I understand that, I really do. It's just. What bugs me about this situation is that they walked away, but then tried to insert themselves back into Branch's life like nothing happened. My sisters have brought up that point, and I get where they're coming from, but I see Branch's pain and can't just dismiss that. Yes, they were well within their rights to leave, but in doing so, they lost the right to be a part of Branch's life. They got their freedom, at the cost of their relationship with their youngest brother. There is no such thing as a free lunch. They can't have their cake and eat it too.
And that's what bugs me the most about this movie. They gave BroZone what they wanted at the expense of Branch and his mental health, but they also wanted to insert BroZone back into Branch's life as if NOTHING happened, and that's the part that really bugs me. On top of that, the entire bus scene is just horrible. Not only were (Sp)Bruce and Clay being unnecessarily petty towards John Dory (and yes, he was bossy, but not bossy enough that warranted that argument; I say this as an eldest sibling) but they were completely dismissive to what John Dory said in his defense. 4 little brothers was a lot of responsibility. Add that to the pressure of the band, and it's no wonder he was the first out that door. I don't blame him for that.
What I do blame him for is being dismissive and completely insensitive to Branch's feelings. There was NO reason to make fun of the fact that Branch wanted to have them back in his life. Maybe he wasn't expecting to live together and roast marshmallows, but he at the very least expected SOMETHING to come out of this adventure. But the way the bros were talking made it seem that they were coming together for Floyd and then immediately going back to ignoring each other. That's the vibe I got from that conversation, and I bet that's the vibe Branch got too.
I'll give credit where credit is due. John Dory ADMITTED to have gone back to the tree, but found it abandoned. He thought Branch was dead the entire time. My guess is that he tried to look for the trolls via the tunnels, but since they were collapsed, didn't have much luck and wrote him off as dead, believing himself to be the last (Pop) Troll left. That is, until Rockpocalypse. So if ANY brother has a right to be in Branch's life, it's John Dory. Because from the looks of it, (Sp)Bruce, Clay, and Floyd didn't even attempt to go back, or at least it wasn't mentioned in the movie. And that bugs me more. (Sp)Bruce and Clay didn't even bother with a goodbye (JD's goodbye was generic and over-the-shoulder, but at least he said one) and didn't seem like they ever attempted to go back (in Clay's defense, the Putt-Putt Trolls thought they were the only survivors, but I don't know if that's worse since it implies he was at the Troll Tree the entire time and just never bothered to go visit his Grandma and baby brother; which is just cruel) and we never got details on just WHAT Floyd was doing all these years.
That brings me to why I believe that Floyd was ironically the cruelest. Unlike the rest, he PROMISED to be back, and he said he'd be back SOON. Yet, he never did. How much do you want to bet Branch held him up on that promise; based on the fact that he wore Floyd's old vest constantly? He doesn't even have the Velvet and Veneer excuse because they had him for a couple of months at most. He was gone for 20+ years. And somehow everyone is just letting him off the hook because he was the only brother that gave Branch a personal goodbye after a quick talk, and the only one that didn't immediately baby him the second they reunited; and also he almost (momentarily did?) died. That bar is so low that the devil is tripping on it. That is literally all it takes for people to go easy on Floyd, and immediately turn around and crucify John Dory, the only one that ever gave an actual legitimate reason for leaving, and admitted to trying to come back. (Sp)Bruce's only problem was the way John Dory treated him, so him leaving makes zero sense since John Dory was the first one out the door. Clay's reason for leaving wasn't much better. He wanted to be taken seriously. If he had stayed home, with John Dory and (Sp)Bruce gone, he would have been the oldest, so being taken seriously would have come naturally. Finally, Floyd. Honestly, I think he had the worst reason. He wanted a solo career. Could that not have been accomplished at home? BroZone seemed to have been doing fine growing from home. Could he not have done the same with a solo career? Especially since the only brother at home was a literal infant, there wouldn't have been anyone to disrupt that solo career; at least not until Branch grew old enough to have his own music career. So what exactly was his reason? If he had said he wanted to travel the world, that maybe would have clarified why he needed to leave. It wouldn't have made it any better, but at least his leaving would make sense.
So okay, yes. They were teens who wanted to live their lives. Yes, they weren't in any way obligated to raise Branch. But they could have at least kept in contact. Based on the fact that (Sp)Bruce sent a postcard, and the whole thing with the ransom letter, there is a mailing system. How hard was it to write a letter to the one brother that they probably had no beef with (on account of him being a LITERAL INFANT) and their grandmother?
Also, I would like to point out that Rosiepuff dying would have made them Branch's next-of-kin, hence making raising Branch 100% their responsibility, so in the end, the whole Branch-wasn't-their-responsibility argument is moot. Before anyone argues against that point, I would like to direct everyone's attention to the movie Lilo & Stitch. I rest my case. And before anyone says it, judging by Branch's age when his grandma got eaten, they (minus Floyd probably) would have definitely been old enough to take care of him by then. So age isn't an excuse here either.
In conclusion, I forgive and (mostly) don't blame Branch's brothers for leaving. What I'm mad about is the lack of contact (JD gets a pass because he at least tried to come back but thought everyone was dead) and how they treated Branch upon reuniting. Floyd treating him as an adult and not the baby they left behind does not garner a pass because he never apologized for not coming back despite promising to do so. Clay also does not get a pass, even if he WAS the only brother that (barely) apologized for missing out on (practically all of) Branch's life. They had the right to leave, but they had no right to act that casually and dismissively towards Branch and reinsert themselves back into his life just like that. Especially since they practically missed out on his whole life.
