wars, as there's frankly way too much out there for me to every really declare myself an expert on it, so what I've talked about here is all the examples I personally knew of. Are there other samurai references out there in the franchise I don't know about? Quite possibly, and if so then I hope people enjoy them as much as what I've talked about here in this posting. But suffice to say I trust my point has been well made. A sci-fi story it may be, but Star Wars owes much of what it is to that other great subgenre of film, and with the franchise likely continuing on for many years into the future I have no doubt that those films will carry on making their way into whatever movies, TV shows, games, books and so on get made from the Star Wars name. How good they will be I cannot say, but if nothing else then at least the stories made thus far have been of great entertainment value to me, and I'll be more than likely giving them a few more re-watches before I'm done with them 😉

Star Wars Needs to Get Back to Its Roots: Taking Inspiration From Other Movies
Most of Star Wars’ core ideas are straight-up stolen from other stories. That’s not an indictment of the franchise by itself, especially considering what George Lucas was able to do with those ideas in the original and prequel trilogies. What it does suggest, however, is that Disney should have looked outside the franchise for ideas for its new trilogy rather than having relied so heavily on Star Wars nostalgia.
Take Dune, written by Frank Herbert in the 1960s as the first book in an epic science fiction series. The story is primarily set on a desert planet Arrakis (Tatooine) featuring dew collectors (moisture farms) and dangerous desert tribesmen called Fremen (Tusken Raiders) in an empire ruled by the evil Padishah Emperor (Palpatine). One of his favorite tools are his Sardaukar (Stormtroopers), Imperial troops regularly deployed to crush dissent and spread fear.
A prominent fixture of the empire is the Bene Gesserit (Jedi/Sith), an ancient monastic order of space witches whose array of powers include using The Voice (Mind Tricks) to control others. The space witches have prophesied the coming of the Kwisatz Haderach (Chosen One) who will be able to commune with a primordial force in all beings called Other Memory (the Force) that in part augments their physical, mental, and extrasensory powers. Dune's space witches not only have to have the right bloodline (midichlorians) but must undergo rigorous training called Prana-Bindu (the Ways of the Force) to mold their bodies and minds.
Our protagonist, Paul Atreides, is set into conflict with one of the Emperor's subjects, Baron Harkonnen (Darth Vader), whom he believes killed his father but it turns out that this Baron is his grandfather (Darth Vader is Luke's father). Paul's sister, Princess Alia (Princess Leia), has similar abilities to him. This goes on and on for Dune, but you get the point—a huge amount of plot points line up or are slightly altered.
George Lucas has also borrowed heavily from a variety of films. From Akira Kurosawa's 1958 samurai classic, The Hidden Fortress, he borrows the story's point of view. "The one thing that really struck me about The Hidden Fortress was the fact that the story was told from the two lowest characters," he said in a 2001 interview. "I decided that would be a nice way to tell the Star Wars story, which was to take the two lowest characters, as Kurosawa did, and tell the story from their point of view, which in the Star Wars case is the two droids."
The Hidden Fortress also takes place during a period of civil war, following a tall peasant named Tahei (C3PO) and a short one named Mataschichi (R2D2). They never shut up (*incessant droid noises*), meander through a desert after a battle, get split up, are captured and reunited. Soon they are dragged back into the civil war, helping the bearded General Tadokoro (former general Ben Kenobi, who Lucas initially wanted to be played by Tadokoro’s actor) escort Princess Yuki (Leia) to the rebel base. Tahei and Mataschichi, however, aren't helping out of the goodness of their hearts, but because they want Yuki's fortune (Han Solo and Chewbacca).
Star Wars borrows heavily from Flash Gordon not just with its serialized nature but key plot points. Flash Gordon and a prince (Luke Skywalker and Han Solo) sneak into the evil Emperor's fortress (Death Star) dressed as enemy soldiers. A space princess, a hairy biped companion, a sky city (Cloud City) run by an old friend (Lando Calrissian) that may no longer be trustworthy, physically unrealistic but entertaining space dogfights, an opening text crawl.
