I have been going through terrible mood swings the last couple of weeks. It's been the worst episode I had since I stopped drinking a year ago. It's been on and off, and I've been surviving on autopilot on most days, trying to find comfort in anger and numbness, which isn't healthy at all.

I haven't been dealing well with it, which is quite obvious, I'm afraid. But today (and this is a very cautious but) is the first day I've been feeling more balanced. Which is why I wanted to talk about it and thank everyone who is still around. I know I don't have to do this, and I'm not sure if anyone cares about it, but I think about the anons and the incredibly kind messages I get from time to time and I know I've been mean and kinda cruel. There is obviously no excuse for it, but I don't want people to think that I don't care or that I don't like them. Of course I do. No matter if we've talked before or not. I care about you guys, and I want you to be well. Life is so fucking short and none of us know how their lives are gonna end, but we're here now and I don't want to spend my time on this earth being cruel and heartless, that's not who I am and definitely not who I want to be. I'm not good when it comes to being alone, which might be very obvious as well. But I've been around my family the last couple of days, I've seen the apples on my mother's apple trees grow. We baked apple pie, and I ate my first strawberries this year. Today, I watched the sunset. I saw some deer, and I took care of my mom's horses. I am not easy, I know that and I'm not sure how long I'll get until my brain is fucking with me again, sometimes it can take months, but someone once helped me to understand that we can't predict the future and it's important to live life day by day. I'm trying this whole thing. It's a slow thing and a lot of work, but I do want to try it.

Again, I'm not sure who or if someone is reading this at all, but if you do, I care about you. I am glad you are around, and I hope that your life is kind to you. Thank you for existing.

I'm always in need of songs, and oh my GOD how did I not already put this one in the playlist holy shit. It's so fucking perfect, like wtf how did I not think of it myself, you're a genius.

And now I begin a too long analysis of the lyrics in relation to Sorry It's Locked, because I can't help myself and it's the only way I can explain how perfect this song is for Jay and Alex in that damn fic.

Jay knows, deep down, that Alex being all sweet to him, kissing him on the cheek and the top of the head and cuddling him and all that, doesn't actually mean that Alex loves him. He's hopeful, he wants to believe it, but he knows deep down that Alex doesn't really love him and that it's all either to make him feel better, or to build him up so that Alex can tear him down all over again.

Alex rarely ever touches him softly, that's not their thing, so the sudden change (outside of, like, aftercare after scenes) is super noticeable and instead of being like "Oh maybe he likes me" it just highlights to Jay how Alex doesn't really love him.

When I leave I'll pull on the last of our strings And you'll see That there's always the next thing There's always the next thing

This bit feels more like Alex's thoughts about the whole thing, he's pulling on all the strings of Jay's love and affection so that he can break his heart and "save him" from everything by making him hate him enough to finally actually leave for good and stop trying to help. "There's always the next thing" is Alex trying to force Jay to move on. Obviously that doesn't happen, Jay's completely infatuated and no matter how badly Alex hurts him he'll always want to come back and help him.

From Alex's perspective he's doing something good, breaking Jay's heart by getting his hopes up and then dashing them is for the greater good, it's to save Jay from the Operator. He's giving Jay the chance to live, to move on and find "the next thing".

This bit is very Sorry It's Locked, like, this perfectly explains Alex's fucked up thought process about everything he's doing (literally, this explains it better than I did in the Alex pov fic I wrote to try and explain Alex's thinking lmao (in my defence tho, I wrote it to try and fix my procrastination so it was never gonna be great))

Ouch "The best of our times were the worst of your life" literally just the perfect explanation of Jay and Alex's relationship. Jay's lying only to himself when he tries to act like there was anything good about that relationship and like it wasn't something they both should have called off way before they did (or shouldn't have started in the first place)

This whole bit honestly feels like they'd be sung by both of them (why is this suddenly a duet? Why are they suddenly in a musical? God knows, it's the only way I can explain how this song fits them lol) Like, they both hid how their relationship wasn't healthy, mostly by just not talking about it and acting like they were just friends when they were with their other friends.

"Was it all you had dreamed?" Again, both of them. They knew neither of them were going to change. Jay realised early on that he wasn't going to get anything real with Alex, but he stayed anyway and that kinda made him hate Alex (just in a way that even Jay himself doesn't really realise it's resentment). Alex realised too late that Jay wasn't going to change, that he wasn't going to hate him no matter how much he tries, but he keeps trying to make him hate him anyway.