Honestly I'm surprised Branch even remembers them at all.
Okay. So I'm doing this now, I'm playing devil's lawyer with fucking BroZone...
s i g h
Welcome to...
✨Branch's brothers didn't do anything wrong✨
(First part)
Quick disclaimer, english is not my first language. Oh! And this is going to get a little psychological
Let's remember the context of the characters, 'key?
When we get to the story, seeing through little Ramón's eyes, we see four boys who seem to hate each other. We don't know why.
Some may think that the reason they left was because their hatred for each other was greater than their love.
But let's think for a moment! About the family situation these kids were living:
Their parents are gone. They work doing something they haven't enjoyed in a long time. Even if their grandmother is there as a loving caretaker, she is juggling. Raising five kids of different ages, with different needs. She has to deal with the two teenagers, there's also one that is entering adulthood and other who is leaving childhood AND ON TOP OF ALL! She has. A. Fucking. Baby.
So the family situation was shitty, right?
And in that last fight he just- left because if he didn't, he was going to kill those three idiots or was going to kill himselve.
These were four angry, hurt and desperate for freedom teenagers.
And they did what angry, hurt and desperate teens do best. Run away from home
They didn't thought that they were abandoning their little brother, they thought that they wanted to live their lives. And, sorry, but I think they had the right to do so. Just as they also had no responsibility to take care of their baby brother.
Because, plain and simple, Branch's brothers are. NOT. His. Dad.
#dreamworks trolls#trolls brozone#trolls branch#trolls bruce#trolls clay#trolls floyd#trolls john dory#grandma rosiepuff#no but seriously#why didn't they at least try to keep in contact with branch?#also why did rosiepuff just let them walk out?#she literally was there but did nothing?#i have a feeling that she wasnt very attentive and only became so because jd was no longer there to push the responsibility off on#she became the only parental figure in branch's life but i guess she was negligent to the rest of brozone?#this just makes what (sp)bruce said on the bus even more cruel#he was essentially mocking an orphan#he who has a shit ton of kids and probably fears them losing him or brandy or both#if clay had said it that would have still been shitty but wouldve been less shitty because clay isnt a dad#that being said#really hope (sp)bruce doesn't walk out on his wife and kids#cuz as of now he doesnt have a good track record#especially when his kids become teens#id like to see him deal with that#and yes im a jd apologist in case that wasnt clear#both out of eldest solidarity and the fact that the dude had the only good reason to leave + he tried to come back#that and there are WAY too many jd haters#gotta balance it out and show the guy some love#there arent enough (sp)bruce+clay+floyd haters#i dont hate them per say but they really upset me#so yeah i guess im a hater

The thing with Kaia is that it doesn't matter if she wins 100 Oscars, she will always be Cindy's daughter. That will never go away
Especially with haters like you. And before you try and say you're not, you are!!! You rip that girl to shreds for nothing. There's absolutely no need for it. What ever happened to uplifting woman?
Girl what??
I have no problem with Kaia being Cindy's daughter rofl 🤣
Her being the daughter of famous parents is not the problem. Hollywood is full of nepobabies. Jamie Lee Curtis, Jennifer Aniston, Maude Apatow, Raff Law, John David Washington, Carrie Fisher, Emma Roberts, Nicholas Cage, Kate Hudson, Zoe Kravitz, Dakota Johnson, Lily Rose Depp, shooot.... even freaking Timothée Chalamet!!
I have nothing against Nepobabies. Hollywood is FULL of them. Some of our best actors are Nepobabies lol 😆
What I DO have a problem with is Nepobabies who are not talented in their craft still getting roles over other better actors, and Nepobabies who aren't even looking like they're WORKING to perfect their craft.
I also have an issue with Nepobabies who routinely refuse to acknowledge their privilege and keep trying to sweep it under the rug, or act so annoyed when ppl bring up their parents or the fact that they have connections that afforded them that spot that they're in right now. Kaia has done this for years. I'm not a fan of nepobabies who do this. 🤷🏾♀️
Others online have also stated (in far harsher ways imo) that they feel Kaia is tone deaf and out of touch w/reality. It's not just people on my blog who feel this way about her.
X
Look....Nobody cares if you're a nepobaby when you can hold your own. Nobody is wondering if you got that role just because of your "connections" when you're actually bringing smthg to the table.
How are we "haters" or "ripping Kaia to shreds" exactly? 😅 Girl, you need to get a thicker skin in life lol 😆 We said she's a Nepobaby.... ummm that's a FACT!
I said that all she needs to do is just stop talking about being unfairly judged and just work on her craft and let her acting speak for itself! 🤷🏾♀️
How is that being a hater? 🤔 I've already said I don't hate that girl. Hate is a very STRONG word imo.
Being HONEST about how you feel about someone isn't being a "hater". I actually think she's a good model. I'm just not a fan of her acting. 🤷🏾♀️ How many times do I have to say that?
All she needs to do is take a page from her boyfriend's book tbh lol. I never thought that Austin was ever a "bad actor", but apparently HE did, and he decided to continue to work on his craft to improve. He feels like he STILL has a lot to learn. He says so himself:
Kaia is already dating the man, so all she needs to do is just take a page from his book lol. 😅🤣
Idk why you think we just pick on Kaia. 😒 I guess you weren't here for the John David Washington dragging discussions?? 😅 Just do a search for his name on my blog lol .
