people who say jason is tim’s robin… WHAT have you been reading cuz it’s clearly not any comics whatsoever
like. tim has been obsessed with dick grayson from the moment they met, the night dick’s parents died, when they took a photo together before the show
the robin that tim followed around was dick, it’s literally how he figured out his and batman’s identities! he recognized robin!dick doing a signature Flying Grayson move that only his family could do and immediately knew robin was dick grayson (and by association, bruce wayne was batman) !!
sure he probably followed robin!jason around as well, but dick was robin for almost a decade! jason was only robin for a few years before he died, and tim literally tracked dick down to a different city to get him to be robin again
basically just. JASON WAS NOT TIM’S ROBIN, DICK WAS!!!
#sorry i just see it SO MUCH#and it BOTHERS ME#bro does not have hero worship towards jason#all the fics where tim is like ‘🥺 your my favorite robin/hero’#i’m like.#he would not fucking say that#to jason at least#that boy is a dick grayson fanboy through and through#tim drake#dick grayson#jason todd#robin!dick#robin!jason

Hey,
So if it's not too much to ask, can you give me a summary on the Core Four's personalities? I really wanna know for analysis reasons, I'm re reading all the core 4 young justice and teen titans books and trying to decipher my favorite one.
I can give you the personalities as intended by their creators no problem, Person Newtonote.
Now as you read you might think "Oh, hmm, that doesn't add up with what I've read" when it gets into the Young Justice and Teen Titans books, but that's 'cause different writers write different things, and some writers understand some characters better than others, and some of it is just plain character development, or in worse case writers doing what ever they please 'cause they don't care.
I'll let you judge when what happens.
Onto what you've asked though, I'll try to keep it simple as I can while still being detailed:
Tim Drake:
My personal favorite, that much is likely obvious.
As intended, he is an idealistic young boy, and dreamed of Robin as an even littler boy (he's pretty small for his age). He's clever, and resourceful, and thinks very very highly of the legacy of Robin. It's his heart though that got him his job as Robin, and his compassion and genuine passion for the role of Robin. And he displays what many may call boy scout tendencies. Even admitting to original Robin Dick Grayson that he enjoys helping old lady's cross the road (or something like that.)
Being raised in private schools, without a lot of friends (He's shown having no friends until he goes to public school to my knowledge), he's a pretty naive and oblivious, trusting person. And it's through out his journey's he has to learn how dark Gotham City can get. Though compared to the other Bat-Family members of this era (90s) he's very much the heart and light-hearted youthful energy to it.
His social ability is mostly perfectly fine, he's no complete weirdo. Kid can get friends easy peasy. Easily likable to folks. Endearing. But he has an oblivious side, and can get ahead of himself. Has a habit of getting spiritually adopted by people who instantly want to protect him. Anyone from Batman, to former CIA agents, and even villains. He's just got that babyface on him, and button nose.
He also deals with anxiety in terms of being Robin, being worried that he may be stripped of the job, or let people down, or mess something up. And sometimes that lends him having a lot of insecurities about himself. While having some prior training in martial artists, and implications of having taken gymnastics, also a former boy scout, he still doesn't naturally take to the role like all other Robins around him. Which means he has to try a lot harder to have his keep.
In the Bat-Family in this era (the 90s) he's the heart, and baby to everyone. They're uber protective of him, and take him out of the action when they deem it to be too much for someone like Tim. Within Young Justice he puts on a heavy Robin persona to hide what he's really like. Making himself out to be a more Batman-esque mysterious leader.
When really, he's a dorky, fanboy, who loves Kaijus, Crocky the ??? Crocodile I guess (Basically Barney the Dinosaur), super heroes, cars, Warlocks and Warriors (Dungeons and Dragons), sports, comics, Sci-Fi, fantasy, and cartoons. Self-admitted geek, with some popular interests in there.
Think of Tim as sort of Autistic kind of. He's never officially said to be. But when you read his origin, it's definitely a legitimate way to interpret him. Though I believe his uniqueness is intended to really be molded by Tim's passion, and obliviousness from a lack of parental figures in his very young life.
Tim is supposed to be an optimist, as told by his creator, but to be real a lot of writers seem to forget that, even when making jokes about how he's optimistic compared to others. I think sometimes the writer's own cynism leaks out into him. So remember that...despite a lot of writers forgetting it. Be better than them.
Cassie Sandsmark:
My personal second favorite member, but, please, make up your own mind here.
She's a rebellious teenage girl, and tomboy. She stays up pass curfew to party, but is at heart a good hearted individual who truly wants to help. This comes at odds with her stubborness and headfirst attitude. She hates being treated as a kid. And shows a great deal of intuition and cleverness. She's also a babysitter. Seemingly a good one too.
Her need to prove herself can put itself ahead of her own logic though. And she buts head with her very stuffy mother who doesn't appreciate Cassie's care-free nature. She means a lot to Cassie, and Cassie wants her approval. Cassie's natural being is...very much in contrast to what her mother would prefer though. It's fun.
A lot like Tim she's also shown to be a Super Hero fanboy. For her it's specifically Wonder Woman and the Flash, while with Tim it's basically anyone the writer decides he hasn't met offscreen yet.
Through her journey's she learns to contain herself though, and better use her powers.
Bart Allen:
The most teenager-y teenager you ever seen. He has ADHD, but not the uber-hyperactive, talkative, hugger you see in some more modern misunderstandings of him.
Originally he was pretty quiet. Super popular in his school. Girls loved him and considered him a pretty boy. But in reality he has no social knowledge, because he was raised in basically a video game for two years. He's essentially an alien learning to fit in with human civilization. So he's incredibly reckless without intention. It takes him awhile to truly process the concept of death and related repercussions. So he's sort of dangerous.
He can be quite surly, and mean spirited on occasion. But like most heroes, he has a good heart that comes out in the end. It's just simply the 90s and being Anti-Authority is the norm. His name is Bart after all. Underneath that is a young man who does sweet things when he has it in him.
Just don't think of him like a baby like how a lot of people make him out to be. He's a teen's teen.
Original Bart, like original Tim, and original Cassie, to me, is the best version of the character. The most nuanced, and interesting.
Oh, and minor violent streak on Bart too. Started a fight before, and stuff like that.
He cares inside. That has to count for something right?
Kon-El:
Hot-Headed pervert. Over-confident. Fame hungry. Lady magnet. Stubborn. Head first. Sort of a prick. But again good hearted.
I haven't read him as much as the others, because I don't personally care for him. Then in the early 00s with Teen Titans they decided just to make him an angsty young Clark, which is personally boring.
I don't have a lot of great things to say about him. His solo is very dated, and overtly sexual. Something I have no interest in reading.
He's at his best in Young Justice though, where he isn't written as jail bait by a writer who thought it'd be great if he dated grown women to fulfill teenage boys dreams. Instead you get to have fun with a very flawed character without the distracting perversion...mostly.
Punk styled. Loves dressing like a punk. Until he doesn't. Ruh-roh.
--
Again though, different writers write different things. They catch onto different things more than others, some are plain neglectful, others don't care, some want to change stuff for the sake of it. It's comics, you'll be lucky if it's consistent.
But on my years of studies, all that is what the character's where intended to be by their creators. So a lot of it is a starting pad, but it's also the purest form of them you're going to find.

Bruce found the body he hugged his body in his arms... breaking down... dick.. having not received the call missed the funeral..... it was his fault in a sense... no matter how much kory needed to ensure him it wasnt.. he gave him his costume... his name was jason todd... a boy from a similar background to dick grayson.... who is each first's favorite superhero and why? (assume the ffvii universe has all the same superheroes as ours.)
Sephiroth - Nightwing. He's the type to get super into the lore/backstory of the characters. Sephiroth would find Dick Grayson's story with his family being murdered, then going through a transformation as Robin then Nightwing really interesting.
Genesis - Harley Quinn. He vibes with the whole started off as a villain but is now an anti-heroine/hero thing. Also, she's a dramatic pretty, and bitchy with a penchant for theatrics and wearing red and black. Sound familiar?
Angeal - Captain America. A boy with humble beginnings turned war hero after being enhanced by a soldier serum. If the FFVII universe has all the same superheroes as ours, there's no doubt in my mind Angeal is a total fanboy lol.

Reading This Week 2023 #1
Do not let the numerous fanfics read fool you, I did not have a lot of reading time this week as I have been busy at my first(!!) academic conference. I'm so delighted to have this opportunity to talk (in front of actual scholars and academics!) about research I've been doing. Very intimidating and cool.
Because of said academic conference, I was too exhausted (and tbh, celebratory sake-drunk) to type this up Saturday night like I've gotten into the habit of, so this is coming to you All recorded on Sunday morning
Started and Finished:
[fe3h fanfic]
The Care and Keeping of Byleth Eisner by Muftiday Children of the Goddess by wearwind Reaching Out, Sunlit by wearwind Liberation by 0shadow_panther0 network effects (the tragedies after duscar) by mareza and they come unstuck by Azzandra homeroom (or, if we're not recruited in 15 minutes, we're legally allowed to leave) by Schistosity AITA for not wanting to talk to my daughter? by knave_of_swords Observation by leonidskies Collateral by Azzandra Common Ground by TheDoctorIsIcecube Your name? by jemtokall Worthy of Your Protection by Hyakunana & leporidae The Crest of Riegan by BuddyTheMeanPeacock
*wipes sweat off forehead* my on-an-airplane fanfic reading habit is no joke, however a lot of these are Short. My faves of this set are absolutely "homeroom [...]" and the wearwind fics (and I'm very excited to get back to read more of wearwind's works once I actually get farther in my golden deer run)
[f@tt fanfic]
behind the centre by fangirl_squee Vishteen Minutes by risocean Chapter 9 of the void, through your body by zerodignity Duet for Plucked Strings & How the Songbird Sings by beanenchilada an accurate copy by zerodignity
okay this is a more reasonable number! "Vishteen Minutes" was extremely good at capturing the voices of Ali-as-Marn and Jack-as-Pickman, so i am extremely delighted by it [note to self: track down zerodignity on social media so I can ask if I can podfic 'the void through your body']
now onto actual books
Queer: A Graphic History written by Dr. Meg-John Barker, illustrated by Julia Scheele
I really could have sworn I started reading this book last week, but it turns out it just goes very quickly despite its density of information. A fun/good refresher on queer theory concepts I learned about last year, and nearly got me in an argument with someone in a discord server
A Thief in the Night by K.J. Charles, narrated by James Joseph & Ryan Laughton
I had been Planning to wait until this came out as an ebook to read, until my mom reminded me I could just use her audible account where she'd already purchased it (just like I already use her kindle library...). In the end I am desperately thankful for that reminder because once i was Too Tired to even read fanfic on my flights this week, Toby and Miles kept me going until I could collapse into a bed *does jazz hands in KJC fanboy*
Beastars, Vol. 1 by Paru Itagaki, translated by Tomoko Kimura
i watched a video essay doing a queer reading of beastars which reminded me that I wanted to read the manga, so here we are. it's going to be A Little While before I get to a part of the manga that the anime hasn't covered already, but so far I am enjoying this read
Ongoing:
Teen Titans: The Silver Age Omnibus, Vol. 1
I read another couple adventures from this in the Day and a Half i had at home this week. I deeply love how much the Titans love The Beatles. Also the adventure "Requiem for a Titan!" broke my heart! Dick Grayson......baby boy.........
The City of Brass by S. A. Chakraborty
I read.... like one or two more pages of this? I think I'm just not in the right mood for it this week
Started and Ongoing:
Before Trans: Three Gender Stories from Nineteenth-Century France by Rachel Mesch
my hold for this from the library came in! Oh i am so excited to be reading this. It's a bit of a slow read since it is three mini-biographies on "women who dressed as men" who we can pretty easily read with our modern lens as proto-trans, trans ancestors, etc. i'm really enjoying it
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, narrated by George Guidall
I think I'm starting a tradition now of reading-by-audio a classic novel at the beginning of the year. in both cases because I sort of want to write a story inspired by them

I love Tim’s first appearance in comics. I love it. I adore it. God it’s so perfect in every single way.
First of all: stalking. He’s stalking Bruce, he’s taking incriminating pictures (this is where the photographer Tim thing comes from), he’s stalking the Teen Titans, he knows where Starfire lives. Good golly he’s stalking everyone. Like a little mini Bruce, stalking away. Kori: “How did you know where I live?” Tim: “No time for questions, I’ve got to find Nightwing.” Kori: “???”
I love that Kori’s kind of creeped out. I would be too! A kid just knocked on my door and basically said “Yo, Starfire, do you know where Dick Grayson, known to some as Nightwing, is? No? See ya.” Kori’s right to be creeped out.
