romance headcanons.

name: Frank Castle.

nickname: Frankie (he hates it, just saying), The Punisher.

gender: cis man.

romantic orientation: Pansexual.

preferred pet names: None, although he used to enjoy when Maria called him babe and sweetheart.

relationship status: Widower.

favorite canon / fandom ship: Maria is his one true love, he never actually stopped loving her; Kathryn O’Brien, he tried hard not to fall for her, but no success (a curious detail is that Kathryn used to date DC’s Tommy Monaghan, the Hitman); Matt Murdock, he cares so much for him he will risk his life for Matt. He might never tell Matt he actually has a feeling for him; Microchip, the first man he had a sexual relationship, and he genuinely cared for him until Micro decided to sell his services for money, coming from heroin; Other ships I like are: Frank/Elektra, Frank/Fury (though this is a very complicated ship), Frank/Steve Rogers, Frank/Jenny Cesare, and recently Frank/Valery.

favorite crossover ship: Frank/Dinah with @sonicanary ♥

opinion on true love: The only true love Frank has is for Maria. He might fall in love again, but never as intensely as he used to love Maria.

opinion on love at first sight: He’s demiromantic. He needs to trust someone before falling in love with them.

how ‘romantic’ are they?: Frank isn’t exactly romantic. Even with Maria, he had a hard time to express his feelings, but sure thing she was one of the few to see more of his romantic side.

ideal physical traits: He doesn’t care about physical traits as soon as he can trust someone.

ideal personality traits: He likes independent people like him, and people with a strong sense of morality. They don’t have to be like him -- a killer -- but they have to follow their own goals strictly, willpower is important for him. For instance, he falls for Murdock because he has a powerful moral code, even though their opinions diverge.

unattractive physical traits: None. As I said before, he doesn’t care about looks.

unattractive personality traits: Stating the obvious, villains and people who are morally wrong in his point of view; no willpower; cowards.

ideal date: Anywhere quiet, where he can forget about his own objectives for once, and focus on his partner.

do they have a type?: Independent and strong people (mentally and physically), with sense of leadership.

average relationship length: Depends on how much he trusts someone. He spent years with Maria, then Micro (until they follow different paths). Usually, it doesn’t take much.

preferred non-sexual intimacy: He rarely allows himself to have these moments, but he truly enjoys cuddles, when his partner touches his hair, when they caress his head, he feels relaxed enough to sleep.

commitment level: He’s very committed when he’s in a relationship, though he tries his best not to be in one since his focus in life is kill his opponents.

opinion of public affection: He doesn’t do it because he doesn’t want any of his enemies targeting his loved ones.

past relationships?: Lauren Buvoli wasn’t actually a girlfriend, but she was Frank’s first love. Maria Castle is his one true love, the one he married and had two children. He used to think Maria and the kids were his way out of his dark thoughts of killing, and it was working until they were killed -- thus the Punisher was born.