So Anon, you can go ahead and be captain of the Kaia Fan Club if you wish, nothing wrong with that, but that doesn't mean that everyone HAS to like her. We talk about men AND women here on this blog, and sometimes you just need to be honest about people. It's not "hating" on them. It's just sharing your opinions. Nobody is dragging her or calling her "ugly" or being petty and calling her derogatory names. We're just saying that she could use some improvement.

I hate to sound like a toxic 'fan', but there's probably no other way to describe this, because this is a rant of everything I personally found wrong with Voltron, as a fan who does love the show but isn't blind to the fact that...they fucked up.
I know someone's going to say "well if you don't want to be a toxic fan don't post stuff like this" well excuse me but fuck off, i need an outlet after that emotional trainwreck
If you're here for positive allurance you ain't gon get that
If you're here for positive klance you ain't gon get that either
Because why? This season was a fucken mess and screwed most us over. Hello and welcome to my poor and angry Ted Talk
They shouldn't have introduced so damn many plot points and leave over half of them hanging
They lied? Multiple times? Example: was Keith's suicidal moment properly addressed like they said it would be?
THEY FUCKEN BAITED US WITH KLANCE. IF YOU WEREN'T GOING TO MAKE IT CANON WHY DO ANY OF THAT SHIT?? LM AND JDS I AM GODDAMN LOOKING AT YOU
Lance being Altean? You handle that well with good clues scattered throughout the seasons and DON'T EXPLAIN HOW HE IS ALTEAN TO BEGIN WITH?
Lotor. Was. Wrong. I'm turning to @astralscrivener on AO3 with their fix-it fic because yeah Lotor's arc was good one but felt fucking off because he deserved a redemption arc and I DON'T SEE THAT ANYWHERE
Rift monsters anyone? There is a whole beautiful avenue of story there and y'all just left it hanging
Allura was also kinda wronged? Her character started off inherently hating Galra and quick to jump to the worst conclusion about them. What Lotor did was shitty af, but the way Allura handled that entire situation invalidated her growth from hating Galra for being Galra. If she had properly grown as a character and the writers/showrunners actually showed that, she maybe would have reacted differently to SHOW it, to show that growth. This is just my personal opinion, the situation might have ended up the same either way, but i dont like how it was handled.
Call me a Klance fan for hating on the show but i am never going to get over or forgive this; KLANCE WAS WRONGED AND WE WERE FUCKING BAITED. I feel like many Klance fans wouldnt be as bitter as we are now if only we werent fucken BAITED
Tim Hendrick is the real MVP
Which reminds me; how is it good rep to show us Shadam, and we only know it's Shadam from the comic-con because it is not even PROPERLY PORTRAYED IN THE SHOW ITSELF that this is a gay relationship which could/would have been construed as roommates/friends NOT LOVERS, kill Adam so that so that we know little to nothing about him, then AT THE END OF THE SHOW pair Shiro with someone, again, we have little to no connection to? I feel like Dreamworks or whoeverthefuck was trying to squeeze too much rep into one single character, with Shiro being Japanese, disabled, mentally scarred from his trauma, oh and also gay but still a great role model. Look, i have no problem with Shiro being any and all of the above, but as has been mentioned by others, they relied too much on our love for Shiro, and tried to fit in too much rep in a single character when it could have been evenly spaces out between all or more than (1) one of them.
You know something ain't being done right when a plethora of fanon is lightyears better than canon. Again, dont get me wrong, i do love the story of vld, BUT that does not excuse the smell of the stanky shit they pulled multiple times.
...y'all there's 200k word fics out there better than what the beauty of Voltron derailed into
They had a chance to be a groundbreaking american animated show in terms of represention and instead they chose to skate close to the ground instead of shattering it by screwing up on multiple accounts.
LANCE WAS A WASTED CHARACTER. SO MUCH POTENTIAL, BEAUTIFUL POTENTIAL THAT WENT TO COMPLETE AND UTTER SHIT
As a hardcore Klance shipper, i say Allurance would have made more sense and sent a better message if it wasn't some half-assed shit sprinkled into s7 and shoved down our throats in s8. By making it canon you're essentially saying its totally fine for a guy to make repeated attempts on a girl when she's said no, and he'll eventually get her through dogged determination. LANCE WAS A FUCKIN REBOUND. WHY SAY HE'S GOING TO BE SOMEONES FIRST CHOICE (do not @ me about The Feud) THEN GET ALLURA TO 'CHOOSE' HIM AAAAFFFFTTTTEEERRRR LOTURA BECAME A CANON THING???
"Better an open-ending for Klance than a definite no possibility of it" bitch the fuck, don't bait us with Klance and make it such an obvious ship from FUCKING SEASON 1
"You'll be happy with the lgtb rep" *insert most deadpan expression in existence* does this look like the face of a happy camper
If you could make Korrasami a thing on freaking Nickelodeon, how did you fuck up so badly with Klance on NETFLIX?
"Voltron was targeted at 7-12 year old boys" KIDS WERE SEEING THAT KLANCE WAS HAPPENING. MY 6 YEAR OLD BROTHER SAW IT AND THE KID'S MORE INTERESTED IN FOOTBALL THAN LITERALLY ANYTHING ELSE IN LIFE
Unrelated but also related: if the Dragon Prince doesn't deliver on the GOOD lgbt rep they promised within the next 1 or 2 seasons, i am never trusting any american animated show that throws out the "oh we'll have lgbt rep just you wait n see" bone ever again
As someone who identifies being both demisexual and bisexual (demibi? Because apparently demigay Keith is a thing which just hurts now), i am sorely disappointed by, and hurt by voltron. The show isnt even bad! Its a good fucking story with good characters, a number of whom were utterly wasted. I think the whole mess vld derailed into in later seasons could have been avoided if they just didnt try for any romantic angles. Because, as they said, this is a show for 7-12 year old boys. Do you really think boys that age give an actual shit about romance.