The prequel podrace is at one point a shot by shot remake of the chariot racing scene from Charlton Heston's Ben Hur. Jabba's concept art has him wearing the signature fez of Casablanca's Signor Ferrari, the fat crime lord that runs the eponymous city that sounds a lot like Jabba's criminal underworld. Idea after idea is borrowed and repurposed to make a new world.
All that borrowing, plagiarism, inspiration, whatever you want to call it, helped George Lucas build an incredibly rich and original universe for that first trilogy that became the bedrock for the series he envisioned. Some of Star Wars’ best moments used all this literary and cinematic plunder to make new moments, not constantly callback old ones.
Whether you hate Phantom Menace or think it was unfairly maligned, you cannot deny Roger Ebert's review of the movie as "an astonishing achievement in imaginative filmmaking." That achievement is deepened not only by continued borrowing from non-Star Wars IP, but the invocation of past installments without relying on photocopying or nostalgia. Tatooine, originally Dune’s Arrakis, gains heightened thematic significance when we learn it was where Luke’s father was raised as a slave. Not only do we meet Princess Leia’s mother, who also happens to be royalty, but Queen Amidala's plot rhymes with Princess Yuki's from Hidden Fortress: on the run from invaders, using decoys to hide herself, protected by a General (two Jedi, here). Even the conflict between Gungans and Nabooians is from another Kurosawa film, Seven Samurai, where farmers and samurai hold each other at arms distance.
Attack of the Clones is more explicit in its callbacks. Take Boba Fett’s appearance here and in The Empire Strikes Back. In Clones, Boba and his father chases Kenobi through an asteroid field but lose him when the Jedi attaches himself to an asteroid and fools their sensors. In Empire, Han Solo tries the same trick but it fails to work on the bounty hunter this time around. There's a very loud callback to John Ford's The Searchers here, when Anakin learns his mother was kidnapped by Tusken Raiders and a search party led by her husband, Cliegg Lars, fails to find her. The lyricism here shines through because while Anakin finding his dying mother sends him on a quest of revenge to murder every Tusken Raider in the camp, Luke in A New Hope finds his surrogate family dead and instead embarks on his quest to become a Jedi.
Revenge of the Sith (an objectively good film) tracks Anakin’s final descent into darkness with the sort of grandeur you’d expect to close out the second set of Lucas’ four planned trilogies. All the plagiarism thus far builds up to create new moments that both pay off on their own, but also invoke the originals without relying on nostalgia. It was tragic watching Obi-Wan and Padmé realize far too late that Anakin has fallen to the dark side—especially when we know that he will go on to kill scores more people including Kenobi, maim his own son, and then offer Luke up to the Emperor until finally coming back to the light two decades later. When we see how close Yoda comes to killing Palpatine, his depression in Empire makes more sense: he blames himself for not being strong enough and now faces a reminder of his failure, the son of the Jedi whose corruption he couldn’t stop and whose death he ordered. You watch this movie knowing deep shame, death, and tragedy awaits each of these characters and that gives the prequels a cinematic power of their own.
Search your feelings and you know all of this to be true. This is where Star Wars shines—in stealing from a plethora of sources to fashion new moments, big and small, for us to enjoy in this universe. This is what the prequels do and what we’ve all been missing from Disney’s latest trilogy, which feels content to largely find inspiration in Star Wars movies past rather than look further afield in the galaxy.

Home- Chapter 15 (Kylo Ren/ Ben Solo x F!Oc)

Chapter 14 / Chapter 16
Tumblr media
Kijimi is quite a dangerous place and full of soldiers. Each of us must use something to hide ourselves. Poe’s the one who guides us, he checks the nearby perimeter, but when he returns he tells us that the Stormtroopers are everywhere.
