My thoughts while watching Deadpool & Wolverine
I made this review just for my entertainment and cuz I really couldn't control my excitement lol. Just a quick warning to please not take anything I say seriously :') (also i already wrote this review on letterboxd 3 days ago)
The intro alone deserves an Oscar.
THEY COVERED PETER PARKER'S FACE I AM SOBBING. DOES WADE KNOW WHO HE IS? With the 4th wall breaking power and whatnot.
The costume fitting scene with the butt slaps, slaps. Call me immature idc.
"Get your special socks on, nerds." Deadpool was adressing me on this one guys 🤣🙏🏻🙏🏻 my little geek brain was exploding with every little reference.
Cassandra Nova, JUST ONE CHANCE PLEASE I AM ON MY KNEES 🧎🏻
Casual by Chappell Roan was playing in my head when DP & W were fighting in that Honda. That was a tad bit too romantic bye.
Nicepool, I am mourning for you 24/7. You deserved so much better. Thank you for that wonderful The Proposal line. You have made my life complete.
Interesting cameos: it took me a minute to identify the Henry Cavill one. Chris Evans, what a treat! JENNIFER GARNER, MY WIFE!
A traumatized Wolverine and Deadpool vs. a hundred other Deadpools fight sequence lifted my soul. I legitimately thought I was floating away. I didn't blink. Not once.
Hugh Jackman: shirtless. My jaw=dropped (no cuz seriously). I understand the hype now. And don't ask me if I was salivating, anybody who claims to have seen me do such a horrendous act is a lying liar who lies 😐
I smelled a Deadpool hyperfixation incoming the moment i said "he's literally me". Wade Wilson is pookie.
Bad ass holy shit. Other than those Cherik edits I keep on seeing, Deadpool & Wolverine is the only reason I am finally convinced to watch x-men. Also I now wholeheartedly support the Xmen>Avengers agenda. In terms of power, at least.
Unrelated but why was Bucky not here? I miss him. And furthermore, WHERE was my beloved God of Mischief/Time/Stories!?? TVA plot kinda confused me, because isn't Loki the one whos supposed to hold all the timeline branches?
Compared to DP1&2, this was definitely toned down.
"We'll use the power of (homoerotic) friendship!" Ahh ending 😭. I can't even be mad though cuz they played it out so well. My only complaint for this movie is this: why didn't they kiss? Not even just a small smooch? But it's alright; God gave us ao3 for a reason.
I am very glad to have watched with people who aren't passive. Everyone in the audience were laughing. The whole experience was a great vibe.
The post-credit montage with Good Riddance playing in the background had me tearing up (i was biting my hand trying to stop myself from sobbing).
All in all, yes.
Ps: I've been awaiting this movie the second it was announced to be produced. Also I've never avoided show spoilers before since I suffer from chronic FOMO and anxiety when it comes to media that I like. Even though I only had to avoid spoilers for a few days here and on letterboxd, I was already experiencing withdrawal because I felt like clawing my eyes out whenever I try to stop myself from opening reviews. EITHERWAY, it was worth it 😊
PPS: Much like Ryan Reynolds was born to play Deadpool, Hugh Jackman was born to play Wolverine.

The last time I watched a Marvel movie in the cinema where everyone went crazy, screaming, cheering, laughing and shouting was Endgame. Had that experience again watching Deadpool and Wolverine over the weekend. Feels great. No spoilers. GO WATCH IT.
Ryan Reynolds understood his assignment and knows the meaning of "entertainment" and what fans want. It's been so long since I felt excited watching a Marvel movie and had a good laugh. Needed that. Thank you, Wade Wilson!

WandaVision: What Big Marvel Cameos Could Happen?
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
This article contains spoilers for WandaVision and the broader MCU.
During a recent interview, WandaVision star Elizabeth Olsen teased that we’re about to see a Mandalorian-level cameo happen in the Marvel series. Without fully spoiling the cameo she was referencing, it was a fan favorite from the Star Wars franchise who emerged in Mando’s Season 2 finale.
WandaVision featuring some notable guest stars hasn’t been a massive secret up until now, and a report that arrived way, way ahead of the premiere suggested that Evan Peters was about to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though it wasn’t known if the actor would play the X-Men version of Pietro Maximoff/Quicksilver or not in the Disney+ show.
Olsen’s WandaVision co-star Paul Bettany built yet more hype around one particular addition to the series – possibly someone different to who Olsen was thinking of – and it didn’t really seem like he was talking about Peters.
“I work with this actor that I’ve always wanted to work with and we have fireworks together, the scenes are great and I think people are going to be really excited,” Bettany told the Lights Camera Barstool podcast. “I’ve always wanted to work with this guy and the scenes are pretty intense.”
Bettany also acknowledged some surprises from WandaVision had already leaked, but that the series was building up to a massive finale. “There were more special effects requirements for our TV show than there were for Endgame.”
WandaVision creator Jac Schaeffer wasn’t keen to reveal who either Bettany or Olsen were referring to, but confirmed to TVLine that “there are so many surprises left in store” and that fans should settle in “because there’s more coming.”
Let’s have a look at some big potential cameos that could happen in WandaVision’s second half. Judging by Bettany and Olsen’s comments, they could be brand-new to the MCU or returning stars.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver
Though Evan Peters’ inclusion in WandaVision is practically a dead cert at this stage, the opportunity to bring Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s MCU version of Pietro Maximoff back for a cameo in the series could result in a much deeper connection to Wanda herself. The seeds of a potential Pietro return were sown in episode 3 of the Marvel spinoff series when Monica Rambeau – posing as ‘Geraldine’ – accidentally jolted Wanda out of her sitcom daze and back to reality by mentioning that her twin brother had previously been killed by Tony Stark’s villainous murder-bot, Ultron.
Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange
We’ve been told that the events of WandaVision and Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness are directly connected, so the most reasonable assumption when it comes to a big upcoming cameo is that Stephen Strange will arrive at some point to tackle the mystical wildness going on in Westview.
But since there’s been chatter about Cumberbatch appearing in the show for some time, Strange being part of the proceedings wouldn’t be either a massive surprise or a particularly thrilling reveal at the end of the day, would it?
Hugh Jackman as Wolverine
Logan was confirmed to be Hugh Jackman’s swansong as his iconic X-Men character, but how hard would Marvel Studios have to push to get him back in action as Wolverine in the MCU? Kevin Feige hasn’t really shown any signs of tackling the X-Men again just yet, nor in fact mutants in general as part of the MCU’s reality, so Jackman reprising his role here would be firmly placed in the “unlikely” column.
Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool
Could Ryan Reynolds make a tongue-in-cheek cameo as Deadpool? It does seem like a longshot. The meta setup of WandaVision is arguably the perfect place for Wade Wilson’s antihero to pop up and deliver a few fourth wall-breaking lines to camera, but the chances of Deadpool appearing so far in advance of his own MCU sequel feel fairly slim. Still, we’d love to see the Merc with a Mouth take stock of these strange sitcom scenes – where would he even start?
Michael Fassbender/ Ian McKellen as Magneto
For quite a while in Marvel Comics, Wanda Maximoff was thought to be the daughter of on-off X-Men villain Magneto, played by both Michael Fassbender and Sir Ian McKellen in Fox’s movie franchise. Wanda’s backstory has since been retconned, but there’s a sly joke about Evan Peters’ Pietro Maximoff being Erik’s son in the X-Men films. Could they re(re)retcon Scarlet Witch’s origins to bring back Magneto in WandaVision?
Er, we can likely put this on the Probably Not pile.
Mads Mikkelsen as Kaecilius
Kaecilius bid the world an unhappy farewell during the climax of Scott Derrickson’s Doctor Strange solo movie. The former Master of the Mystic Arts accidentally got his wish granted to live out the rest of eternity as part of Dormammu’s non-stop torment party in the Dark Dimension thanks to Doctor Strange’s time loop shenanigans, but fans of the actor who played the villain – Mads Mikkelsen – thought that dispatching him so early on in Strange’s evolution was a bit of a mistake. After all, why have just one injection of beloved Hannibal star Mikkelsen on screen when you can have, well, a lot more than one?
So, could Wanda messing with reality give Kaecilius an opportunity to escape Dormammu’s clutches and finally have his revenge? Hmm.
Patrick Stewart/James McAvoy as Charles Xavier
Much like Magneto, Charles Xavier has ties to Scarlet Witch in the comics, and if Wanda breaks down the walls between realities too far, we could start to see them bleed into each other, paving the way for an X-Men introduction in WandaVision. It’d be delightful to see either of these Professor X actors make a cameo during the show’s final episodes, but much like Magneto it could be quite far-fetched.
Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man
Robert Downey Jr appeared confident that he was completely done playing Iron Man in the MCU when Phase 3 wrapped up in 2019, but there could surely be no bigger surprise cameo in Disney+’s first Marvel spinoff series than an unlikely return by Tony Stark.
The question is, how could Iron Man possibly come back in WandaVision after he sacrificed his life at the end of Avengers: Endgame, and would it conceivably lead to more appearances by Downer Jr down the road?
Speaking of further appearances from someone we thought had left the MCU for good…
Chris Evans as Captain America
Deadline had some surprising news back in January when it published an exclusive report that claimed Chris Evans was in talks to reprise his role as Captain America in the MCU. It was teased that Steve Rogers could return in various future Marvel movies and shows as a sort of mentor for some of the other characters going forward.
It’s arguably way too early for Evans to show his face in WandaVision, and since Olsen and Bettany indicate that their show’s big cameos have yet to leak, Evans being “the one” should be put on the furthest backburner for now.
Keanu Reeves as Take Your Pick
We don’t yet know if WandaVision’s huge cameo will be from an already-established MCU character, though reports likening it to that of The Mandalorian’s season finale showstopper certainly indicate that it could be. This could all be a little sprinkle of distraction from Olsen and co., however, and a way to keep our minds off the introduction of a new villain who will connect the series to Doctor Strange 2.
Mephisto, Grim Reaper and Nightmare could all be nefarious additions to the MCU in Phase 4, and who better to play one of them than everyone’s favorite puppy avenger, Keanu Reeves? Reeves was close to joining the MCU in 2019’s Captain Marvel as Yon-Rogg before Jude Law landed the part. Has the in-demand actor continued to hold out for a meatier villain role?
