i guess this is a rec list of stuff i liked in 2024?? no particular order, i just wanted to yak about some things i had a good time with.
bang brave bang bravern: maybe this isn't a legit comparison but i keep thinking of it as "what if samurai flamenco had a significantly tighter story (tomokazu sugita is also there)". if you like giant robots, you might like this. if you like a completely straight-faced commitment to the extremely funny bit of contrasting hard military scifi with the absurdity of classic giant robots, you might like this. if you're interested in sugita playing a robot who's a bottom, and also there's a lot of gay shit and the earnest power of true love, you might like this!
digimon story cyber sleuth & hacker's memory: a really fun set of turn-based jrpgs. cyber sleuth took me a while to warm up to (the localization could be better, to put it generously), but i came to enjoy its slightly offbeat sense of humor. hacker's memory, otoh, i loved from the start. it does a great job showing how cyber sleuth's story beats happened in parallel while still keeping the focus on a fantastic new cast and their own plotlines. the first game is a more standard digimon story about saving the world, while hacker's memory widens the perspective and shows a bit of the systems at play in the background. just a super satisfying game on every level for me.
shin godzilla: personally i love logging off work and my many meetings and watching a movie about a guy who has to go to even more meetings. i'm kidding, this was really fun (on account of all the meetings). i'll get to his kamen rider and ultraman movies too at some point.
gilgamesh (gardner & maier, also the david ferry version): paying my respects to the original yaoi 🫡
judgment: i wanted to try a rgg game without committing to playing 8 of them in order. turns out this is a perfect standalone game. it's such a tightly written story and character study, and it's really fun to play. kimutaku is so good at playing yagami so low-key, so tamped down, that when he explodes you really feel how angry he's been all along. the english cast is also great -- i enjoyed greg chun's take on yagami as well. (i played lost judgment too but wasn't quite so high on it. alas)
siren: watched sgf's excellent lp and loved this horror stealth game. the motion-capture work for the faces is a pretty cool workaround for the rendering limitations at the time while adding to the off-kilter vibe. i'm also a huge sucker for when studios lean into mixed media and use photos of real props (magazines, IDs in wallets, letters, etc) in their games. the story is kinda obtuse – and literally requires you to read extra official content to get some of the answers – but for something with such vague, stilted cutscenes with equally vague and stilted dialogue, especially with the added layer of a classic ps2-era english dub, i became attached to the entire cast stuck in this extremely bleak and scary scenario. i guess the best way i can sum it up is that it's a game that knows exactly how to play you.
digital devil saga 2: finished right before the world is actually set to end in 2025 in the game lol. it's so good!! i'm grateful that even after all this time, i managed to go into this mostly blind, because the way the plot reveal recontexualizes so much about the first game and the absolute rank relationship dynamics between some of the characters just blew me away. probably has some of my favorite character designs of all time, and i also think it's sooo fun to play thanks to my having turn-based long jrpg brain sickness. such an all-timer of a duology.
nine sols: i'm still not done with it on account of it being a parry-focused metroidvania and me sucking shit at both platforming and parrying, but it's great! it feels so confidently produced, kinda wild considering how different it is from their previous two games, devotion and detention (both of which i also highly recommend). the art and design work are beautiful, and i'm really enjoying how bleak the plot is. you can tell they made two horror games before this lol. i also love story mode. thank you, story mode.
風林火山韻雷 -bring it back-: lmao. anyway, it's a super fun song and mv that packs in everything i like about akyr (mixing traditional with modern both in the song and the imagery, high energy, everyone's great ofc but takayuki kondo especially killing it with that bridge, akyr making aggro songs about murdering their enemies).

I wanted to make this little comic about Lukas’s and Python’s A-support ❤️💙
I remember listening it for the first time and being completely charmed by Lukas being vulnerable and Python supporting him in his own snarky way
And here is a video with the voices. I want to thank Greg Chun & Doug Erholtz for doing a phenomenal job at voicing Lukas and Python respectively. You both brought these characters to life and cemented them as some of my fav characters in the whole series ❤️💙