(God god god I want I need I yearn please tell me the first time Starfire sees Robin III she says something like “I feel like I’ve met you before…” I need Starfire to realize that Tim is the creepy stalker kid. I need Starfire to be like “Dick, not to judge you or your family, but what?” I neeeed iiiiittttt)
Tim 1.) knows about Dick living with Kori, 2.) knows that Dick kept another apartment, 3.) broke into the safe in Dick’s apartment then replaced the wall that was in front of it, and 4.) it’s heavily implied that he has been doing all of this on his bike with a backpack. Tim has been biking across the country with his dumb little coat and his not very big backpack or, at the very least, he biked all the way to where Haly’s Circus was set up. Maybe he did both! This kid is an absolute maniac and I adore him.
I love that Tim makes every single thing he says as ominous as possible! He’s just: “Dick. You need to return to Batman. He needs your help.” No wonder Dick is confused and a bit concerned and kind of creeped out!
Also, I really like the Haly Circus bit, if only because Tim spends most of his parts of the comic internally fanboying over how cool Dick is, and it’s super cute. Tim at one point is just like “Wow, Dick Grayson really is the very best!” and he’s so happy to spend time with Dick, why is he so cute???
Tim saving Batman and Nightwing from the rubble of a building is a very good visual representation of Tim’s ongoing thematic struggle to keep Bruce and Dick from collapsing under the weight of Jason’s death. It’s hanging over both of them, everything is different, Bruce keeps trying to lock Dick out and pretend everything is find and Dick is trying to help him but can’t do anything because Bruce never gives him the opportunity to. Bruce is on the second floor and Dick is in the basement and Two-Face blows up the building and they’re nearly crushed under the rubble.
Tim coming in at this point is great, because he uses a mixture of what Bruce and Dick both did to enter the house. Dick comments, in the comic directly before this one, that he’s too big to fit in the coal shaft, a narrative mirroring of Dick being too old to be Robin anymore. He doesn’t fit in the costume, but more than that, he doesn’t fit in the role anymore, and nothing can force him to fit. He goes in through a window instead.
Bruce breaks through the front, through a window, as subtly as a bull in a china shop (thank you, Dick Grayson, for your incredibly on the nose comments in times of great crisis). Bruce is trying to hurt himself, he’s been trying to hurt himself for the past issues since Jason’s death, and this is just compounded by the way he’s chasing the feeling of being happy again, the feeling he gets when he swings through the air, the feeling that isn’t the same without Jason by him. This is furthered by him mistakenly calling a young boy “Jason,” and him almost calling Nightwing “Robin” multiple times. He’s stuck in the present while the past haunts him and the future looms in front of him, and he wants to be happy again but can only see making himself happy as hurting himself.
Tim doesn’t take out Two-Face, but Tim does sneak into the rubbled building through the coal shoot that Dick couldn’t fit in (and he’s in the Robin costume! He’s so cute!!). Then, when he finds Batman and Nightwing stuck under the rubble, he’s forced to brute force his way out and move the rubble off of them. It’s a mixture of how Bruce and Dick handled things, but more than that. Bruce went in through the window, a distraction, in a Robin-like move. Dick snuck in through the window, in the shadows, in a Batman-like move. Tim manages to take both roles and mix them together, coming in sneakily but brute-forcing when there’s no other option. Tim has always been the Robin the most similar to Batman, but it all begins here, with Tim being the most prepared character in the comic. More than just the most prepared character, he’s doing the opposite of what Bruce and Dick are doing. While Bruce and Dick keep disappearing without another word, Tim keeps appearing right when the narrative has forgotten him. Instead of being an outright distraction like Dick and Jason were in the past, Tim plays a diversion.
Tim’s whole character in this storyline is someone desperate for things to be balanced again. He’s scared for Bruce because Batman is his hero. He’s scared for Dick because he doesn’t want Dick to hate him. Tim doesn’t want anyone to hate him, which is why, earlier, he’s very polite even as Dick is like “Alfred, this is Tim, he showed up after stalking me for a while and he knows our secret identities.” Tim wants Bruce to keep living. Tim is the one who says the hard truth to Bruce, that he isn’t acting normal and that everyone’s noticed. Tim says it because Alfred and Dick both tried and failed.
And the panel of Tim, in the Robin outfit, standing shadowed by Bruce as Batman is just a brilliant piece of visual storytelling. Even without the captions, you can see that Tim is standing up to Bruce, is out-stubborning Bruce by being simultaneously brutally honest and clever. Tim is supposed to be the ray of light at the end of the tunnel, the light in the darkness, the Robin to Batman, and it’s so good.
Anyway, I really liked this storyline and I really liked Raven appearing to just be like “btw Nightwing, we all love and support you, but we’ll back off if that’s what you really want.” Also the throw-away line in front of Commissioner Gordon: “he found it out while he was inside of your body.” What was Gordon thinking right then? I love it.
I also love Tim, but that much is obvious, let me explain. He took a bunch of pictures of Batman being beat up by Ravager just to show them to Dick to get Dick to realize there’s a problem. Tim does not actually interact with Batman or Bruce Wayne in any way until he rescues Batman and Nightwing. Tim doesn’t set out with the intention of becoming Robin, he sets out with the intention of making Dick Robin again because he believes that Robin is what Batman needs. Batman needs something that makes him stop and hesitate. Something that reminds him that he’s more than just Bruce Wayne.
It also has the unintended side effect of Tim saying the funniest fucking line in the whole storyline: “This was the best day of my life.” Like, excuse me??? You almost died! Multiple times! You drove from Haly’s Circus to Bruce Wayne’s house in the morning, presumably in awkward silence because you told Dick you’d tell him everything on the way to Gotham, but only actually tell him anything when he’s with Alfred. When Dick shows up with Tim, Dick tells Alfred that he barely knows any more than Alfred does! Alfred just met the kid, he only knows his first name! Tim did not tell Dick one single thing on the entire ride to Wayne Manor, he didn’t even tell them his name was Tim Drake! Every single bit of information they get out of Tim is pushed and prodded and pulled out, Tim is the least forthcoming character of all fucking time.
Dick shows Tim the Batcave. For what purpose did he do this? Just to storm out dramatically? I have no idea, why did Dick show the child this, I’m lost. Tim has been sitting with Alfred for hours by the time he finally convinces Alfred to drive him out! Alfred gets a single phone call from the Teen Titans and Tim is still there, so we know he didn’t leave or anything. What were they doing? Did they talk at all? Or was it another Nightwing situation where Tim just sat there in awkward silence?
Not the point, Tim almost gets beaten up by Two-Face, gets yelled at by his hero, has to berate his hero, and he’s still like “What a chamring time this has all been, thank you for the experience, hope Dick has fun being Robin again.” Tim is a maniac, he’s nuts, he’s absolutely buckwild, I love him more than oxygen.
Side note: I love when Alfred (while Tim is berating Batman, like you do) says “The kid would make a good politician.” And Dick says “He’d do more good by Batman’s side.” It made me laugh. I also love Dick: “I couldn’t let a twelve-year-old wander around a circus all by himself!” Tim: “I am NOT twelve! I am thirteen.” Tim also introduces himself to Alfred like “Hello, Mr. Pennyworth, what an honour to meet the man who Batman confides with, the stories you could tell!” and then walks in like that won’t raise any questions. Alfred is confused, Dick is confused, Bruce is confused, Kori is confused, the circus people are confused, the only one not confused is Tim himself because he’s a wild child and he probably had ten contingency plans up his sleeve, just in case.
10/10, pretty good storyline. Batman #440-442 and the New Teen Titans #60-61. It goes like: 440, 60, 441, 61, 442, making it a five parter. It came out in the nineties, I believe, and yes, Dick is wearing his silly little flared collar

Fiasco At The Wayne Gala
Author’s note: This story was written by DC Fanboy and proofread by Maribat fangirl, as a reaction to Style Queen. Maribat fangirl has been hard at work on Chapter 6 of “Hanging by a Thread”, while DC fanboy needed a break from the angst. This is the result, enjoy.
Content warning: A dash of Chloe salt, mostly Audrey managing to piss off everyone. Ships: Jason Todd / Marinette Dupain-Cheng, Dick Grayson / Barbara Gordon, Cassandra Cain / Stephanie Brown, Tim Drake / Bernard Dowd (mentioned), Bruce Wayne / Selina Kyle.
Fiasco at the Wayne Gala
Jason stood at the driveway to Wayne Manor, bored out of his mind as he waited for Marinette to arrive. Another Wayne Gala was underway, with Gotham’s elite pouring into Wayne Manor. Marinette said she would be arriving with her roommate, Zoe. He took out his phone and messaged his girlfriend asking where she was. He was interrupted from his thoughts when a rude woman cleared her throat in front of him. Jason was just able to look up from his phone before he was berated for not paying attention to her.
“You! Valet! How dare you play on your phone when you should be attending to us guests?” the woman screeched. Jason cringed and immediately placed his phone back into his pocket, just as he was about to argue with this banshee that he wasn’t a valet, he was rudely interrupted again with another screech. “How unprofessional! Notify Bruce Wayne that I, Audrey Bourgeois have arrived,” she waved her hand as if to shoo him away. “Now go and park the car before I fire you.” She tossed her keys to Jason, before promptly walking away with her chin held snobbishly high.
Jason looked down at the keys in his hands. He looked at the woman walking away and then towards her car, a jet black convertible. He walked around the vehicle, admiring the exquisite European sports car. A mischievous grin grew on his face as he looked back at the keys in his hand, he jumped in over the door into the car and started its engine. It roared to life, Jason couldn’t resist stamping both his feet on the accelerator and brakes at the same time. The tyres screeched from the friction, spewing smoke behind him. He then spun around, performing a doughnut around the driveway. He left behind a trail of black tyre markings on the asphalt below. Jason stomped his foot onto the accelerator, all the way to the bottom. The engine roared in response with an immediate burst of power, rocketing him out of Wayne Manor, speeding off into the distance.
Meanwhile, Dick waited for the cloakroom attendant to return. In his hands he held Barbara’s coat. Him being the gentleman that he was, he volunteered to bring it to the cloakroom for her. As he patiently waited at the counter, he heard a throat being cleared behind him. He chose to ignore it but then the voice grew louder. He elected to ignore it again, but the person behind him then shouted “You!”
Dick turned in surprise, he looked around to the source of the voice, a woman wearing a black, white and gold ball gown with a white fur coat in her arms. Beside her was, what he assumed to be, her daughter. She wore a matching dress and an entitled look on her face. He looked around, thinking and hoping she was trying to talk to someone else.
The woman then threw her coat at Dick, it draped over his head completely. He looked as if he was wearing an expensive ghost costume, as the coat hung over his head. The rude woman continued, “Now put this in the cloakroom, bring me the ticket when you are done and make sure nothing happens to it.” Dick didn’t say anything at that moment, he hadn’t fully registered what had just happened. “It is an expensive Arctic Fox coat, if anything were to happen to it I will make sure Mr. Wayne fires you.” She stomped off with her daughter in tow, the two walked past Barbara with Haley napping on her lap. The two scoff in disgust at the sight of the dog, “Disgusting, don't you think?” Audrey asked her daughter.
Chloe repeated the sentiment, “Absolutely, Mother.”
Audrey nodded towards her daughter in approval before turning back to face Barbara, “Now get that mangy, misshapen mutt out of here before we file a complaint and get that thing put down!” she threatened before walking away.
Haley whimpered from the scary lady’s yelling, Barbara’s eyes narrowed as her hands moved to cover Haley’s floppy ears, “Oh no you did not just threaten Haley.”
“Where did she go? I can’t see.” Dick asked, the coat still covering his head.
Tim stood near the food table, enjoying canapés and several other hors d'oeuvre while waiting for his date, Bernard, to arrive at the gala. A loud voice caught his attention mid bite, “Is that you Timothy? Oh it is you.” He looked up from his plate to see an obnoxious woman wearing sunglasses indoors, at night.
“Do you remember me? I’m your Aunt Audrey.” the woman spoke.
Tim cringed internally, remembering the woman from past events. A horrible woman if he remembered correctly, always sucking up to his parents, pretending to be their friend. Most of all he remembered the constant attempts at matchmaking, doing whatever she could to pawn her daughter off to the Drake family to gain their favour. He quickly swallowed the appetizer in his mouth and answered “Hello Aunt Audrey.” with a strained smile. His mind was in a flurry, trying to think of a plan to get rid of her.
“Oh how handsome you’ve grown, why don't you spend time with my daughter? I brought her here today.” she suggested, her voice devoid of any sincerity.
Tim slowly backed off, looking around the room hoping to think of a plan to get her to leave him alone. “Well...you see…” he tried to stall for time. He then spotted a familiar plume of blonde hair standing near the performing band and rushed towards her. “Steph! You gotta help me!” he croaked.
She turned in surprise, “Tim? You okay? What's wrong?”
“Pretend to be my date” he blurted out.
“What?” she cried incredulously, “No, I’m dating Cass. What would Bernard say?” she responded angrily.
