Dragon Age: The Veilguard
ā¶ Extracted Asset Drive Folder
Recently finished my first DAV playthrough and wanted to get my hands into the files š¤ so just like I did with CP77, I put up little google drive folder with extracted assets! Made possible thanks to the Frostbite Modding Tool ā
OBVIOUS Spoiler warning - I don't recommend looking at the files until you're done with the game's main story!
I wasn't able to grab everything just yet as the majority of assets aren't fully accessible yet (corrupted/missing data). Expect some extracted assets to have some artifacts as well!
But you can already find:
HUD elements
Codex entries's full art
CC, Map, Journal Icons
...and more!
Every elements has been sorted in folders for an (hopefully) easy browsing - I'll try to keep this drive updated :3
ā¶ THIS IS FOR PERSONAL USE ONLY!
You can use the assets for your videos, thumbnails, character templates, art, mods... but do NOT use these assets for any commercial purposes! Every assets and files are the property of Bioware and their artists
This is from a fan for fans, let's keep it fair and fun! š
If you appreciate my work consider supporting me on Ko-Fi š

hi! sorry to bother you and i donāt know if this is something you care about with regards to your import modding, but i noticed a potential misfire when going through Act 3 of DA2? world state is fem!Warden + exiled Alistair who properly makes an appearance in Act 1 and Act 2. but then during Avelineās Questioning Belief in Act 3 when she does the whole ādo you know iāve been dead for 7 years?ā She then says: āThe KING has offered to reinstate the commission of any surviving officers.ā even though there is no king. andā¦ i donāt think i ever heard her say anything else in that line ever? idk if there is no other voice line or what the hell bioware broke this time. apologies if you are aware and have talked about this before. it just caught my attention and i thought iād pass this along since you do this sort of mod fixes. thank you for all your modding! š
You aren't bothering me in the slightest! So, every single conversation in which Aveline talks about the current ruler of Ferelden is profoundly broken. The thing is, this line you've mentioned, isn't in my notes. Which I'm like 99% sure means there isn't an alternate line, or I probably would have caught it. Like I'll double check, but I just rerouted that exact conversation literally yesterday (so Aveline would stop being snide about Anora letting Alistair sleep around on her when Anora literally isn't even queen), and that would match the vibe. That's the explanation that feels on brand to me.

meredith is one of the best villains in bioware imo and boy does she come to life under your care. i love seeing what you've created with her over the past ten years: your portrayal of her sexuality, the potential for her redemption/atonement, your ship with amelia. it's all A+. you've been on my dash in some capacity since uh. idk! sometime after me3, so over 10 years. we're both 30+ now ksjdf. and i've appreciated so much of the time and thought you've put into not just your writing, but your studies. (also excited to see more of your dwarf rook xoxo)
@theharellan is putting me right back in my feelings šš„ŗ
Tas!! Hello! This is so sweet, thank you. I truly cannot believe it will be 10 years this coming May with Meredith (and a big fat 12 years in January for my tumblr rp participation as a whole), and I'm so happy to know y'all have not only cared but seen how my writing has changed and grown with me.
(and I am excited to see how she develops too!)
Thank you again !!!

some thoughts on the game so far. mild spoilers up to mid-act 1
I'm enjoying it a lot overall. It's definitely a departure from previous games, and that has pros and cons, but I'm open to change and coming at the story from a different angle brings some new perspectives that are fun to explore.
I like some of the quality of life changes. Being able to upgrade weapons is very fun, and tones down the "15 legendary swords I'm just going to sell when I find something better" without locking you in to one single weapon, and still making discovering new ones fun. I'm not sure how I feel about the sphere grid level up but I do like that you can make some stat changes rather than just gather abilities. I like the UI in general. And changing armor appearance separate from changing the armor itself? Love that.
Also thank you BioWare for picking up interrupted banters š
I do feel like they've kinda left behind some of the worldbuilding/flavor in a way I find somewhat disappointing. Things that could be greatly enhanced with simple ambient dialogue. I really was looking forward to seeing another part of Thedas post-breach and post-inquisition, since we know that impacted everywhere. And it just mostly feels untouched on. Or how things have changed with the rebellion of the Circles. Obviously that wouldn't impact Tevinter, but Antiva? Or elsewhere?
I feel like there's been very little reaction to things like using eluvians to travel, too, or maybe more Dalish disbelief that the gods are back and evil? Absolutely no mention of the Chantry so far, or really much insight into how elven gods might impact Andrastian beliefs? I dunno, not trying to nitpick too hard, but you can feel a loss of cohesion to the worldbuilding things that were staples to past games. And I understand we're in different lands, but these are still consistent themes.
Anyway, the story is still fun, I'm loving the companions, and chugging down the history reveals. Looking forward to more as we go.