Tom Cruise as Iron Man
Rumors that Tom Cruise has been desperate to join the MCU have been circulating for what seems like aeons. We doubt the man’s hurting for cash, but he did have designs on the Iron Man role before Downey Jr laid his claim, and there were definitely whisperings around the time of production on WandaVision that Marvel was trying to tempt Cruise aboard as an alternate reality version of Tony Stark for an appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Since WandaVision sets up the events of the now-filming sequel, could it be Cruise’s brief appearance that Olsen and Bettany are excited about us seeing? Bettany did describe filming with the actor in question as “intense” and that certainly lines up with the experiences other people working with Cruise have had to date.
Have you thought of any other potential suspects who aren’t listed here? Let us know in the comments.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine(2009)
So, when I was doing my pre-movie warm up post to It That Shall Not Be Named, I said that I couldn’t remember which X-men movie I had watched the least. Now that I’m looking back, it’s definitely this one. It’s one of the only X-men movies I’ve never owned. And I tried. Most of these movie viewings are courtesy of a X-Men and the Wolverine Blu-Ray collection that I picked up at a local record shop. This is movie is supposed to be in it. It isn’t, whoever owned it previously replaced it with a copy of Days of Future Past. Net gain obviously, but X-Men Origins is an unloved movie. According to Rotten Tomatoes, this was the lowest reviewed movie until Dark Phoenix, a ten-year gap. I’d be willing to wager money that more people have seen the Deadpool 2 credits scene than have seen this movie.
If I was to guess, and I am, this movie’s biggest flaw is a serious inability to read the room. three years ago, when Ratner took a dump on screen and charged people money to see it, X-Men was one of the only games in town. The Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movies were really the only competition. And after Spider-Man 3 sloughed off fans of the series like so many parasites in a flea bath, X-Men was posed to make a comeback. In case you weren’t there, Ratner’s Turd wasn’t well-received, but Spider-Man 3 was detested. No one tried to defend it. X-Men Origins was poised to bring the X-men back to the spotlight.
Then 2008 happened.
First was Iron Man. It didn’t take itself too seriously, but it wasn’t dumb either. There were cool Marvel easter eggs but it also stood on it’s own. And that post-credits scene was wild. Smauel L. Jackson as Nick Fury promising us the Avengers? I know this may be kinda crazy for some, but in 2008 Iron Man was not a household name and Robert Downey Jr was more known for tabloids than acting around this time.
Then just two months later, The Dark Knight hit. While Iron Man was light and breezy, The Dark Knight was A Serious Film. And it delivered. By god did it deliver, this movie was what everyone was talking about. No one will admit it now, but when Heath Ledger was cast as Joker people were apoplectic. They were predicting this movie was doomed, and they could not have been more wrong. He owns every single scene he is in. Jack Nicholson’s joker had been iconic for twenty years and he was forgotten in an instant. Do you want to know why DC’s movie universe has had such trouble getting off the ground? Because they’ve been trying to capture what this movie did ever since 2012. This movie was a goddamn EVENT, it was what every single person was talking about, myself included.
What I’m trying to illustrate is that in one year the entire idea of what we expected out of our superhero movies changed. Where X-Men and Spider-Man had shown us that these stories could be taken seriously, Iron Man and Dark Knight showed us that we could get whole universes and Oscar-level movies.
And if Origins has one fatal flaw, it did not read the room on that one.
Wolverine is probably at his most one-dimensional here. A gruff loner pining after one woman, a chip on his shoulder and a take no bullshit attitude. It’s like they read the wikipedia article on him and decided that was enough character research for the day. And his name is in the title, other characters come and go in this movie with almost no concern for them. I don’t remember Silverfox at all, Blob is basically a cameo, and I know the Deadpool spin-offs have harped on this point but let’s just say for the record that someone had no idea why this character was popular. I’ll probably come back to him when I cover the Deadpool flicks because, trashed though he is in this film, he ended up getting the last laugh and they hit the right mark casting Ryan Reynolds. Sometimes you’ve got to fail to succeed and that’s what you see here.
But a popular character that never got a second chance despite numerous attempts was Gambit. I’ll admit at the start, I’m a bit biased here, he’s one of my favorite characters. The Nineties cartoon was my introduction to these characters, and Gambit was the coolest as far as we were concerned. This cartoon was the start of my love of Beast, too, but I remember Gambit being our definition of cool. And to give credit where it’s due, I don’t think this movie does a terrible job with him. I still remember his introduction.
Wolverine: Are you Gambit?
Remy: Do I owe you money?
I mean, that’s his character nailed down pretty damn well. Roguish, charming, a little sleazy but good natured. Taylor Kitsch wasn’t bad in this role, what little of it there was. In fact, this movie has been part of my argument that he’s just a very unlucky actor. People had been clamoring for Gambit since the first X-Men movie, and he signs a three picture deal. He never plays the role again. John Carter was a big budget space epic with a good cast, and it is one of the biggest flops of all time. Unfairly in my opinion. Then he signs on to the second season of a hugely popular HBO show. Unfortunately, it was the second season of True Detective and it almost ended the series. I’m not saying the guy needs sympathy, he’s worked steadily and shows like Friday Night Lights and Waco have been well-received, but those are some pretty wild missteps.
Of course, Liev Schrieber made a pretty excellent Sabretooth, although his competition was a b-list wrestler who had a non-speaking role. Which is why I don’t entirely like it. Liev Schreier’s Sabretooth is a completely different character. There is literally nothing to suggest this is the same guy Wolverine fights on top of the Statue of Liberty. I’m aware it’s a strange complaint that the character is better and has more depth, but it stands out. Still, if there’s anything I remember that really disappoints me about this movie, it’s that there are some things it got right and have been relegated to the dustbin of cinema history.
Some other thoughts. I don’t remember that Black Eyed Peas singer being terrible, and I wanted to hate him because I absolutely hate his music. Cyclops was introduced because...I don’t know why. I couldn’t tell you. If I hadn’t looked at the cast list I wouldn’t have even remembered. There were two different post-credits scenes and I’m not sure we needed either one. One is fake-Deadpool’s arm crawling towards his head, and the other is Wolverine drinking at a bar, saying he’s drinking to remember. By 2009 post-credits scenes were growing in popularity pretty fast, thanks in no small part to Iron Man. But while Nick Fury’s scene hinted at better things to come, these two just felt like deleted scenes tacked on because it was becoming the new thing to do.
Also, something new, basic facts about how the movie did:
Budget:$150 million
First Weekend Gross: $85 million
Final Gross: $179 Million(USA), $373 million(Worldwide)
Notes will be up soon!

24 Marvel And DC Fan Castings Better Than What We Got
New Post has been published on https://headacheshelp.com/awesome/24-marvel-and-dc-fan-castings-better-than-what-we-got/
24 Marvel And DC Fan Castings Better Than What We Got
Fans have been putting together their dreaming casts for Comic Book movies for years now. Even before the internet, in the old Wizard magazine was a monthly column devoted to fan castings. Years subsequently, thanks to Photoshop, good artwork, and some wild imaginations, fans have been putting together their ideal casts for all kinds of superhero movies. If you’re savvy and imaginative enough, you can take your favorite actors and put them as your favorite superheroes. Every very often, the rest of the internet takes notice and follows suit, posting and reposting a fan’s casting creation and creating some of their own.
Unfortunately, Hollywood does tend to cast their own movies. Even though the fans might want some star, or another play a given role, Marvel and DC go with their own choices. Seldom have they been one and the same, although Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark is pitch-perfect, there wasn’t a lot of fan clamoring to watch RDJ in the role. As the MCU is closing out its Infinity Saga and now has Fantastic Four and X-Men back in the fold; they might need to cast and recast some classic characters. As for the DCEU, it is unfortunately in shambles, thanks to shoddy storytelling ideas, so they might need to recast some parts as well.
Maybe fans will get to see dream casts realized- here are 25 Marvel And DC Fans Casting Better Than What We Got.
24 Emma Stone As Poison Ivy
It’s been over 20 years since the comically bad Batman And Robin debuted in the theaters. The movie was so terrible that it succeeded in attaining the vivacious actress Uma Thurman completely ridiculous as Pamela Isley, aka the vivacious eco-criminal Poison Ivy.
Perhaps it’s time to try again with Ivy. Emma Stone is currently one of the young vibrant Hollywood starlets and DC is scrambling to recapture the magic of Christopher Nolan’s Batman cinemas. Maybe having Stone deliver a real-life take on what an eco-criminal looks like would be a good jumping start to the DCEU!
2 3 Donald Glover As Spider-Man
Nearly 20 years ago now, Marvel launched its Ultimate imprint. The brand was designed to tell some of the same old tired Marvel origin narratives in new and updates for the biggest characters. When Brian Bendis was done telling Peter Parker’s story, he generated a new Spider-Man, Miles Morales, in 2011. The character has garnered plenty of acclaim and fans have clamored for Donald Glover to play the kid since the beginning.
Maybe in a future MCU movie, we might ensure Miles come to the forefront, but seeing as how Glover is a little older now; and we’ve already seen him in Homecoming as Miles’ uncle, fan artwork are to be able to the only place to assure Glover as Spider-Man.
2 2 Jeffrey Dean Morgan As Batman
When Batman Vs. Superman: Sunrise Of Justice premiered, fans got a sneak peek at Thomas Wayne. Like all Bat-flicks do, fans need to be reminded of how and why Bruce becomes Batman. It might have seemed like a strange bit part for Jeffrey Dean Morgan to play, but there was supposedly more to the story.
Morgan was eventually going to play the Thomas Wayne version of Batman in the Flashpoint movie. Fans had already started dreaming up what Morgan might look like as the Batman. With Zack Snyder’s vision of the DCEU in limbo, these pics are all we’re going to get to the character.
2 1 Rosario Dawson As She-Hulk
Rosario Dawson has been a very popular actress since debuting in Kids in 1995. While she’s dabbled in a few comic book movies before and has been the connective tissue in the Marvel Netflix Universe, it’s about day she makes her own mark in MCU.
If the next Phase in the Marvel movies is all about the ladies, you have to include Jennifer Walters, the MCU’s answer to Wonder Woman- She Hulk! With Dawson playing Walters, you have an actress who could pull off both Walters sarcasm and posture as well as her compassion.
2 0 Willem Dafoe As The Joker
As the Green Goblin, Willem Dafoe more or less played a maniacal, cackling version of Norman Osborn. Osborn was supposed to be a cold and calculating tycoon. Dafoe built him sort of a lite version of DC’s Clown Prince Of Crime.
Dafoe as the Joker would make a lot of DC fans very happy. The performer was actually one of the several on a short list to play the Joker in Tim Burton’s bat-flick. Even when he’s trying to play a compassionate human, he always seems right on the edge. That kind of intensity would be tailor-made for the Joker.