“Please, I’m begging you. At least until this crazy woman leaves me alone,” Tim explained, “she’s been trying to hook me up with her daughter for years.” Tim grabbed on to her arms and gave her a shake.
“What is this, some kind of fake dating storyline? Did I wake up in one of your K-Dramas?” She answered in a voice dripping with sarcasm. She then peered over his shoulder to see two women in hot pursuit, shoving guests aside. She was already feeling her mood sour from their presence.
“You owe me for this, understand?” Stephanie said, her fingers jabbed Tim in the chest before she pinched the bridge of her nose.
“Thanks, I’ll pay you back some day.” Tim then held out his elbow for Stephanie, which she held on to.
Tim and Steph slowly walked up to Audrey, “Aunt Audrey, I’d like to meet my girlfriend Stephanie Brown.” He gestures towards his friend. Stephanie then kissed Tim in the cheek, trying her absolute best to not show just how irritated she was at the whole situation.
Audrey’s eyes twitched at the sight, but it was unnoticeable under her sunglasses. “Nice to meet you too Stephanie.” she greeted, venom dripping from her voice. “Now if you’ll excuse me, I will attend to other guests. It was nice meeting you again Timothy.” She then stomped away with Chloe in tow.
The two then breathed a sigh of relief as they were left alone, “I need a drink” groaned Stephanie, as she held onto her forehead. “I just hope that Cass didn't see....that.” She turned around to see Cassandra Cain right behind the two, a frown on her face.
Both Tim and Steph both held up their hands, attempting to placate the girl in front of them. “Tim needed a fake date to get rid of a crazy old hag.” explained Steph, as quickly and concisely as she could. Stephanie gave Tim the evil eye, thinking of all the ways she would hurt him if his fiasco cost her her relationship with Cass.
Cass spun her finger on the side of her head. Tim and Steph released a breath they both had been holding, worried of what Cass’ reaction would be. Fortunately for them, Cass was able to see the whole thing. From watching Tim’s desperate plea, to the subtle signs of discomfort as the two spoke to Ms. Bourgeois.
Damian clung to the edges of the party, he detested these events. However, as the son of Gotham’s Billionaire he had no choice but to attend. He wandered around, hands in his pockets, he hoped he could find a familiar face in a sea of strangers. Perhaps Gordon or Grayson would let him pet Haley, it would at least help pass the time better.
For someone unaware of who he was, one could possibly mistake him for a delinquent. Then again, he was the grandson of the Demon. He spotted the dog on Gordon's lap, and made his way towards her. He was then intercepted by a raging woman pointing her finger at him and calling him a trespasser and an intruder.
The gall of this woman, he clenched his teeth and yelled back. "Shut up you hag, I live here!"
The woman expressed a loud gasp, "How dare you call me that? Do you know who I am? I am Audrey Bourgeois, director of Style Queen."
Damian rolled his eyes, "What? A magazine giving fashion advice to shriveled old hags like you?" he shot back.
Audrey Bourgeois snapped, she yelled at the boy at the top of the voice "How dare you!"
Damian shouted back "How dare YOU! Do you know who I am?"
Their shouting match had drawn the entire attention of the ball room, eyes drawn to the argument unraveling before them. Tim and Dick walked closer, hoping to get a clear view of what was happening, and to intervene if necessary. Who knows what would happen with Damian around?
Alfred ignored the chaos unraveling around him as he pushed a food trolley through the ball room. However, a young woman with blonde hair rushed in front of his trolley. "May I help you?" He asked.
"My mother is being harassed by some miscreant, go get rid of him." Chloe growled towards the butler.
"Very well." Alfred complied and began walking to the two shouting their lungs off.
Damian spots the two former Robins approaching and calls out to them, "Grayson, Drake, tell her who I am and get rid of her."
Both Tim and Dick narrowed their eyes, annoyed about how all attention was now on the two of them. The two looked at each other, annoyed at their younger sibling.
Tim had a plan to redirect that attention and knock Hell Spawn down a peg, "Who are you?" he asked.
This infuriated Damian, he roared "Traitor!" and was about to throw fists at Tim before Alfred stepped in between them.
"Please, let us all calm down and enjoy this fine evening." Alfred attempted to calm the entire situation.
"Not until you get rid of him!" Audrey yelled, pointing her finger accusingly at Damian.
"I'm afraid I can't do that Madam." Alfred deadpanned.
Audrey stomped her foot in anger, then she pointed threateningly at Alfred. "You're fired!" she yelled.
Alfred sighs and answers in a monotone voice "Madam, with all due respect, I don't work for you. I work for Master Wayne, and in turn I also work for the young Master Wayne." He gestured to Damian, who stood there angrily with his arms crossed.
Audrey Bourgeois recoiled in shock, she attempted to come up with a retort. Alfred continued, "As per the young master's wishes, please leave the premises immediately."
Audrey gritted her teeth, "Fine. Call the valet to bring my car over." She commanded before marching off.
Alfred and Damian looked at each other, intrigued at the request for a valet. "Pennyworth, we don't have a valet for this evening, do we?" asked Damian.
"No Master Damian, though I suspect we may have a case of grand theft auto on our hands. I shall go check the cameras for our culprit.” Alfred furrowed his eyebrows and left for the Batcave.
Marinette and Zoe stood near a window. Marinette was worried, Jason was supposed to be at the party. He did not answer any of her calls or reply to any of her messages. She paced about, worried Jason was away dealing with an emergency.
Zoe on the other hand was red with embarrassment and shame. She was unfortunately related to the two wrecking balls tearing their way through the gala. She hoped to any and every deity above that they would prevent her mother from noticing her. However, this was to no avail as Zoe was spun around forcefully.
"...Zoe! Why did you not greet your dear mother?" Yelled Audrey.
Zoe began sweating bullets trying to think of an answer while being berated by her mother and half-sister. "I-I uh, I just got here." She shakily attempted to explain herself.
"What are you doing here Marinette?" Growled Chloe, annoyed at how such a clumsy girl would be even invited to this event.
Marinette put the phone back into her purse, "I was supposed to be here with my boyfriend, but I can't find him and he won't answer the phone."
Chloe laughed at the girl's plight, "Who would even date a loser like you? Any sane person would leave you."
Marinette gritted her teeth and clenched her fists, much to Chloe’s delight. Her contained rage and shame were interrupted as Audrey began complaining about a valet.
"Where is my car? Where is that damn stupid valet?" Audrey shouted.
Zoe and Marinette looked at each other, confused at the mention of a valet. "There was a valet?" Marinette asked nervously.
"Of course there was." Audrey told her.
"Ridiculous, utterly ridiculous," ranted Chloe, "He did not even dress properly and now he can't even deliver mother's car. Where is the idiot with the white streak of hair?"
Marinette and Zoe raised an eyebrow at the specific mention of a white streak of hair.
"At least it explains what Jason is up to." Marinette thought to herself, "They won't be getting the car back for a while, if at all."
Alfred had reviewed footage of the driveway earlier that evening, and had discovered Jason was the culprit. Alfred sighed as he picked up the telephone and attempted to call Jason. Just like Marinette, Jason was not answering his calls. Alfred then contacted Jason through his Bat Communicator.
"What's the emergency, Alfred?" Answered Jason.
Alfred could hear the sound of a roaring engine and wind whipping through the air over the communicator. "Master Todd, you are the emergency. Please return the automobile to the manor.
"Alright, I will if you bake me two dozen cookies. Just for me and no one else." Negotiated Jason.
"Very well, Master Todd." agreed Alfred "Now please return the vehicle." Alfred closed the call and made his way to the ballroom.
Jason turned the steering wheel of the car harshly, sending it to a tight drift, making a turn back towards Wayne Manor. "Alright you two, we're getting cookies!" he yelled to his passengers beside him.
"Yaaaaay" cheered Roy along with Lian on his lap.
Back in the ballroom, Alfred asked the guests to quiet down for he was making an announcement. "Esteemed guests, allow me to introduce Bruce Wayne.'' He stepped aside and gestured to Bruce atop the stairs with Selena Kyle. The two slowly walked down the stairs, and thanked each of their guests for attending the gala.
Audrey Bourgeois pushed past several attendees to get a closer look. Other guests gave her space, not wanting to incur her wrath. As she reached Bruce Wayne, she shoved Selena aside and wrapped herself around Bruce's arm. Taking extra attention to make sure her chest rubbed against his arm.
Zoe sped to the bathroom in absolute shame after watching her mother attempt to flirt with Bruce Wayne. Marinette remained by the window, waiting for Jason’s return. She was then approached by Alfred, holding a small basket of fresh cookies. “Good evening Ms. Dupain-Cheng, I just spoke to Master Todd, he is on his way.”
Marinette glanced at Audrey Bourgeois still attempting to flirt with Bruce, “the sooner he gets here the sooner she leaves.” she comments. She notices the cookies in the basket. “Can I have a cookie?” she asked, salivating at Alfred’s baking. Tikki peeked out from her small bag, enticed by the smell of the cookies.
“I’m afraid you’ll have to ask Master Todd, I made these in order to entice him to return the car. Undamaged, I hope.” Alfred explains.
Fortunately Jason arrived at that moment, with Roy and Lian in tow, their hairs were messy from the wind. Alfred gave Marinette the basket of cookies and asked her to give them to Jason while he notified Ms. Bourgeois that her car had arrived. “Jason, where have you been? I've been trying to call you all night!” Marinette yelled.
Jason scratched the back of his head, “about that, some crazy lady thought I was a valet.”
Marinette crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow, “I heard. But that doesn't mean you can take her car.” she huffed.
“ ‘Sup Little Wing,” Dick greeted Jason, “heard about your joyride from Alfred. How was it?”
“Awesome,” Jason replied, reaching into the basket of cookies. Roy, Lian and Tikki were already enjoying their share.
“Now that you’re back, that crazy woman can now go.” Dick said
“What did she do?” asked Jason curiously, hoping there would be a good story.
“For starters, she thought I was the cloakroom attendant. She threw her coat over my face, she pissed Babs off by calling Haley a ‘Misshapen Mutt’. Then she tried to hook her daughter up with Tim. On top of that, she managed to royally piss off Damian.” Explained Dick.
Jason’s jaw dropped while chewing his cookie, a few crumbs landing on the floor. Before doing a spit-take with the cookie in his mouth, he burst out laughing.
Meanwhile Alfred walked up to Audrey Bourgeois, who was still clinging onto Bruce Wayne as if her life depended on it. “Ahem, Madam Bourgeois, your automobile has arrived. Please kindly leave the premises.” interrupted Alfred.
“Come now, Brucie Darling. Are you really going to send me away after all we have been through?” Audrey asked coyly.
Bruce took a deep breath, “Ms. Bourgeois, please leave. As you can see my date, Ms. Kyle, has been very patient with you.” He points with his thumb behind him towards a glaring Selena.
Audrey growled loudly, “Fine, we are leaving.” She stomped out the front door. “You, Valet! What took you so long?” she demanded an explanation from Jason.
Jason spoke to her with his mouth full, spewing crumbs everywhere. “Having dinner, what's it to you?”
Audrey and Chloe recoiled at Jason’s bad manners, as a force of habit Audrey yelled back “I’ll have you fired for this.”
Jason continued undeterred, still answering with his mouth full of cookies. “Well shit, too bad.”
Frustrated at his aloof response, the two quickly got into the car and drove off. Everyone but the two Bourgeois noticed a large scratch and several dents along the side of the sports car as it drove away. “Yeah, uh, forget you saw that. Let’s get back to the party shall we?” suggested Jason. Everyone laughed hysterically at the wild night, now that the human wrecking ball had left.
As Marinette walked back into the manor, she pouted at Jason for keeping her waiting. “Come on now Pixie, are you still mad at me?” Jason asked.
“Yes, you stole someone’s car, drove off to who knows where. You didn’t answer any of my messages or calls. I was really looking forward to enjoying the Gala with you.” Marinette complained.
Jason ran in front of Marinette, stopping her in her tracks. “Look I’ll make it up to you Pixie, I promise. How about a dance then? The night is still young.” Jason said, offering his hand to Marinette.
Marinette contemplates for a moment before reaching out to hold his hand. “Fine, but this doesn’t mean I forgive you yet.”
The two then walked to the centre of the ballroom and danced the night away.

So long-time followers know that I’m a HUGE Dick/Kyle Rayner shipper for like, twenty years now, given that one time they interacted in The Obsidian Age JLA story and said to each other “If we get out of this alive, I’m totally going to hug you” and I mean, I say that’s basically the same thing as saying “totally going to kiss you” because duh, it just is, shut up, and ever since then my brain went oooh okay what IF though, and then decided it was officially obsessed, as it is wont to do, and ever since then I’ve been like Dick/Kyle for life, etc, etc.
