this is probably a me problem but, you ever read a fic that's actually well written but then the technicality of something, like a sport, per se, throws you off so much that it just, sadly, sours the whole thing?

#i'm not talking about HEAVY technicality btw #what i mean is the most basic things #its just #i read a fic tagged as 'boxer au' right #obvs im going to expect boxing #but then i read the fight scene #and the opponent was pinned to the ground with their hands behind them?#and i went ?????? that's illegal????#and then i went ??? is this MMA intead???#but I checked the tags and it indeed was boxing #so now im thrown off and so confused #that i couldnt get back to the groove sksksks #ramblings #this is definitely a personal pref btw #bc i research HEAVILY #so it just surprises me sometimes that some fic writers #dont do the same