1 9 Neil Patrick Harris As The Riddler
Christopher Nolan loves mind-bending films that, by the end of them, stimulate you question everything you’ve ever known about the previous two hours you just watched. For example, why does everyone think Dom’s totem is a top in Inception. Watch it again, it’s his wedding ring. The top was his wife’s.
But that love of messing with our minds actually could have extended to his phenomenal Dark Knight Trilogy had he cast Neil Patrick Harris and brought the Riddler into this series of cinemas. NPH could have not only erased the bad savor of Jim Carrey’s version but possibly created a menacing version of the character not ensure since The Animated Series.
1 8 Joseph Gordon-Levitt As Ant-Man
While Joseph Gordon-Levitt did say that Marvel eyeing him for the role of Scott Lang in Ant-Man as “nothing but lies, ” the casting rumor did create a slight fervor amongst fans of Levitt, who at that time had come off the heels of The Dark Knight Rises and Sin City: A Dame To[ End] For.
While Paul Rudd is charming and funny in everything that he does, his version of Scott Lang absence a little bit of gravitas that is needed for the occasional dramatic scenes in both Ant-Man and Ant-Man And The Wasp that Levitt would be able to crush.
1 7 Christina Ricci As Harley Quinn
Lindsay Graham and Mary Vernieu, the casting directors of Suicide Squad are clearly blind as bats. Sure, Margot Robbie was decent as Harley Quinn, but Christina Ricci would have been able to take the iconic role to the iconic heights that it deserved.
The woman IS Harley! She’s usually depicted as a goth girl or a gremlin, she generally plays crazy and/ or deranged characters, she’s five-foot-nothing and can still intimidate most people she comes into contact with. DC and Warner Brother, can we make this happen?
1 6 Vin Diesel As Black Bolt
Throughout the ten years of Marvel movies that we have gotten, there have been very rare misses. But a complete and total black mark on the entire MCU would be the decision to even attempt to bringing The Inhumans was clearly a mistake. The feature film never got off the ground, so ABC had it as a mini-series that looked like a lot of people in cosplay.
Even the original guy who Marvel was supposedly trying to casting as Black Bolt knew that it wasn’t running work. Vin Diesel might play meathead Dom, but he’s no buffoon in real life. While he did teasing that he’d be playing the enigmatic ruler of the Inhumans, he backed out before any career injury could be done.
1 5 Idris Elba As Green Lantern
Ryan Reynolds is astounding as Deadpool, the role he was born to play. But before he could play the Merc’ With A Mouth, he tried his hand at playing the Green Lantern in the 2011 movie. This movie, directed by Bond veteran, Martin Campbell, was supposed to be the launch of the DCEU. But thanks to a whole heap of behind the scenes headaches and sub-par performances and impacts, there is virtually no love for Green Lantern.
Which is why Green Lantern fans ought to have jonesing for their fix ever since. Idris Elba as the stoic John Stewart would be the right move to make as far as casting is concerned to erase the bad
memories that Reynolds himself tried to eliminate at the end of Deadpool 2.
1 4 John Krasinski As Mr. Fantastic
With a less-than-fantastic four cinemas in the franchise, fans have long-suffered without an engaging movie featuring Marvel’s first household. Now that Disney has bought 21 st Century Fox and the rights have reverted to Disney, we’re all hoping that The Fantastic Four can be made correctly.
Maybe they let John Krasinski do what he did for A Quiet Place, which was a pretty big hit in 2018. He wrote, directed, and starred in the horror thriller, and all three of those credits, plus the cinema, were well received.
1 3 Emily Blunt As Invisible Woman
Thanks to her responsibilities filing for Gulliver’s Travels, Emily Blunt has to pass on playing Natasha Romanov in Iron Man 2, the characters’ first MCU appearance. Since then, the actress has built up an impressive resume, including the action movie, Edge Of Tomorrow.
If her hubby John Krasinski is going to be tapped to play Reed Richards, then let’s cast Blunt as Sue. They already played a husband and wife trying to survive in A Quiet Place. They can easily pull off scientists who wound up with superpowers.
1 2 Natalia Dyer As Rogue
It’s the fancasting that plenty of fans didn’t know they wanted! But digital artist BossLogic put together some pretty cool renditions of Stranger Things performers as members of the X-Men. Sadie Sink as Emma Frost and Winona Ryder as Mystique to name a few.
But his version of Natalia Dyer as Rogue takes the cake and makes a sense of nostalgia for the character that near-fatally absorbed Captain Marvel and less for the Anna Paquin version that was more Jubilee and less Southern Belle powerhouse.
1 1 Tom Hardy As Wolverine
The brash character actor is playing Venom, it’s hour we get over the notion that Tom Hardy will one day take over for Hugh Jackman as the raging Canucklehead, Wolverine. But there was a day where we could all dreaming, right?
Who cares if he played Bane and was tapped to be part of Suicide Squad. There are several artist supplies online of Hardy not just as Wolverine, but as Logan in full comic book costume. Since he’s Venom now, it will be a longshot when it is necessary to recasting the role, but if anyone could pull off both, it’s Hardy.
1 0 Oprah Winfrey As Amanda Waller
If you’re not familiar with Amanda Waller, or the Wall as she’s sometimes referred to- she’s basically the Nick Fury of the DCU. She’s actually way more of a horrible, secret carrying government agent. She started Task force X( aka Suicide Squad ). She also had no issues basically doing whatever she needed to do and if she had to call upon someone like Batman to clean up her messes, she would.
There aren’t much more powerful political people in Hollywood than Oprah Winfrey herself. The casting of Winfrey as Waller is route more inspired than Viola Davis( Suicide Squad ), Cynthia Addai-Robinson( Arrowverse ), and Angela Bassett( Green Lantern ).
9 David Hasselhoff As Nick Fury
What if, just what if( like the name of the old Marvel series ), we were living in a world where the original Nick Fury, who debuted years before anyone knew who David Hasselhoff was but appears eerily similar to the actor, stimulated his MCU debut and no one caught it ?!
Besides starring in a Nick Fury Fox TV Movie in the 1990 s, Hasselhoff had a silly cameo in Guardians Vol. 2. Maybe we’ll find out that once the Avengers undo the snap that Hasselhoff will be playing the new/ old Nick Fury.
8 Matt Bomer As Superman
To cast Superman is rough. You have find a dark-haired, square-jawed, built like a brick, undeniably attractive “all that is man’s man.” At the same period, a total Boy scout that everyone should aspire to be. THAT was Christopher Reeve. No disrespect to Henry Cavill and Brandon Routh, as good as the issue is, they’re simply not.
Perhaps Matt Bomer is. For some reason, he has been the internet’s choice Man Of Steel for years now. He’s voiced Clark in several DC animated movies. It’s time to give him a chance in the suit for real.
7 Finn Wolfhard As Billy Batson
By the time you’re reading this, Shazam will be in theaters. The unique take over the hero has already garnered positive reviews for its starring, Zachary Levi. The kid who turns into Shazam, Billy Batson is being played by relative unknown, Asher Angel.
The young chap of the moment though is Finn Wolfhard Of Stranger Things fame. He’s been a part of It and the new Carmen Sandiego show. He might have a lot on his plate being one of the stars of the hottest Netflix show. But casting him in any movie could add to the overall box office receipts.
6 Jon Hamm As Batman
Unless he’s choosing not to be a bigger starring, it’s a travesty that Hollywood hasn’t yet made a route bigger starring out of Jon Hamm than he already is. The versatile performer expended seven years wowing fans with a charismatic portrayal of the Don Draper on the hitting present, Mad Men.
The steely-eyed demeanor that Hamm exhibited, while occasionally letting loose and having fun all the while wearing a dapper suit. That behavior simulateds Bruce Wayne’s pretty much to the letter. Hamm’s got the appear and the act down, it’s time to see how he’d look in another suit.
5 Keanu Reeves As Wolverine
There is no denying that Hugh Jackman has been a fantastic face of the X-Men franchise, bringing Logan to life. Thanks to him, the world’s most popular mutant is thoroughly entrenched in pop culture. It will be a chore to bring him into the MCU.
Unless your name is Keanu Reeves. Some detractors will always be wary of devoting this guy his just due( thank you Bill And Ted ). But he’s been a top action starring for 25 years now and even at over 50 years old still looks in his mid-thirties. Logan is good claws if the Keanu were to be tapped for the role.
4 Mark Hamill As The Joker
The man has been widely accepted by fans as the quintessential Joker for years. Not Romero or Nicholson, and Ledger comes in a very close second. Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill has been voicing the Joker since the early nineties.
Give the guy a costume and set him on camera! No matter the medium or the rating, he’s crushed it as the Joker. It’s about time to put the monarch of the Clown Prince Of Crime on his throne.
3 Kristen Bell As Harley Quinn
Christina Ricci might seem perfect to play Harley Quinn, but there is also a slew of fan pics of Kristen Bell as the same insane lady. But what if there were two Harleys? In Batman: White Knight, that’s exactly the instance. One Harley that wanted to reform the Joker, but when the Joker tossed her aside, Marian Drews became his new Harley.
The story is totally bananas( as most Joker narratives are ), but the thought of two Harley Quinns, one completely crazy but innocent and one that is completely crazy and wants the Joker to be just as twisted “wouldve been” pretty cool to see both Ricci and Bell duke it out on screen.
2 Patrick Stewart As Mr. Freeze
The Wizard Casting Call for X-Men got it right when they cast Patrick Stewart as Professor X. There was actually no other choice. The guy would have been able to pull off a menacing Mr. Freeze as well, and one that might have saved the proceedings of Batman And Robin.
There is no way he would’ve been worse than the ultra-quippy, ultra-hammy “Ahhnaald.” He was actually initially considered, but Joel Schumacher decided that Victor Fries must be chiseled out of a glacier.
1 Ronda Rousey As Captain Marvel
Ronda Rousey has been one of the pillars of the Women’s Revolution that has taken place in athletics. Her stint in UFC will be heralded and unmatched for years. Now, as the WWE Raw Women’s Champion, she is gearing up to be part of the first ever women’s main event at WrestleMania.
If she had her style, she might also be revolutionizing the MCU as Captain Marvel. She looks the part and already knew how to fight. She might have saved Kevin Feige a couple of bucks having to train Brie Larsen.

Deadpool 2 Time Travel Theory...
