montyyyyyy T^T just finished penumbra and my chest is ACHING im always in love with the way you characterize shouta and your writing always makes me feel like clutching my phone in longing but also kicky feet squealing on my bed- it’s a rollercoaster for sure hahaha

aside from the romance, im also so intrigued by reader’s, and im only assuming, your thoughts on the hero world in MHA?? made me pause and think at some points in the story like when reader was explaining her opinions in the cafe and also at the end when shouta was interrogating her. idk but the way you articulated some of the things like not having a good enough system and wanting the community just to feel safe really like hit home in a weird way? i work on the frontline with quite a vulnerable population and i feel like reader and i (wait aren’t i reader lmao) have the same thoughts on society and how they should be helping people instead of putting on a front sometimes- except i cannot legally throw on a sick suit and go at night to help out lmao

also loved that you managed to squeeze eri in hehe i just know later on she’d be walking out that cafe with Suzu swinging in her little arms and shouta following with Ren tucked into his scarf 😌

I was worried that he might seem ooc to some (esp if they didn’t read vigilantes) but he is canonically softer on them alongside the other rooftop four. though, admittedly, his behaviour is half to do with the fact that he’s fond of you lol. it was a lot of fun to play around with. ERIII of course I had plans to incorporate her a bit more but it would have thrown off the plot. I wish I’d included present mic somewhere in there as I’d planned to in the first draft too, but it was getting away from me 🫠

as for readers opinions, they do align with mine, but I did make a conscious effort to dilute them and try to write them in a way that was more… human? I didn’t want it to turn into a big political shpiel and feel as if I was shoving opinions down the actual readers (your) throat. I wanted it to have heart!!! truly I can imagine the frustration of living in a world like that. it is bad enough in this one lmfksmd

Kylo finds Hux sitting quietly in the living room, staring at the empty space in front of him. He hasn’t moved since Kylo left an hour ago to fetch groceries, still bunched up in the corner of the sofa, eyes red-rimmed and cheeks lined with tears.

It’s been a couple of days since beloved Millicent’s passing and the hole she has left in their lives cannot be measured in any way; Hux looks lost without her beside him. How does one cope with losing their shadow? It would seem they become the shadow themselves.

In his hands, he holds her collar. It’s red and regal, fitting for a cat of her beauty and elegance. He hasn’t set it down since they returned from the vets, clutching it tightly even when he’s in bed and sleep alludes him.

“Here,” Kylo says, approaching his husband with a cup of tea in his favourite china mug. “You need to drink.”

But Hux says nothing, keeping his gaze locked on the floor, fiddling with the tag on the collar and making it jangle; a familiar noise that echoed throughout their home whenever Millicent was on the prowl.

Kylo sighs, sitting down on the couch and tapping Hux’s leg. “Armitage.”

“Hm?” Hux blinks, seemingly emerging from his memories with a shudder. “Oh. Tea. Yes. Thank you, Ren.”

He takes the cup in one hand, making sure to keep hold of Millie’s collar in the other. He takes a single sip before leaning over the side of the couch to set it down on the nearby coffee table though he freezes before he gets back up.

“Oh,” he sighs, picking up a little squishy mouse toy from the floor. “This blasted thing. The amount of times I tripped over it or hoovered it up. And she still loved it, she still took it into her bed every night.”

“It was the first thing I bought her when we got together,” Kylo says, smiling.

Hux huffs in a chuckle, wiping away a falling tear, “She hated you.”

“I was taking some of your attention from her. I should have expected that there’d be some animosity,” Kylo says, stroking his hand over Hux’s leg. “I tried to buy her affection.”

“It worked,” Hux replies. “I’ve never seen her love someone like she loved you. Besides me, of course.”

Kylo hums in agreement; what an honour it was to be loved by such a beautiful creature.

“I suppose…I don’t need these anymore,” Hux says, voice breaking as sobs take over. He clutches the collar and the toy mouse close to his chest, biting his shaking lip but the onslaught of tears is here, his pain is too much.

“You don’t have to get rid of anything, sweetheart,” Kylo says, sliding his arms around Hux’s waist and pulling him into his arms. Hux welcomes the comfort and allows himself to be engulfed in his husband’s embrace. “You have to let yourself grieve, let yourself cry. It’s okay, it’s okay, I promise.”

“I miss her,” Hux cries, his cheek pressed against Kylo’s check, his tears wetting his black shirt. “I miss her so much.”

“I know,” Kylo replies quietly, pressing a kiss to the top of his beloved’s head. “I do too. You made her so happy, Hux.”

“She made me happy too.”

“And she loved you. I didn’t know humans and cats could have such a strong bond until I met the two of you. She was your little shadow, huh?”

Hux manages to smile, “Everywhere I went, she’d be there.

Kylo gives him another kiss, “And that isn’t going to change, Armitage. She’s still with you, still following you. You meant so much to each other that nothing can part you, not even this. Millicent is right here, I can feel it.”

“I know you like to think of yourself as psychic, Ren, but you aren’t,” Hux laughs, then sighs as his shoulders slump. In his hands, he still holds Millicent’s collar and toy. “Thank you, Kylo.”

They break the embrace for a moment to allow Kylo to wipe the tears from Hux’s face with his sleeve. Reaching for each other’s hands, Kylo grabs on tightly, feeling tears pricking in his own eyes.

“I made a promise to her when I first met you that I’d take care of you. I think she believed me. And I won’t disappoint her.”

Hux smiles, bringing the collar up to his lips to give it a gentle kiss.

Somewhere across the apartment, Kylo hears a faint but happy meow.

As you were walking through Inazuma you were holding Kazuha’s hand, waving to the other locals. When you arrived at the restaurant, Kazuha led you upstairs and asked what you wanted. “Hmm- maybe some fried tofu, tricolor dango, and green tea!” You say excitedly. It was rare to actually go on a date with Kazuha, sure you went boating or went on a walk under the cherry blossoms but this was different. When Kazuha came back with the food, he had brought your food and a bowl of ramen for himself. (I DONT CARE IF THEY DONT SELL IT, IM NOT SURE BUT THEY DO NOW👹)

“Itadakimasu~” you both say in unison before eating. (It means ty for the food in Japanese, thts a rough translation) As Kazuha was eating his ramen he looked so happy. “Heeey~ can I have a bite?” You poke his cheek with your finger. “Yemg-“ he tries saying with his mouth full. As he puts chopsticks up to your mouth you can see he’s adverting his eyes, his cheeks dusted with a cherry blossom pink blush. “Mmh~ hehe delicious!”

After leaving Uyuu restaurant, you left to go and visit Kazuha’s dear friend Tomo.

Kazuha had brought a Katsu sandwich and a small flask of sake (sah-kay). “Oh dear Tomo-“ Kazuha kneels before his friends sword and vision. He silently had started praying, just as he did every day he could.

As you started your way back to your home in Ritou you could feel Kazuha trembling. “H-hey? Kazu? Are you ok?” You ask him squeezing his hand a little tighter. “Ye-yeah, I’m fine!” He stammered out, he seemed to be lost in thought, and you startled him.

“Hmm- ok.” You say, very skeptically.

When you arrived at your home

Kazuha walked to your room and sat on your bed, you followed him. “I’m gonna go change real quick be right back~” you said, kissing his cheek. Before you could walk away, he grabbed your wrist, stopping you. “P-please stay..” Kazuha says, tearing up.

“Awee~ baby no!” You say, sitting down on the bed next to him, sitting your back against the pillows and letting him sit between your legs. (Not smutty yet you horny bastard)