Do you guys who read fanfics notice there is no 'fix-it' fics for the first 3 seasons? Those only turned up season 4 onwards. Does that say something? Hm...
I am just so angry and SAD and disappointed with THIS being the end to our journey with voltron. Just what the fuck. I know there's the comics but it's kind of not the same? And after what happened with the show i am wary about the comics now too.
Fucking KICK forever, fuck all of you haters and shit writers of the latter seasons, and bitches i can say that because I AM A WRITER AND HAVE BEEN ONE FOR 10 YEARS, I CALL IT LIKE I DAMN SEE IT
Finally, to end this rant, I leave you with what Tomoe from Kamisama Hajimemashita (dub) once said: I AM SEETHING. SEETHING WITH PURE RAGE.
*sits back and prepares for the hate*

Takeaways from last night:
- Faust must have been a bit confused since technically every goal was the dagger.
- Is Kopi injured or is this just his usual season slump?
- Kempe is definitely gunning for that payday and I wouldn't be mad if he got it probably.
- I wonder if Danault and Larks had issues when he was in Montreal? 🤔🤔
- Pius Suter is one of the few nice things Chicago gave us. Chelly is obviously the main one.
- Seider is a national treasure.
- I'd be way happier about the outcome if it wasn't against the Wings but hey, Cal got the shutout.
- Why is the Kings' powerplay SO BAD.
- ARTY PARTY. He's gonna light it up any moment now.
- I actually didn't know Danault could fight. Larks has thrown them before, but that was kinda of a surprise.
- I hope Lemieux scores on his old team. His dad is a piece of shit, but he's clutch af and I was glad when the Kings traded for him. Someone get the Tk*chuk bros some pacifiers.
- I was watching the 2012 games and realized that was 10 years ago now. Jfc. I miss Willie Mitchell ngl. And I miss Voynov, the player, not the wife-beater. And Richards. Ugh. Also, Carter's headshot is W I L D this season, I never realized his hair was that curly.
- Sad that Turcotte got the 'rona, was really hoping he'd get some substantial games in with this call-up.
- I'm only ever gonna cheer for Zegras when he's reppin' the stars and stripes, just saying.
- Was really hoping that Pasta would get a hatty tonight but I probably jinxed it by thinking the thing. I was a bit concerned for him this season, I'm already on the struggle bus after losing my dad, I can't eveb imagine the kind of turmoil one is in after losing a child. 😕😕
- I feel bad for DeBrusk but also idk why people always throw the Kings name out, they have too many players as is, and their fixer-upper project boy is Lias Andersson, they don't need more. JD is a headcase, and I have no doubt he can get his game back BUT it's not gonna happen if all he does is change scenery. Like this is a mental thing with him. The moment this grown ass man started talking about his "haters" in his post season interviews like....the writing is on the wall. And I think it goes without saying that if B's had taken Barzy instead they wouldn't be missing Krej as much.
- Look Oilers fans, I'm sorry. But take it from me, as a long suffering Wings fan. Kenny is a great GM when he can spend whatever the fuck he wants. *I'D* be a great GM if I had unlimited funds. But he has yet to ever impress me in the cap era. And get used to lots of old guys. He loves signing old dudes to stupid contracts. Anyway, good luck and godspeed.
- These takeaways went off the rails.
Anyway. That would have been a great game if only it were like...against the Hawks or something. Knowing LA though, the Hawks are gonna blow them out probably.

I’m So Over Modern Farmhouse: 5 Reasons to Put This Trend Out to Pasture
alabn/iStock; realtor.com
Chip and Joanna Gaines, the plucky design duo from Waco, TX, have a lot to answer for. Their signature style—”modern farmhouse”—is literally everywhere these days. We’re pretty sure if you went to Mars right now, you’d find apron sinks installed on those rovers.
It’s time for an intervention, people! Listen, I’m not a hater. I have watched and loved many episodes of “Fixer Upper.” But I’ve watched and loved many episodes of “Star Trek,” too, and you don’t see me trying to make my house look like the bridge of the Starship Enterprise. I’m just over it, and I don’t think I’m the only one. Here are five reasons why some of us believe modern farmhouse needs to go.
1. You can’t get away from it
Photo by John Hall Custom Homes Ubiquitous doesn’t even begin to describe it. Have you been to Target lately? There’s an entire Magnolia store jammed in between the pharmacy and toy section. You can pick up a copy of one of the two memoirs these guys have out along with your Gaines-approved pillar candles and cutting boards.
“Chip and Joanna are the hottest things right now,” says Jenni Lantz, a manager at DesignLens.com. “We’re in that frothy peak. But when something hits everywhere, it’s going to be done soon. People will get real tired of seeing shiplap.”
Yes, hi, I am one of those people, and I’d wager many more will soon come out of the refurbished woodwork. This trend has to reach saturation at some point, right?
2. Those kitschy signs
I call it “modern grandma.” Whether it’s individual metal letters hanging out above the upper kitchen cabinets, ordering me to “EAT” or the “live, laugh, love”–style wall signs, you’re just taking classic grandma style and putting it in a cool font.