So I would say the mass-majority of people use movies like Back to the Future as their basis of how time travel would work. Any tiny detail changed in the past creates a ripple effect across the universe, therefore changing things in the future or creating a whole new "alternate timeline." Marty created an alternate timeline when he bought the sports almanac in BTTF2, thinking it would be a great way to make some money when he got back to 1985. Well, to his surprise, when they got back to 1985 everything had changed. Biff ended up finding the sports almanac after Doc threw it in the trash, stole the Delorean, went back to 1955 & gave it to his younger self. This led to biff winning money on horse races, getting rich, taking over Hill Valley, killing Marty's dad, & boning Marty's mom, who now has amazing fake boobs.
Moral of the story is...if you change anything in the past, it changes things in the future...
Now if that is our basis for time travel, let's talk about the events that happened at the end of Deadpool 2 & how they may effect that franchise moving forward. This will serve as our friendly neighborhood SPOILER ALERT...if you have not seen Deadpool 2 yet, do not read any further, as there WILL BE SPOILERS AHEAD!!!
Ok...last chance to turn back...
Alright...so at the end of Deadpool 2, Wade goes back in time using Cable's time travel device & saves Vanessa from being killed. He also saves fellow X-Force member "Sugar Bear" Peter & kills both the Wolverine: Origins version of "Deadpool" as well as Ryan Reynolds, to prevent him from taking the Green Lantern role.
After watching this scene, I thought of this...everything that happens in the movie is caused by Vanessa dying in the first place. So my question is, does that mean none of the events of the movie happen at all now since Wade saved her? Shouldn't there be some epic ripple effect that goes across this entire universe that Deadpool is a part of? Shouldn't he have some Marty McFly moment where he wakes up, his house is clean, his brother & sister are dressed nicely while eating breakfast, his mom & dad come in from playing tennis, Biff owns an auto company & is waxing a car in the driveway, & he finds out his dad is a famous author? If we are following the Back to the Future style of time travel, you would think so.
If Vanessa doesn't die, Wade would never try to kill himself. If Wade never blows himself up into pieces, then Colossus would never come get Wade & bring him back to the X-Mansion to heal. If Colossus never brings Wade back to the X-Mansion, Wade would never go along on the mission to save Russell, therefore never meeting Russell at all in the first place. Cable is coming back to kill Russell, so if Wade never met Russell at all, he may never cross paths with Cable & Cable may just kill Russell & be done with it. Having never been part of any of this, Wade would never need to start X-Force in the first place, so he would never meet them & none of them would die from high winds. Basically, nothing that happened would happen if Vanessa doesn't die.
Is your mind as fucking twisted as mine yet?...good, I'm glad that we are on the same page then...
My thought is that maybe time travel works completely differently in the universe that Deadpool is a part of. I'd say generally, everyone pretty much follows that Back to the Future methodology for how time travel works, & there are other movies/books like The Time Machine that somewhat follow this same thought process. So maybe we are just thinking of it all wrong.
Cable does mention that his device allows him to "slide" through time. So maybe once time is set, it is set, & he is just popping in & out here & there to change individual things. I mean it seems like this is how Cable & Bishop both time traveled in both the comics & the cartoon as well. Maybe things in the past can be changed, but doing so does not cause such the big ripple effect that we are all used to from other movies/books. Maybe everything that happened in Deadpool 2 still happened, but now Vanessa & Peter are just alive. That's it. Everything else; Wade trying to kill himself, Wade going to the X-Mansion, Wade meeting Russell, Wade meeting Cable, Wade having a tiny penis & baby legs, maybe it all still happened. But now Vanessa & Peter have just "slid" through time to what the present timeline is. Almost like taking them out of time at the time of their death, but just replacing them in a different time after Wade saves them. So realistically, this means that the world around them stays the same, but just things to individual people changed. It's almost the opposite to the Back to the Future style of time travel.
Crazy, right?
But let's dig deeper into the way that the "traditional" Back to the Future style of time travel works. If there is indeed a ripple effect from Wade saving Vanessa, like we have said, none of the events of the movie should take place at all. So what I am saying here is that the entire X-Force team never dies & people like Shatterstar & Bedlam are still alive in this universe. But that thought process also means that Russell still turns into an asshole & ends up murdering Cable's family.
This whole thing just made my brain tie in knots when I started thinking about it, so I had to share it with you guys & get your feedback on it as well. Since Disney has bought Fox, ownership of Deadpool, the X-Men, & even the Fantastic Four has all gone back to Marvel/Disney. So that means that all of these character could start showing up in MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) films with other characters like Iron Man, Captain America, & all of the other Avengers.
Given the time travel element in Deadpool 2 & also in X-Men: Days of Future Past, there could be ways that all of these characters could easily fit into the MCU now. Not that they couldn't before, but now there can be explanations for certain things happening, given that time travel is involved. Also, there are rumors that time travel could be a big part of Avengers 4 (which we will get into in a later post), so that could just add to all the craziness of timelines & realities completely getting fucked up & changed as a whole.
The even crazier part is that the device Cable uses to “slide” through time looks damn-near identical to the devices that have been seen on the hands of Iron Man, Captain American, & Ant Man in Avengers 4 set photos. I’m not trying to create some crazy conspiracy theory here, but maybe the two are connected somehow. Like maybe the time travel device that Cable uses from the future is based on a design Tony Stark created. Just something fun to think about. But then again, the ones in Avengers 4 may not even be time travel devices. Many people think that they are actually containment units for the Infinity Stones.
Like I said, we’ll get into some of the Avengers 4 stuff really soon, so I don’t want to go too much deeper down that hole just yet. But that’s my theory on the time travel element of Deadpool 2. I’m thinking that time travel in general just works completely differently than what we all may be accustomed to from other movies/books. I think they are able to just pop in & out & that there is no overall ripple effect.
I know it’s a crazy theory, but I had to put it out there in the world somehow. Let me know what you guys think & thanks for reading!

Ten Superheroes and Their Definitive Actors
We all have our favorite superheroes that have appeared on both TV and cinema and asked if they were real, we’d identify them with a face, and it would be that of the actor that portrayed them. For some of us who have lived longer than others, we’d probably think of faces the current generation doesn’t know of so this list will be limited to our heroes’ cinematic outings. But even then an entry or two would be from an older era. These roles have made or broken some actors but what matters is, that they brought the role to life and we couldn’t think of anyone else more suited. If only they didn’t age, right? Superman – Richard Donner’s Superman starring Christopher Reeve was a groundbreaking superhero film. The choice of Christopher Reeve as Superman was perfect. Reeve had the looks and the build to support the role. He wore the bright, red, blue and yellow costume without looking silly even by today’s standards. He also had a certain charm and charisma that embodied DC’s flagship hero. And though several actors have played the role on film and TV, many people still identify the late Christopher Reeve as the definitive Superman. Wonder Woman – the character had been waiting for so long for a cinematic outing. Whether Warner Brothers and DC were afraid a female-led film wouldn’t work, or Batman just makes a lot more money. But the world was greeted with surprise when Wonder Woman, starring Gal Gadot turned out to be such a great film. It’s now being compared to Richard Donner’s Superman film, and Gal Gadot is now being billed as the definitive Wonder Woman. Though she first appeared in Batman V Superman, the film’s reception has been disappointing that Gal Gadot’s appearance became muted but many agree that it was one of the best parts of the film. The DC Trinity is finally complete in cinematic form, and hopefully, she’s handled carefully in Justice League and in the Wonder Woman sequel to really cement Gal Gadot’s face to the character, replacing the lovely Lynda Carter who has as the face of the iconic female hero. Batman – Now this is a tough one. In deference to the recently departed Adam West, he just wasn’t well-known as the cinematic Batman even though the TV series had a cinematic special called Batman The Movie. Two actors actually fit the bill and there have been many since Batman was made into the superhero equivalent of James Bond surrounded by much hype as who will play the iconic hero as well as the villain of the year. Michael Keaton is credited into propelling the character to great heights in cinema thanks to director Tim Burton. Michael Keaton has brought the character out of darkness or rather back into it through the film simply titled Batman in 1989. Keaton played the role again in Batman Returns. The two subsequent films weren’t as well received as the first two and changing directors as well as lead actors aren’t well received back then as it is now. This franchise died taking the early superhero genre along with it in the disastrous Batman and Robin. Keaton had the seriousness it took despite doubts being a comedic actor. He had the looks and the build though Batman also popularized the rubber muscle trend. The quirky directing also worked plus the darker tone, the awesome costume and the awesome Batmobile and Batwing made this film very memorable, placing Keaton in an enviable role as the face of Batman. Though some fans would dispute this as the new Dark Knight Trilogy by Christopher Nolan, starring Christian Bale revitalized the popularity of the character in cinema. Not to mention Bale playing the character throughout the trilogy. The best film of the trilogy, The Dark Knight, was well received, thanks to a great plot, direction and acting with an awesome performance by the late Heath Ledger as the Joker who might as well have taken over Jack Nicholson as the face of Batman’s best villain. Iron Man – It’s very difficult to think of anyone else playing Iron Man than Robert Downey Jr. You could say that he was born for the role; and like Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, he has been playing the role since forever or more than a decade since the MCU franchise began. RDJ has the looks, RDJ has the build and RDJ has the snark of the character to a T. Robert Downey Jr. also shares some of the character’s own personal battles with alcoholism and thanks to the Iron Man film last 2008, RDJ’s career is at an all-time high. He has the majority of the MCU films under his belt, so it will be difficult to forget him as the definitive Iron Man. Spider-Man – This is another tough one, but there’s still no doubt that the majority still identifies Tobey McGuire as Spider-Man. McGuire has three films under his belt, and two of them were spectacular (pun intended). Spider-Man 3 is seen as a troubled sibling, but it’s not that bad. Some critics say though that Director Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy was too dramatic. What we have to remember though is that Marvel’s heroes are often thrust with real-world problems much like everyone else. They have to deal with problems regarding nerdity, love, responsibilities, and finances all of which are depicted nicely in the films. Tobey may now be memed for his role, but those serve to remind us that he’s still Spider-Man and not the other guy with the weird hair. Whether we’ll be singing a different tune after Spider-Man: Homecoming remains to be seen as Tom Holland seemed to have a handle on Spider-Man in the few minutes he was in Captain America: Civil War. Personally, Marisa Tomei nails it as the face of Aunt May but Rosemary Harris nails it too if we stick