"All right and I know what we should do," he says.
"So do I. Leave.” Answers C-3PO.
"Clam it, C3PO,” The rest of us continue to see everywhere just in case.
"Follow me,” Poe walks determinedly through the streets until we lean against a stone wall. "Okay. Let’s head down this way,” He points out, but a gun is activated aiming at his head.
"Heard you were spotted at Monk’s Gate,” says a woman in a red suit and a helmet that modulates her voice. Finn, Rey and I move away from the wall to see who’s threatening Poe. "Thought, he's not stupid enough to come back here."
"Oh you'd be surprised," replies Poe.
"Hey, I don't think it's a good idea to use sarcasm against someone who’s targeting you," I add.
"Who’s this?"
"What’s going on?"
"Do you know her?"
"Guy, this is Zorri. Zorri, this is Rey, Kiara, and Finn,” He says still unable to move.
"I could pull this trigger right now…”
"I've seen you do worse."
"For a lot less.”
"Bad time, Poe," I say worried. At any moment, that woman can hurt Poe or some Stormtroopers can find us.
"Can we just, uh... talk about this?" Poe asks, looking at the woman.
"I wanna see your brains in the snow.”
"Lovely woman," I reply.
“So, you're still mad?" Poe asks.
"Now, what did you do?"
"Zorri, we could use your help,” continues Poe ignoring my comment. “We gotta crack this droid’s head open and fast,” He says pointing to C3PO “We’re trying to find Babu Frik.”
"Babu?" she replies “Babu only Works with the crew. That’s not you anymore.”
"Wait, what crew?" I ask confused.
"Oh, funny he never mentioned it,” Poe tries to stop her, but it's useless. "Your friend’s old job was running spice.”
We all look at the man, surprised.
"You were a spice runner?" Finn asks and Poe turns around.
"You were a stormtrooper?" Poe replies.
"Were you a spice runner?" Rey continues.
"Were you a scavanger?" He defends himself again and then looks at me.
"I didn’t say anything.”
"We could do this all night," he says defensively.
"You don't have all night,” says Zorri approaching. "You know, I'm still digging out of the hole you put me in. When you left to join the Resistance.”
I didn’t know it. I have vague memories of when I met Poe, but he never mentioned anything from his past.
"You two,” Zorri points at Rey and me. “You’re the one they’re looking for. Bounty for them just might cover us.” She says as Rey and I share a knowing look. "Djak’kankah!" Zorri yells.
The following was very fast, but all the people who came out of nowhere to intercept us were shot down, finally I knock Zorri down and we light our sabers aiming at her.
"We could really use your help," says Rey. Zorri accepts and guides us to the place we are looking for with great stealth. We enter a place where there are various creatures drinking and laughing.
“Babu’s in the back,” We follow the woman.
Finally, C3PO is connected to the necessary machines. Actually, he didn't want to know much about it. The little creature known as Babu Frik is taking care of everything.
Being in this place makes me dizzy, I'm not sure what happens, but I only know that I need air. I look for Zorri and I approach her.
"Is there a balcony or something safe where I can go out? I need air…”
"I don't think you will find anything safe on this planet,” she answers crossing her arms and I raise my eyebrows waiting for another answer. She sighs. "You can go out to the roof, just hide," she says pointing to some stairs.
"Thank you.”
The last thing I hear from the group is concern about the droid's memory loss, but I move on. As soon as I get out, several other facades connect creating a space where I can be. I breathe trying to calm my breathing. My head turns and I feel pressure on my chest, but the air is a great help to minimize it.
In that, someone else comes out but my eyes are still fixed forward, the vision is not pleasant, several explosions occur in the distance and a light watches over some areas.
“Hey…”
"Hey," I reply.
Poe stands beside me.
“I'd like to talk about what happened in Paasaana…”
"We don't have to talk about it."
