van's the type of person who attaches herself onto any girl that she thinks can provide her with Safety and Love, and she gives back everything she is in return bc she believes it's conditional. she thinks if she doesn't let them feed off her organs they won't love her anymore.

lottie doesn't want to be worshipped, but she will, if it helps van. she'll cut herself into pieces if she thinks it will help someone. it doesn't even really matter that it's van, but also it does, because van is the only one still around who's never thought she's crazy.

natalie didn't ever want to lead, but, god, it is so good to be loved. and van has so much love to give, so nice and docile and sweet like a dog, as long as lottie says, this is who we listen to now. this is who the wilderness speaks through now.

Hi, Anon! Don't worry, I don't mind sharing my views here, as flawed as they can be. I love BTS, but I’m supporting Min Hee-Jin and NewJeans right now.

I think BTS are going to be fine regardless.  I’m waiting to see Taehyung's reaction on this, maybe with some encoded message, if ever happens --I kind of expect he will be supporting both ADOR CEO and the girls given that NewJeans came to visit him very recently. However, I’d understand if members didn’t say anything –no matter their age, staying out of trouble is a must for keeping brands, avoiding more scandals, and all that. They really can’t speak out, right? From a Westerner point of view, It’s disappointing and a bit tragic. They’re wealthy, have high social status, honor and reputation, but even so theyre unable to do anything to help the situation in public. They're just like company puppets.

I think Hybe just hired Min Heejin for her experience, credibility and connections, but wouldn’t trust her too much. In a way I’m glad I’m watching this unravelling first hand, as I’ve read fans already trying to downplay her talents and the role she played into changing K-Pop in a new direction. At least, i know how all that truly happened in reality.

My take on this is that Hybe wanted to get rid of MHJ quickly and well They lost their case when they decided to turn the case from a professional issue into a personal attack, with a witch-hunt against her waged in public arena.  I knew that MHJ wouldn’t throw in the towel as easily. The woman has strong core, I knew she was a warrior and would fight back. I don’t judge her at all. It was Hybe who fared a war against her first, and playing dirty at that, they wanted her to resign quickly. She had to fight back. Women with strong believes will do that, you can’t break them so easily. It backfired on them spectacularly. I think she was frustrated with Hybe meddling in her affairs, and she was trying to gain more control. I guess Hybe became desperate. Min Heejin still has a chance at overturning Ador’s contract which is likely to contain abusive conditions. She seems to be buying time to salvage her position; however, I believe she’ll be getting fired either way. 

As I said, I’m currently on her side until something else happens that changes my mind.  I’m on Min Heejin and NewJeans side --I love these girls.

I  knew, even before MHJ released her first statement, that the case was related to ILLIT being too much close to NewJeans concept as the reason why the relationship deteriorated so quickly. I thought this fight would be for better positioning in this new 5th gen. crop of groups. Her innovative vision had changed the current state of Kpop fundamentally –not only in visuals, but choreo and style of songs. As she stated in her interview for Fast Company last November:

"With NewJeans, I was trying to target people who weren’t interested [in K-Pop] ...  I wanted to have a group that everybody, regardless of their gender and age, could love. ... I knew that if I made good music and sophisticated concepts that people would want it ... I put a lot of effort and thought into creating good quality, good essence. I thought that if I could just focus more on creating the best essence, it would make my life easier with the second part, [the business].

[The NewJeans hit] Super Shy is a song with repetitive verses and [doesn’t have] a really strong hook. ... it’s a repetitive song ... I just let the song be the way it had to be. ... people think that having loops is boring ... everybody wants to make a song that follows the traditional rules of a hit song. ... I don’t really believe in stitching together different parts from different songs, I just want to use the song in its entirety. 

I wasn’t really interested in idol groups growing up because their style of music was very different from the ones that I personally preferred. If I had to pick my style, it would lean more toward indie music. I’m particularly interested in jazz. ...

I want to make NewJeans’s music so that it will still sound really beautiful after 10, 20 years. You never throw away your favorite pair of jeans—your favorite pair of clothing you can wear every single day. I think the kind of clothes that you can wear every single day are like pop music. 

When we do our work, we just want to bear in mind the fact that we’re cool, whatever we do is great, and whatever result comes out, we just want to embrace it. In order to maintain this kind of chill attitude, I have to juggle different things like I mentioned earlier. It’s really difficult to make money while looking cool. But I guess I’m aiming for an impossible goal.

With NewJeans, I want to [help] them make fun, happy memories—something that they can really look back on and enjoy even when they grow old. They chose to work with me [instead of] going to school. Our contract is for seven years. And seven years is almost like three years of high school and four years of college. So what I said to them in the beginning was, “Think of this as studying with me for seven years.” They’re so young, and I wanted them to think of this experience as studying, and not to focus too much on the numbers.