through the comics and the Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends cartoon. Captain America – Captain America has been around for a long, long time like Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman. But unlike Wonder Woman, he had several cinematic outings before Captain America: The First Avenger. First, there was Matt Salinger in that lackluster 90s film, and there were those TV movies starring Reb Brown, but they were forgettable, low-budget and lackluster not to mention strayed too far from the source material. Actor Chris Evans certainly has the looks and the build to star as the Star-Spangled Man with a Plan. He also has the talent as he delivers his archaic period lines and attitude on the big screen. To further emphasize, Evans might as well be the face of the Human Torch as he played the Fantastic Four’s rambunctious Johnny Storm quite well. Seriously, these guys and the talk about their contracts. They need to be cloned. Wolverine – Hugh Jackman would probably be stuck down under as a great actor in that part of the world if it wasn’t for Ol’ Canucklehead. Hugh Jackman isn’t exactly well known for his other films, Pan being the worst. And imagine if Bob Hoskins got the role because Wolverine calls for a short, stocky guy? Lucky for us, Jackman got the part, and the height thing was thrown out the window. Unfortunately, Logan is the last we’ll see of him as Wolverine and Logan, being a great film compared to the other X-titles, is a great way of coming out on top. Professor X – speaking of another hero we won’t be seeing again; Patrick Stewart has also called it quits after Logan. His role in the film was perhaps his greatest and most effing tragic. We’ve known him as Professor X from the beginning of the film franchise and upon knowing there was going to be an X-Men film, the first person fans may have thought of is Patrick Stewart. Yes, because he’s old and bald but he’s also a great actor. Debate still rages in the Trek world if he’s better at being captain of the Enterprise than William Shatner. Again, Patrick Stewart pulls off the looks quite nicely and delivers his lines effectively. The role of Professor X has now been passed on to James McAvoy, but for most of us, Professor Xavier’s cinematic face will be Patrick Stewart. Nick Fury – Samuel L. Jackson has influenced the character of Nick Fury even before he took the cinematic role. Sounds like a Chuck Norris meme but it’s true. Samuel L. Jackson was the face of Nick Fury in Marvel’s Ultimate universe. That’s how great his appeal is. That is the very reason he secured the role of Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Iron Man 1. ‘Okay, you can use my mother$%#ng face, but I gotta be in your mother$%#ng films!’ He nails the role through sheer talent, and he doesn’t have to worry about his looks straying from the source material. He is the source material. What was that? The Hoff was first? The point is? Blade – Not many actually thought of Blade as a comic book superhero, but everyone knew that Wesley Snipes nailed the stake right through the heart, at least for the first two films. Good Lord, Trinity… Anyway, there hasn’t been any mention of Blade in other media apart from an appearance in the 90s Spider-Man cartoon. The first guy for the role is often the best especially if the film was great, just like Christopher Reeve and unlike Ben Affleck in Daredevil. Wesley Snipes was perfect for the film with his looks and his action cred. His acting is okay, but the film pulls through on his badass appearance and action alone. The Snipes look carries through the Blade anime TV series and recent comic books. Now Snipes may be the face of Blade, but is a reboot with him recast in the MCU a good idea? Honorable Mentions Deadpool – Ryan Reynolds had his chance at being the Green Lantern. It’s not that he blew it, there were other factors at play. But he did nail Deadpool, and he’s more attuned to his character due to his own method of acting. He also has the looks and build though his good looks need to be tinkered to look like an oversexed avocado. Ryan Reynolds is the only face for Deadpool right now, and we give it to him unless Fox screws up the next film. He’s actually been Deadpool twice with the first in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. He was great in the first act, and comic book fans immediately knew he was the Merc with a Mouth. The last act where they sewed that mouth shut was probably what killed the movie for a lot of fans. Hulk – There has already been five cinematic Hulks. Bill Bixby, Lou Ferrigno, Eric Bana, Edward Norton and Mark Ruffalo. We count Lou as he played the actual Hulk opposite Bill Bixby’s David Banner (yes, not Bruce). Bana and Norton played the character once, if we’re going to base this on number of appearances but Bill, Lou and Mark have played it several times already. Unfortunately, Bill and Lou don’t count as the film The Trial of the Incredible Hulk was made for TV. To be fair, Edward Norton had the better and full cinematic appearance as Bruce Banner than Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk has yet to star in a solo film. But Mark has been in the game since Avengers and is set to appear in Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War. Edward probably owns this one until Hulk is better defined in the upcoming films. What do you think?

New Post has been published on http://www.pointofgeeks.com/x-men-dark-phoenix-to-feature-shiar-empire/
X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX To Feature Shi'ar Empire?
Publicly, the future of the X-Men on film seems to be in flux. However, behind the scenes there is a lot of movement on the Fox Studios’ lot for everyone’s favorite band of mutants.
The Wolverine franchise has come to a close after a successful curtain call with Logan. New Mutants is gearing up to shoot in a matter of weeks. The sequel to Deadpool is also prepping for a summer shoot with Josh Brolin ready to costar with Ryan Reynolds as Cable. However, with all of these spin-offs in production, the adventures of the primary cast of Charles Xavier’s X-Men seems to be on the back burner. That’s not the case.
Thanks to Omega Underground, they have come across an audition tape for the upcoming film, X-Men: Dark Phoenix. The video is of actor Toby Huss (Cowboys and Aliens) auditioning for an unknown role for the superhero movie. You can check out the audition by here.
Hoover:Have you learned their language?
2nd Character:Please, there are only 171,000 more than 40,000 of which are obsolete.
Hoover: They are a primitive people. They have never been a threat to anyone but themselves.
2nd Character: If that was so true, we wouldn’t be here. So, what have you learned? What type of weapons do they have? Who are their most powerful protectors?
Hoover: They call themselves SEALS, and their the ones responsible for what’s happened.
The dialogue signals a character that isn’t familiar with Earthly customs and norms. Hoover seems to be on a recon mission and is scouting the planet for the second, unnamed player. That 2nd Character seems to be of higher rank and is interested mostly in the military strength of this unknown place. Omega Underground concludes that the dialogue seems to indicate the presence of the Shi’ar Empire, one of the most advanced alien species in Marvel Comics.
It has been widely known that the new movie will adapt the seminal story line from X-Men comics, “The Dark Phoenix Saga.” The story was written by comic book legend Chris Claremont and focused on Jean Grey becoming corrupted and possessed by a dark cosmic force. The story spans from Earth to the farthest reaches of outer space and is one of comic’s greatest stories.
It’s clear that Fox has been inspired by the success of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise and the Shi’ar would be ideal conduits to take their adventures to an intergalactic stage. With the lackluster release of X-Men: Apocalypse, it’s clear that the franchise needed a shakeup. With casting currently underway, there should be much more from Dark Phoenix in the coming weeks so keep checking back for more.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix opens on November 2nd, 2018.

10 – Iron Man
Here we have the one that started it all, IRON MAN. Before this, Comic Book movies from Marvel, aside from Blade, were very laughable. So laughable that I must admit, I didn’t even see this in the theater until the FAMOUS end credits appeared on the internet and got my ass all excited again.
With the most perfect casting in history (Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark) and a really great origin story, this movie has earned its place among the best comic book movies of all time.
9 – X-Men: Days of Future Past
Let’s be honest here. X-Men movies haven’t always been the best. The first three movies were good, only because we had never seen our favorite mutants on television, but as far as the test of time goes, they failed. They really weren’t like anything we had read in the comics and come on…. the cinematic version of the Juggernaut was embarrassing.
And then X-Men: First Class came out and it was really good, despite not following the comics. But it was good. And then this movie came out. Oh MY GOD! It was super good. X-Men in the 70’s! X-Men in the future! Two cuts of this movie that are equally good! Mutants die, tears are shed, and Storm had an awesome death! Plus, how could you not feel for Kitty, who had the weight of saving the world on her shoulders.
And for the ladies, Hugh Jackman bared some cheeks. Lol.
8 – Captain America: Winter Soldier
Holy, Cap! This was an Oscar worthy movie that Hollywood snubbed, because after all… it’s just a comic book movie. FUCK YOU, Hollywood! This was the Russo Brothers masterpiece that pit Captain America as a man on the run from his country in a homage to those 1970’s government conspiracy flicks. And boy did it deliver.
And everyone. Go back and check out that scene with Cap in the elevator with all those SHIELD soldiers. Awesome!
7 – Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
My personal favorite comic book movie of all time is Vol. 1 of this trilogy. Now Vol. 2 is right up there behind its predecessor on my personal favorites list.
First, the movie delivers laughs after laugh. From Groot’s opening dance routine to Yondu’s Mary Poppins homage to Mantis and all her quirks, this film never… and I mean never, had a dull moment.
Second, the soundtrack. The first movie brought back the point on how important a soundtrack can be for a film and this movie just added to that point. Every single song fit the scene and during the credits, the music kept you entertained in-between those five ends credit scenes. In the words of David Hasselhoff, “WE ARE GROOT.”
And finally, this was also a touching film about relationships…. like Peter’s between his father and him… or Rocket’s between him and the crew… or Gamora’s between her and Nebula…. and even Yondu’s with Peter or his former Ravenger buddies. This film was more than laughs and good music. This film was a beautiful representation on the importance of the relationship you have with the ones who matter most.
6 – Captain America: Civil War
This wasn’t a masterpiece as much as it was the perfect summer blockbuster movie. And damn, did this movie deliver the blockbusters!
We got our very first “true” MCU Spider-Man which caused many fanboys like myself to nerdgasm. Tom Holland perfectly nailed not only Spider-man, but the awkward teenager that is Peter Parker. And the exchange between Spidey and Cap… classic.
Also, the Black Panther made his MCU debut and what a debut it was. He was regal as well as bad ass and many fans such as myself can’t wait for his movie. Oh. And then there’s Ant-man’s BIG Surprise that you have to see for yourself.
All in all, this movie promised and it delivered.
5 – Logan
Finally FOX! This is what a Wolverine movie should have always been like —- R-Rated and a masterpiece. While not following the comic book story, “Old Man Logan”, this movie does borrow a bit, placing Logan in a future where most mutants, including the X-Men are long dead. Not only is Logan burdened with an aged and weak Prof. X who can no longer control his powers, but he also has to get his “Daughter” Laura to Canada where a mutant paradise is awaiting her, away from the clutches of an evil organization bent on using young mutants as their personal weapons.
This movie is dark, it’s deep, and holds no claws back.
4 – Deadpool
Thank you, Ryan Reynolds and whoever leaked the Deadpool test footage, because out of that, we got the R-Rated Comic Book movie that every diehard Geek like myself has always prayed to the “One-Above-All” for, Deadpool.
From the hilarious opening credits set to Julie Newton’s Angel of the Morning to Deadpool’s little hand to the battle on a SHIELD Helicarrier, this movie had it all. Come on, the movie even had Hydra Agent Bob. Oh. And Angel Dust even made Colossus blush.