Ooh an ask game! Then, I want to know #1 and #7, we'll throw in #20 so we get a pretty gif, also #2 is a pair so we can't leave that out. And finally, am curious on #17 and #6 to really get expansive words. ^^ Tell us all the juicy pretty Dragon Age things you're rolling about~
thank you so much for asking me these š„ŗ
1. What was the first dragon age game you played?
i got origins for my ps3 way back in high school. the first time i played it i remember i started as a mage and spammed walking bomb and spent twenty minutes on the first darkspawn boss because he killed everyone and it was just me running in circles occasionally casting a spell on him. very reminiscent of the Arishok fightš« š« i tried very hard to romance Morrigan but i kept making her hate me insteadš so i went with leliana, HOWEVER my weird eventually friends thing with morrigan inspired the ot3 ship that still haunts me to this day (warden/morrigan/leliana is š„°šš³ā¤ļøš„¹)
2. Which dragon age game is your favourite so far?
thatās an incredibly difficult question. i think overall in terms of how it made me feel and how much i like the gameplay loop and the environments itās definitely Inquisition š„ŗ a fic of that game kept me alive for a few really really shaky weeks a few years ago (i told myself sternly that i could only read a chapter a night, so i had to get through all the nights until the end of this 550k fic, and then the ending was the epitome of hopepunk and it made me sort of forget about being shaky). so yeah, definitely Inquisition. but i adore all the gamesš. i had a lot of fun with da2 but it isnāt as good for my brain to replay over and over (<- guy who actually loves 100%ing the Hinterlands in every playthrough)
6. Do you have your Rook(s) planned out to any degree? If so, would you share some details or ideas you have?
Ćtās really hard for me to rotate things in abstract like that. i know thereās lots of information but i donāt want to read it or know it before i play the game. i will most likely play as a mage? unless they make that unpleasant somehow š„ŗ (i hope not) but beyond that i canāt make myself interested in planning out a character who doesnāt live anywhere (yet). itās the same with my own fiction writing. i have to understand the world a little before i can create any characters of any substance. iām really excited to do my first playthrough though! i know that whoever my Rook is, they will love the griffin baby š„°
7. Which character from the previous games or other media are you most hoping will make an appearance in DAV?
it would be extremely good to see Fenris again, or Merrill. i donāt really trust Bioware with Anders, so i hope he stays with whatever peace he found after kirkwall. i liked seeing morrigan and leliana again so some da2 characters would be neat! oh!!!! isabela would make sense in this because ship captain š³ i would love to see her again š„ŗ
17. Are you interested in all the lore and speculation or do you focus more on the games and stories themselves?
oh i LOVE the dragon age lore. i recently got the dragon age TTRPG core book mostly because it has so much lore in it š³ i find dragon age lore especially compelling, particularly the grey wardens and the blight and how magic and the veil works. my favourite fics are always the lore heavy ones that engage with the themes dragon age tries (and sometimes manages) to engage with.
the speculation is also fun because dragon age fans adore pain and misery and usually conjure up the worst possible way things could go. and thatās great š„°
20. Post a picture or gif that conveys your current level of excitement for Dragon Age: The Veilguard!
#thank youuuuš„° i get to talk about game from my blorbos. or something#and just to be safe#suicide mention tw

