Okay I was gonna come into your inbox and thank you for always adding image descriptions to things, and I thought I'd be cute and come in here and call you my beloved mutual in Italian cuz I know that one, but then I remembered Italian doesn't have neutral genders. How would I refer to you in third person besides pronouns? Like, I don't want to call you mio amato or mia amata, what would work? Mia(o)? Mi@? Miao? Should I make cat sounds at you????

First of all, absolutely yes make cat sounds at me and I'll make them back (does this qualify me as a 'meow meow'? unə miao miao?) There's been a lot of discussion about this, especially bc you can't just use e like in Spanish bc Italian already uses that as the feminine plural. but! People have started using the schwa (ə) as a gender neutral ending (es. miə amatə , and I have also seen this written with a 3 (es. mi3 amat3). Which I think is also singular, but if I am wrong I fully invite someone who actually speaks the language to correct me!

Admittedly, I do not know how to say 'mutual' in Italian the way we say it in English (which is honestly a skill issue on my part bc I do follow multiple Italian-speaking tumblr users!) Also happy to help describe! Can I call you 'beloved mutual' also?