I know people have been recommending you yakuza but if you’re more into murder mysteries (and detective shit in general) I’d recommend Judgment! It’s from the same universe as the yakuza series but you don’t need to know anything about them. The main protagonist is even voiced by Greg Chun lol, and the game starts with murder where the victim got his eyes gouged out
(Tumblr kept crashing so i don’t know if this ask was sent or not, sorry if you got this ask like 3 times :’))
just now seeing this but thank u for the rec! murder mysteries are definitely more my current thing so i'll add it to the list

hiii eugene if i could ask .. which ike in feh is ur favorite ike ? whether its based off of art alone, or his lines, or just the concept itself (i know that valentines ike is based off of PoR's design, but his floral sword is probably one of my fav weapon designs, for example) ? i just love hearing ppl talk abt their opinions on gacha units of their loves LOL (@dmclr)
UWAAAAAAAAAAA HI HI CLARA THANK U FOR THE ASK!!! ok sorry i'm normal. i'm SO normal
i'd say that my top faves are emblem ike and fallen ike... i do like the contrast they have with each other, it scratches the itch in my brain soso good you know! ALSO I DO AGREE ABT VAL!IKE'S SWORD, it's soso pretty! it has an elegance that i'm not used to seeing on him and i love it!!
when it comes to emblem ike, apparently the summoner is able to touch him when it was impossible in elyos... which has opened some new ideas to me and i'm indulging soso hard. he can have all the meat dishes he wants AND. and all the cuddles if he wants....
as for fallen it's less the art (though it's SO good i LOVE his normal atk art) but the way that he's portrayed. greg chun slayed so hard with the voice-acting and i just AOUGGHAAA i love his character in general. he's holding himself together so well (esp as someone who'd touched the medallion and he isn't as attuned to order as his sister mist) and i just.... it gets me thinking. would he be okay if my summoner were to hold him? would it calm him down?
tldr these ikes give me so many ideas im just so... AAAAA

HEY HELP PLEASE- SHOULD I PLAY JUDGEMENT WITH ENGLISH VOICES OR JAPANESE?????? BOTH SOUND SEGGSY AND SWAG, PLEASE AND THANK YOU 🙏🙏😩💕💕💕
Not to sound like a weeb, I swear I’m not, but I gotta vote for the Japanese voices here. Personally, I’m not really a fan of the English direction 😅 And like, as much as I like Greg Chun, he played one of my favorite characters in the Ghost of Tsushima Iki Island story, Kimura Takuya’s voice is so smoky and nice and I really think his line delivery and characterization fits so much better with Yagami’s character (and not just because they have the same face 😂). And I dunno, it felt weird for me to do the first playthrough of an RGG game in anything other that Japanese, too. Like for me personally lol
But! You can always go back and play it again in the other language, too! Or do what I did and watch the cutscenes again in English after finishing the game lol. Either way, I hope you enjoy it!!!!! They’re SUCH good games and I’m excited for you to experience them!! ❤️❤️❤️

AU:
Mitsu Yagami (OC):

hmm, since I'm always asking about Faye, how about you do the RGB trio (Lukas, Forsyth, Python) for the ask game instead?
Heck yeah, the technicolor trio!
First impression: I glossed over them in my first playthrough. I used Lukas a bit in the first chapters but then dropped him because he was slow and 4 movement is horrible, I didn't use Forsyth for that same reason and Python... do I even need to say it?
Impression now: Genuinely some of the best characters, you can thank @good-beans for helping me reconsider them a lot. They're so good on their own but even better together, especially with the Rise of the Deliverance content! (Python's supports with Lukas and Clive are especially top notch, can't believe a character said both aro rights and fuck the monarchy in FE) Honestly it's a bit wild that they're so fleshed out for characters that don't even play that big a role in the story after Act 1!
Favorite moment: For Lukas it's either his rebuttal at Fernand or the scene where he saves the Deliverance by taking the Rigelian civilians hostage in the DLC (But also you could argue every moment he talks becuse Greg Chun's voice is ✋😔👌)
For Forsyth it's definitely his support with Python where he keeps bickering with him... and his post-battle quote if Python dies. The way he initially thinks he's just loafing around but then slowly realizes what happened and he calls for Python again in an incredulous manner...😭
For Python his support with Clive, full stop. Clive already gets called out on his biases and prejudices by Alm a fair bit in the story, but Python chews him out hard on those while also taking potshots at monarchy as a system. Really, Python is based af
Idea for a story: At the moment I've got nothing, sorry
Unpopular opinion: Well, I guess it's that they deserve more appreciation? Haven't heard much about them besides here on Tumblr
Favorite relationship: With each other obviously! Forsyth and Python are definitely gay for each other, and I do love the idea of Lukas being in a QPR with both!
That said, I do have a soft spot for Python/Silque as a rarepair, I just think it's cute.
Favorite headcanon: A slightly angsty headcanon I have is that Lukas is secretly deeply freaked out by Witches because they remind him too much of himself.
Forsyth eventually succeeds Clive as the captain of the Zofian knights, and he's obviously thrilled by it.
Modern AU Python would work as a coder because haha programming joke, but also he would definitely form or at least join a union.
Also the job he has after Echoes is both because he wanted to do something that was actually useful, but also give him plenty of time to slack off.
The trio still sees each other, and often Forsyth and Python visit Lukas at his school.

Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous Season 3 Easter Eggs and References
https://ift.tt/3uaFO0z
This article contains spoilers for Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous Season 3.
The third season of the Netflix and DreamWorks animated series Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous pits the teenaged main characters against the Scorpius rex, a hybrid dinosaur like nothing they’ve ever dealt with before. They successfully defeat her, while simultaneously thwarting an attempt by Dr. Henry Wu to retrieve his research on the hybrids and dealing with the emotional impact of leaving their new found family.
This season has a good amount of references to the rest of the franchise, like we have come to expect from the show, and in the final seconds teases the possibility of a fourth season. Here are some notable Easter eggs and other references to the Jurassic World and Jurassic Park canon.
The Helicopter
In Camp Cretaceous season 1, which took place concurrently with Jurassic World, we saw Simon Masrani’s helicopter crash into the aviary from the point of view of our camp fam, instead of Owen Grady and Claire Dearing (Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard) as shown in the movie. Season three of Camp Cretaceous continues to show us events from the movies from another perspective, as the story overlaps with the beginning of Fallen Kingdom.
Yes, it’s been six months since the Jurassic World incident stranded our group of teenagers on the island, as we find out from the pilot of one of the helicopters that arrive near the end of the season. Unfortunately, they aren’t the rescue team the kids have been hoping for. They’ve come to find the remains of the Indominus rex and extract DNA.

Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous Season 2 Ending Explained
By Jennifer Lee Rossman
In one harrowing scene, Rexy the Tyrannosaurus pursues a man dangling from one of the helicopters. He gets away, but his relief is short-lived when the park mosasaur leaps out of the water and devours him. If that scene gives you a sense of déjà vu, that’s because it takes place in the opening minutes of Fallen Kingdom, only this time we get to see it from the perspective of Darius, Brooklynn, and Yaz. Even though we didn’t see them in the movie, these kids were never far from the action. (And may have even caused it in this particular instance; Rexy was only in that area because she had been chasing after the kids.)
While that may be the most obvious connection to the timeline of the movies, the rest of the season has its fair share of references and homages.
Scorpius rex
Last season, the kids discovered a mysterious experiment known only as E750, which escaped her cryogenic chamber during the cliffhanger finale. This season, we get to meet her: Scorpius rex, an unstable and unpredictable hybrid made by none other than Dr. Henry Wu (played by BD Wong in the movies and voiced by Greg Chun in Camp Cretaceous).
She’s big, she’s bad, she’s covered in poisonous spikes, and she may be the most dangerous dinosaur on the island. Oh, and did I mention she can reproduce asexually?
Just like in Jurassic Park, when it is revealed that the dinosaurs can change their sex thanks to the frog DNA the scientists used to fill in the sequence gaps, our terrifying tree climbing friend Scorpius has developed the ability to produce offspring all on her own. (You go, girl. You’re a modern woman, you can juggle being a single mother and having a career screwing up ecosystems!)
Blue
Dr. Wu isn’t the only character from the movies who makes an appearance in this season of Camp Cretaceous. Blue, the sole member of the Velociraptor pack to survive the Jurassic World incident, crosses paths with the kids a few times.
Blue previously battled the Indominus rex in Jurassic World, and later takes on the Indoraptor near the end of Fallen Kingdom, but it turns out those weren’t her only experiences fighting hybrid dinosaurs. While I wouldn’t say she and the campers necessarily trust one another, Darius does save her life when she becomes trapped under a vehicle, and there is an uneasy alliance after that. Sort of an “enemy of my enemy” situation, with them having a similar goal to defeat the Scorpius rexes. (Scorpiuses rex?)
It would also appear that Blue and the other raptors, along with their trainer Owen Grady (Chris Pratt), might have been a little bit famous before the fall of the park, at least in dinosaur nerd circles. How else would Darius know how to mimic the nonverbal signals used by Owen to communicate with the raptors?
The Kitchen
While trying to get a compass back from the Compsognathus that stole it, the kids stumble upon the original Jurassic Park, which is rumored to be either haunted or cursed by the spirit of John Hammond (Richard Attenborough). And of course, no visit to Jurassic Park is complete without a trip to the visitor center. Nature has taken over the iconic building where we first met Mr. DNA, and where the first of many dramatic showdowns between Tyrannosaurus and Velociraptor marked the dénouement of the first film. Ferns and vines have turned the center into something resembling a greenhouse, and the Compies have built nests on old scaffolding and near the atrium ceiling.
And then, of course, there’s the kitchen.
When one of the Scorpius girls follows the kids into the visitor center’s kitchen, you can’t help but be reminded of Tim and Lex (Joseph Mazzello and Ariana Richards) hiding from the raptors in the first Jurassic Park movie. References to that scene abound, most noticeably the dinosaur’s breath fogging up the round window in the door, but this isn’t just an Easter egg hunt. Rather, the scene parallels the original to show the differences between the clever raptors and the… not so clever Scorpius.
The original raptors are careful, methodical, as they stalk John Hammond’s grandchildren through the kitchen. They move with a purpose that shows us just how intelligent they are.
Scorpius Rex, on the other hand, can’t open the door handle and chooses instead to just bash through it like the chaotic neutral she is. Less of an apex predator and more of a panicking cat with a balloon static electricity’d to her butt, Scorpius is still dangerous, perhaps even more so because she is unpredictable.
At the end of the scene, in one final blink and you’ll miss it nod to the original, an instantly recognizable soup ladle is one of several kitchen utensils sent flying through the air. The season ends with most of the storylines wrapped up and the kids seemingly on their way to safety on a boat headed for Costa Rica. Except… remember the door handle in the kitchen? Turns out, boats have the same handles, and one of them is jiggling in that distinctive raptor way.
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
Do we have a stowaway? We’ll find out if we get a fourth season.
Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous season 3 is available to stream on Netflix now.