Like truly, what’s the difference between your Etsy weathered barn wood inspirational quote and my Nana’s duck-stenciled “bless this mess” sign? The line is a lot finer than some people think.
3. All that stuff stuck to the walls
Oversize clocks. Battered farm implements. Rusty birdcages. You guys know you’re ripping your design style straight from the walls of a TGI Friday’s, right?
I don’t care how black-and-white-with-only-one-accent-color your room is, or how many oversize flower arrangements you include, sticking random stuff to the walls is always going to scream “fast-casual restaurant flair” to me. Can we please just stop?
4. Sliding barn doors
Photo by Su Casa Designs It is beyond time for this trend to die. Aesthetics aside, sliding barn doors are terrible at being doors. They don’t create any kind of seal between the wall and the door, so they do almost nothing to block out sound, and light and odors seep in through the sides.
They always feel kind of rickety, like the bottom of the door really wishes that it could be in a more secure track. Plus they are essentially designed to squash the fingers of young children left unattended near them. I’ve just never understood the appeal.
Furthermore, you have to give up an entire section of the wall for when the door is in the open position, so when it’s closed you’re staring at a blank wall topped by a heavy metal track.
Mark my words, barn doors are going to be the beaded curtains of our age. Our grandchildren are just going to look at them and ask, “Someone did this on purpose?”
5. It doesn’t even make sense anymore
Modern farmhouse, as practiced by the Gaineses, is a way of reclaiming Waco’s local design elements and making them desirable. Before “Fixer Upper,” Waco was the kind of town that even other Texans made fun of. Nobody would have believed that Waco could be ground zero for the next big trend in design.
In a story about the Gaineses’ meteoric rise in “Texas Monthly,” Taffy Brodesser-Akner uses Waco’s rusting downtown water towers as a metaphor for what the couple have done for the city. Locals who had considered them an eyesore their entire lives suddenly saw their beauty when fixed up and repurposed. A point of shame became a point of pride.
Modern farmhouse, at its core, was a bold statement about place: No, we’re not New York or L.A. or London or Paris. We’re Waco, and we’re proud of it.
How ironic, then, that modern farmhouse is the hottest new trend for urbanites. I’m certainly not saying you need to live on a literal farm to make modern farmhouse make sense. But when you’re in a high-rise condo on a block full of high-rise condos miles from the nearest green space, that reclaimed barn wood can look a little silly.
Likewise with brand-new McMansions filled with faux-weathered pie cabinets. Luxe-aspiring and farmhouse just don’t really jibe.
“I don’t see modern farmhouse going well with soaring ceilings,” says Lantz.
Like with any trend, modern farmhouse will never go away entirely. In places like Waco, filled with, well, modern farmhouses, it makes sense. But for the rest of us? It’s time to move on.
“My gut says in the next few years, we’re going to find a new style,” says Lantz. And get sick of that, too. But for now, let’s please stick a quaint vintage fork in this one first.

Resource of The Month: “Playing with FIRE” Documentary
Hi guys!
This month’s feature is going to be different than the last one because you can’t go out and consume it *just yet*, but I wanted to get it on your radar because it checks off everything I look for in recommendations and thought you’d enjoy a sneak peek of it
It’s a new full-length documentary called “Playing with FIRE“, and it aims to capture the truths around financial independence, as well as to dispel all the myths surrounding the growing culture too – despite them mainly coming from haters. (*Ahem* Suze Orman *ahem*).
There are also a ton of $$$ bloggers in it, and I may or may not make a guest appearance in the trailer around minute mark 0.22
Here’s a sneak peek below – check it out!!
[embedded content]
[Here’s the direct link to it too, fyi: youtube.com/watch?v=kD8uNm5ck0Q]
This film is going to be pretty epic when it comes out (early 2019), and the producers are hoping to get accepted to Sundance if things continue going well.
Which, so far so good! They released the trailer at FinCon the other week, and within 8 days of launching their Kickstarter campaign in conjunction, they already hit their $40,000 goal to finish up editing – and then some. In fact, at the time of this publishing they’re now at a whopping $62,860 raised! Which says very clearly that the community wants (and needs!) to see this!
And again why I’m sharing it with you today
The more the word gets out, the more people can realize that THERE ARE OTHER WAYS TO LIVE!, and that each of us has the power to make it happen for ourselves.
After all, it’s not about the *money* with this stuff, but what it can open up for you. Mr. Money Mustache summed it up brilliantly the other day:
Financial Independence does not mean the end of your working career. Instead it means, “Complete freedom to be the best, most powerful, energetic, happiest and most generous version of You that you can possibly be.”
I can’t think of anything better than that, can you?? Complete freedom to be the best, most powerful, energetic, happiest and most generous version of You that you can possibly be.
So so beautiful.
Here’s more about the documentary below, followed by links where you can learn more and sign up to be notified as soon as it comes out.