Look, as you can see, I put a LOT of thought and detailed planning into my longterm decisions and fixations.
ANYWAY.
So here’s an old Dick/Kyle headcanon of mine for no other reason than because I want to and I can:
So Kyle is actually around the same age as Dick and the OG Titans, from what little context clues there are for ages back at the time he debuted. And Kyle was from the start two things in particular, aside from y’know, a freelance graphic designer and artist.
1) He was a HUGE superhero fanboy, and not shy about it.
2) He was obsessed with flying ever since he was a kid. When he first became Green Lantern, flying was the very first skill he mastered, and he said he figured the reason he took to it so easily was because of all the time he’d spent dreaming of flying ever since he was a kid. Not so coincidentally, his favorite superhero was said to be Superman.
Sound like anyone else we know?
SO. HEADCANON:
Imagine this young, ordinary boy with no superpowers, an obsession with superheroes, and dreams of flight.
Imagine his reaction to the debut of the first Robin. An allegedly ordinary boy without superpowers of his own, who nevertheless was partner to the Batman himself, and kept up with all these much older, actual superpowered superheroes as well as becoming the leader of his own age-group of superheroes, most of whom eclipsed him in powers as well. With this Robin being particularly noted for his aptitude for flight, even while still just an ordinary human. As likely to be seen soaring through the air, easily spotted against any background in his bold, fearless signature palette of eye-catching red, green and yellow. Doing the kind of thing, being KNOWN for doing the kind of thing, that put him in the same breath as people like Superman, heroes who needed to ACTUALLY be able to fly, to, well. Fly.
Imagine Dick Grayson as Robin being Kyle Rayner’s first crush, before he even realizes he’s gay or bi, before he has any idea who Robin might be under the mask. But he’s there in Kyle’s imagination long before Kyle becomes a hero himself, building a foundation brick by brick over years and years, of knowledge, awareness, that you don’t have to be born with powers to become a hero. That ordinary men like them can also be extraordinary. All it takes.....
Is strength of will.
Imagine a young Kyle Rayner aging into the adult who will eventually become the last and only Green Lantern the universe will have to rely upon for years to come......shaped in part, by the subconscious litany in the back of his mind, keeping company with that longtime crush of his on that mysterious masked man boy....”what would Robin do?”
And then imagine upon becoming a hero, becoming the last Green Lantern, gaining the power of flight and mastery of one of the most powerful weapons in the universe as well as a seat at the table with all these other heroes of legend, that he’d followed since he was a child.....
He happens to finally meet Nightwing, the man who was once the Robin that was his first crush, one that never fully went away, the guy who’s been sitting next to all these luminaries since Kyle was in middle school, and all with less powers than even Kyle himself has now, and throughout all that time, in spite of all that, he’s still here, still going strong, and even more respected now than he was back then, and Kyle realizes....
Oh no, he’s as amazing as I always imagined he was. Wtf, wtf, this is the worst, what do I dooooooooooooooo.
And imagine the wielder of the universe’s powerful weapon, one of the premiere superheroes of the world and who will go on to become like, one of the most legendary Green Lanterns of all time....
Just. Turning absolutely tongue-tied around Nightwing, his first boyhood crush. Just absolutely losing his cool every time he so much as walks in the room. Like oh no, I gotta go, my mom’s calling me I mean I gotta save the world I mean oh crap that’s a wall. This all-powerful, utter DORK of a man-child just.....unable to tear his eyes away from the suddenly oh-so-compelling sight of his own boots when Nightwing’s in the room because umm duh, what if he like saw Kyle LOOKING at him, Kyle would have to die, hello? His cheeks just suddenly igniting into an utter inferno when Nightwing’s walking down the hall of the Watchtower in his direction and Kyle has to spin on his heel and remember that super important thing he left in his room even while Wally laughs and points out Kyle’s room is in the other direction, PAST Nightwing.
Imagine all the people Kyle is closest with......Wally, from their time on the JLA together, Donna, his ex-girlfriend and an absolute troll, Roy, who is Kyle’s BFF’s older brother and former leader from Kyle’s brief stint with the Titans.....all of whom are Dick’s best and oldest friends....like, all slowly but surely becoming aware of Kyle’s huge and hugely embarrassing crush on their longtime BFF, and just.....fucking LIVING for it. Its the absolute most hilarious thing any of them have ever seen, and they never fail to capitalize on this, but also at the same time are not shy about not-so-subtly pushing him in Dick’s direction because Kyle is a sweetheart and they all think he’d actually be good for Dick, who would absolutely be good for Kyle as well.
And with them all privately thinking that as great as Dick and Kory were together, or Dick and Babs, with Dick’s previous relationships, there’s always been a kind of unspoken undertone where people are like.....the impressive thing about Dick is that he can keep up with someone like Kory, who outstrips him so vastly in power and strength. There’s something nice, Dick’s friends think, about the idea that here is this supremely powerful superhero who’s like.....not even THINKING about how much more powerful than Dick is, because he has so much respect for everything Dick’s done since the time he was a kid, that he’s like, OMG I can’t believe that *I* can keep up with HIM. He can of course, like none of them are in doubt about Kyle’s own capabilities and importance, its just....nice, they kinda agree. To see Dick so admired and desired by someone who is awed just by HIM, by who he IS.
So they’re like....Roy: *gently but firmly hipchecks Kyle into Dick’s path at a superhero event OH NO HOW DID THAT HAPPEN IM SO CLUMSY OOPS MUCH SHAME UPON MY FAMILY* and Donna: *has zero shame and Amazonian modesty and as mentioned is an absolute troll and lives to embarrass her friends and is all like haaaaaaaaaaaave I mentioned that Kyle is great in bed wait no come back Dick this is a good story why are you blushing I don’t understand* and Wally: *is that friend of Kyle’s who is kinda a douche to Kyle and gets a certain amount of enjoyment out of making his life miserable so who better to accidentally sabotage or crash Kyle’s dates with various unworthies so as to make sure he’s available for the totally-not-a-blind-date-or-at-all-engineered-superhero-teamup he, Roy and Donna are coordinating for the two*
Anyway.
This has been a Dick/Kyle headcanon. This is the conclusion of a Dick/Kyle headcanon. This is a normal ending to a post. The end.

Excerpt:
Once the dust settled, the actual saboteur/murderer was in prison, and Dick was the co-owner of Haly's. The circus was heading to Vegas for a semi-permanent gig arranged through Dick's connections, to a hopeful future, or at least a stable one. His first family was safe, except the ones who had been murdered, and no, Dick would never really be over that.
Then, finally, he had a chance to deal with the kid. Tim Drake. From Gotham. A twelve-year-old boy, traveling alone, who had somehow, for some reason, tracked down Dick Grayson all on his own.
It was all kinds of weird.
He took the boy to a diner in the small town they were stopping at. It was midafternoon, the place nearly empty except for them, and Dick took a corner booth where they could talk somewhat privately. He needed to suss out who this kid was and exactly how he ought to deal with him. He was of half a mind to report him to the police, or maybe to CPS, but he felt obligated to hear him out first.
They got burgers and milkshakes, and the kid ate eagerly, chattering the whole time about the details of the case and how cool Dick was for solving it. Dick watched him with bemusement, mostly, sipping his milkshake and trying not to be endeared. He had to keep reminding himself that this boy was a nosy fanboy, not the cutest kid he'd ever seen. But, well, he was kind of both.
Eventually Tim seemed to remember what he'd come for in the first place. He paused his chattering, blue eyes wide, and slapped his hand on the table, then stared into Dick's eyes. "Dick! You have to come back to Gotham! Bruce needs you. He needs you really bad."
Dick drew a deep breath and shook his head. "Why do you say that? And how do you know Bruce? How do you know me, kid?"
Tim gave him a quizzical look, like the question didn't make sense. "Of course I know who Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson are."
Right, tiny little stalker. Dick grimaced.

Conner 🤝 Kyle
Defaulting to jokes when they don’t know what to do or are uncomfortable.
Okay but seriously, that’s intresting that Conn is shy at all, like it makes sense considering his history though it does make his smoothness when he gets the handle on flirting a bit more ironic. Kyle could diplomacy his way out of a paper bag, but still becomes a complete mess when his long term boyfriend like tells him he’s hot and that he loves him. The irony of this is not lost on either of them. (You know that Kyle uses “like” like it’s the fucking catch all phrase) also...yeah to Conner having a deep voice. Okay also yes like the idea of him reading aloud and Kyle curling up next to him to listen to the story but also just his heartbeat, that’s really fucking tender. Like...idk? I just in general imagine Kyle more of the “sit in my significant other’s lap” kind of guy, like...not just with Conn, I fully admit to thinking he did it with Alex too.
Kyle admits Conn is the only man on earth that could ever pull off a bald head like he does. BUT SBSIWBDIDJSI Conn luring Kyle in with combing through his hair as he convience him to cut it, betrayed by the boyfriend. Like it’s not that he even looks bad, he looks great, it’s just if he keeps it Long he will forget to put it up and it gets in his eyes, and that’s not very economic in a firefight. I do think manbun Kyle could win...
Both of them are such dorks. You might not see it in Conn because he’s generally quieter but he was literally his dad’s fanboy. Oh Conn.
Okay, and directing Guy Garnder in peace talks? Piece of cake. Stopping a millennia long civil war within a week cause you’re the only GL around and you have other planets to help? Doesn’t even break a sweat.
Accepting heartfelt compliments from his boyfriend? Kyle is a stuttering disaster who’s never said a word in his life.
Kyle says like to emphasize everything. It is his catch-all it’s just gotta be.
Conn having a deep voice also makes so much sense to me. I figure he stutters over his words but his voice is measured while he does it and his shoulders are held high head up but his eyes are always drifting off to the side. The boy is nervous around strangers, and other heroes, and well everyone. Even family sometimes when he doesn’t know how to help. i imagine Conn is someone who likes to think before he talks so when he’s put on the spot he can struggle.
Kyle sitting on Alex while she looks through her camera roll or just curling up on her in bed. She doesn’t mind it she works out after all and Kyle is so warm. Just he would. More on my Kyle is a lost kitten metaphor @ 8
Heh Kyle with long hair is so funny. And just one more chaotic bisexual thing he and Dick Grayson would have in common, hair really too long to fight with.
Kyle would get his hair cut in a fight and pout about it for weeks.

Batman Movie Idea
I’ve been thinking a lot about the Matt Reeves movie, and how we might actually finally get a Robin on the big screen (I don’t know Batman and Robin(1997), who’s she?).
At first, I was thinking it would be amazing to get Tim Drake. I think we can all agree that he’s the least represented of the Batbros in the media, and seeing him debut in the DCEU along Battinson would be epic, to say the least.
But then I got to thinking--you know who we see even less of? You know who’s got just as much (if not more) quipping power as Dick Grayson? And a dubious, unprivileged past like Jason Todd? And the desperate need to prove themselves like Damian Wayne? That’s right, ladies and gentleman, I’m talking about--
--Stephanie Brown.
In the comics, Batman is just as reluctant to have a female Robin at his side as I’m sure a lot of rabid fanboys are to see one up on screen. (And that’s reason enough, honestly, but I’m not done)
But can you imagine? A Stephanie Brown origin story that doesn’t revolve around Tim Drake?
Picture this:
The movie opens with Batman going about his business--crushing it in the board room by day, and kicking butt by night. He’s tired, and lonely, and thinking about his other partner(s), who left. (Setting up that Nightwing movie people keep talking about, and possibly allowing for Jason and/or Tim to come in)
Alfred can tell Bruce is struggling, and continues to hound him about maybe possibly considering dating around? Maybe getting a dog? Just so that he’s not so alone. Bruce shrugs off all of these with the ‘No, I’m Batman, I’ll work and live and die alone, justice not happiness’ schpeel we all know and recognize.
But then one night, he’s out on patrol. And he comes across another person fighting crime in a cape:
Spoiler.
She’s in a laughably cheap homemade costume, and is basically just a tiny little five-foot-nothing child. A kid who saw superheroes on the news and decided ‘hey, looks like I’ve found my calling in life’. But even so, she’s...doing a decent job? She seems to know what she’s doing, but Batman swoops in and tells her to beat it.
And Stephanie, our stubborn Stephanie, says ‘screw that’ and stealthily follows him home.
Bruce goes about his everyday business, crushing it in the board room and handling CEOmanship like a Boss. But when he comes home, Alfred is missing and the secret door to his cave is hanging wide open.
So he makes his way down, and stops short to see Stephanie Brown with her feet on his desktop, eating a plain Eggo waffle and watching anime on the computer’s giant monitors. She wheels around slowly, like a supervillain reveal but with more waffles and less ‘actual threat’.
Alfred is tied up nearby and is giving Bruce a Look.
And Stephanie’s all, ‘Hey, Bats, I followed you to your secret lair. Toldja I knew what I was doing. Anyway, I raided your fridge, but I caught this intruder for you, so I guess we’re even?’