They were both exactly what they knew they'd be to each other, and they hated it but there was nothing they could do to change it.

Even back in uni he was so sick of the way his not-relationship with Alex made him feel. They fucked -> he felt amazing -> they went their separate ways -> Jay felt like absolute shit because he knew it'd never mean to Alex what it meant to him. He was just on a constant rollercoaster of the highest highs plummeting into the lowest lows, but the adrenaline of the climb and the drop was so exhilarating (and all that he knew) that it just kept him on the rollercoaster indefinitely.

Then Alex moved away, and uni ended, and for Jay everything was finally gonna be in the past and he could move on. Except he didn't move on because he was unfortunately still infatuated with Alex, hence why all the relationships he tried to have after Alex just didn't work and were only ever about sex.

I have now decided that Jay never kissed any of the people he had relationships with after Alex.

Alex pouted, her brows knitted in a frown as she stared blankly at your post; constantly refreshing it to see whether or not you replied to her comment yet.

But every time she does, she gets disappointed—not seeing your reply just makes her grow fonder of your presence.

With a deep sighed, Alex turned off her phone and buried her face in y/n’s favorite pillow. The one she uses every time they sleep, the one that has her lingering smell on it, and the one Charles and Alex coddles up whenever they miss you. Which is constantly so they fight about whoever gets it.

Alex stared blankly at the ceiling, her mind was clouded with the thoughts of you. She just misses you so much it’s killing her. Literally.

The only reason you were out was because of your job; you love modeling that’s why they couldn’t have the guts to stop you from going. But now they just wished that they stopped you.

“Ughhhhh” she sighed, dragging the h along the tone of her boredness. Her voice echoing around the empty room which caught the attention of their boyfriend.

“What’s the matter, bébé?” Charles asked, peeking his head into the doorframe.

Alex lazily dragged her head up to face charles. “Everything’s cool, i just miss her is all” she mumbled, her voice laced with sadness and longing.

Charles smiled emphatically, he knows what it’s like to miss you— he’s going through that too but he’s not taking it as hard like Alex though. He’s trying to act strong for the both of them, i mean someone has to, right?

Alex felt the couch dipped down as Charles sat besides her frame. “Should we call y/n and see what’s she’s up to?” He asked, rubbing soft circles around her back.

“No” she replied all muffled due to her head still facing down and resting on your pillow.

She wanted them to call you; to hear your sweet voice. Alex wanted nothing more than that, but then again she doesn’t want to disturb you and ruin your fun.

“Let’s just watch a movie and try to get our minds of her, yeah?” Sighing defeatedly, alex nodded her head and muttered a low ‘sure’ making Charles smile happily.

So that’s what they did, they watched a movie, and ate all the food they could find in the house until they fell asleep.

They woke up the very next day— saw your recent post and started to miss you like crazy again.

It's the way Alex relaxes and his eyes flutter close when you kiss the side of his mouth. It's the way he softly murmurs, "Boss...", you murmur, "Babe..." in response, he groans in faux exasperation, and you thank whoever heard your prayers that he's safe in your arms again.

It's the way Alejandro lets his guard down and silently brings you into a hug. His face is buried in the crook of your neck and your arms squeeze him back as tightly as you can. It's one of those moments where you can feel the weight he carries in the tension in his body but it's also a reminder that just as he watches over his men, you'll always watch over him.

You were pregnant with your first child and he obviously didn’t want to leave you alone. You assured him you and the baby would be fine. You had friends and family that called and visited you regularly so technically you weren’t alone.

After two months of being away from each other, you finally made a visit to the set. You were amazed with everything from the props to everyone’s costumes. It wouldn’t take long for you to join the same hero universe, just with a different team.

Your bump was somewhat visible. Only your families and close friends knew. And now, of course, Hugh’s new cast mates knew. Halle and Famke were so happy to finally meet you and your bump.

Hugh held you close to him. When it came time to protect you and the baby, he was ready to fight whoever got too close. Eventually you made it to the car. After shutting the door, Hugh warned the paparazzi to not get any closer.

“Shut the fuck up!” Hugh pushed past the paparazzi and walked to the driver’s side of the car. If it were legal, he would’ve definitely run someone over. “You alright, love?”