I think when you’re working with such young girls and [you’re] somebody who owns this business, you have to have an ethical sense of mind. What I wanted to do was, just like school, I wanted to teach them ways that would help them live a really happy life later on.

I think I had these thoughts because we’re in the K-pop idol scene and because I have to work with really young girls. .... But K-pop is evolving and advancing. And I think having these values in my mind will help me going forward".

You can see the change spreading in latest Riize single Impossible. She went for a change in the whole mood, music, dance and visuals. The dancing is way more organic and natural, fluid. Group dynamics presented as friends meeting on schools' breaks, dancing and enjoying themselves together. Visuals would rely on natural scenery as much as possible. You can see the girls having fun, so much laid-back. They would look happy within and outside work environment, comparing them to Le Sserafim, which seemed to be struggling more with difficult choreos, severe workout and diets.

Taehyung chose her to produce his solo too, and that solo was very much impregnated with this same vision of hers:

I never expected to work on V’s solo album. He asked me for my help, and he’s so popular, so I thought that it was a good opportunity for me to try new things with less pressure. The title song [on Layover, called Slow Dancing, has an instrumental outro that] is almost one-minute long. That is not commercial at all. It’s an artistic experiment. And it was a try I could go for because he is really popular. 

Some BTS fans want to compare how well one member’s album does over another member’s. BTS is a group that’s been around for 10 years now. They did their duty, basically. So I think it’s time to focus less on the stats and just enjoy their music—[let them] do what they want to do. 

My mindset when I was producing for V was to help him do music that he could really enjoy. In commercial terms, there wasn’t a reason for me to work on that album. It was just a one-off thing. It was not that we were going to work together continuously going forward. And I was busy enough with NewJeans. So me diverting some of my time to that project could have been a little risky. But his intentions were really pure. I wanted to make him nice memories or maybe give him a gift. Unlike NewJeans, he doesn’t have to obsess over numbers and things. And personally, I just hope that NewJeans won’t either.

1. TBH to me im also confused reading LO bc it both takes itself way too seriously but also not at the same time? like it wants us to feel like its this grand dramatic epic that takes serious issues and all, only to be so full of slapstick and juvenile "humor" and hip "relatable" humor that its like?? well which one is it then??

2. Im glad im not the only one who noticed, at least in terms of their relationship to hades, persephone and minthe are exactly the same. the difference is minthe has everything to lose, has no support and she doenst "deserve" him, meanwhile persephone has everything, gets everything, and "deserves" hades because she coddles him and she conforms to him & his wants, which minthe never do. im not saying minthe doesnt have her issues, but her not doing exactly what he wanted lead to her demise.

3. i love the excuse of constantly making lo persephone naked is "being accurate to ancient art" because one thats not how ancient art was?? only aphrodite and maybe amphitrite were depicted without clothes, but even that most of that was a post-antiquity/roman trend to show they could do anatomy correctly, but more so persephone specifically (minus the bernini statue which wasnt in ancient times) was always clothed? like yall just make up whatever to excuse rachel being wrong no matter what, huh?

4. LO is hardly the only romance comic to have this issue but it def runs off he fact the readers knowing theyll get together in the end to excuse its actual lack of developing them as a couple. rachel basically made two characters who wouldnt even talk to each other under normal circumstances and is just running off them being well known instead of making their relationship actually make sense. if we didnt know they were a canon myth couple, would anyone buy theyre in love? Probably not.

5. i see an excuse that LO's characterization should be excused because "rachel is making them complex" and its like ... the greek gods?? need to be made complex?? what are you lot on to think rachel is "improving" on the gods, esp when theyre just made into one note assholes with her deciding if theyre "good" or not depending on if they kiss persephone and hades' ass or not.  thats not complexity??

6. rachel literally cannot help herself to overemphasize how child like persephone is while also doing the same to emphasize how old and weird hades is and then still acts shocked people think its a creepy relationship? like you cant constantly make a point hes an old man lusting after a barely legal young woman and then be up in arms that people get weirded out by it.

7. oh my god the trial IS going into december and maybe even longer. she literally stretched it over months when it could have been at most three weeks. i hate it here.

8. RS is really just throwing whatever she can at the wall at this point isn't she. Here, now Hades has titan powers for no reason! He can turn into a spider now! Persephone made elysium now and has to teach him torturing the dead is wrong! Meanwhile other plots are either rushed (Daphne, Minthe) or that should be wrapped up by now or even have a little focus on them is just ignored, dropped, or retconned in some weird way, Like girl, take a month off and plan this out on a google spreadsheet.

9. the funny part about how pissed rachel gets at being accused of "stealing from percy jackson" is ... she unintentionally does? like PJO popularized "persephone was a b-tier nobody before marrying hades", promoted demeter was irrational helicopter mom, and also (incorrectly) popularized titans being literal giants, all of which rachel put in LO. now she probably only picked these up from tumblr posts but those are from PJO, so in a roundabout way she did kind of steal from PJO, just unknowingly.