“Playing with FIRE follows 35 year old Scott Rieckens, his wife Taylor, and their toddler Jovie as they embark on a year-long odyssey to understand the rules of this sub-culture and test their willingness to reject the standard narrative of adult life, which basically prescribes: “Go to college, take out tons of student loans, buy a new car, take on a mortgage, buy another car and all kinds of other things, then work for 40+ years to pay for it all. If you’re lucky you might be able to retire at 65 and have a few years left to hit the golf course.”…
We’ve spent the last year travelling the country, meeting the amazing characters who have illuminated the path to Financial Independence. From Vicki Robin to Mr. Money Mustache, we’ve done our best to find the most compelling and informative stories to help uncover the world of FIRE and try to make sense of the framework for a mainstream audience. The intention of this movie is to inspire people to take a look at their financial health and ask themselves if they can do better. It’s to uncover this wild and wacky world of FIRE and present the soul of the community to the world…
We firmly believe there are too many people out there just like us, who had no idea how simple it was to get their financial world in order, and ultimately free ourselves from stress, shame and mandatory labor decades ahead of the prescribed schedule… This is an opportunity to pay it forward and give back, grab that life karma. ‘Fake nationalism’: Rahul Gandhi hits Modi, Shah, BJP where it hurts
Congress President Rahul Gandhi (left) greets party workers celebrating after BJP’s BS Yeddyurappa resigned ahead of his trust vote in the Karnataka assembly in New Delhi, on May 19, 2018; Rahul said what happened in Karnataka was nothing but an ‘attack on democracy’ successfully defended by the Congress and JD(S)
Rahul Gandhi demolished BJP’s fake nationalism mantle, pointing to how Yeddyurappa after resigning trooped out of Karnataka assembly along with BJP MLAs without waiting for the National Anthem to end
The rapid response of the Congress party’s leaders and lawyers to each new development in the Karnataka drama was stunning. Every single move that the BJP made in its power-grabbing exercise was countered so quickly that the saffron strategists were caught on the wrong foot time and time again.
But it was not speed alone that upset the BJP’s game-plan. It was not just quick-thinking and fast action that left Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, BS Yeddyurappa and Vajubhai Vala bewildered and bemused. It was intelligence and intellect.
In many ways the crisis in Karnataka helped the Congress party rediscover itself. It was a reminder of just how much talent, knowledge and experience exists at various levels in the country’s oldest political organisation.
For legal acumen, the party could turn to Abhishekh Manu Singhvi, Kapil Sibal, among others. For political expertise at the national level, there was Ghulam Nabi Azad, Ashok Gehlot and another dozen other stalwarts. In Karnataka itself, Siddaramaiah, DK Shivakumar and many more came to the fore. For adroit media management, there was the likes of Randeep Singh Surjewala, Sanjay Jha and Manish Tewari, to name just a few.
Above all, there is Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. Only after the full story of the Vidhana Soudha victory is researched, fact-checked and chronicled, can the details be confirmed. But it was Sonia’s stature and secular credentials that helped clinch the all-important deal with HD Deve Gowda’s Janata Dal (Secular) so swiftly and smoothly.
Right at the beginning of the press conference, Rahul Gandhi demolished Modi’s patriotism plank. Did you notice, asked the Congress chief gently, that after Yeddurappa announced his resignation, he along with BJP MLAs and even the Pro-Tem Speaker all trooped out without waiting for the National Anthem?
Rahul Gandhi demolished Narendra Modi’s patriotism plank
More than anything else, however, the mastermind behind the Congress party’s most spectacularly successful political operation since 2014 was undoubtedly Rahul Gandhi.
It was he who was not only the star campaigner during the raucous election but also the strategist-in-chief directing his rapid-response team during the gripping drama that followed the announcement of results.
In any high-octane operation, the key to success lies in staff selection, organisation, control and co-ordination, decision-making and direction. The Congress president, barely six months since shouldering what many have described as Mission Impossible, has scored high marks in each of these basic principles of political leadership, at least insofar as handling the Karnataka crisis is concerned.
To Rahul-baiters and haters, it might sound quite preposterous to make such an assertion of Rahul Gandhi’s hands-on stewardship during the management of the crisis. But all they need to do is view the 15-minute video of the Congress president’s press conference immediately after the unfortunate Yeddyurappa struggled to hold back his tears of bitter disappointment while eating humble crow on the floor of the Karnataka Assembly on Saturday afternoon.
Not just watch the video with a vacant or biased mind, but to note what he said, how he said it and analyse the implications of all that he said.
First off—right at the beginning of the press conference—Rahul Gandhi demolished Narendra Modi’s patriotism plank. Did you notice, asked the Congress chief gently, that after Yeddyurappa announced his resignation, he along with BJP MLAs and even the Pro-Tem Speaker all trooped out without waiting for the National Anthem?
Watch the video of BJP MLAs walking out below:
https://twitter.com/NaliniSingh_/status/997901450553516032?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E997901450553516032&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nationalheraldindia.com%2Fopinion%2Fcongress-rahul-gandhi-hits-narendra-modi-amit-shah-bjp-where-it-hurts-demolished-fake-nationalism-mantle
Shocking. Here was a BJP chief minister, his newly-elected party members and the hand-picked pro tem speaker Kombarana Ganapathy Bopaiah with all his famed experience of notorious Speakership—all staunch patriots and nationalists to the core—showing utter disrespect to Jana Gana Mana on live television with the whole nation watching.
Having disrobed the BJP of its fake nationalism mantle, Rahul proceeded to unravel the other myth about Modi—his intolerance for corruption and his stirring pledge that he would neither consume nor allow anyone else to consume any food cooked in the rancid oil of filthy lucre.
What happened, Sri Pradhan Sewak, the young Congress leader seemed to say. Were your party bosses in Bangalore not desperately trying to bribe, buy and purchase horses in the single largest political bazaar? Were they not doing so at your behest and your express instructions? Are there not several hair-raising audio recordings testifying to the fact that MLAs were being lured with lavish promises of “100 times your total assets”?
These may not be exact quotes from Rahul Gandhi’s address to the press but that is what he meant.
