Mother’s Day 2019...I had a great day with my peanut, even tho the weather was crazy! We went from rain to sun to hail to rain, thunder, sun, and more rain. Appreciating Those Teachers

 This week is teacher appreciation week and I can’t say enough about my favorite teacher, Robin Ubaldini. 😊 Yes, that is my wife but she has also been teaching for……. well, longer than I’ve know her; we will just keep it at that 😊.  Most of her career she has taught elementary education and since we moved back to AZ, it is middle school age.  If have always been incredibly proud of her for so many sacrifices she has made over the years and how much love, heart, and passion she gives to her students, her teams, and her schools.  Up until this year, I’ve heard from her teammates, peers, administration, and teachers how great of a teacher she has been and there have been a couple times when graduated students have come back to her and thanked her; that is awesome to witness.  I know she is an outlier and gives so much to ensure her students end the year better than when they came in.  Now, over the last 18+ years she has had copious amounts of practice with me since I can occasionally, yes that’s right 😊, act like a 13-year-old boy!!  Although current circumstances are not ideal, I have been able to witness her teaching firsthand since everything is now done via WebEx/Zoom.  I get to see/hear her teaching her classes each day and her patience is remarkable.  I know it has been an adjustment, specially not being able to be in the classroom with her kids; I know she misses them and wishes she can be with them, but her transition and adaptation to these new situations has been, well, cool to watch.  I know it hasn’t been easy, but she is handling it incredibly well.    

 So, I am sharing my appreciation for Robin, the best teacher I know.  I can say that because, well, she teaches but more specifically for what she has taught me over the years.  I continue to learn from her each day; hope she can say the same.  Patience is probably the biggest lesson; compassion and letting go of the bit stuff.  She has taught me not to take life so seriously and to ease back a bit.  Still working on many of these 😊 and likely will for many, many years. She has helped me realize what is truly important; perspective probably is the best word to describe that.  Love…. she has taught me how to truly love, how to sacrifice, and also how to be present.  We continue to wind down this road we call marriage, partnership, love - & I continue to learn new lessons; about myself and about her.  I think we are still trying to “figure each other out;” but that isn’t exactly accurate.  We are not trying to fix or change each other but, I think, we are trying to figure out how we can be better for each other; for our children!!  Yeah, she can comment on this if she likes so I won’t speak for her (even though I kinda just did 😊) but I know that I am practicing each day to find new ways to be a better version of me, for her, and our daughters. Hopefully, in that process, I come out being a better person for any and all that I may have the great fortune to meet.  We, meaning us as humans, tend to think about “what if’s,” like what if I hadn’t met Robin? I’ve thought about it in the past and it disappears quickly because I couldn’t image who, or what I would have been without her. I have a bit of an idea, but my life has changed in these last 18+ years, I believe for the better. I believe I have changed too because of many factors, but, because of one incredible teacher.  

 As I put this blog out today, I want to say thank you again to Robin.  I also want to say thank you to all those teachers out there, I know many of them having a wife that is a teacher 😊; without the pandemic going on you are incredible. You are impacting our children, changing the future, and should be proud of what you do.  Considering the circumstances, it is awe-inspiring to see and hear so many of the stories.  Thank you for not giving up on yourselves and our kiddos.  Also, I want to acknowledge those parents out there that have had to dive, headfirst, into homeschooling.  The appreciation goes out to you, and your kids too 😊, but keep up the great work.  It ain’t easy but pull out the great things that you/we get to experience each day in these times, we get to appreciate those so very close to us so much more!!

Love this picture because it sums up their relationship so well. This is the difference having school staff investing in your kid makes. She was miserable in school, and then she became BFFs with the vice principal. Then a new counselor came to the school, and they turned things around. So thankful for teachers and administrators who care about our kids. #thanksteachers #grateful

Thank you Teachers!

Today is National Teacher Day, a day to recognize and appreciate the ways a teacher impacted your life or the role they play in your family. National Teacher Day was first proclaimed by US Congress in 1953 at the urging of Eleanor Roosevelt. It was also recognized in 1980. Today, the date is observed on Tuesday of the first full week in May. And since we’re never too old to learn something new, here are some life tips from teachers.

* Don’t be afraid to make a mistake - a pencil has an eraser and a keyboard has delete key. * Arrive early for anything important. * There is not one way to learn any one thing - find what works for you. * If you have something to say, share it clearly with everyone. * It’s perfectly fine not to know the answer to everything. * Reading can help you live a thousand lives, even from your small corner of the world. * Always buy new supplies at the beginning of the year. OK, maybe this is my advice, but a new pen and pad of paper can really kick start productivity!