Bruce meanwhile is doing his Best not to have an aneurysm.
He tries to convince her to hang up her cape, but after a lengthy argument and a lot of shouting down, Steph manages to wrangle a deal out of Bruce. Three weeks. If she can prove to him that she’s strong enough to fight on her own in three weeks, he’ll let her do the Spoiler thing without interference.
Bruce has his own conditions, though. He has to keep an eye on her and make sure she’s keeping to their agreement. So she’ll do it wearing the Robin uniform, or not at all.
He and Alfred head upstairs, and Steph stews in her chair, proving that its totally possible to eat a waffle ‘angrily’.
The first night on patrol doesn’t go as planned. Steph’s in Dick’s old uniform, and it doesn’t fit. She’s trying her hardest, but it seems like Bruce is out to let her fail. (Not because he’s malicious, but because he wants her to understand just how dangerous this life is, and he doesn’t want her to choose it.) They return at the end of the night battered and exhausted. Steph flops down and Bruce asks her ‘Are you sure you want to go through with this? I won’t blame you if you don’t’ for the millionth time. Steph tells him to eff off.
As soon as he does just that, she takes off, still wearing the Robin suit. She climbs to the top of a building and looks out at the city. Then bursts into tears.
Unbeknownst to her, someone else just stopped into Gotham to see some old friends and brush up with their old mentor to get his help on a tricky case. Someone who happened to be swinging around nearby.
Enter, Nightwing, stage left.
He demands to know why there’s someone else wearing the uniform--and his uniform, to boot. At first, he’s confrontational and defensive, remembering what happened to Jason or/and Tim.
But then Steph explains that the Robin schtick is just so she can be Spoiler. All she wants is to stop people like her dad. Do some good.
And about five minutes into the argument, Dick melts.
He goes into full-on Big Brother mode. Trains her behind Bruce’s back (cue epic training montages with acrobatic flips and so forth) and offers to get her a better costume, and be her real mentor.
(The latter offer is one that Steph declines. She can handle the vigilante thing just fine on her own, thank you very much.)
Still, Steph spends her days with Dick--learning and hanging out, and doing the whole Sibling Thing (bonus points if Babs or Tim, or especially Cass make cameos) and spends her nights with Bruce. Who, though not for lack of trying, continuously fails to throw Steph off her game.
(Keep in mind that all of this is going on between the lines of the actual story--which of course has to be Bats looking into his own case. This is the Batman movie, after all, not a Robin movie. Sadly.)
But then Bruce cracks his case, and lands right into a trap set by the Main Baddie (tbd, but wouldn’t it be great if we got Cluemaster as a side-villain?), leaving it up to Robin and Nightwing to come to his rescue. (Bonus points if those aforementioned cameos suit up and join in).
After the boss fight ends and the dust settles, Batman nods and says something along the lines of “So Nightwing’s been training you. No wonder you improved so much.”
And Dick just shakes his head. “Are you kidding me? I barely had to do anything. We mostly hung out and talked. She’s a great sparring partner, though, B. You should give her more credit.”
Everyone turns on Steph. “Then how do you know what you’re doing?”
And she’s all “You’re kidding, right? My dad’s the Cluemaster. I’ve been training for this since I was seven years old.”
“Ohhhh. So your dad taught you to fight.”
“My dad didn’t teach me anything, guys. I saw what he was doing, and I saw the people who were getting hurt, and I decided to do something about it. Took a little inspiration from the flying Bat I saw outside my window at night, and made my own moniker.”
Dick laughs. “Looks like you’re a role model, B.”
“Nah, not him.’ Stephanie smirks. “I’m talking about Batgirl.”
So in the end, Bruce lets Steph keep Spoiler, and gives her a new-and-improved suit as an apology. The Robin mantle sits empty, but everybody agrees that its for the best. Maybe someday, it’ll be used again, but for now, there’s enough capes in Gotham.
For now, they’ve got a city to run.
(cue end credit scene)
A little boy in a lavish room is watching TV on a luxurious bed. He’s transfixed by the image of Batman and Robin fighting side by side on the news.
The screen turns off, and his mother stands in the doorway, remote outstretched. A disapproving frown marks her face.
“And just what do you think you’re doing, habibi?”
The little boy sits up straight and says, “Is it true? He’s found another?”
The woman tsks and strides across the room. Deftly tucking her son into bed, and smoothing the sheets around him, she explains that, no, the girl has chosen not to be Robin. Their plans are still on track, so there isn’t cause for worry.
The boy nestles into the pillow, but looks up at the ceiling. “Do you think he will recognize me? When the time comes?”
The woman, Talia Al Ghul, leans in and presses a gentle kiss to her son’s forehead. “Oh, habibi,” she whispers.
“A father always knows his son.”
The camera pans up, following the boy’s gaze to the ceiling, where mosaics of bat-winged creatures fly in circles.

Batboys scenario: Secret Model Girfriend. 1/2
The following is a non profit fan based story Batman, Red hood, Nightwing etc. belongs to DC Comics please support the official release.
_
I gain no profit from this nor do I own anything other then OCs and whatever sprouts from my imagination. Thanks for reading!
Batboys Scenario 1: secret model girlfriend.
Boys are dating a nerdy, clumsy and very plain looking girl, not knowing she's a very gorgeous model they've been obsessing over and one day they're invited to a shoot to meet s/n [Stage name] and let's just say the boys say some pretty hurtful shit, needless to say they get the biggest shock of their life when the model sounds an awful lot like their girlfriend!
Dick Grayson: Kori got him backstage he was so giddy about meeting [S/n] he has a lot her posters on his old bedroom back at the manor and a few cleverly hidden magazines hidden back at his and Y/n apartment, His girlfriend has no idea he's here...His eyes wonder around the set ladies of every shape and various stated of dress eye him, some flirtatiously, other curiously and few could care less.
You meet a lot of attractive men in this industry so the more seasoned models have learned *not to flatter yourself, chances are he's just window shopping or fishing for attention.* Then she came into his view [s/n] she looked more stunning in person than on paper.
She wore a dark blue cover dress over a white bikini, her short/long glossy hair was flowing, her plump red lip were curled into a friendly smile that brighten the room her eyes were covered by sunglasses, Dick felt butterflies in his stomach as the [y/height] woman approached the he caught wisps of her perfume in the air...
that caused Dick to stall for moment. It was familiar he quickly pushed that aside and introduced himself. Y/n being the ever good actress she was used her s/n's [accent], They hit it off pretty well they talked about the show and her up coming tour and eventual somehow got on to relationships. "So.. Kori says you have a girlfriend, what's she like?"
the model asked as the raven haired snorted, not his cutesy 'OMG I thought you'd never ask!~' snicker this was a sarcastic snort. "Oh...yeah, she's nothing special... pretty boring really." Kori and S/n both gawked at as he continued. "It's not serious, I'm only with Y/n because of a dar-" he was suddenly cut off by a seething Kori "Richard! that is Y/n!" she snarled ready to pummel him.
Dick's stomach suddenly felt like it was full of sand a lumped formed throat as the familiar little hiccups his girlfriend would make when she was trying hard not breakdown crying filled the very quiet set. he swallowed hard as S/n took off her wig and sunglasses letting her natural hair fall over her face, as her teary e/c eyes looked up at him in betrayal,
before Dick could say anything she pulled the keys to their apartment off her key-ring and threw them at him before running off sobbing, Kori went after her while all the other models gave the flabbergasted man the evil-eye, now Dick really was living up to his name sake.
Jason Todd: Artemis was your bodyguard when she wasn't with the outlaws, Jason got curious where the amazon was getting her extra cash from and followed her. to say he was excited was an understatement, S/n was he dream girl,
he had her posters, magazines and a few of her interviews saved on his phone, he used to and still does have a few inappropriate dreams about her, So, when he saw the Amazon talking the the Model who was in a red bunny girl outfit; Jason was over the moon.
While Artemis was very against the idea of letting Jason meet S/n..."He's going to hurt you." she said in hush tone, But you brushed it off saying that you've known Jason since before he was the hood and knew he wouldn't do anything!
Sure, he's S/n fanboy, but he loves you...Or so you thought! It's seemed like a normal interaction he asked for S/n's autograph and talked about her her travels and shoots then...got bad, Fast!
One second Jason was talking about his time in Japan talked about the cherry blossom festival how the petals reminded him of pink snow, the model felt a little off by this...he never talked to Y/n about this maybe thi...no, she was being silly!
"Oh, I've always wanted to go during that time, but scheduling is a bitch." She suddenly Jason's hand on hers the model cocked a brow looked up at the raven haired man, He said he was in the country for an escort mission got to spend a few night in a traditional hotel in the mountains...it was pretty relaxing.
"And it just so happens they gave me a free trip for two the next time I was there, how about it?" he smirked as S/n pulled away from him "Artemis tells me you have a girlfriend why d-" Jason's smirk immediately dropped then S/n mentioned Y/n who was hoping Jason was just joke flirting with her alter-ego.
But was soon throw out the window along with your broken heart! "Oh..her..Yeah, she a real prude, just dead weight" Y/n felt her anger boil over as he continued talking shit about her.
Y/n didn't even realize she punched Jason in the face, till she heard a crunch, and felt pain erupt in her left hand that was now broken. When her vision cleared she saw Jason on the ground clutching his now broken nose looking up at her shocked. "What the fuck? You broke my nose!" he snarled as the model took off her wig and sunglasses and his eyes widened in horror and awe as his girlfriend glared down at him tearful and angry.
"Fuck your nose! and fuck you!" she spat before running off, Artemis looked between them both before helping Jason up as she glared the raven haired man in anger and disappointment. "I told her this was a bad Idea..." the amazon huffed as she gathered Y/n's things and went looking for her, all while Jason just stood there too stunned to move as his mind kept repeating...
*Y/n is S/n...Y/n is S/n,* Y/n his small mousy (ex) girlfriend who he's known and trusted since his Robin days, was the pin-up model glaciers would sprout a pair of legs for, and earn a degree in linguistics just the for the off chance that she'll talk them?!...and he just fucking ruined it!
Tim Drake: Stephanie who found out S/n's true identity by accident, was the one who convinced Y/n to tell Tim about her other life, he was getting suspicious about her business trips, and late night phone calls...However, every time she had the opportunity to say something she'd chicken out or something would come up for either Y/n or Tim leaving it for another day of cancelled plans or Tim giving her the silent treatment for standing him up.
Then she came out of her bathroom to find Tim going through her phone! "What are you doing?!" The h/c demanded the raven hared man lips formed a tight line. "Who's Grant?" he huffed ignoring her question. "Nobody, just a co-worker!" she hissed trying to snatch her phone back but Tim kept it out of her reach. "Really? then how come I've never met him?" his eyes narrowed suspiciously.
"He's been overseas the last few months, It's a lunch meeting we're discussing filming locations?" Y/n said wasn't a complete lie she did say she worked in a photography industry, And Grant was a fellow model who also doubled as location organizer for the firm, But Tim was still skeptical he could tell she wasn't being truthful.
"Really, Just a co-worker?"
" Is that a problem?"
"Yeah..actually you're my girlfriend, why hell is he calling you his sweetheart and baby?!"
"Sorry, I didn't realize my friends needed your permission to call me nicknames!"
Y/n snapped as Tim's jaw set indicating he was furious. "OH! So, now he's a friend, what the hell happen to just a Co-worker?!" The raven haired man demanded as the h/c flinched at his raised voice, This wasn't fair this wasn't fair at all! "I don't see that the big deal is, I don't give you shit for hanging out with Stephanie or Cassie?!" She huffed bringing his exes into the mix big mistake..."Well at least I can trust them!?" Tim seethed shoving passed her.
"What are you talking about?!" Y/n demanded she already knew where he was going with this. "I know you're cheating Y/n, So just save us both the god damn time and just tell me!" Tim snarled as Y/n looked affronted she knew it was coming, but it still stung that her Timmy would assume that she was sleeping around!
"Fine! You want the truth Tim? Well here it is, I'm S/n!" She said crossing her arms as Tim gave her a once over a sneered. "The model?...Right, If you're gonna play around at least make up a better lie then that..." He spat storming out of her apartment... leaving a sobbing Y/n in his wake.
Later while on patrol with Spoiler, Tim let her know that he and Y/n broke up when the blond demanded why? He told her how he went through Y/n's phone and found her texting Grant and how the H/c had the audacity to lie and tell him she was S/n the pin-up girl! "Tsk, can you believe her?" he snorted then noticed how nervous Steph suddenly got.
"Uh, Tim she wasn't lying..." the blond said meekly as Red robin looked at her incredulously. "Wh-What you mean?" he asked feeling clammy all of the sudden, Stephanie explained that Y/n pulled a Hannah Montana and really was S/n..Grant is gay and her set manager they really were just co-workers...