10. this is nitpicky but i hate the in universe and fandom "joke" kore is some corn joke bc one) corn is from mexico, but so wouldnt wheat or barley be more accurate? but two) kore is not pronounced "core", its pronounced "core-ey", so the joke doesnt work on both a food or a pronunciation front. like this is supposed to be so well researched and accurate yet it doesnt know how to pronounce the main characters name or knows what actual food grows in greece and was connected to demeter.

my worst fear is demetri and hawk getting together, but through an outing or cheating storyline. theyre very common tropes and i know yasmine is definitely gonna pose a problem to their relationship at some point.

I know right!!! Like I’m not a big Yasmine fan (still not really inclined to forgive her for all that shit she pulled in Season 1 just because she’s like...being slightly nicer to Demetri, and no one else?), but it kinda sucks to think about even HER getting mixed up and hurt in the mess of these two boys very much convinced they’re Big Straight finally coming to terms with their sexualities. Like I get realizing you’re gay or bi can be messy, ESPECIALLY at a high school like the kids go to where you can get picked on for literally ANYTHING, but no one deserves to be essentially used as a Beard, even if it’s unintentional. And having Demetri cheat on Yas with Eli would just be so...ugh, for so many reasons. Like for one, they’re already DONE the cheating thing with the whole Robby x Sam x Miguel x Tory thing...we don’t need ANOTHER cheating storyline just to create interesting romantic drama. And it’s not like gay cheating is all that different from straight cheating at its core, so it’s not like it would be that fresh or interesting of a take on the whole cheating plotline anyways.

Besides, the cheating plot often just...isn’t very fun to watch a lot of the time, because you’re just facepalming at all these characters just making very dumb and selfish decisions instead of like...communicating? Like I love these characters but it’s harder to root for them when I see them cheating on their SOs, since that’s just like...such a shitty thing to do, even if said SO isn’t my fave. I can kinda forgive the Samiguel cheating thing, considering they were both drunk and all and it was a bit of a spur of the moment deal, but consciously and repeatedly cheating on your girlfriend with your best guy friend just because you’re too scared to admit to yourself you’re gay??? Nah, fuck that. Like you don’t have to publicly announce you’re into guys or anything, but leave leading girls on out of it!!!! If you’d really rather secretly bang/kiss a guy, then dump your girlfriend and then continue to secretly bang/kiss said guy!!! It’s just...SO crappy to use someone as a cover-up like that, and it would make me lose a lot of sympathy for Demetri if he did. And it would FRUSTRATE me too, like??? If you want Eli so bad, break up with Yaz then??? Sure, it might lose him some of the popularity points he seems to enjoy, but that’s better than staying with someone you’ve lost the spark with just so you can go behind their back.

I’m honestly hoping if Yasmine is used in a Demetri/Eli plot, she’ll be there to kinda represent what Demetri THINKS he should want vs. what he ACTUALLY wants (i.e. Eli). Like Yasmine’s the ideal girlfriend, social status-wise--gorgeous, popular, sexy, doesn’t take shit from anyone since she’s at the top of the food chain (or at least seems to still think she is). In a way, she represents everything Demetri has ever wanted--acceptance, adoration, the respect of his peers, the power that comes from being near The Top, wherever “The Top” really is. So when he starts dating her, he just has to wonder why he feels so...unfulfilled? Why he’s not as happy as he always dreamed he would be when the day finally came that Yasmine looked his way? And he hates himself for it, but he finds half the time he spends time with her, listening to her talk about manicures and dresses and designer bags, he wishes he was with Eli instead, watching Doctor Who. It makes him wonder if being with a rich girl isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. And that little tingle he gets in his chest whenever the newly-mellowed-out Hawk/Eli starts excitedly rambling about “nerd shit” again, just like he used to...is that normal? Why does he find himself caring more about Eli’s opinions of him than his own girlfriend? It’s fucking weird.

After a while of finding himself more and more focused on Eli, and rapidly running out of things to actually TALK about with Yasmine, Demetri does like...the practical thing, and ends things with Yaz, realizing he liked the idea of her better than he actually liked her. Yaz is probably pretty fine with it, too, since I imagine at this point, she’s realized her and Dem don’t really have enough in common to keep a relationship going. Like Demetri is a smart guy--it might throw him off to realize he only liked Yasmine because of the idealized picture he painted himself of her, and the pedestal he put her on, but I think he’d come to terms with this sooner than people think and wouldn’t just like...be in such rampant denial about not actually liking Yasmine that much that he refuses to break up with her. Self-denial is Hawk’s thing, not Demetri’s XD Demetri has always more or less embraced who he is, geekiness and all, and hasn’t ever really felt the need to deny who he is. He often makes a point of saying exactly what he thinks and feels, no matter how unwise, so he’s pretty in-touch with himself. I feel like if he realized his relationship with Yaz wasn’t everything he’d hoped for, he might be a bit bummed, sure--it always sucks when something you’ve been striving for for a long time doesn’t meet your expectations, and turned out to be better in your mind. But ultimately, if Demetri realized he wasn’t that into Yaz, I feel like he would eventually just accept that as a part of himself and move forward with his life accordingly.

