You know that feeling when you're in the middle of giving a speech at your grandmother's funeral and an EARTHQUAKE hits?
Yeah, me too.

27 Kudos???!!!!
There are not words to express how happy and grateful I am to have passed 25 kudos on my fic "You Know The Scars On My Soul - I'd Give You Every Fractured Future"!!!
It has been so much fun (and at times stressful and cathartic lol) to write, and I'm over the moon to know that other people are enjoying the story and characters ^-^
As a special thanks to celebrate this milestone, here's some fun facts about one of our two main characters - Phoebe!
Her favorite comfort food is avgolemono (lemon chicken soup) because it was the first meal her Yiayia taught her how to make
It took her eight tries to figure out how to make a good dolma that wasn't under or over stuffed
She is scared of moths
Her favorite holiday is Christmas
She is an expert at Krav Maga

I implore you, please don't kill patrochilles in AFWHI, please let them be happy I'm desperate here
(also I fucking adore your work, I've been binge reading your writing big time. Finished the Disaster AU in a day, I am starved for more of it, keep up the phenomenal work! Thank you for sharing it with us, and dearly hope you don't ever get tired of patrochilles 😭)
OH ALSO, your portrayal of my culture is genuinely amazing! I was honestly out here sometimes wondering whether you're also Greek or if you just did a lot of research; in YAWD mentions of yiayias, chickpea stew as well as stuffed peppers and tomatoes, the panhellenic exams etc were all spot on!
Not so fun fact: it's notoriously impossible to do well in those exams if you don't attend frontistyrio: afternoon classes. Education here sucks ass in lykeio🤞
I have a question about Pat though: in eleventh grade we choose a "direction" (in Greek, the word is κατεύθυνση), humanities or sciences (you already know this, I just like giving context anyway). In twelfth grade, humanities stay the same but the sciences are split in economics, health, and, again, sciences.
We have four subjects for the Panhellenic exams:
Humanities: Greek, Latin, Ancient Greek, history
Economics: Greek, Math, ΑΟΘ and ΑΕΠΠ
Health: Greek, Chemistry, Physics, Biology
Sciences(solos your faves): Greek, Math, Chemistry, Physics
If the original plan was for Pat to apply for architecture with Achilles, they'd both have to be in the sciences in twelfth grade.
If Pat got in a literature and theatre program, however, he'd have to have been in humanities from the beginning, along with Briseis who went to law school.
It's not possible for him to get into that program any other way; but I could've sworn that he had chosen sciences??
(it would be incredibly embarrassing if you're also Greek and I've just been talking to you about things you've experienced first hand as if you haven't; apologies in advance 😭)
Hi hello!!! Thank you so much for this ask, I'm so glad you've been enjoying my work! And yes I am Greek ahah but please don't feel embarrassed, I can see how Pat's panhellenic situation would have been a little confusing for someone who is familiar with, well, Panhellenics. My thought process was like this: Patroclus was indeed in the Sciences "direction" because he wanted to get into architecture with Achilles at first. However, back when I was at school there was a loophole where even if you were in the Sciences direction, if you had taken an electoral class in a Humanities subject, then you could apply for some schools in the Humanities field. And that was the same for the other directions too: for instance, if you were in Humanities and had taken Biology as your electoral, then you could apply for some schools in the Sciences field like veterinary school, nursing, midwifery or something like that. Theatre studies was one of those schools that one could get into from the Sciences if they had taken I think either history or literature as their electoral, so that's what I had Patroclus do.
Also, btw, back in my day we only had 3 major directions (Humanities, Sciences, Economics) and a lot more subjects in each one. Disasters is very much based on my own experiences, so I had both Pat and Achilles suffer extra with all those subjects they had to study in cram school/frodistirio 🤣 Processing the trauma of Greek education one fic at a time 🫠
Also also I'm so glad you're loving As Fate Would Have it so far! And sorry about the heartbreak of the last couple chapters lol!!! I'm right there with you with wanting those two to be happy and in love forever so I'll see what I can do 🫡
I hope you have a great day!!

hey sorry if this is weird but i just wanted to say thank u for the greekposting?? im american but my yiayia’s family was greek, and since she was the last like. Actually Greek member of the family, and she passed away earlier this year, the whole fam has been feeling sort of disconnected from this big aspect of our collective upbringing. so the whole mangas post really hit in particular because thats pretty much to the time period my great grandparents and their siblings would talk about the most when they were still around.
anyway sorry if that was kind of a bummer BUT i just wanted to say i appreciate the infodump lol
Oh my gosh no need to be sorry at all!! I completely understand and I'm actually really happy you went out of your way to send this message, especially sharing what's gotta be a really rough experience. I'm really sorry for your loss. I get it though culture is important and it sucks when you feel removed from it (though this is very different, whenever I go to Greece I'm often treated more American than Greek and vice versa here so there's a level of removal felt). But I am really glad you got to hear about it from your yiayia and her siblings, that's really heartwarming and even if she's no longer around the things she shared with you are still yours and that's never going to go away. And if my cultural infodumping can help shine more of a light on that feeling I'm very happy to hear that, but still send my condolences for it. Thank you for sending this ask, it might not be a happy subject but it's not a bummer because there's so much kindness in it. <3 I genuinely wish you and your family the best, good luck my friend

Hey quick update turns out doing taxidermy does in fact make seeing a loved ones body easier for me, so maybe I'll be posting about as much as usual :)
The funeral is Friday and I'll be going to a monastery afterwards to bury the body and wear clothing covering my Whole self so that'd be a day when I don't post and then it's just whenever my yiayia needs to go and mourn bc it's 4 hours away
So thanks I'll still be pretty active, lol
Hey uhh my papou just died so uhh quick hiatus guys? Give me like , 40 days I think, or very early for coping but I will be back don’t unfollow