She was actually going tell him in the morning before she left for her meeting, But he had to be jealous, distrustful and nosy...then the reality slowly crashing down on him like bucket of cold water... He broke up with Y/n over nothing, he went back to her apartment intending to apologize, but it was locked down tight and Y/n was gone...
Adult! Damian Wayne: Y/n was bored she was stuck at home playing Skyrim and eating junk food, "Well I can't be having a worst time than Dami." she mumbled to herself, her boyfriend Damian Wayne was stuck at some conference in Bludhaven...the poor guy. After doing the thieves guild quest line, the h/c got bored and decided to watch some TV when she switch over she was met with a Vicky Vale live at a Wayne charity gala...
*Gala? Damian never mentioned a Gala.." Y/n was confused as she saw Dick,Tim even Jason on the screen with dates...Did Dami lie? She though for a moment. No, he's up-tight but Damian isn't a liar...The h/c stomach dropped when she saw her boyfriend on screen with some d-listed blonde wrapped around his arm.
Y/n's face contorted into anger as she shut the TV off, What the hell! why didn't he tell her about the gala?...She looked at her reflection from the floor length mirror, She was wearing her big glasses, no make up and a Transformers t-shirt...Was Damian embarrassed of her? the h/c felt tears welling in her eyes then shook her head and wiped them.
She'll show him! But first she needs a date! Y/n pick up her phone and called her friend Robbie Reyes (ghost Rider)."Ey, Robbie! It's N/n are you still in Gotham?" The Latino man confirmed that yes he was still in the city. "Good, there's this charity thing downtown and I need a date."
She smirked as the mechanic said he'll go but, he doesn't have anything to wear. "Oh,don't worry about that I got you covered." Y/n already called her stylist and the formal wear shop they got there the same Time Robbie did.
by the time they were done getting dress S/n and Robbie Reyes looked like a Hollywood couple. She in a dark purple gown with gold flowers decorating the front and dipped low in the back, and Robbie was in dark tux with a matching purple shirt and gold tie.
"Remember, I'm only doing because we're friends...And you promised an autographed poster to Gabe." the Latino chided causing the model smile that's Robbie always big teddy bear when it comes to his little brother! "Don't worry I haven't forgotten.." She eyed him int the tux and smirked Y/n was Robbie was fine.~ "Y'know you should clean up more often! you'd be a real chick magnet...you could use a girlfriend."
the man next to her snorted and rolled his eyes annoyed "You sound like my brother..." he sighed as they pulled into the Hotel parking lot a few men whistled in amazement at the black 69 Charger. the Valet took Robbie's keys eagerly, but not before the Latino gave him the 'don't hurt my car!' speech causing Y/n to roll her eyes...Men and their cars, She doesn't get it and never will, She looped her arms around his left arm as Vicky Vale zeroed in on them.
"Oh, speaking of late arrivals S/n has just arrived with a Bad boy!~ could love be in the air in Gotham?" The reporter questioned as S/n fans booed or cheered as as the 'couple' walked along the carpet. "Is it always this bright and loud?" Robbie whispered in the model's ear cringing as some girls squealed at the little interaction and the camera flashes went off around them.
"Yeah, but it get's pretty quiet once you get inside." She whispered back to the camera's it looked like they were flirting, as the blond reporter asked about their relationship, "Sorry, everyone but, Mr. Reyes is just dear friend of mine, he's got more important things going on then dating at the moment." The [fake/h/c] explained with a tight smile Robbie confirmed causing Vicky to pout as the two got inside.
Robbie was immediately blindsided by a man Y/n recognized as Jason Todd who started asking the mechanic about that sweet 69' outside! the two men started mingling and talking about cars.
while Y/n rolled her eyes and wandered the ballroom the model surveyed the room for Damian and found him and his little tart...Taking a deep breath Y/n made her way over to them, when she got close enough to hearing what they were saying.
her heart hurt as the man she loved told his fake entourage how plain and frigid she was not worth bragging about! Dick who knew about S/n looked very uncomfortable and disappointed in his little brother. then he noticed you and looked stunned to see you there, Damian must told them you were sick or something... feeling more determined Y/n stood up straighter and spoke.
"Really now, because an hour ago you were telling me how much you loved me..." She hissed in her normal voice Damian stiffened shoved his date away and whirled and looked around in a panic.
"Down here love." She said in her S/n accent his green eyes looked at her bemused as his date and 'Friends' all looked at Damian like he grew three heads. "Dude, your dating S/n??!" One of the men said befuddled remembering all the crap he was saying about his girl...they all pictured some librarian spinster type! Not one of Gotham's top desirable women.
"More like he was...oh, here take this I don't need it anymore." she huffed taking off the necklace he'd giving her for their anniversary and handed it to Damian, She got close enough for him to see some of her natural h/c peeking out from under her wig and the outline of her contact lenses. "I...But." Damian still in shock tried to figure out how to talk,
It was too late he dug his grave and he dug it deep. "It's been fun, Now if you'll excuse me I gotta find my date and go..." She said calmly and walked into the crowd disappearing in the sea people, Damian snapped out of his stupor and followed after Y/n just in time see her get in a black muscle car with an unknown male and drove off into the night....

Being a Wayne and Dating Peter Paker Would Include:
*gif belongs to spiderling-parker*
Author’s Notes(s): hey cuties! Someone requested this a while ago and I completely forgot that it was in my drafts. Just a side note requests are closed! See my latest post for more info xx
Summary: You just so happen to be dating Peter Parker, but what happens when your freakily overprotective brother’s find out?
Warning(s): swearing and fluff
Being a Wayne and Dating Peter Parker would include:
so like
we all know that the Wayne’s have been through some tough shit
So y’all are really closely knit
That being said, you have four really overprotective brothers who would do anything to stop you from dating.
PsSh
That never stopped you honey ️
So let’s say, you’ve been dating Peter for around a year.
He’s never been to your house or even met your family bc you know™️ he wouldn’t last a second around your brothers
“(Y/N)? Why haven’t I met your family? Don’t you think it’s kinda weird?”
“Peter honey, if you value your life, you won’t ask questions.”
One day his curiosity gets the best of him and he ends up at your address.
Big mistake™️
Curiosity killed the cat bro
Unfortunately for him, you’re not the one who opens the door.
So smol bby boy peter’s quaking in his boots when short stack Damian appears at the door with a scowl on his face.
“Who the fuck are you?”
*in the distance* “Damian don’t fucking swear”
“JASON GOD DAMMIT, DAMI WHOS AT THE DOOR??”
So then Jason, Dick and Dami are all at the door and poor bby Peter kinda stutters out a response.
“Uh hi, I’m peter. (Y/N)’s boyfriend”
LOLOL
Before anyone knew what was happening Damian’s launching himself at Peter who kinda does his spidey thing and backflips into a tree or some shit
And Jay + Dick who are holding Dami back are kinda like wtf
They accidentally let go of their younger brother who’s basically barking up a tree at your almost sobbing boyfriend
And Tim kinda just walks up to the front door with a coffee in hand
Takes one look at the situation
Sips his coffee
And goes back inside bc a bitch ain’t involved
So that’s how Peter met your family.
Dick Grayson:
the nice brother™️
would probably try to suppress his other protective brother mode
would lowkey be the biggest shipper ever
When dick meets peter it’s probably like:
- “oh (Y/N) he’s so cute!!”
- “LoOK at hIM heS adorABle”
Peter doesn’t know whether he should be scared or he should be relieved
Dick totally supervises your dates
Or tries to
He’ll probably be sitting at the back of the cafe you’re in and Peter points him out like
“Uh... M-mr Grayson we can see you”
*face palm*
Probably holds hands with you both after that.
Finds you and peter’s relationship very cute
Sometimes you wonder if he’s the one dating Peter
They’re always on ‘friend dates’
Probably been on more dates with Peter than you have
“Dick buddy, I’m gonna need my boyfriend back”
“You can’t separate us sis, this is true love”
Jason Todd:
the cool brother™️
probably gives the “if you hurt her, I’ll find you talk”
He’ll like, take Peter to his weapons room or something and be like “see this baby here, she’s my favourite. First time I shot right through some guy’s skull”
And you’re just there with rolling eyes like “oh my god Jason”
And poor Peter would be so shook™️
But you’d be all cute holding hands and brushing your fingers over his knuckles to calm him
Jay would gag
You’d get to a particular weapon and Petey would point to it “Natasha has that”
“Natasha as in, the, blackwidow?”
And Peter would look at you with a confused gaze and you’d shrug as he nodded to Jason
Jason would scream™️
Blackwidow fanboy at your service fam
He’d go on regular trips to see the avengers with Peter just to meet Natasha
Would probably cry
He’s really chill after that tbh
Would probably regularly take you and Peter for ice cream
Does not enjoy watching you guys suck face
Pretends to throw up most of the time
“If you guys kiss in front of me one more time I’ll probably die for the second time”
Tim Drake:
The fanboy brother™️
I feel like Tim probably knew you were dating someone he just didn’t know that it was the sPidErMaN
Probably did a whole background check on Peter before he even got to the front door.
He’d be the only brother who’s actually nervous to meet your boyfriend
So before pete even opens his mouth, Tim’s just spewing information about him like
“Peter Benjamin Parker. Age 16”
“Born July 1st, favourite colour blue and -“
“Tim... Tim you’re scaring him”
“Right sorry”
You’d leave for like a brief second to grab a drink and when you come back they’re both nerding out over tech
It’s actually adorable seeing both of your boys getting excited over Peter’s webshooters and stuff
You totally don’t take pictures
On the nights you’d have dates Peter would show up like two hours early just to sit with Tim and talk about Wayne and Tony’s tech
Call it a gossip circle if you will
“Oh hi Petey! I wasn’t expecting you for a little while-“
“Yeah, I’m here to see Tim?”
-_-
Like Jay, I don’t think he’d appreciate you guys’ PDA
he’d probably be fine with it after a few shots of espresso
Damian Wayne:
The intimidating brother™️
First of all, let’s get this straight.
He won’t admit it, but Dami adores you. He loves you more than anything.
As his older sister, you’ve always been there to protect him. You made him feel at home.
So in his mind, Damian basically lives to protect you. He views you as the only pure thing in this world and would do anything to preserve that.
You’ve had your heart broken before and Dami hated to see you go through such a heartbreak
So forgive him for being a little overprotective
Hahaha
Did I say little? I meant a lot
When he first meets Peter, shit hits the fan.
He just doesn’t like the way Peter holds your hand so confidently and tbh he really wants to rip it off.
He does everything he can to deter Peter from dating you but for some reason it’s not working
But he can tell he’s wearing away at Peter
Then one day your boyfriend asks to spar with dami
And you, Tim, Dick and Jay all share a look
So both boys start getting ready to spar and Dami takes it a little more seriously
Peter’s reflexes are much quicker though, since he’s spidey and all so that pisses your younger brother off
so he starts getting angry
Suddenly, it’s not sparing anymore and instead it’s literally peter fending for his life as Damian tries to kill him.
So you scream.
And everyone drops everything and you kinda run off with Peter hot on your heels.
You completely shut down on both of them bc two ppl you really cared about almost hurt each other
Peter shows up at the Manor one day, looking for Dami who almost slams the door shut when he sees your boyfriend
And he’s like “look, I don’t know why you hate me but you mean so much to (Y/N) and I know how much it would mean to her if we got a long, she speaks so highly of you and I just- I want to get to know you.”
And Damian’s like shit, because he doesn’t hate Peter, he never did. He was just scared of losing you to heartbreak again.
“I didn’t hate you, in fact I find you quite um” *struggles to say the word likeable*
“Likeable?”
“No that’s too strong a word”
And Peter just smiled bc even though he won’t admit it, he knows that Damian doesn’t mind him.
Extras:
Never being allowed to go up to your room alone
one of your brothers are always watching.
Always.
The boys will literally freak out if Peter has even onE tiny bruise. They always think it’s a hicky.
“wHaTs wRonG witH yoU (Y/N)??”
“What did I do?”
“I can’t believe you, tainting Peter’s innocence like that”
“OH MY GOD JAY THE BRUISE IS ON HIS LEG HE FELL DOWN THE STAIRS”
At least one of your brothers third wheeling on dates
It’s mostly Dick
They’ll literally hold hands with you guys and sit at the table at restaurants
When you go to the cinema they all wanna sit next to Peter bc apparently you talk too much during movies
The boys waiting outside of school for flash when they find out he’s been bothering Peter
Everyone hanging out in the bat cave to talk about “manly things” when really they’re just gossiping about girls
You totally don’t try and spy on these
It totally doesn’t work rIP
Your brothers have a mental break down when you and Peter get into a fight
They act like you guys are divorced parents
Will do anything in their power to get you back together again
You probably already have tbh
You just like watching them freak out over you guys
Overall you all have a really good relationship
Peter is the first boy you’ve ever loved
And you’re really happy that your brothers like him. It means a lot.

