happy ww, z! i'm gonna throw your question back at you, because it's a fabulous one and i'm very curious about the answer: what are some things that *you* love that you think Sam/Dean would like too?

happy wincest wednesday with the uno reverse card! hmm -- this is actually pretty hard, haha, because I try to resist this as much as I can when I'm writing... but hell, let's do it:

music: I still think Sam basically doesn't like music. Sorry. I mean he's not like a superfreak, of course there are songs he likes more or less than others, plus he's got that whole weird 80s glam thing he's apparently into, but -- I think generally speaking it would not *occur* to Sam to put music on most of the time, he's not searching it out, etc etc. Music is Dean's sphere. So, related to that, (self-indulgence projection time) I think that Dean might have liked the early 90s grunge scene more than he might have let on. It's easy to have him say 'ugh, those dudes are all whining about their feelings -- what are they, chicks?' -- and he may have legit thought that about Kurt Cobain, lol -- but some of the heavier Pearl Jam/Alice in Chains/Soundgarden/Mudhoney songs might have pulled him in when they played on the radio, and then he might have found himself singing along to lyrics that weren't just fast car/pussy magnet etc but something like something's gotta turn out right, and... He had a lot of reasons to love grunge in the early 90s, let's just say that, lol.

books: I think Sam read a SHITLOAD of crappy fantasy novels with those gleaming-tattered covers as a kid. I mean, he was gonna read the Game of Thrones books -- that's clue enough. David Eddings, Anne McCaffrey, the whole shebang. And even when he got a little older and realized how many of them were basically copy-paste trope adventures, I think he still really loved them because they were... simple, and the monsters got dealt with, and magic helped, and the day was saved. (This is the same reason Dean loves action movies.) ((Here I guess I will tack on my Dean-and-reading headcanon, though it's not a z-projection: much as music is Dean's sphere, Dean feels that academics/reading is Sam's sphere, and he's specifically a little embarrassed to read for fun, which is specifically why Sam's always surprised when Dean mentions reading something at all -- so, he also reads, but mostly only when he's alone, and what he reads is stuff that has strong emotional utility -- aka westerns and poppy sci-fi and easy murder mysteries and romance novels. He wants a day to be saved, too.))

movies: idk if this counts as projection because I think it's pretty borne out by canon, but both Sam and Dean love the whole range of 70s-80s comedies that came out when they were kids and they can quote large chunks of them. Mel Brooks, Harold Ramis, National Lampoon, old SNL Best Ofs they put out on VHS, etc -- this is the language that wraps around how Dean talks, and even if Sam doesn't drop lines as much he understands the context and meaning whenever Dean does and it doesn't even count, really, as joking when they do it -- it's just how words work. It's good to be the king. Cheeburgah cheeburgah cheeburgah. When someone asks you if you're a god, you say YES. (that last one would come in handy with Jack.)

Alex, Luke, and Reggie all have a way of latching onto things. Julie’s known this since day one, when they first dropped into her life and started incessantly following her around. Not that they can help it. It’s part of who they are. Built into their physiology.  

Something they have continuously tried to explain to her, despite how much she refuses to listen or believe it. Isn’t like they look all that inhuman. Even after the worldwide reveal and attempts of intergalactic peace talks a part of her still doesn’t want to believe their extraterrestrial nature.

Regardless, there is absolutely no denying how quickly and devotedly they form attachments. With each other. With her family. With her.  Even with the various hobbies they’ve each picked up.

Julie has known all of this. Was there to witness most of these attachments form and develop. Still…

Knowing doesn’t stop her automatic smile every time she gets the chance to perform with them and sees how excited they look to be performing with her. Knowing doesn’t stop the weird internal acrobatics her insides fly into whenever she sees Reggie’s developed another batch of pictures, over half of which are of her. Knowing doesn’t stop the way her heart flutters and her face heats up when Luke eagerly wants to show her the latest song he’s written, insisting it’s perfectly written with her in mind.

It’s just how they are, she continuously reminds herself. An effort aided in the way Reggie follows her dad around almost as much as her. By how much time Luke spends, perfectly content just reading and listening and learning about music.

And now, listening to Alex ceaselessly gush about Willie. It nearly cements every doubt she’s ever had. Afterall, she’s never heard any of them gush about her like that. Even tries to use it as teasing fodder.

“Wow, Alex.” She laughs, still unable to contain that fondness they manage to bring out of her. “You must really be crushing on this guy. Don’t think I’ve ever heard any of you talk about anyone this much.”

“Really?” Alex’s brows furrow in confusion. And she’s really hoping that she’s not going to have to explain the concepts of the different types of attraction with them right now. Knowing the conversation would somehow turn back to her. Which just makes Alex’s next words all the more disarming.

“Luke and Reggie constantly talk like this about you.”

Okay, so my two favourite artists would probably be Linkin Park and BTS, for very similar close-to-my-heart reasons. And since they are WILDLY different sound-wise, I will give you two different fruit salads hehehe

First, the fruits!

Orange 🍊 -> obvious choice, zesty and sweet, brings everyone together with its juice; a refreshing favourite

Apple 🍎 -> solid, classic, reliable ; probably an oldie throwback

Mango 🥭 -> smooth, sexy lady with a groove; perhaps slightly unexpected

Strawberry 🍓 -> tangy, slightly acidic; a bittersweet one

Grapes 🍇 -> underrated bops bursting with flavour once you give them a try; a fun one

Melon 🍈 -> my favourite fruit so my personal favourite

🍊 In The End - the song that gets everyone turned up, she's the mainstream queen for a reason!!

🍎 Numb - had to get this one here as well because, really, you can't leave it out

🥭 Lost In The Echo - Living Things is a very important album to me (and my second favourite from them), and I do NOT see enough conversation about it. Lost In The Echo is a fenomenal song, and probably one of my favourite Chester x Mike moments

🍓 The Messenger - just typing the name of this song got the water fountains going. "When life leaves us blind, love keeps us kind" is a lyric that I will carry with me until the day I die

🍇 In Between - for the sake of "underrated" I purposely chose something from after the first 2 albums. In Between is criminally underrated imo, which is a shame since it's such a sweet song sung by Mike (which is rare since he hardly ever gets a solo song). Bonus underrated AND fun - When They Come For Me

🍈 Breaking The Habit - I could go on and on about why I love this song so so much, but I don't want to get sad. 13 yo me made it this far thanks to her 💙

BTS Fruit Salad:

🍊 Fire - THE hype song ever, it's physically impossible to be sad listening to her, helloooo 🔥 🔥

🍎 Spring Day - the fan favourite, of course I had to get her in here. Queen of the charts

🥭 Autumn Leaves & Home - this is my salad so I'll put extra mango if I want. Both of these are SO sexy in their own way, and since they're pretty far apart it'd only be fair to get them both in here

🍓 We Are Bulletproof : The Eternal - at first I thought about either 2! 3! or Young Forever, but We Are Bulletproof holds such a special, heavy meaning, considering the time it was released, and the overall theme of the album. I can't really listen to it without getting all choked up 🥺

🍇 Hip-Hop Lover & We On - putting 2 songs again because I can. These are VERY old BTS songs, and still remain some of my favourites. It's a shame so many newer fans outright refuse to listen to their older, not-so-polished stuff, cus it's fantastic really

🍈 Run - my mostest absolute Bangtan favourite, she's beauty, she's grace, she's so fun and devastating and aaaaaaa. AMAZING era that was, superior mv, just overall wowowowow
