Episode 509.5 - "A Jackie Burkhart Christmas"

Comments: In the episode “Black Dog” (5x09), Jackie tells Donna and Eric her mom is on her way home from Mexico, and we have no reason to disbelieve it. In “Bring It On Home” (5x19), however, we learn her mom didn’t actually come home at all, and we eventually learn why.

I wanted to show the in-between, how Pam Burkhart’s absence affects Jackie emotionally and otherwise, and the choices Jackie makes because of it.

Point Place Time™  would have us believe Pam is gone only three months total. In “Who Are You” (6x15) when Jackie learns Pam has come back, Jackie says, “Well, I don’t have anything to say to my mom. She ditched me three months ago, and that’s all I need to know.”

On the show, Pam is gone from before the time of “Black Dog”. Even if we take Jackie’s line above to mean she felt ditched (or abandoned) by her mom only once Jackie’s dad is arrested -- and viewed her mom as being on vacation before then -- no way only three months pass from the ninth episode of season 5 to the fifteenth episode of season six.

In today’s comic, we learn Pam has been gone for over half a year already. Looking at it now, I think a month or two would’ve been more realistic. Still, by the time Pam does come back, she’s gone for much longer than three months. She’s gone for at least a year. Two Christmases have gone by before “Who Are You”. Two winters.

But in Point Place Time™, going from winter, spring, summer, fall, and winter again equals three months.

So fun fact I’ve actually only watched like 70% of the whole show, pretty much only the supercorp scenes via clips and stuff buuuut from what I’ve gleaned(which is a lot actually), we have:

1x16 this is one of the most popular ones and it just has a cool concept seeing the superhero be evil and deal with the consequences
