NPC Sunday. NPCunday? (Any day can be NPC Sunday when you really put your mind to it)

Today I will be turning my beloved Aresyl Kallig into an NPC

((imagining the expansions haven't happened and Aresyl is on the Dark Council))

--What kind of NPC would your character be? Where could you find them?

I can see Aresyl being either the mentor figure or character you have to go to for help. I mean, she has girl bossing to do, she's not going to be the NPC to idly stand around or follow the MC around. You could find Aresyl on Dromund Kaas in her office or on Nar Shaddaa with her cult, but you have to catch her at the right time!

--Merchant - what would they sell?

Artifacts, antiques, and information. To be honest Aresyl gives away more money than she asks for (she has more credits than she would ever want), but she could give you some exclusive items in exchange for your service.

--Quest Giver - what's the quest? One off or chain? The reward?

Remember the cult the Sith Inquisitor acquires during the class story? Aresyl used the cult at first as a kind of side hustle- she'd have the members make credits from the underworld/black market for a cut of the pay. Later, once the cult grew, she used it as more of a charity. She'd use the profits to fund rescue missions for escaping slaves and help them reach stability. Eventually, a large chunk of the "cult" (she kept the title as not to raise suspicion) was freed slaves given employment.

All that to say! If you're visiting Aresyl because of Nar Shaddaa connections, she would be a side quest giver, assigning you to help her operations. She'd give you a cut of any money you make, but the MC would be most interested in the exclusive items she'd give in exchange.

--Companion - How do you unlock them? Do they have a specific companion quest line?

Honestly, I can't imagine Aresyl being anything more than a temporary companion like Darth Marr. An essential part of her arc is being a leader, so I just don't think she'd join a random crew unless the situation really demanded it.

--Rrrrrrromanceable? 😘😍💘💌⚘️🥀 What's the reward?

No way, haha! Before she was officially with Theron, Aresyl was a big flirt, but unfortunately that's only because she also has a habit of messing with people. If you tried to flirt with her, she'd either scoff you off, laugh in your face, or subtly make fun of you by flirting back. Aresyl might lead the MC on if they don't recognize her sarcasm, but there's no way she'd ever actually commit to anything.

Gale reaches towards him now, mirroring Dhamari’s earlier gesture and gently cupping the drow’s face in his hand. Dhamari lists unconsciously into the touch. His eyes nearly fall closed for an instant - and then he rouses himself again with an instinctive jolt.

He’s startled by how comfortable, how easy it is, to simply relax into the wizard’s palm. To let his natural guard fall away, and allow Gale to slip past the boundaries he’s kept around him for so very long - an existence warded by lightning, and edged with steel. And it is… unnerving.

“Daddy?”

Tyr groans faintly before he does his best to blink the sleep from his eyes, drawn awake by the gentle prod on his arm and the quiet voice of one of their daughters - Sunasa, he knows before he even opens his eyes.

“Are you awake?”

Tyr sniffs and pushes up against one arm. “Yea, sweetheart. Daddy’s awake,” he murmurs. He briefly glances over his shoulder. Hyroh’s still contentedly asleep. Concern gently tempers the half-smile that slips across his lips as he reaches out and gently ruffles their daughter’s hair. She ducks closer under his touch almost instantly. “What’s a matter, sunshine?”

Sunasa shyly ducks her head, hands coming to wring together. “I… can’t sleep.”

Tyr hums gentle acknowledgement and scoots back in the slim space left between him and Hyroh to pat the bed, offering her a place beside him before she shakes her head. For the moment, he settles back against his arm. “Alright,” he murmurs, “How can I help?”

Sunasa’s face scrunches briefly in consideration before she tugs on his hand. Her eyes don’t quite make it to the door, but Tyr doesn’t question her further. He carefully extricates himself from the sheets. Hyroh sighs and shifts behind him, but, blessedly, he manages to make a clean getaway and Sunasa starts to lead him out of their bedroom.

He gives a gentle tug on her hand to stop her when they’re in the hall and kneels down. “Hey, what’s wrong?” he asks gently. She ducks her head, but Tyr brushes her hair back out of her face carefully. “D’you wanna talk?” he offers, rubbing careful circles against her shoulder.

Both of them had quickly developed some energy to grow up all too fast right before his eyes. Bastia told him that was, unfortunately, normal.

favorite oc - Amarra Kine

I have fallen so hard for my girl Amarra. She is a force for political change yet has no vision for the future. She is one of the most powerful individuals in the empire yet has no ambition for personal power. She loves her family more than anything and yet she is completely alone in the empire. She is the deadliest warrior in the galaxy yet she wants peace for herself and her people. She is a mess of contradictions and I love her for it.

Lana is my OC Kelsa Kine's youngest child. Lana was named after Kelsa's mother Lana Beniko.

When I made the decision to give SWTOR another chance at the start of the pandemic, I made Ryscha. She began as a semi-self insert before I just started making my Kine Family of OCs and she became her own person. (I did have two previous SWTOR characters that I made in like 2012 but I never really developed them into actual characters)

meanest oc - Avaraxi Dagan

My mad scientist OC that will happily vivisect anyone if it gets them more usable data points. They did vivisect and ran numerous experiments on Kelsa Kine, even harvesting some of her eggs for later which is how Lana Kine and her siblings came to be.