Bakery AU, Part IX
One more chapter to go...
Part I, Part II, Part III, Part IV, Part V, Part VI, Part VII, Part VIII
~*~
“Tell me what?”
Tim’s heart starts to race, a last ditch effort by his body to give him the brainpower needed to get the words out of his mouth. He takes hold of Jason’s hand and removes it from his chin, but he doesn’t let it go. “I know you’re Redwing.”
To his credit, Jason doesn’t even flinch. “Right,” he drawls. “Tim, I think you’re a little sleep deprived.”
“Oh, I am,” Tim agrees. He forges on. “But I know I’m right.”
“Really? How so?”
“Because I figured out that Dick Grayson was Robin when I was nine years old.”
Jason’s grip on his hand tightens, the only sign his words are affecting him at all. “Okay, suppose I buy this tale. How did you figure it out?”
Tim launches into a story that has never once passed his lips. About how as a young boy he went to the circus with his parents and met an acrobat who promised to do a quadruple somersault just for him. He spoke of how that night ended in tragedy, with the acrobat’s parents falling to their deaths when their ropes snapped. “I kept tabs on Dick after I heard Mr. Wayne took him in. Sometimes I saw him at society events it was okay for kids to attend. When I was nine, I caught a clip on one of those paparazzi TV shows of Robin. They were running a brief segment on local urban myths. The video was absolute crap even if they did try to clean it up, but it wasn’t the person I recognized. It was what he did that struck me the most.”
“What did he do?” Jason prods when Tim pauses to gather his thoughts.
“He did a quadruple somersault. There’s only person in the world who can do it. Dick Grayson. After I figured that out, the rest was easy.” Tim bites his lip, stopping the flow of words.
There. He’d done it. No going back now.
Jason places his hands on Tim’s shoulders, holding him firmly in place as he stares intently at him. “Are you telling me a nine year old boy figured out one of the most closely guarded secrets on the planet?”
Tim nods. “If you’re referring to Batman, yes. He goes to great pains to hide it. Superman on the other hand…a pair of glasses? Really?”
A heavy hand covers his mouth faster than Tim can blink. “I think that’s enough tonight. You’re tired and obviously getting to the point where you’re not thinkin’ straight.”
What? Tim stiffens and jerks himself away from Jason. “You think I’m making this all up? I’m exhausted, but I’m not stupid. Jason, I have never, ever, spoken about this to anyone before. If you don’t believe me, fine. I was trying to be honest with you, because if you want whatever this is between us to work, then you need to be honest with me.”
“I don’t think this is the time or place to be having this conversation. You don’t have a door right now, remember?”
Tim’s mouth snaps shut. Son of a bitch. Had he been speaking too loudly? He doesn’t think so, but Jason is right. All that’s keeping the rest of the world out of his little shop is a piece of plastic. “Sorry. Sorry, you’re right. I’m just…”
“You’re tired, Tim.” Jason hauls him back in and plants a tender kiss on his forehead. “Go take a nap. I’ll finish cleaning this up.”
There isn’t anything Tim can do but nod. He’s blown it. He knows he has. Goddammit, why did he say it? Had he really misread things so badly? What’s going to happen now? Jason would be fully within his rights to never see him again after this little bomb. Fuck.
Tim lets Jason direct him into the kitchen and, under his watchful eye, gets his blanket and pillow out of the storage bin. Jason doesn’t comment about it, which says a lot about where this is all heading. He makes a little pallet under his desk and lays down. Through bleary eyes Tim watches Jason turn off the light and close the door, leaving it open just a crack. This is the last time he’s going to see Jason, he knows it. It hurts so bad that he doesn’t want the same thing as him.
So much for that gamble.
As Tim falls into a fitful sleep, he swears that he hears the low tone of Jason’s voice speaking to someone. “B? You won’t believe what I just heard…”
~*~*~
The next day Tim decides is quite possibly one of the worst he’s had in a while. Jason is gone when he wakes up to the alarm the man apparently set for him. No note, no nothing, not that Tim expects anything after the mess he made of things last night.
Stephanie tries to get the story out of him when she arrives an hour later with breakfast and coffee, but he refuses to say a word other than that he and Jason had a disagreement. This isn’t something Steph can help with. It’s all his fault.
“Do I need to call him and tell him to stop being an ass?” the blonde asks pointedly.
Tim loves that her loyalty is unwaveringly with him even if she doesn’t know all the details. “No, I’m pretty sure this is all on me.”
“Oh, Tim.” Steph wraps her arms around him and holds him tight. “Are you guys done then?”
He sighs into her freshly washed hair. God, he has to stink to high heaven at this point. “I don’t know.”
Steph squeezes him, then draws back, hands still on his arms as she gives him a serious look. “You know what’s going to make you feel better?”
“The ability to rewind the last twelve or so hours?”
“A shower. Go home, Tim. Get cleaned up, and for God’s sake, brush your teeth.”
Tim laughs weakly because what else can he do? He put himself out there and got rejected.
This is why he doesn’t date. It always hurts when things fall apart.
The rest of the day passes in a blur. It takes a few phone calls to get someone out on a Saturday to replace his door, and as soon as that was done, Tim calls it a day. He and Stephanie already have a plan in place to get things back up and running tomorrow, even if it will take at least a week to get a new display case. That’s fine, they can still take the truck out and Tim can set out a tray with a single cupcake of each design for any walk-ins to choose from while keeping the rest in back. They can make this work. Gotham and a broken heart are not going to keep Tim Drake down.
As he walks home in the late afternoon sun, Tim decides to allow himself one night to wallow in his misery. He deserves that much. A quick stop by the store gets him a six pack of his favorite microbrew and he swings by a Chinese restaurant that makes what he swears are the best noodles in town. Literally, since they make their noodles right there.
Properly fortified, Tim brings his prizes home. Another shower and a change of clothes later, he settles onto his sofa to binge watch Netflix. There are some shows he needs to catch up on.
He does not think about Jason. Much.
Three hours later, he’s finished half his stir-fried noodles and three bottles of beer. Sleep sounds like a great idea, lightweight that he is, so Tim manages to put away his food before returning to the sofa where he puts on a BBC nature documentary to fall asleep to.
He cuddles under his afghan and is out in under a minute.
~*~*~
It’s late when Tim wakes up. He feels like he should still be asleep, but something has drawn him out of that sweet oblivion where he doesn’t think about Jason. Everything is quiet, so he decides it must be his faintly hurting head that woke him. Some headache meds and water will fix that, as will sleeping in his bed rather than the living room.
Tim opens his eyes blearily as he sits up. Then he opens them wider and jerks upright, the afghan pooling around his waist.
Standing in front of his muted TV is Batman, outlined by the glow of the screen behind him.
Oh, shit. Why…Oh. Oh. Jason must have told him everything. Of course, he would, the little bomb Tim dropped on him last night impacts everything his family works so hard for. God, how could he have been so thoughtless?
His inner fanboy cowers in the corner of his mind, wailing in fear even though Tim is reasonably certain Batman won’t actually hurt him. Scare the crap out of him, yes. Intimidate him, hell yes. This is very intimidating, yup. Babbling seems like a stupid thing to do right about now, so Tim keeps his mouth shut and waits for Batman to say something.
And waits.
And waits.
Seriously? Is he waiting for Tim to speak up first? He has not had enough sleep for this. Tim shoves the afghan off his lap and swings his legs to the floor. “Would you like some coffee? If you’re just going to stand there, then I’m going to need some.”
Batman doesn’t move. If anything, he frowns harder without even moving his face.
Now there’s a trick Tim would love to learn. He makes his way into the kitchen and flips on the overhead light by the sink to see by. Coffee prep is something he could do in his sleep, so while the little pot is brewing, Tim takes two mugs out of the cabinet and sets them on the counter.
“Do you take cream or sugar?” he calls out, not really expecting an answer.
He doesn’t get one.
Black it is.
Tim pours two cups and returns to the living room. He doesn’t try and hand Batman his cup, but he does place it on the coffee table in front of him before sitting back down on the sofa. This is by far the strangest interview he’s ever been part of. It must be a neat trick, using your reputation to get everything you need to know out of a person without having to say a word.
This could go on all night. “What do you want to know?” Tim asks eventually.
“Start from the beginning.” Batman’s voice is a low growl, one that makes Tim’s throat hurt just listening to it.
So Tim starts there, telling Batman how he met Dick, the promised quadruple somersault, and the tragedy that occurred later. He tells him about how he kept tabs on the former acrobat through the news, that he just wanted to be sure the boy was happy. Then he tells him what happened when he was nine… “I’m not sure there are many people who could have made that connection,” he admits slowly. “I mean, sure, the people at the circus probably can if they ever happen to see Robin, or Nightwing now, do that. But outside of there? I don’t think I would have if I hadn’t been there that night and saw it myself.” As well as everything that happened after, but there’s no need to rehash that again.
“You were very young.”
Tim nods. “I was almost four. My mom always said I have a mind like a steel trap. That when something goes in, it’s not coming out. I think that’s part of the reason why I didn’t forget. I couldn’t, even if I’d wanted to.” He sips his coffee, debating about the next part. This is where he could get into some serious trouble.
Well, this is supposed to be a confession of sorts. And it does feel good to get everything off his chest after holding it so close for years.
“When I figured out who was under Robin’s mask, I decided I needed to see Dick in action again for myself. We lived in the city, and Mom and Dad were never around much, so it was easy to sneak out…” Tim tells Batman about how he used to map his and Robin’s patrol routes, how he would hide and wait half the night for even a glimpse of his hero. As he got better and grew more confident, that was when he started bringing a camera.
If Batman was rigid before, then those words made him even more so.
“Those first photos were horrible,” Tim admits with a wry shake of his head. “It took a lot of practice to learn how to shoot at night, just as it took a lot of trial and error to learn to develop my own pictures because these were not something I wanted to take to the convenience store and have just anyone see. But I got better and by the time I did, there was a new Robin.”
Jason. The Robin he got all the best photos of.
“I took my pictures for a little over three years,” Tim continues. “And then my parents were murdered in a botched kidnapping. My life was turned upside down for a time, but when it became clear that I was going to end up in foster care since I had no family to take me in, I knew I couldn’t keep any of those pictures. I couldn’t risk it, even if no one knows the faces beneath those masks.”
“What did you do?”
“I took them up to the roof of my parent’s townhouse and burned them. Each and every one.” It still hurt, even after a decade and more having passed. But it hurt like ripping off a bandaid hurt, and no longer tore at his soul. “All my negatives, I soaked in bleach.”
Batman gestures to the pictures hanging on the walls. The black and white photos are taken from various angles high above Gotham. “You didn’t stop taking pictures completely.”
Tim shakes his head. “No, but I didn’t take those until I’d graduated from culinary school and had my own place. I like photography, it’s something I’m good at. But it’s a hobby now. A skill I can put to use in my shop for my website.”
“You understand the concerns I have.” It isn’t a question and Tim doesn’t pretend to take it as such.
Still, he knows he’s expected to answer. “I do. Honestly, I wasn’t planning to say a word about this to Jason at all. Until last night, I thought what we had was just a mutually beneficial arrangement between two consenting adults. He’d never given me a reason to believe otherwise.”
“Until last night,” Batman states, echoing Tim’s words. “Why did you tell him this?”
Tim hedges and sips his coffee as he tries to gather his thoughts. For all that opening his mouth had been a mistake, the reason why he did hasn’t changed. On that one fact, he still feels like he’s on solid ground.
“Because last night he said he cares about me. That what keeps him coming back is me.” No need to mention the frosting part. Nope. “I’ve known for a little while now that I like him more than what our arrangement calls for. I figured that if he wants a real relationship, then he has a right to what I know so that he doesn’t have to lie to me when the shit hits the fan or he gets all battered and bruised and needs to cancel plans we’ve made. I can’t imagine it’s easy for anyone who tries to date one of you guys.”
“It isn’t. Especially for someone like you who cannot protect himself.”
The implication is clear as day. Tim tightens his fingers around his warm mug. “I know I’m putting myself in harm’s way if Jason and I keep seeing each other. I know I can be used against him or as a means to hurt him. I know all of this. But isn’t it up to us to decide if that’s a chance we want to take?”
“Yeah, B, stop stickin’ your nose in our business.”
Tim almost spills his coffee as Jason comes striding around from behind the sofa in full Redwing regalia. It’s an impressive sight, from the battered leather jacket to the dark gray uniform underneath that fits him like a glove. How long has he been here? Oh, shit, what has he heard? Tim tells himself to get a grip. Everything he’s said to Batman is stuff he plans to tell Jason, if the other man ever gives him a chance.
He’s here though, so that has to mean something. Right?