And in honor of Ryan Reynolds, here’s his favorite photo of himself followed by the leak test footage that got this movie made.
3 – Guardians of the Galaxy
I’m not going to lie. This is my favorite movie of all time and I’m so proud to admit that. Before this movie was released, many people were saying this was going to be Marvel’s first big flop, but low and behold, it became one of Marvel’s most successful movies ever.
Things I loved about this move? Let’s see…..
A) Peter Quill’s musical introduction. Come on! Who starts off a movie like this? Well James Gunn did and it was amazing!
B) The exchange between Quill and Korath. Peter (With confidence): There’s another name you may know me by. —- I’m Star-Lord. Korath (Confused): Who? Lol. Cracks me up every time.
C) And there’s this moment:
And D) There’s so many great moments in this movie, I’d run out of the Alphabet before I could list them all so….
2 – The Avengers
This movie. Man, you fans have no idea how much of a pipe dream a movie like this seemed to long time fans like myself. Growing up in the 80’s and 90’s, comic book movies were on the same level as crap. I’m serious. Bat-Man and Robin anyone? But then came Iron Man and all of a sudden, the impossible dream seemed very possible.
Now this team wasn’t the same as the original Avengers, which had no Cap, Black Widow, or Hawkeye, but as far as the reality went, it was more than perfect. Every single character was introduced organically and they meshed with each other perfectly. Who could forget the Hulk versus Thor or Black Widow’s Horror Movie inspired experience with the Hulk, or the Hulk smashing that puny God Loki, or….. basically, the Hulk was awesome… as were all of the cast.
Was this Marvel’s best movie? Hells yeah!
Honorable Mentions:

Ant-Man Man of Steel Spider-Man 2 Watchmen
1 – The Dark Knight
And finally, the comic book inspired movie that’s more than just a comic book movie. It’s a masterpiece. Thank you, Christopher Nolan and thank you, Heath Ledger…. may you rest in peace.
This movie was hands down, the best Batman movie ever. Cristian Bale was a perfect Batman trying to take down the Joker, played by Ledger in the role he was born to play (He also won an Oscar for this role.) Batman gave all he had to take the Joker down and the Joker begged for more every step of the way, but in the end, everyone loss… including poor Harvey Dent.
5 stars, 10 out of 10. That’s how good this movie was.
Top 10 Comic Book Movies 10 - Iron Man Here we have the one that started it all, IRON MAN. Before this, Comic Book movies from Marvel, aside from Blade, were very laughable.

Tis the start of the week, thus it's time for Random-News-Digest! Only a few categories, though...
Disney Live Action
"Beauty and the Beast" has had its big Hollywood premiere several days ago, following the UK one that was already held in a prior date. Which means, critics have begun voicing their opinions about it. From what I read so far, the response was... rather divisive. Some called it a loyal, bold, and faithful adaptation of the original, that would bring together old fans and new ones alike. Some praised the movie to the point of predicting it to be one of the year's first best-selling title so far, that it's going to make a lot of money. But on the opposite side, there were those who weren't as pleased with the adaptation. Collider called it "too much of a good thing", and The Hollywood Reporter likened it to a "crystal-meth-like narcotic high that lasts about two hours"! Both which... can mean good and bad at the same time. Of course, the rule of the thumb is, everyone has the rights to have their own personal and subjective opinion. So in the end, it's all just a matter of taste. Knowing that, it's hard to pinpoint which one of these responses is the accurate one, without actually seeing the movie with our own eyes. In fact, even you and I might have a completely different opinion about it. That's just the way it is.
Backlash to the movie also came in other areas. The first one was about Disney's approach to the 'renewed' sexual orientation of one character, that made fans both buzzing in cheer and jeer. The movie might not even gain access to Russia JUST because of it! WOW. In an interview with Attitude Magazine, director Bill Condon (who is openly LGBT, in case you're not aware) stated that Josh Gad's LeFou might be heading towards a more 'queer' trajection in the movie. Basically crowning him as Disney's first openly LGBT character in the big screen. This is said to be an update from the original animated movie, that originally placed his character as some kind of idiot manservant comic-relief to Gaston. Who, by the way, in the movie is played by the loveable dashing actor Luke Evans. Thus making perfect sense that anyone, regardless of their gender, might easily have a crush on him *wink*.
In my opinion (rhyming nicely with LeFou's actor's point of view), I see nothing wrong with it. In fact, this is a natural progresive albeit MINOR update that embraces the change in our culture and society. If not something that simply works as a subtle tribute to the late Howard Ashman, the original lyricist of the animated movie, whose fingerprints are all over the animated movie. C'mon guys, it's the year 2017! But why minor, you ask? Because if you actually pay attention to the character of LeFou in the animated movie, there has ALWAYS been a hint of attraction to his boss. Something that went beyond mere "I respect my boss so much, I'll go with him wherever he goes". It WAS there all along, so what Disney is doing, is nothing more than a confirmation. Problem is, there are people who simply don't want to accept this, and being an internet era, immediately voiced their disagreement. Especially after USA officially became a 'discriminative country' thanks to its new elected leader. This kind of reaction feels... ODD, if you ask me. But to each their own, so who am I to judge, right? Besides, just like above, I need to see the movie first before I can fairly say whether this update is for the better or opposite, or even worth the pointless argument alone.
The other negative buzz, was the ridiculous questioning of lead actress Emma Watson's feminism stand! With some even going so far as calling her... a hypocrite. YIKES! Yes, this came following her rather revealing photo shoot for an interview with Vanity Fair. This reaction, was also... ODD. Pray tell, WHAT is really the point of being a feminist? Isn't it, the FREEDOM of choice for women to express themselves, to stand proud without the need to be approved by men? Isn't that... what Watson was doing? Hmmmm. Which is why I'm feeling confused about the reasonings behind these decries. Does this mean, a fully grown-up actress (albeit growing on-screen from an innocent child one), is NOT allowed to do both? Posing elegantly in a magazine for a mature art piece, and still be a feminist who stands up for female rights? Once again, do tell me what's the point of feminism. Because the way I see it, if she's not allowed to perform such pose just because she's a woman, then isn't that... sexist instead? And for crying out loud, it's her own body too, not ours! Really, please elaborate me on this (which is a sarcastic rhetoric, in case you don't realize one). I thought being feminist is an ideal that extends more than just about women wearing pants...
As of writing, "Beauty and the Beast" is sitting at a score of 73%, aggregated from 44 critics on RottenTomatoes. This number will definitely fluctuate in the coming weeks, so it's not the end result. For the sake of pure numerical comparison only (not quality, that'd be subjective), Disney's previous two live action remakes ranked higher. Kenneth Branagh's "Cinderella" ended with a 83%, while Jon Favreau's recent Academy Award winning "The Jungle Book" finished with a heaping 95%. To be fair, I'm never a fan of the original animated movie in the first place, so my interest to see this movie hasn't been as high as those other titles. But now my curiousity has peaked at the highest level, because I just need to see whether these absurd complains are true, or that these people are only making too much of a big deal out of nothing. I have a feeling it's the second one...
Currently in production for a December 25, 2018 release, is the long awaited sequel "Mary Poppins Returns". Disney Studio has officially released the first look for lead actress Emily Blunt as the titular character via Twitter. And well, response to this one was generally positive. Which was on point, if you ask me, because Disney is keeping most of Poppins' signature looks in tact. That is something that would easily please fans of the first movie that starred the legendary Julie Andrews. Of course, with the risk of sounding pessimistic, "Beauty and the Beast" also had the same warm-welcome at first. But look at what is happening now, right?
Anyway, I expect we're going to see more of the other cast really soon. Just a reminder, Ben Whishaw and Emily Mortimer are set to portray the adult versions of Michael and Jane Banks, the children that Poppins nannied in the first movie. Lin-Manuel Miranda is set to play Jack, a street lamplighter who will aid Poppins in her mission to bring back joy to the Banks. While Meryl Streep will be playing her cousin. Will this movie be as captivating and genuinely endearing like the first one? Or will it suffer unnecessary backlashes, because people in the modern age are more prone to complain about everything and can't seem to shut their mouth for just a moment to enjoy something as is? As always, we'll see... hahaha.
X-Men Universe
Before you ask, NO, I won't talk about that X-Men TV show that had just cast its Polaris. I couldn't care less about it, so this is as far as I go on even mentioning one. Yep, I'll just focus on talking about the movies instead. But nope, I won't talk about that NOT-Supernova X-Men movie, which I couldn't care less. Not even "Logan" as well. Even if critics everywhere are praising the movie, seemingly unable to find any flaws in the R-rated gruesome comic book adaptation, that is already raking a great amount of money in its first weekend (and exceeding expectations too). I just don't have that much interest for Hugh Jackman's last foray as the titular character, and will not watch one until.... the home video is out. That's all I can say.
Instead, I'm going to talk about another title that seems to be in pre-production process. Yes, "Deadpool 2"! Sequel to the surprise hit that made FOX shifted direction into venturing the R-rated superhero business. Apparently, there's a short for the sequel that has been playing in front of "Logan". Not to worry though, because FOX and lead actor Ryan Reynolds has kindly released this 03:41 minutes butt-sho... er, I mean "No Good Deed" online for everyone to see. So it's not just limited to those who are watching "Logan" anymore. Lucky for me, eh? Then again, that's not such a big deal anyway (Deadpool: "R U effing kidding me?"), because writer-producer Rhett Reese has clarified that this footage will NOT be used in the movie itself. What's the purpose then? Simply a final message to Hugh Jackman before he rides off into the sunset. After all, with Wolverine officially gone, the burden has fallen to Reynolds' shoulder to carry the flag of the FOX-Marvel franchise. Reese also confirmed that his sequel is currently in casting mode, hence why there is no release date given for the movie just yet.
Speaking of casting, another big name has been thrown to the "Who Should Play Cable" hopefuls. This time, it's a popular name that would make Netflix's fans happy, particularly those who are watching "Stranger Things". According to The Wrap, Hawkins Police Department Chief himself, David Harbour, has been considered for the role of the future-based mutant. He even said to have screen-tested for the part. Of course, knowing what happened to previous contenders like Kyle Chandler, this doesn't necessarily mean Harbour is set for the role. So don't get excited too much too soon about it, because it might very well be just a passing news in the near future. Not to mention, The Wrap's source El Mayimbe isn't as reliable as he used to be anymore, with most of his scoops regarding "Logan" turning out to be false. Nevertheless, it's still interesting to see the range of actors they are looking for the character.