As for actual quotes, here is a beauty. He told the assembled journalists: "You've seen openly how the PM directly authorised purchasing of MLAs in Karnataka. So the idea that PM spreads in the country that he is fighting corruption, is a blatant lie. He encourages corruption. Pradhan Mantri brashtachar hain. (He is corruption)".
Watch the highlights of Rahul Gandhi’s press conference below:
https://twitter.com/INCIndia/status/997845112364380160?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E997845112364380160&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nationalheraldindia.com%2Fopinion%2Fcongress-rahul-gandhi-hits-narendra-modi-amit-shah-bjp-where-it-hurts-demolished-fake-nationalism-mantle
Nobody has ever said that before. But that is because nobody has been speaking the truth very much in the last four years. Especially in the national media. Rahul Gandhi had a few words to say about the fake news media too.
Taking of the atmosphere of fear that had been created in the country, he referred to the pressure that the media was working under and pointedly added a word of praise for “some of you who are brave”.
The thrust of Rahul’s truth-telling was aimed at Modi himself. But he did not spare Modi’s Man Friday, the BJP president. Referring to the failure of the immoral power-grab in Karnataka, he said the people of the country had shown “murder-accused Amit Shah” that the Constitution is bigger than money power. Almost in passing, he had come out with another beauty.
It was almost astonishing how much the Congress president—who is always portrayed by the BJP as being hopelessly inarticulate—was able to convey in just 15 minutes.
Because he also underlined a significant point: “My message to the Prime Minister:, he said, “is that the Prime Minister is not bigger than the people of the country. He is not bigger than the Supreme Court and he is not bigger than Parliament”.
Apart from all that, he also sent out a clear signal about his stand on unity of all non-BJP political parties and forces. It was a news-worthy declaration from the leader of a major national party, and it will have been duly noted by various regional parties across India on the road to the Lok Sabha elections.
This article was published in the National Herald, a newspaper founded by the first prime minister to the Republic of India:

THIS WEEK IN SCHADENFREUDE, where Chip Kelly replaces every coach
It’s your weekly tour of the most infuriated in college football internet.
The ninth week of the college football season was busy. It was especially so during the middle shift, when a bunch of games ended within a half-hour and featured losses by No. 2 Penn State, No. 4 TCU, No. 16 Michigan State, and No. 17 USF. Also losing were a couple of mediocre SEC teams with big fanbases.
It’s This Week in Schadenfreude, Week 9, your tour of the angriest in CFB internet.
Texas A&M (lost 35-14 to Mississippi State)
This is your moment, TexAgs message boards.
This poster has a suggestion to replace the embattled Kevin Sumlin:
The rationale:
He couldn't be worse than what we have now.... Well, at least it would be entertaining.
This comment’s not made entirely in jest. It’s noted that Manziel is interested in coaching college football. Ironclad plan, IMO.
One suggestion is to simply replace the Texas A&M logo on the Aggies’ helmets with a different illustration:
Suggestions for new helmet decal? Mine is ole sarge sucking his toe
We are a joke. A consistent cursed joke. We don't learn from mistakes and continue to make them. Administrators, coaches, decisions, mishaps. All a joke. Notice I don't include players. It's not there fault. They are persuaded to come here and they are just following orders. I think a decal of ole sarge sucking his toe is perfectly acceptable to replace the ATM on our helmets. It's very fitting. Like i always say....Aggie is....is Aggie does!
Some other expressions of postgame sadness:
Everything sucks and I want to die
I will have no liver to donate to our smoothies after tonight.
More beer for my tears.
Is someone calling for this team to hire Chip Kelly?
Yes, and it’s time the luxury box elites stop ignoring the former NFL head coach.
Chip Kelly - it's time
For everyone here sipping their scotch and smoking cigars cackling about hiring Morris - NO. ITS time to bring in a proven WINNER and get **** done!!! Get this man now
Florida (lost 42-7 to Georgia, then fired Jim McElwain)
The loss to Georgia was bad, but everyone knew what was going to happen before it did. We’ll fast-forward to Sunday, when the Gators finally cut loose McElwain.
The Gators are the preeminent open job in the country. There’s going to be lots of interest in hot, young, up-and-coming candidates, such as this guy:
Les miles
why is les miles not being considered. He's won in the sec and has won a national championship. He has proven himself unlike a lot of these coaches being named. We took risks on mac and will so why not go with a guy that knows the sec and what it takes to win
Another unique idea here:
Is anyone else calling for this team to hire Chip Kelly?
Too many to count. These are just from the AD’s mentions on Sunday afternoon:
I want Chip Kelly at Florida. Make it happen @ScottStricklin
— Scoochie (@HAleYeAhh) October 29, 2017
Get me Chip Kelly @ScottStricklin
— JD (@JustinDowell2) October 29, 2017
@ScottStricklin love the move today. No need to waste anymore time with this nonsense. Please call Chip Kelly ASAP!
— Jason Krehbiel (@jaxsurfer84) October 29, 2017
@ScottStricklin *clears throat* Chip Kelly! #GoGators
— Dabdaddy (@j_martin25) October 29, 2017
.@ScottStricklin yo u got Chip Kelly’s agent on call or nah?
— Jodak Orange (@JodakOrange) October 29, 2017
@ScottStricklin chip Kelly. That is all ....
— carl (@Gatorpike) October 29, 2017
Tennessee (lost 29-26 at Kentucky and didn’t fire Butch Jones)
Vols fans are trying to figure out if they, too, can get out of a coaching buyout by finding their coach might’ve said a falsehood in public. The good people at VolNation.com, regulars on this feature this year, wonder:
Can't we dig up some lies that Butch has said?