“Kiara…"
"No, Poe." I turn to see him. "I don't want to argue about that any more. I'm tired.”
"I don’t want to argue. Actually, I come in peace.” I look at him confused and he sighs. “Listen, I know that I was very hard on you all this time since you came back and I don't want to make excuses, what I did or how I treated you was not good. Sorry. When you were captured, we all wanted to do something to rescue you, I thought Kylo was going to hurt you, I thought I wouldn't see you again. All the memories from before, I knew you were someone special. when you left with Han- I guess it wasn't that hard- we were younger and I knew you would be safe with him, but…” His eyes connect with mine. “Kylo has done horrible things, I thought the worst–”
"Poe, him–”
"I know. Leia told us everything she knew. You have history together and she assured us that you would be fine. When you came back, weak and without a hand, I- I'm sorry. I just don't want to lose someone else,” His eyes reflect sadness and regret, I know he’s telling the truth.
We’re both leaning against wall, I take his hand and give it a slight squeeze.
"I can't ask you to understand, Poe. No one can, maybe Rey, a little, but still. It's kind of complicated and I could tell you everything, but you only met Kylo Ren, the person I'm fighting for is Ben Solo.”
"You love him?”
I sigh nodding.
"Unfortunately. When I was with him ‘captured’, I denied it all the time, I felt a lot of anger, but he also had moments when I could see hope in him. No one is lost forever, and I don't want to justify it, it's just-"
"Complicated," He ends.
“It's his decision now.”
"So," he says, grimacing, "Are we okay?"
I smile.
"Yes, we are fine,” I hit him hard on the arm and he complains. "Don't ever treat me like that again.”
"Yes, I deserved it.” We both laugh.
"If we get out of this alive and I mean everyone. Can I be the godfather of your future children?” He says with a smile and makes me laugh.
"We must get out of this first,” I frown, "but what makes you think I will have children after this?”
“Well, in a hypothetical happy ending, you get the tantrum prince, then get married and have children. I’m optimistic about your story, so I must anticipate.”
His words make me laugh out loud.
"A great change of mood, Poe. I cannot guarantee you to be the godfather, it is also the prince's decision…”
"Oh please, He would surely do everything you said."
"We'll see."
"I asked for it first.”
"Sure. But now tell me, what is your story with Zorri? ” I ask making a face. It's not that I don't like it, but I could notice something between them.
“It's nothing, I mean, it was a long time ago.”
I sigh, relieved.
"That's great,” I pat his back and decide to go back. "If not, you would break Finn's heart,” I say before entering.
Poe straightens up and I can see his cheeks flush.
"What!?" He squeals, but I don't stop.
————————————————————————
After a few minutes of waiting, Finn and Rey are away, talking about… something while I'm sitting on some boxes. At that, Poe enters the room with Zorri behind him.
"There's an incoming destroyer,” she says.
"We gotta go now. Did we get it? Babu?” Poe asks looking at the creature, which states that the Droid is ready.
C3PO stands up and his eyes reflect red light. We all watch him as he gives us the coordinates of where the wayfinder might be. Then its system shuts down.
"The Endor system," says Finn "where the last war ended?"
Oh no.
The tremor of a roar shakes the place causing a chill.
Rey walks up the stairs and opens the hatch. Finn and I look out at her.
"Ren’s detroyer,” She informs us.
"He's here?" Poe asks.
For a few seconds she doesn’t respond.
"Chewie?" Rey answers and I frown.
"What about him?"
“He’s on Ren’s ship,” I can perceive Rey’s feeling of joy. He’s alive.
"What?" I climb and listen to it. I hear the wokie's roars and smile. Rey turns around.
"He's alive! He must’ve been on a different transport.”
I realize maybe... just maybe, that's what Ben was trying to tell me.
Oops.
"We gotta go get him,” Finn announces and we all agree.
Before we leave, C3PO works again, but its memory has been reset and continues to introduce himself.
This will be a problem.