Personally, while I think Harbour's a fantastic actor, I just couldn't see him as Cable. Not saying that he won't be able to pull it off, but I'm expecting someone who's a little more... stern and naturally buffed, considering the character itself has always been like that. That's nothing Hollywood can't fixed of course, but those who already came with the built would be better. Perhaps, the likes of John Cena, or Joe Manganiello would fit my criteria for this role? Even the recently cast Black Bolt, could be a better choice... physique-wise. Anyway, let's just hope we'll hear more about the casting soon. With "Logan" already out on the market, and its actor posting a final message to Wolverine fans, it makes sense that FOX would be moving ahead with "Deadpool 2". To keep the hype strong for their favor, what else?
Marvel Studios
"Doctor Strange" has been released for home video for quite some time now. Thanks to this, director Scott Derrickson has been making rounds about his movie once more, either with the press or via social media. He's been answering questions on Twitter lately, and his response might have hinted on what we can expect from the as-of-yet-unnannounced sequel. To be honest, since "Doctor Strange" was a success and a easy hit among audience, even snagging some prestigious Awards honors ever since (like Academy Award?), a sequel is nothing more than a sure thing. Highly likely Marvel Studios consciously opts to not reveal too much about it though, to keep the momentum and attention towards current projects instead. Heck, confirming its sequel for Phase 4 could even be considered spoiler alert for "Avengers: Infinity War", right? A movie that will see Benedict Cumberbatch's second return in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Intriguingly, while Derrickson hasn't been confirmed to return for the directorial duty, the way he responded with ideas and everything, seems to have partially confirmed that he would definitely be back, or at least involved in the sequel.
As for what he said about the inevitable solo sequel, Derrickson has revealed several interesting bits. When asked about the potential of Jericho Drumm, or more familiarly known as the Master of Mystic Arts Brother Voodoo, Derrickson replied that his brother, Daniel Drumm's demise might not serve as a mere pointless random incident. After all, this IS Marvel Studios we're talking about, and not FOX nor Warner Bros. His death will surely triggered an after-effect from his younger brother. Since in recent years Jericho has become a Sorcerer Supreme himself, it makes perfect sense to see him joining the sequel as Strange's apprentice. To add credential to this, do remember that when Chiwetel Ejiofor was cast, many sites have speculated that he's playing Jericho instead of Mordo. As for which actor should play Jericho? Expect Marvel Studios to target big names. I don't know, how about... Trevante Rhodes from the latest Best Picture Winner "Moonlight"? *grins*
The brief inclusion of Dormammu the Dread in the movie, would naturally pave way to another key character in the Doctor Strange lore: his equally magical romantic interest, Clea. It wouldn't be surprising to see the character incorporated in the sequel, because as Derrickson himself stated, "you can't tell the story of Doctor Strange w/out eventually dealing w/Clea.". It's safe to say that we haven't seen the last of Dormammu, thus his silver-haired sorceress nephew will surely come into play as well. As for the villain, Derrickson mentioned the name Nightmare once again, but unlike before, he has backtracked a bit with a tinge of uncertainly because he's a "tricky villain to get right". In my opinion, going with Nightmare would allow Marvel Studios to completely venture to the realm of horror genre, and that's certainly going to be a challenge. It could open the gate for supernatural characters like Blade, or Moon Knight too. Especially since Derrickson is clearly a fan of the latter, as much as the Fantastic Four.
Promotional materials have begun hitting the internet, in anticipation of the arrival of "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2". We get to see more of Kurt Russel's Ego, as well as Yondu and Nebula who both have been hinted greatly to be joining the team. The movie will open on May 5, 2017 in the US, but I won't be surprised if it arrives earlier in other countries. In fact, I believe it will be available here late next month. Because that's how it has always worked for Marvel Studios movies. We almost always get a May movie in April. The good news is, even after seeing the third and latest trailer, I still don't have any clue about what the movie is all about. Which is good, because I'd love nothing more than some elements of surprise!
Meanwhile, the July movie, "Spider-Man: Homecoming" is said to have begun additional photography as we speak. Or 'reshoots', in case you prefer a much pessimistic sounding choice of words. According to reports from social media, a crew for the movie was spotted at Disneyland California. Not just that, a school bus scene apparently has been filmed outside of LA's Van Nuys High School. There isn't an official confirmation for reshoots like this, but it is said that lead actor Tom Holland and his personal assistant- best friend Harrison Osterfield will be meeting with co-star Jacob Batalon very soon. Is it for this reshoot? It's anyone's guess.
As for "Infinity War" that's currently in production, there's a rather startling news that was sparked from Atlanta Business Chronicle. Namely, the claim of Pinewood Atlanta Studios' co-owner, that there is a "largest film production ever with a $1 billion budget." going on right there. Easy bet obviously went to Marvel Studios, considering "Infinity War" is gathering a huge number of actors and resources, to create what seems to be a 'Two-Parts Finale' of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Mind you, NONE of this was official news. It was never stated openly that "Infinity War" was what the co-owner was talking about. It's all a result of speculation and pure assumption. But since we know how the internet works, it's more than enough to drive people talking. Both in praise and cynical tone.
Interestingly, this wasn't even new. Bleeding Cool, had also reported the same rumor before. Calling the combination of "Infinity War" and the 2019's UNTITLED Avengers movie to reach the exact same number. So is this true, then? Though I'm inclined to believe its possibility, there's always a high chance that it's nothing more than an exaggeration. After all, Bleeding Cool in particular has been known to be an anti-Kevin Feige fansite, who favors the side of Marvel Comics (as well as Marvel TV) more. That alone is enough to make me question the foundation behind their report. Not to mention, they don't really have a good track-record in reporting insider info. Remember, they were the one who assumed that Chiwetel Ejiofor would be playing Brother Voodo. And we all know how that turned out to be, right? Sean Gerber had posted a fine thinkpiece about how this situation does NOT make sense, pointing out some valid reasons for this to be illogical. Go ahead and read it on Marvel Studios News.
Marvel TV
Production has officially begun for Marvel's "The Inhumans" last week. Precisely on March 3, 2017. Photos of Black Bolt from the set has already begun circulating on the internet (courtesy of Reel News Hawaii)! So fast, huh? A few days prior, the remaining core cast members have been announced. Joining the already announced Iwan Rheon and Anson Mount, were the other Inhumans Royal family characters, as well as two more supporting ones.
The first one to be announced was gorgeous actress Serinda Swan, who was cast to play Medusa Amaquelin. Medusa is the wife of Black Bolt, which means she's the Queen of the Inhumans. Interestingly, this isn't Swan's first comic book role, as she has portrayed the magician Zatanna in the TV series "Smallville" before. Her casting announcement was followed by Asian-American actor Ken Leung, who will be portraying Karnak Mander-Azur. Similar to Swan, this wasn't Leung's first comic book role, as he has played the mutant Spike in FOX's critically panned "X-Men: The Last Stand". To put it simple, Leung is officially both a mutant and inhuman now. How cool is that?
Several others, and arguably lesser characters were announced all together as the production officially began. African-American actor Eme Ikwuakor is set to play Gorgon Petragon. Australian actress Isabelle Cornish will portray Crystal Amaquelin, who is Medusa's younger sister. Mike Moh, familiarly known by gamers all around the world as Ryu in "Street Fighter Assassin's Fist" web-series and its sequel, has been cast as Triton Mander-Azur, who is Karnak's blood-brother. Hawaiian native Sonya Balmores, will portray the Inhumans Royal Guard Auran, while Ellen Woglom's character is currently undisclosed to not spoil the storyline. The same announcement also confirmed the appearance of one key character of the Royal Family: LOCKJAW!!!
As for the characters they are playing, if the official announcements were any indication, then we might be seeing a very faithful adaptation of the comics. Black Bolt will have the power of his devastating voice. Medusa would have her 'powerful hair'. Karnak will be Black Bolt's brilliant strategist with the natural ability to pinpoint weakness in all things. The same with the other three. His brother Triton will have his fish-like ability, Gorgon will have his super strong legs and hooves, while Crystal is a master of elements. Just like in the comics! The only change that seems apparent, is the switching of Karnak and Triton placing in the Mander-Azur family. In the comics, Triton has been described as the older son. But seeing their actors age, it seems this might be reversed. Which shouldn't be a surprise, since many adaptations have been practicing the exact approach ("Ultimate Spider-Man" animated shows, for example). For more information on how these Royal characters are linked as a Family (they are literally siblings and cousins), MCU Exchange has provided an excellent infographic for our convenience. As for Woglom's mystery character, interestingly, she is said to be working at a private aerospace company, with a passion for all things space and lunar. This is a vague hint that the setting of the show would take place out of Earth, and perhaps on the Blue Side of the Moon. Could she be an important character from the comics too, then? That's certainly a possibility.
It's safe to say, that the hype level for the show just skyrocketed due to these announcements. For me personally, it's Lockjaw's inclusion as well as Moh's casting that basically sealed the deal. The moment I saw Moh's name, I think I nerded out, because I've been wanting to see him play a Marvel heroes. Sure, he'd make a far better Shang-Chi than Triton, who will be covered by scales and prosthetics throughout the show. And yes, he'd make a better Karnak too, since he's an actual martial art practitioner (in fact, I wonder why he's not switching role with Leung?). But the fact that he's a Marvel actor now, is enough to make me happy. Of course, it's when I read that the show will incorporate a 2000-pound giant mutt with the power of teleportation, that I basically lost it. After all, you simply can't have a faithful Inhuman show without Lockjaw!
Intriguingly, most if not all of the names in this cast are on a 'different' level than your average TV actors. If you pay attention, most of them have had big screen roles as well. Swan was in "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief" and "Tron: Legacy". Leung was recently in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens". Cornish was as suspected, the younger sister of movie actress Abbie Cornish. She has been a contender for "Transformers: Age of Extinction" before, but more importantly, she's also a "Home and Away" alumn, a.k.a the show that gave birth to lots of Hollywood big names such as... yes, Chris Hemsworth. Mount was in "Non-Stop" among many other titles. Ikwuakor and Moh mostly had roles in TV, but have been involved in big movie productions before. There has been a wide speculation that Marvel TV was looking for actors who could fit both mediums nicely, considering "The Inhumans" will have an exclusive 2-weeks IMAX debut before proceeding later on as an 8-episodes TV show on ABC. Clearly, this IS indeed the case, and I'm genuinely pleased. Speaking of IMAX debut, the theatre chain itself had announced via Twitter that the first two episode will arrive in one feature-length movie format on September 1st, 2017 (additional scenes will be added for the TV version). This practically confirmed previous report that it will debut on Labor's Day. That's only less than 6 months aways!
