seriously though, thank you for this ask. mim isn't a character i think about a lot, and i didn't have much of opinion on him because i wasn't sure how to interprete him. blame children of hurin really

the thing about his portrayal is - the things the narrative tells us differ drastically from what it shows to us. it tells us mim is sly and cowardly and ugly, but shows us the death of his son and his grief. it tells us he is evil because he plans to harm turin and beleg, but shows us he lives in a dead city (that was once booming with life) that turin and beleg are currently occupying without showing much respect for its history and legacy (aside from maybe turin?). so it places him in the shoes of antagonist while also actively painting him as an anti-hero who just lost his son to the people he's forsed to house, and who is the last left of his kin.

this, i think, makes mim a tragic character, and adds a whole new layer to turin, beleg, and their company. this also makes it hard for me to blame him for wanting to get rid of them or disliking him for his mannerisms, schemes and everything else. out of all characters of the silm, mim is the one who has the most right for murder considering situation he got thrown into

so yeah. i think he's a tragic character who deserved better and who got done dirty by the narrative.

Part One

May 20th. Tony gets a taste of American life as the boys trek through the strange landscape that is Virgina on their quest to find help to change the spell. Between culture shock, nostalgia, and the curse's grip on Tony; the first leg of their trip is a complicated one.

Dated May 27th during the events of prom. Ian and Tony have returned from their American adventure to attempt the spell to undo Tony's curse with the hopes that it will give the spell time to settle before graduation. This does not go quite as they expected.

my current wip is a prequel for demon hunter au! there’s three plot lines: zephyr solving a murder mystery, harriet forming her crew, and magnus and maddy running away from home. harriet and the mim’s plots fully intersect by the end, zephyr’s sort of does but not fully until book one proper.

i don’t think i have a favorite character i’ve ever written. honestly my favorite character changes so much.

why would you make me choose. i love them all. but if i had to pick, probably zephyr or magnus.

like. probably only 1000 words top. i have the first two scenes written out. i have part of a timeline and vague ideas for the rest, but i’ve been a doing a lot of isle worldbuilding. and also i just haven’t had time to write.

my fandom bang wip lmao. i plan to start it this weekend.

technically there’s multiple main characters, but i’ll answer for zephyr. who’s afraid of little old me and golden weather by citizen soldier.

for magnus, probably monster by imagine dragons

would definitely like to kill magnus and maddy’s brother. unfortunately someone needs to cause issues.

i think most of my characters are lab experiments at some point. whoopsies.

Mimming from Singapore

A couple months ago I received an email from Mimming's person in Singapore. Mimming is an almost 40 year old teddy bear, and she's been very well loved... and hugged.

This is what Mimming looked like when she was young:

And this is what she looked like at the start of 2023:

As you can see, she lost a lot of weight and fur from hugs over the years. Her eyes have cataracts (you'll see those better later), her nose is dangling due to muzzle shrinkage, and she has some pretty significant wounds she usually keeps under her shirt. But she's still a very cuddly bear with an endearing expression.

Her person was hoping to get Mimming recovered in new fur, so she could be hugged and have adventures for at least 40 more years. A new nose and new eyes were under consideration, and we agreed starting with a spa (especially since her stuffing was so compressed, was probably in order. So... Mimming found a flight with her buddy Little Mimming to keep her company (you'll see her later) and headed across the Pacific to CA. While Mimming is well travelled, this was a first solo Pacific flight, and so it was bit scary, hence the company. It actually took less than a week for her to arrive!

She started with her bubble bath, that way new fur would match her cleaned fur color.

You can see her cataracts, particularly in her right eye, and how loose and chipped her nose is here.

Next was deciding if she would get a new nose and eyes, or keep her originals. Turns out, there were many nose options. Smooth like nose, flocked/velvety, size differences:

Her person opted for a new, velvety, triangular nose. For her eyes, there was really only one option, new or not. I can usually get pretty good color matches, but Mimming's eyes had also faded, so new eyes would be a touch brighter. Once eyes or a nose come out, they can't go back in, and with recovering it's best to remove them before recovering, so this was a decision that needed to be made before fur choice. Here's the eye option next to her original eye:

Mimming's person opted for two new eyes. We agreed to preserve her old eyes and nose in her heart with a bit of her stuffing. But first, she needed new fur. Here were some of the white fur options:

Mimming's person went with the thick white faux fur, and surgery proceeded. For her brown patch, I had furs to match all of the white fur options, so we were all set there.

And here are the first photos of Mimming in all new fur. She still has open seams, so her chubbiness can be adjusted:

While she sits naturally like in her baby photos, she can also lay flat like she could when she arrived. Chubbiness approved, Mimming got dressed and went outside for a photo shoot. She was well traveled, but had never been to California, and she wanted some photos as souvenirs. Little Mimming joined her for the photo shoot (those were the first tulips of the season):

And those adorable knitted overalls? Those are Mimming's regular travel clothes that she arrived in. Good thing that knit stretches. I particularly liked the little teddy bear buttons to hold the straps.

Mimming and Little Mimming flew home and again, it was a fast trip, just 5 days! Here they are safe and sound, albeit a little jet lagged, with their friends:

I got bit by the succession OC bug and I couldn’t stop thinking abt how insane it was that Stewy almost had a daughter in the script, and then I was like….what if he did….have a daughter. Then I went blind and passed out and woke up and she was in my tablet.

Her name is Iasmim “Mim” Cardoso and she’s the product of a summer fling in Portugal w the daughter of an Angolan politician/oil profiteer. They have a polite non-relationship where Mim lives w her mom (she doesn’t. She’s shipped off to some Swiss Catholic all girls school) and in exchange for his minimal involvement she spends her summers w “dad”. It’s all very non involved. If the lack of his last name doesn’t make that apparent.

She’s an utterly rancid girl who doesn’t strive for much at all or wishes prove anything, and is content w immediate pleasures. Her hobbies are sucking fucking and seething. But she mostly keeps to herself. Her relationship w stewy is impersonal and polite but completely strained. He’s so upfrontly non parental she doesn’t feel like it’s worth hating him for it. She DOES blame him for her features are too big for her face, she hates him for that, making her uglier than she could be.. She never bothers for plastic surgery, the hate is fufilling. She has a clit piercing.

Also thank you THANK YOU @shivroy my sweet beloved friend who I love for letting me talk your ear off abt my girl. And doubly thank you for these awesome drawings of her. And TRIPLE THANK YOU, for creating Hibs and letting me have so much fun drawing him and us making them insane little freakazoid animals circling each other in our minds.