Also diversity win! The mad scientist that's running unethical experiments on you is non-binary!

softest oc - Bryala Kine

All Bryala wants in life is to be a good person and not disappoint those closest to her. And if she can help others along the way then she'll happily do so.

most aloof/standoffish oc - Keras'eren'naru

She is a Chiss that believes in Chiss supremacy. Everyone else is beneath her and her people.

dumbest (affectionate) oc - Inara Almari

She spent her early young adult life raiding dangerous tombs and ruins on the off chance that there might be ancient knowledge she can study. She will also forget about lab safety procedures if she gets too carried away while running experiments. Because she focuses so much on her work she was captured by Zakuulan forces on three separate occasions and all three times resulted in her being rescued by Ryscha Kine who eventually took her on as an apprentice. Inara might have also accidentally infected Ryscha with the rakghoul plague while developing a vaccine. Whoops sorry Master!

smartest oc - Serra Kine

I mean she helped develop the refined Children of the Emperor procedures for Vitiate. Was trusted to develop a Children of the Emperor 2.0 generation using children actually sired by the Voice of the Emperor. While doing all this successful force experimentation, she also planed out a coup against Vitiate (which while unsuccessful in her life was more or less carried out by her daughters Amarra and Ryscha). She also discovered Nathema on her own and managed to negotiate an alliance with the spirits of Marka Ragnos, Naga Sadow, Tulak Hord and Exar Kun on Yavin IV to help her take down Vitiate.

horniest oc - Élise Kine and Braken Rist

This married couple enjoy dominating the other nobles of Alderaan in their spare time and will also happily engage in the whole sleep with a target before killing them assassination special. They usually go at it again with each other after said assassinations too.

Damar is kinky, caring and enjoys making his partners quiver. Also those sith ridges are always mmmm

oc you'd be best friends with irl - Inara Almari

I love folks that have special interests and hyper-fixations. Listening to them info dump passionately is always great and I enjoy learning new things that way. Inara fits that bill. She is also the right type of dumb ass that I would probably laugh a lot with her

My most recent 3 are 'Stars Wars the ultimate cookbook', the Final Fantasy 14 cookbook, and lastly the critical role cookbook

I can't really sit through movies anymore as i get bored extremely fast and need something to do at the same time. The last thing I watch and actually still am watching is Classic Time Team!

My aunts homemade mac and cheese but i'm too lazy to make it. After she passed away years ago i was left to decipher her secrets and am the only one in the family who can make it exactly like her :D

He palmed despondently at his sleep-starved eyes beneath the blankets. He desperately needed rest, but rest wasn’t coming. It was impossible to fall asleep when his body was wound this tightly and refused to stop trembling. So after lying there for another minute or two he reluctantly peeled back the blankets, sat up, and scooted to the edge of the bed.

The floor, at least, was temperate beneath the soles of his bare feet as he padded across the room to retrieve his robe. He shrugged it on and wrapped its folds around his shivering form, and then for good measure he pulled the topmost blanket from the bed and draped it around his shoulders as well; and thus cocooned, he wearily plodded from his cabin in search of something hot to drink.

Six Sentence Sunday

I’m a bit late, but here goes.

This is from chapter 126 of Legend of Lightning, right before Vajra confronts the Emperor on Dromund Kaas

“It is so remarkable, that despite being powerful enough to crush the conspiracy by himself, he instead abandoned this seat in favor of one even more remote. It was not until he took that orbital fortress that he felt truly safe. He is afraid, Vajra. Afraid of death. So afraid, he’s convinced himself he’s its better. That by bringing death to enough people, he somehow grows too big for it himself. Even if he does complete his meaningless ritual, he is always doomed to failure someday.”

Which of your OCs are you picturing wearing those Hobeika gowns? 👀👀👀

Thanks for the ask! I like getting the chance to ramble about some of my girls, and I was very 👀 at those gowns too so...in order of dress number:

Dress 1

The whole reason the post got bagged and tagged as it were is because the first dress was good for Trick. Her primary go to for formal wear now is either black/gold or white/gold ever since I got that formal Alderaan commission that's still floating around...oops. And when something doesn't quite fit the Jedi aesthetic, I can toss it to her Inquisitor AU self, pictured above, and it works just as well. This one in particular works for either though.

Dress 2, Dress 3, Dress 9

All of them go to my latest BH Ember (Tali), who is technically a Sith noble "on the run"...but is clearly not sacrificing style while she's hiding away from her family (especially that last dress, those colors would look great on her). And she'll look a lot better in these than Skadge, who I am offering her as a general replacement for, and who she definitely replaces on my canon BH's crew when he shoots Skadge dead on Belsavis like the game should've let me do originally.

Dress 6

Raz, my sometimes canon Inquisitor and otherwise just really good Sith assassin, can dress it up on the rare occasion she is called to do so. She actually likes the flashy nature of Sith fashion, in part because she knows she has a back and arms for days to show off in deep V necks and/or low-cut backs. However, gotta get to the point where she's not constantly, fully decked out in armor to hide the fact she's a Cathar amongst the ranks. 99.9% of the time she's striking from the shadows like this, and the only reason she has other outfits in game is because I like seeing her face.