Surely he's told a lie or to while here. What about lying a hot dog bbq or something like Pearl did? Anything would be fine.
“I remwmber him saying he would win games,” one person responds.
“Best staff in the country,” another says.
Another poster wants to fire athletic director John Currie, who was just hired, because he’s waited too long to fire Jones. But another poster thinks Currie’s playing a long game:
Suspicion on Currie
I’ve been thinking through some of this stuff. Everyone is focused on John Currie firing Butch. He could be using this time to hook the next coach and could very well have that guy ready by the time Butch is dismissed. Which would actually be pretty clever seeing as how we would be examining his every move. Instead, the fans are focused on the “fire Butch” movement week to week. There is more to this story than meets the eye. I think he is using this time right now to land his guy. An AD’s legacy is always hinges on a big hire. He’s up to more than we know. Just a thought.
What’s the truth?
This next thing’s from before the Kentucky game, but I’m including it anyway. Here’s a thread about Florida State’s national championship-winning coach maybe wanting the Tennessee job. (He doesn’t.) Let’s follow along:
Rumors of Jimbo Fisher wants the Tennessee Job
Things are heating up down there in Tallahassee. Rumors swirling about Jimbo wants in on Tennessee. What are your thoughts?
Is that a joke? Maybe. I’m not certain. But these are serious replies:
“No Thanks.”
“No way. Jimbo has a far easier task in the ACC than in the SEC. fake news.”
“No thank you. I'd rather have Scott Frost. If Jimbo can't win with the talent they have at FSU, I doubt he can at Tennessee.”
“Gruden > Fisher”
Is someone calling for this team to hire Chip Kelly?
You know it.
@John_Currie DO YOUR JOB AND GO GET CHIP KELLY
— Zach Cardwell (@z_cardwell) October 29, 2017
Go to hell @John_Currie
— CHIP KELLY OR BUST (@jacob_greer7) October 29, 2017
Penn State (lost 39-38 at Ohio State)
At Rivals’ Blue and White Illustrated message board, one poster was sure that pollsters’ ANTI-PENN STATE BIAS would plummet the Nits down the rankings.
Here's How IT IS.
Any other team would fall 1 or 2 places, but because it's us look for a huge screwing and drop.
Penn State fell five places in the AP Poll, from No. 2 to 7. Previous top-five teams to lose games this year fell six spots (FSU), seven spots (Ohio State), 10 spots (USC), nine spots (Oklahoma), and six spots (Clemson).
Someone’s thoughts on offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead, whose team just scored 38 points against an elite defense and is averaging nearly 40 per game:
Franklin is the Guy for PSU but Moorhead's Offense Sucks
he sucks.
Here’s a, uh, unique comparison for James Franklin:
Is CJF College Football's version of Dusty Baker?
GREAT locker room guy, players love him, teams have good chemistry.
Also a lousy tactician without that instinct to know how to close a game out. This is now the 6th example of such a game in his Penn State career (Michigan 2014, Maryland 2014, Illinois 2014, Northwestern 2015, USC 2016, Ohio State 2017). Vanderbilt's losses to Tennessee in 2011, South Carolina in 2012, and Ole Miss in 2013 are examples from earlier in his career.
Last night looked painfully like the Reds 2012 NLDS loss to the Giants. It was RIGHT THERE! And we didn't seize the moment.
This person’s super mad about a former Pitt coach being on FOX’s on-site studio show, as he is every single week of the season:
Dave Wannstedt
Can we lead a charge to get this know-nothing marble mouth, PSU hater kicked off BTN. I mean really, he's the first guy to high five all the buckeye faithful????. Why is a no-nothing complete idiot Pitt wannabe, on Fox and BTN????? I absolutely hate this guy, he's dumb as a rock and pretty much always wrong. He's a homer for anything anti-Penn State. I cannot stand that man...................
At SB Nation’s Black Shoe Diaries, this commenter took the result well:
I am done watching Penn State.
Let’s be real if we don’t get into the CFP which we won’t now. There is no point anymore. You know why no one believes in us? Because we always do this shit. We look promising and then drop a game. No excuse when we were up by 15. The football god’s gifted us a special team TD and a nice fumble. The refs were decent. Our defense simply let us down. We can never just get it done. The defense blows a 15 point lead. Looked very amateur and Trace over threw it how many times? And the oline sucks. Fuck this team Fuck all the high hopes because they never get it done. Fuck football. No use in getting worked upover a silly fucken game with pampered athletes chasing a ball. That’s what dogs do
Is someone calling for this team to hire Chip Kelly?
Not that I could find. But less than two years ago, this guy was!
@SandyB_PSUAD Fire James Franklin. Lets get Chip...
— HB (@B27491) January 2, 2016
We all reach this again at one time or another.
Florida State (lost 35-3 to Boston College)
The Seminoles are 2-5. Their season is lost.
Boston College isn’t that bad. But losing to B.C. is still a come-to-Jesus moment for a lot of fans. See Louisville fans after the Eagles got their team a couple weeks earlier:

We’re going to do this again.
SB Nation presents, “A Series of Florida State Fans Publicly Reckoning with the Point that Their Team Just Lost to Boston College.”

And perhaps the realest realization of all:
i literally was just cool until i clicked on espn and remember that we lost by 32 FUCKING POINTS TO BOSTON COLLEGE

Is someone calling for this team to hire Chip Kelly?
Yes.

just to name a few...
Fisher’s buyout is roughly $40 million.