I think it would be nice if dating Yasmine is a way for Demetri to have to question what it is he really wants, and what he’s actually looking for in a partner. And, of course, question whether he ACTUALLY even likes girls...because why is being with this hot girl barely doing anything for him at all??? Why isn’t he constantly filled with excitement and unending horniness??? What is going on here??? But even then, like, there’s just...NO reason for him to cheat. I feel like realizing you’re gay provides enough angst and drama in of itself without having to have a gay love affair behind your girlfriend’s back. Throwing in cheating to the whole gay realization would almost make it like...comedically overdramatic, because it 100% reads as “Oh, look at this dramatic thing! What if we made it even MORE dramatic??? For...DRAMA???” Besides, I just really don’t want them to make Demetri into a cheater For The Drama. He’s a good, loyal kid who drinks Respect Women juice every day (I mean...Moon and Sam are two of his closest friends, ffs! And he’s never once been creepy with or tried to hit on either!), so him cheating is a no from me, dawg.

Like Cobra Kai, if y’all wanna use Yas/metri as a means of pushing us closer to eventual Hawkmetri, fine. But please do it SMART. Yasmine absolutely doesn’t need to get cheated on for Demetri to realize within that relationship that he’s not (or not JUST) into girls. Dare to be different, Cobra Kai!!! Say “no thank you” to the Gay Cheating cliche and “yes thank you” to Demetri realizing he’s gay (or bi) in a more interesting, nuanced way that doesn’t totally screw Yasmine over for no reason!

UMM I started furiously typing without ANY organization but im here to summarize that this is a shitty essay about taeyong's change of character over the years and how it's driving me NUTS

--- the thing is i never bought into the whole "taeyong used to be a bad boy" narrative and the reason i started stanning him to begin with was finding out he's actually a gentle boy from NCT life and other interviews and realities shows and like......generally my thoughts on the scandal (which changes all the time and i dont know the whole story) is that first of all it's a stupid ass fucking issue to have a scandal around and that second it seems overboard to the point where SM rolled with it and made him apologize demurely and appear guilty rather than defend him in order to push his soft boy image even more? because they were creating a "cold and unapproachable" image FOR him during debut and actively having him and other members demonstrate that he's "actually really gentle" like, this was SM's own doing, which means as time went on especially when CB rolled around you can start to see that the "soft boy" who cooks and cleans and takes care of members like a good leader image is to some extent a construction as well because taeyong is not rly a natural leader, there are members who begin to stand out as having that role instead and taeyong can comfortably retreat a little into the regular person that he is WHICH, at that point, i loved even more because hey he's happy and that makes me happy, i know enough about the person at the core of "taeyong" to bias him no matter what kind of a person he is cuz its always within the bars of standard deviation. to me his image progressed smth along the lines of this starting from rookies era till about...like limitless even they really wanted to push his image as being a dancer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wEdZKC0orM), and when i first saw this i was in luv but the more i got to know him the more i realized this is something they would've choreographed for kai, it's a style of sharp snaps and smooth curves and hitting the points that kai loves doing, kai taemin etc like knowing SM's history of dancers this feels more like them than taeyong, and ofc being a rookie ty must learn to be ABLE to technically execute things like this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvniaVnTKQI), cool sharp and hard hitting, which falls in line with the "seems cool but is sweet" dichotomy they had for him around NCT U/FT era (like grey hair era) and i ALWAYS think about this interview (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZMb7t_cH10) where they asked the team dance or music aND LIKE BESIDES WINWIN WHO OBV CHOSE DANCE TY CHOSE DANCE BUT I NEVER UNDERSTOOD IT BECAUSE its so different from how im used to when i watch dancers like i dont think taeyong necessarily worships dancing because he seems to LOVE music as much as dance because theyre both means to express himself thru (and i personally think he answered dance cuz he's "dancer" but fk do i know) and like from the moment limitless hit and he was put in a SOFT SWEATER and there were suddenly 9 people and johnny existed and carried them thru variety taeyong has significantly retreated more into the background and limitless is where he starts to FEEL his identity a little more and so he WRITES things like BDLI, he SAYS things like "i loved this line so much", because they're starting to move from their cool-but-not-quite-relatable, not quite touchable, exclusive and distant kind of music towards something more "true and free" which is at the core of the whole band's image (bUT LITERALLY!!