If there's any lingering question I have about this show, is how it will play out in the MCU. How significant it will be in the bigger picture. Remember, Marvel Studios had this as a movie planned for Phase 3 once, before "Homecoming" and the sequel of "Ant-Man" shuffled it away to 2019. Kevin Feige had since mentioned that there's still a plan for the movie in Phase 4, but then ABC and Marvel TV announced it a mini-series. Will the one produced by Marvel Studios be using the exact same cast to this one? Will fans' expectation to see Mount's Black Bolt as part of an Illuminati that consists of Robert Downey Jr., Benedict Cumberbatch, Chadwick Boseman, and others, exceeds more than just a wishful thinking? Or will... everyone be recast, similar to the fate Linda Louise-Duan who is not reprising her "Doctor Strange" role in the upcoming Marvel's "The Runaways". As great as these actors are, I doubt they have the high-profile needed to sell a high-budget movie version to a global audience. Which is why many have imagined the likes of Vin Diesel, Jessica Chastain, and other A-list actors in these roles instead. Technically, this show CARRIES the greatest potential to be an actual bridge between the TV and Movie side. But judging from the current situation between Marvel Studios and Marvel TV, it'll be far wiser to not get our hopes up too high. Yes, ABC is a network owned by Disney, but even the House of Mouse has no power to settle what's happening between the two divisions. Especially since both are reporting to a different boss *sigh*. Let's just hope for the best, shall we?
As for the other shows, it seems Marvel's "Cloak and Dagger" has wrapped production of its first episode. At the same time, "Runaways" is close to wrapping its in production, as some candid photos and videos have hit the internet from Long Beach's Ernest McBride High School. Despite the intention to keep things tightly kept in secrecy, eager fans will still find a way to get information anyway. THAT my friend, is how our internet works! LOL. Unfortunately, as great of an idea these two shows are, the chance of me watching both has only continued to wane. As I said, unless it's through illegal means (which is NOT recommended) I don't think I'm going to watch both. Why would I purchase a Hulu and Freeform account to watch one show, right? Looks like it's a good thing that my interest for "The Inhumans" has spiked enormously. In the end, that might be the only new Marvel show I'd be watching. Or is it? According to IMAX CEO Greg Foster, they are "already looking for a second series" to work with. Could we be seeing more Marvel shows with "The Inhumans" treatment then? That's a possibility...
Netflix
The 4th and final Defender's member so far, the last character that Marvel TV promised several years ago, will be upon us in just one week from now. Yes, Danny Rand will be debuting on Marvel's "Iron Fist" on March 17th, 2017. Hype is high, as well as expectations, and as I said, if the last trailer was any indication, then this is going to be an interesting show. At least for me personally.
Unfortunately, just two weeks before all episodes of the show is released worldwide, showrunner Scott Buck just had to 'run his mouth' and well... revealed something underwhelming. That's like... taking cues of DC Films for their impressive bad-marketing stunt. In this case, it's concerning Danny's iconic costume. Talking to Games Radar, Buck stated that fans should NOT hold their breath to see Finn Jones wearing one. In this show, that is. To be fair, the same thing happened on the first season of Marvel's "Daredevil", where it took 12 episodes before Charlie Cox' Matt Murdock consciously shifted from black beany to a specially crafted costume. So there's no reason for us to be shocked. Even so, this news was still disappointing to fans nonetheless. Why? Because every Netflix shows afterwards, had been real shy on implementing one. Marvel's "Jessica Jones" only revealed one just to make fun of it, and Marvel's "Luke Cage" only featured a very quick glimpse of one in its 4th episode. Both ended up serving as mere passing nods. That's why somehow, fans are expecting a change in this repetitive scenario. Because once, or the first time, is okay, but doing it again and again every year? That will get old real fast.
And yes, I do feel slightly disappointed with this. I mean, if anything, at least Danny should be wearing a similar attire to the one Matt wore in his series' first season. That's practically an all-black version of Iron Fist's attire, right? Many fans (through various fansites) have also pointed out one VERY logical thing. Similar to rich characters like Bruce Wayne, Oliver Queen, and others, Danny has a reputation he has to protect. He's the heir of a wealthy businessman. He OWNS a company, and is supposed to be its long-lost CEO. Can he damage such esteemed position by openly beating up thugs and evil henchmen as a vigilante, exposing himself to the world? Even Buck's statement contradicted this very issue: "There was no good reason we could imagine to put Danny Rand in a costume because Danny Rand is still discovering who he is as a hero and where he is going to be, so he’s not yet ready to put on a mask or a costume.". Eventhough he backtracked a bit by saying "At the same time he is someone who is rather well known as a billionaire, so he can’t necessarily go out in public and do the things he does without being recognized. It does become an issue for the character.". Seriously? THAT makes for a good reason, right? Let this sink in to your brain for a bit. Of course, Buck might simply be hinting at some surprises in store, that we can only learn by watching the series. So for now, let's just give this show the benefit of doubt.
Pocket Monsters
Still playing "Pokemon GO", eventhough the addition of Generation 2's species isn't as big as it should have been? Well, worry not, because according to John Hanke, more "major new releases" will arrive this year. Yes, and there are 3 of them too! Speaking in an App Convention, the Niantic boss confirmed that there are major quarterly updates being planned for their successful App this year. There aren't any official announcement about what they will be, but two of them might have already been revealed through interviews.
The first one, is 'Gym System Overhaul'. A statement that came straight from Hanke himself. I can't help but wonder what this means. To be frank, I've been hearing many complaints regarding the state of Pokemon GO's Gyms nowadays. Either it's becoming rather dull due to being monopolized by high-level players, or the fact that it now mostly consists of the same types and species over and over again. This isn't surprising, since several Pokemon like Vaporeon, Gyarados, Snorlax, and others have become the game's top-tiers. Hence, their presence on Gyms have not only become a norm, it's an underwhelming and annoying repetitive sight. No wonder many players have walked out because of it. I'm curious whether the App will eventually choose to go the Core Game route, by assigning fixed Pokemon on Gyms instead of letting players assign their own. But what about the battle part? Well, that's where... 'Battling' comes to play. Just imagine how the fanbase will react when they know they can do Pokemon Battle with other players. Won't that be a lot of fun?
The second update, is something I have long expected to arrive in the App. And what is that? 'Trading'. Yes, the ability to exchange Pokemon with other players. This is the exact reason why I speculated that a Battling feature might be coming as well. Because the ability of Trading, means there will be interaction between players in the App. After all, just the thought of seeing an alert with the tune of "There's another Player near you" is enough to thrill me! Tatsuo Nomura, the Senior Product Manager for Niantic has even confirmed that this Trading system "won’t be through the internet ...The person needs to be in your proximity". This is GREAT news. I've mentioned on my First Impression last year, that "Pokemon GO" has massive potential it can explore. Trading, which might trigger Battling, is one of its key social feature, and is a step to the right direction. Not only it will enhance gameplay, it will also enhance real-life social aspect of the game. I can already imagine players meeting new people, interacting, and develop a healthy community if not deeper relationship with one another. That's precisely what Niantic's earlier title "Ingress" has successfully accomplished, right? It has even spawned a bishoujo Manga! So just imagine what "Pokemon GO" could be when it can replicate the same feature. Fans are going to love it!
A quick disclaimer note, do mind that what I just said on the previous two paragraphs are combination of fact, and personal speculations. The Gym Overhaul and Trading are facts, albeit not yet officially announced, while the Battling and other bits are my own wishful thinkings. So until we hear actual confirmation to these features, take it with grains of salt. Oh, and by the way, included in the Hanke's statement, was a "systemic solution to spoofers". I can't really comment on this, because I'm not quite sure what it means. Mind you, I'm not THAT fluent on the gameplay, due to being a casual gamer. But of course, the general notion is, Niantic is hard at work to stop players from cheating on the game. And that's a good reassurance to existing players.
Sidetracking a bit, the first trailer for this year's movie have been officially released by The Pokemon Company. There are two versions, the normal-length and shorter one, but the content of both are practically the same. Serving as the 20th anniversary movie, "Gekijouban Pocket Monster, Kimi ni Kimeta!" is a retelling of Satoshi's first encounter with his most loyal and trusted companion, Pikachu. After seasons of TV series, and 19 movies, that had the pair travelling together with various other Pokemon and close friends, it's time to revisit the harsh and tumultous starting point between the two. A fated meeting that has evolved into a strong bond that inspires many Pokemon fans all around the world. The movie will premiere in Japan on July 15, 2017. Will you come to the theatres to see this nostalgic tale? I know I would I could...
Nintendo
Nintendo's new hybrid console, the Nintendo Switch has been released! Have you purchased one? In alternate universe where financial situation is not an issue, I would've already been playing one right now. Heck, I might have been among the line of those first queue to get my hands on one *sigh*. So yeah, despite my desire to own one, I have no choice but to wait until things are more... stable. It could happen in a few months, later this year, or even next year, only time will tell (and God knows when).
Response for the release has been generally positive. Including that ODD-sounding cartridge mouth-testing stunts everywhere. LOL. Yes, some folks are holding back until Switch has more exclusive titles like "Super Smash Bros", a core "Pokemon" title, or the likes, but many who has purchased one are pleased with its features. As well as its launch titles. "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" in particular, is an easy crowdpleaser. Fans of the franchise immediately fell in love with the game, calling it fun and amazing. In fact, IGN rewarded it with a full score of 10 on their review! Something that is rarely done by the Entertainment Site. Of course, with the good also comes the bad. Other title, like the much anticipated "1-2 Switch" didn't perform as successful as it's expected. Then again, you can't have it all, right?
Nevertheless, Reggie Fils-Aimé, the President of Nintendo America has conveyed his thankful message to all fans who have supported Nintendo by getting Switch. It remains to be seen whether Switch will stand strong amidst competition with bigger Ultra-HD consoles like Playstation 4 or Xbox One. Moreso the rumored high-tech Project Scorpio from Microsoft's front. There's always the possibility that Switch will end up suffering like its predecessor Wii U, and not gaining much love like the groundbreaking Wii. Let's just hope this hybrid console will bring Nintendo back to its prime.
For now, gamers can enjoy other available games like "Just Dance 2017", "Disgaea 5", "Othello", and others, while they wait for more titles to arrive throughout the year. One of it is "Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers" that will released on May 26 in Japan, North America, and Europe. It's a remake of the classic title, with new characters and bonus features. And that's just one of the Switch's upcoming title! Here's hoping it will be getting even broader titles in the future. Like that rumored "Pokemon Stars", perhaps? That would be super dope... :D