Hereās a little summary of all DA4 news we got in 2021, because I feel the need to kind of collect my thoughts at the end of the year. But please feel free to add anything I might have forgotten, even though the year didn't seem to have much to offer in terms of official new info, there still were a few crumbs here and there and some big unofficial stuff. :D
- Apparently, DA4 is purely Singleplayer now
(THE BULLET WE DODGED, thanks to the huge success of Jedi Fallen Order and the flop of Anthem, we'll honor your sacrifice. You died so DA4 Singleplayer could live. š)
No but in all honesty, as much as I feel for all devs involved who put so much work into Anthem.. I was honestly relieved to hear they'd let it go completely in order to fully focus on DA4 and here's hoping that they learned from their mistakes in the Andromeda/Anthem development mess and don't have DA4 "suffer" because of the next Mass Effect (or the other way around, like pulling devs from one project to help on another.)
- 5 new concept art pieces + 2 new illustrations along with 2 new short stories on DA Day
You know, as much as I love these little nuggets of art and stuff, at some point of this year, I was like "Can't they just release DA4 as a picture book already with the amount of concept art they've put out now?" š
Though there seems to be a certain pattern in the concepts they reveiled, with each of them matching perfectly with the shots in the teaser on last year's VGAs, so maybe a hint and something to speculate about!
Additionally, one of the short stories does hint at a potential eight year timeskip since the events of Trespasser, which is a huge deal. What could it mean for the Inquisitor and their efforts? The Qunari invasion? The one who was left in the Fade in Here Lies the Abyss? The Warden if theyāre alive? Solasā plan? Iām not that surprised actually, given how he already hinted at āa few more years of relative peaceā in Trespasser, until the Veil comes down. Almost ten years between the events in the game and the release of DA4 in real life would allow the devs to establish a new world state for old as well as new players to the series.
- Lots of new people hired, especially in the animation department!
This might be a good reminder for some that BioWare, despite creating Triple A titles, is.. actually not that big of a studio. š
At least not in comparison to other Triple A developers like Ubisoft for example. I feel like people tend to forget about that when setting the bar for expectations and how much budget and resources are involved. I don't know much about game development, but from what I understand, in the grand scheme of the EA catalog, BioWare is like that weird little nerdy child that they adopted in 2007, when EA's interest seemed to be anything BUT singleplayer story focused RPG games. š So please guys, keep in mind that there might be only a handful of people on some of these teams right now.
- Long time veterans Matthew Goldman and Caroline Livingstone leaving BW
On that front, not to sound dramatic but.. does the DA4 team have a Creative Director right now? *nervous laughter*
There still hasn't been any official statement from neither BW or Matthew Goldman and the nature of his departure was strange, to say the least.. Like, if it hadn't been for this e-mail leak, we wouldn't even know about it.. I mean, they don't owe us a statement or anything and departures happen all the time for all sorts of reasons and itās none of our business, but I feel like for such an important position on the team to just be gone like that after 20+ years at BW without any kind of farewell, when it wasn't even a transitional thing like with Darrah and Hudson and he always seemed so enthusiastic about DA and his work and engaged a lot with the fans on Twitter until very recently before his departure... Idk, it just doesn't feel good. :/
Caroline Livingstone, former Performance Director/VA Producer, will be working with Casey Hudson's new studio now. She was always highly praised by the VAs and the devs and always seemed to get out the best of any VAs performance, so itās a bit sad to see her go! We don't really know how much she was even involved in DA4's development.. How much of the voice acting is done at this point? š
- Christian Dailey took fully over from Mark Darrah as DA4 Executive Producer
āEmployee Nr. 35ā³ officially left BW as well in February of this year and I will miss his frustratingly vague and teasing DA4 tweets. He was literally there from the beginning. On the other hand, we now get to hear his side of game development in a really informative way on his own YouTube channel!
- A very insightful presentation on the challenges of production during the pandemic by Scylla Costa, DA4 Lead Producer at BIG Festival 2021
Here we got a little glimpse of some MoCap/Pcap sessions, as well as what I assume has to be the writerās room? š Itās a really interesting presentation and itās kind of crazy how BioWare basically went into work from home the day after they had gathered the whole team to review DA4ā²s story and how they never really had the chance to settle in the new Epcor Tower place.
- In a shocking revelation, the Veil is a thong
I think watching the Gamers for Groceries stream was definitely the most I laughed throughout the whole year. Thank you, Patrick, Iām still in tears.
- DA4 might be released in 2023
If this is true, we could expect them to kick off the marketing in earnest next year! And given their blog message on DA Day, I think we can definitely look forward to finally get some substantial stuff in 2022! :D
- Elven bum for DA4 confirmed
We may not even have a title for this game, but rest assured, there will be booty.
#and thus onto 2022!#what an uneventful year for DA fans š#maybe it's the calm before the storm š#I'm excited!#dragon age 4#da4

praying that you both will be working on a Dragon Age comic in the future! š love your work.

John: "one of the funnier quirks of game dev is you will never remember missions by their real names but instead by the name you called them by for several years of development it will never be 'In Your Heart Shall Burn' for me, it'll always be Setback" [source] / Blair: "there was that awkward period where half of the DA:V ones had "gods" in the title, so discussions were always some variant of: "Did you mean 'Gods Are Back' or 'Gods Are Bad'? I've heard people mention 'Egads! Gods!' but I'm not sure if that's new or a rework."" [source] / Malcolm (in reply to John): "I have one like this in DA:Ve and I can't share it yet because spoilers but I promise you it's delightful" [source]
John: "the only one i can ever remember is 'Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts' and it's because it seems to be the only DAI mission that people constantly reference by name online" [source] / Mary: "It's proper name is "Ham Ball." I put that in the file names, even." [source]
John: "idk how widely itās been advertised but a reminder we are doing another Veilguard Q&A on Discord this Friday noon Mountain time (so 11 Pacific)" [source] / Malcolm: "Make sure you don't tell them about that one thing that happens in that place, with the guy." [source]
Trick: "BioWare released a new screenshot of Taash! I love how it captures the amazing detail work the character artists did." [source]
Image description on the Taash screenshot in Trick's post of the cap:
"A screenshot of Taash looking off to the side. The lighting is warm like either late afternoon or an interior with a fireplace, and it catches in the gold on Taash's armor and horns. Taash looks pensive or vulnerable -- not the deadpan stare or badass determination we've seen in other shots."
pensive or vulnerable.. ohh Taash. š„ŗ Trick!!
User on the screenshot: "Taash looks *completely the fuck over this shit* in a totally exhausted sort of way, here. which is, mind, amazing detail work on the character artists' party!!" / Trick: "You know, it's a spectrum." [source]
Trick on DA:I - "Miss May is amazing in many ways, and especially in finding the balance of sweetness to pain for the Solas scenes. ā¤ļø" [source] ((thankyouuu Miss May!!))