For someone out of the loop, can you give a quick recap of the current affairs of official Detective Conan dubbing? I heard rumblings of a dub of Zero Enforcer but to my knowledge that aired once at a convention and was never released. Now I hear there will be a official dub release of the TV movie “Episode One”? Thank you for being a continued source of Conan information. It’s been over a decade and I still haven’t caught up to the current stuff but your blog has been a valuable road map!
Thank you for the compliment!
Okay, so here’s the gist from what I understand.
Bang Zoom! Entertainment has made an English dub version of Movie 22, Zero the Enforcer, and the Episode “One”: The Great Detective Turned Small TV special.
Bang Zoom’s dub of Movie 22 seems to have first appeared in the UAE, airing in cinemas beginning November 29, 2018. The movie’s US premiere was at Anime Expo 2019.
The English cast known for Movie 22 was:
Wendee Lee - Conan
Cristina Vee - Ran
Erica Mendez - Haibara
Erika Harlacher - Mitsuhiko
Xander Mobus - Kogoro
Rachel Robinson - Sayoko Iwai (movie only character)
Cherami Leigh, Greg Chun, Griffin Burns, Jason C. Miller, Kyle McCarley, Michael Sorich, and Richard Epcar played roles as well, according to AnimeNewsNetwork.com, but I’m not sure at the moment as to what characters they played.
Bang Zoom’s dubs use the original Japanese names and not the Americanized names that FUNimation were told to use when they originally dubbed the series. (i.e. Shin’ichi Kudo, not Jimmy Kudo.)
It looks like at least for the Episode “One” Blu-ray release, they are using the “Case Closed” title instead of “Detective Conan”, presumably due to continuing legal considerations. (*-stares at Conan the Barbarian-*)
For those curious, Episode “One” Blu-ray is available for preorder on Rightstuf here!: https://www.rightstufanime.com/Case-Closed-Episode-One-Blu-ray

I actually really like that Fallen Banner ! It's pretty neat !
- First M!Corrin, it was kinda confirmed we'd get him but good for him. I like his face.
- Lyon ! His artwork is very cool, can't wait to see the full version of it. Also "Gehahahahahaha".
- Julia ? Julia ! I don't think Julia gets like this at some point in her canon but hey I love fallen Julia. I might try to summon her.
- Berserker Ike from Cipher. My favorite of the banner in all honesty. First of all he proves we could get other alts from the ciphers like Risen King Chrom or Berserker Wrys. Second of all his artwork is very neat. Third of all and final reason I love him : Greg Chun sounds super scary and I live for it.
- No 4* focus... That's a bit mean Intsys, give us a good demote for once !
- And the GHB is Ashnard. It's cool for Tellius Fans, not so cool for Soren.
It's a great banner and I hope we'll get more like this ! I hope you fav get in heroes !
(Fallen Miriel tho)
EDIT : I have been informed that Fallen! Julia is actually canon. Thanks everyone !

Hey Beans, have you seen the video of Greg Chun reading a cheesecake recipe?
I have thank you
It has brought me so much entertainment, made me fall even more in love with both him and Lukas, as well as fueled the part of me that exaggerates the canon fact that Lukas likes sweets...
Greg Chun really did that for us and I am indebted to him.
Really, though, no other voice actors I know just up and recorded a sexy asmr of baking... Although it may not have been on purpose omg -- in the interview I was watching he literally said he's had multiple directors tell him to tone down the sexiness in his voice because he didn't realize he was speaking like that 😂😂😂
If you haven't seen it I highly recommend it