Batman doesn’t move, but it’s clear when he turns his attention on his son because that weighted gaze no longer sits like a ton of bricks on Tim. “I am trying to ascertain what this man’s intentions are towards all of us.”
Jason snorts incredulously. “No, you’re trying to be a dad for a change and scare away a potential boyfriend. B, Tim knows and hasn’t said a word to anyone. Do you have any idea how much easier this makes things for me? I don’t have to fucking lie for a change.”
Tim clutches his coffee mug, afraid to make even the slightest of noises for fear of interrupting what is clearly a very important argument. Inside, his heart sings with joy because Jason is fighting with Batman for him. If that’s not a sign from the heavens, he doesn’t know what is.
“What happens if it doesn’t work out?” Batman says to Jason. “Think about the damage Tim can do in a single moment of petty spite.”
“I’d never do that,” Tim interrupts. This is something he has to speak up about. “What you guys do is so much bigger than anything I deal with. You’re important. You all mean something to the world. For however long this lasts between Jason and me, I’m glad to be able to support him in whatever way I can. And when it ends, well, I’ll at least know that for a time, I made him happy. Because I can’t imagine you guys get that a lot.”
Both men turn and stare at Tim, heavy and weighted and wow, this must be the same feeling that makes bad guys quiver in their shoes. But Tim holds firm and doesn’t drop his gaze.
“B, you’re done here,” Jason finally announces. “You got what you came for. Tim won’t spill the beans. Now get out.”
“Redwing—”
“Get outta my business, B. I can either air dirty laundry about you and Catwoman or toss you out that window. Take your pick.”
Batman looms over his son, but Jason is clearly having none of it as he just stares him down. All the long years of exposure must make him immune. Tim finds that impressive because wow. Just wow.
That heavy gaze settles back on him for a moment before Batman walks away without another word, brushing past the sofa towards the window leading out to the fire escape. Tim feels a faint rush of cold air on his neck and then nothing. He turns around to look, just to be sure. The only thing he sees is the faint movement of his cheap window blinds.
“So that’s what being interrogated by Batman feels like.”
Jason snorts and picks up the coffee Batman never even touched. “Sort of. There’s usually a lot more punching and getting tossed off the side of a building involved.”
“I’ll take your word for it.” Tim feels faint at the thought. Although jumping off the side of a building doesn’t sound too bad if he’s with the right person…kind of like skydiving perhaps.
An awkward silence falls over the room, neither of them seemingly able to start the conversation that needs to happen. Tim fiddles with his mug and steals glances at Jason, who seems lost in thought as he drinks the not-so-warm coffee. What’s going on in his head? How does Jason feel about all this? He apparently likes the idea of him knowing who he is if his statement to Batman was legit.
Tim takes a deep breath and breaks the ice. “How much of that did you hear?”
“All of it. I followed B here and snuck in through your bedroom while he loomed over you like a creepy fuck until you woke up.”
“How long did that take?”
Jason chuckles quietly. “About half an hour. Color me impressed.”
“I may have had a few beers earlier tonight.”
“Lightweight,” Jason teases, but there’s a fondness to it. “You were quite the little stalker once upon a time, weren’t ya?”
Tim nods, feeling steadier now that they’re talking about his past. “I guess you could call it that. At the time though, I was so incredibly lonely that sneaking out for even a glimpse of my heroes was enough to negate the creep factor.”
Jason walks around the coffee table and takes a seat in the recliner. Under the jacket, Tim can just make out the stylized red bat on his broad chest. “You’ve mentioned before that your parents were never around that much.”
“No, they weren’t.” Tim takes a sip from his mug. It’s almost empty. “I had a hard time mourning for people who were never there. I got lucky when I was placed with Grandma Ives. She gets kids in a way I’d never seen before. Probably because she had six of her own, plus over a dozen grandkids. She helped me figure out what my grief was really about and gave me something constructive to do while I worked my way through it.”
“She the one who taught you to bake?”
“Yes.” Tim has many fond memories of Grandma Ives. Perhaps one day, he can introduce Jason to her.
“Did you really take all those pictures of me?” The question seemingly comes out of left field, but Tim has a feeling it’s a precursor to something bigger.
“I did.”
“Is it… Is this the reason you want to be with me?” Jason gestures to his uniform, to the mask he’s still wearing.
Tim is shaking his head before Jason finishes speaking. “No. Not at all. In the beginning, I was shocked that someone like you even spared a glance in my direction. I kept telling myself not to look too deeply into it, to not get attached, that we were both getting something we needed. But when we went out for dinner to that bar, it felt like a date. I wanted it to be a real date so badly that I had to keep reminding myself it wasn’t.”
Jason sighs heavily and leans forward, his solid arms resting on his thickly muscled thighs. “I think of that night as a date. It was all so clear in my head what I was doing, sweeping you off your feet and romancing the crap out of you, but in hindsight, I can see why you believed what you did.” He sounds defeated, which no. No. Tim is not letting this happen.
Standing, Tim sets aside his coffee and kneels in front of Jason, resting his hands over the man’s gloved ones and forcing him to look at him. This close, the lenses in his mask are disconcerting, but Tim knows Jason’s eyes are on him. “We’re both idiots,” he pronounces. “Doing everything ass backwards from the way we should have.”
“Wouldn’t be the first time I’ve fucked up,” Jason tries, but Tim shushes him.
“Me neither. But I think we have a good reason to want to do this right. If you want to, that is.” Tim trails off, his momentary boldness tapering into uncertainty.
Jason grabs hold of his hands, holding them firmly in his gloved ones. “I want to. Christ, I want to. But the risks…Tim, already the thought of something happening to you hurts like hell. If we go further…”
Tim raises their joined hands and presses a kiss into the material of Jason’s gloves. “I understand. Just know that I’m willing to take those risks. But really, the choice is yours, not mine. What you do, who you are…it’s all so much bigger than just me.” His confidence shocks him, even if it is nice to know he can bring it out when he needs to, despite the less than stellar circumstances.
“I need some time to think.”
“I respect that.” Tim tries to stand, but Jason rises along with him and draws him in close, pressing his forehead against the top of Tim’s head.
“Tim, this isn’t good-bye. I will let you know what I decide. And in person because you deserve that much, even if it’s not what either of us want.”
It’s more than Tim can reasonably expect. “I appreciate it.”
Jason pulls back a bit and runs his fingers over Tim’s cheeks, seemingly memorizing the planes of his face. “I’ll see you soon.” He leans in and presses a brief kiss against Tim’s mouth.
And then he’s gone, vanishing into the night.

dickdami + 'he's asking about you'? plus any other lines you wanna add i guess!
“He’s asking about you.”
DickDami / Dick + Damian || 98% Tim and Barbara gossiping 2% Damian being cranky || wc: 824
The family is very concerned, you see. >:D
…..·• •·….
The atmosphere in the family is tenser than usually, bynow everyone had noticed the sharp decline in Dick’s visits to the mansion,Gotham didn’t get a visit from Nightwing in months as well. At first everyoneassumes it’s somehow related to Bruce, perhaps yet another disagreement orfight. That theory is refuted when Nightwing and Batman solve a mutual case in Metropolis, helping Superman together without any apparent issue with pairing up.
It leaves the family to wonder yet again over the issueat hand, because by now it’s painfully obvious that Dick is avoiding Gotham atall costs. It’s Tim who first points out a pattern. “He never shows up whenDamian is there” he tells Barbara, warming his hands on his third cup ofcoffee. “Think about it, even the times he works with us, Damian is neveraround.” There’s dark circles beneath his eyes and he’s right about to faintfrom lack of sleep, but no, he still has some data to dig through.
Barbara makes a humming sound, thinking back at thelast couple of months and has to admit it “You’re actually… right, they didn’tshare a mission or even a room in months…” she looks confused “Doesn’t makesense though, the kid admires Dick” she grins a little teasingly “Maybe evenmore than you did, fanboy” she rolls her wheelchair closer to the table andgives Tim a look.
“Ugh” Tim grants, the tips of his ears warming upslightly despite being dead inside. So what if he was a bit of a fanboy, nothing wrong about that. “Maybe I was a fanboy, but Damian, he’s obsessed” hemakes a face and takes a long sip from his coffee “Or was… now that I think ofit…” he wonders “Haven’t heard him ask when ‘Grayson’ is coming in a while, youthink they had a fight?” he hates how he ends up gossiping with Barbara eventhough he seriously shouldn’t even care for this.
“Maybe but…” the redhead wonders, rubbing her chin“…It’s unlike Dick to not try and make up, right?” she raises her eyebrow“Besides it looks like Dick is the one avoiding him, not the other way around, hmn.”She’s curious now, actually intrigued to know the answer. There’s the sound offootsteps and what a wonder, Damian enters the kitchen with a perfect timing, afirm frown set.
“Drake, don’t you have your own place to work at?” heasks, showing his cranky morning mood straight away, he doesn’t have anythingto tell Barbara so he just makes another granting sounds, huffing through hisnose as he passes the pair, eyeing them with suspicion before opening the refrigeratorand grabbing a water bottle.
Both Barbara and Tim pass looks, it’s Barbara who takesthe initiative, eyes narrowing and face suspiciously neutral. “Hey Damian” shesays, not intimidated by the grumpy look she receives in return “Dick beenasking about you” she says, noticing from the corner of her eye how Tim’s mouthopens and shuts. She doesn’t have to add any more than this, the reactionis…pretty easy to read.
Damian’s dark expression is broken in an instant and heblinks, turquoise eyes growing wider and lips parting to form a little ‘o’shape, he seems almost hopeful, almost like he’s been waiting for any sign fromDick, even this small. The moment is short lived and it passes almost instantly,he covers up the crack in his invisible wall by wearing a much more stoicfacial expression, furrowing his eyebrows in annoyance.
“Tell Grayson that he can talk to me rather than hidinglike a coward.” He snaps proudly, raising his chin higher and turns to leavethe room, it seems like he did want to hear more but was simply too proud toask. Both hear the loud “TT” sound and the unusually loud footsteps. He’sworked up, that much both detectives can conclude.
She turns to Tim and whistles “Whoa there” she says, amazed “So Boy Wonder is actually avoiding Robin” her eyes seem to gleam withcuriosity “Don’t you want to figure this mystery out?” she asks Tim in aprovocative way “For the family’s sake, of course” she adds in self-defense yetno shame.
Tim just drinks his coffee, looking so damn donebecause he has one hundred things on his head and Damian’s issues are seriouslynot one he wants to focus on right now… Though… He has to admit, he is a littlecurious, what sort of a horrible thing Damian could have done to drive awayeven the most stubborn family man there is. He can imagine lots of things, butthis is not one of them. After all, Dick even forgave Bruce for everything he everdone for the sake of the job.
“Of course” hegrumbles at last, putting his empty coffee cup down “For the family.”
He needs another cup, or ten.

Why is tim drake never as popular as the other robins, it’s annoying also can you make a new story about him please
I honestly don’t understand… maybe I do, for one thing DC is run by 40-50 year old fan boys with a strange boner for the Bronze Age of comics, which ran from the late 1960s through to the mid-1980s, for most of that time of course Dick Grayson was Robin, they also seem to really resent the 1990s and early 2000s in comics, maybe it was a time when they were just getting started and people told them “no” a lot. This explains strange life choices like bring back Barry Allen (why?) and also boning over all iconic 90s characters, like Tim, Superboy, and Impulse (also the revived JSA)
as to the wider fandom…. hm, hard to say, in the mid-1980s Frank Miller (before he totally lost his fucking mind) wrote The Dark Knight Returns, this together with Watchmen is generally seen as the kick off of the “Dark Age” of comics, taking the more serious socially aware story lines of the Bronze age and stripping out the last of the Sliver age goofiness as well as trying to make comics “serious” and “adult” with varying degrees of success. Part of DKR’s story line was a darker, meaner or more serious Batman without a sidekick, a more violent mean Jason Todd who died at the hands of the Joker. This was a few years before both those things happened. Many fans came to resent Robin in general as a goofy hold over that held back their favorite hero from being the full grim, dark, violent anti-hero they wanted. Many fans say killing Jason off as a path to get to something like the DKR story/universe for Batman. Tim of course throws a spanner in those works.
Tim reinvented Robin as a much more independent character (he’s the first Robin to star in his own long running comic) as well as a tougher character, the 1990s went out of their way to show that Tim could keep up with Batman, fighting and beating Lady Shiva at one point (a character Bruce himself has struggled to get the best of at times) while hacking and computer skills had always been a part of the character along with kinda a nerd as Tim, in the mid-2000s this gets more and more played up, his combat skills played down. This might have to do with the fanboys I mentioned earlier, put bluntly mid-1990s Tim Drake was hardcore and a bad-ass and I honestly think could have taken Dick in a fight and made Bruce break a sweat, it’s kinda offensive that he’s now like the weak Robin or something
PS. I will write some Tim Drake soon, I was think Tim, the teenage Batman :)
