i think, i mean first of all, aaron obviously loves and wants to be with robert, but can’t be at the moment because there’s a baby and also tbh because robert needs to get his god damn shit together
aaron… clearly doesn’t care that much about the immorality behind the shit robert pulls. aaron’s morals are sort of just as fucked up - in mean, they met THROUGH CRIME. they’re both sort of awful. rob is a lot more shameless about it but aaron robbed home farm and kidnapped lachlan all by himself, for instance 😂 he’s a true dingle, that one. since they got back together, aaron’s concerns have usually been, in canon, more along the lines of: pls don’t let robert put himself in jail and also does robert love me enough
on the first point, see: ssw and “i could lose you”, the police questioning rob about withdrawing the money to pay ryan, the argument over breaking lucky out of jail.
on the second: everything about the rebecca saga - i think aaron actually understood that rob was using her for her connection to the whites and the chance to get some more money (see: the talk in the back room after finding out about the kiss) but that didn’t stop him from feeling uncomfortable about it and so the question was always this awful mix of - does he love me enough to stay faithful and does he love me more than he loves money and scheming?
and that’s been the sticking point. canon has shown robert actively dropping scheming with rebecca/making money for aaron (aaron’s birthday) and also obviously there was that whole BURNING 10K thing smh - robert does love aaron more than he loves money and power but at the same time, oh boy does he love money and power! and he makes some fucked up choices around them.
the actual issue of why they broke up is more around obviously rob knocking up rebecca - which happened more because rob was genuinely angry at aaron, angrier than he’d been in such a long time. i’ve spoken about this so many times, but as far as robert was aware at that moment, he’d spent all this time struggling without aaron, unable to sleep, pouring money into a lawyer to try and get him out early and here’s aaron, disregarding all of that, taking drugs and threatening his chances of early release
and aaron going to prison? that’s something aaron did by himself (and ok also finn) that hurt robert and liv. a lot. that’s something that affected them both horrendously that was aaron’s fault. i have a friend whose dad punched someone at work which led to him getting fired and his mum literally up and left him - that level of violence against others really can break up relationships. aaron put someone in hospital and went to prison for it and robert chose to stay and didn’t hold it against aaron - until that one moment of weakness, where everything was a little too much, and he allowed himself to really be angry at aaron for putting them in that situation - and he fucked up massively. because he’s an idiot. and also probably because he has some issues around putting aaron on a pedestal sometimes and seeing aaron itching for more spice and being really very, horribly, awfully human was very very difficult for robert at that moment.
like. aaron put someone in hospital and robert barely said a word to aaron about it. that’s insane. and mirrored in a lot of ways in aaron’s initial reaction to staying with robert after the reveal and finding out about the baby. they both have the worst communication issues and also they are both so desperate to stay with each other that they overlook things that need to be talked about and dealt with. and that’s what’s been getting them in trouble since the moment they got together properly.
anyway, i’m literally more sympathetic towards the ons than i am basically anything else robert has ever done e v e r, which is ironic because that’s the one thing that fucked up robert’s life and ultimately pushed aaron away.
and ok let’s look at what aaron knew, from his side, that was expressed in canon, in the most simplistic form we can:
robert was angry at aaron for taking spice and slept with rebecca to hurt him, regrets it massivelyrebecca is now pregnant and not getting rid of the baby and also not leaving the village or going anywhere robert doesn’t want the baby but also is sort of fucked up about itaaron wants to be with robertaaron thinks robert would be a good dadaaron wants robert to spend time with his child if that’s what robert wants (because he very much loves robert)aaron doesn’t want rebecca to spend time with robert and does not know how to handle the fact that the baby is a reason why that has to happenin fact, rebecca being around is a constant reminder of the worst parts of robert and all those parts that he gave into earlier this yearand she has clearly expressed to aaron that she wanted to steal robert from him aaron has no real reason to trust that robert wouldn’t end up with rebecca despite everything because aaron is only human and its natural to be insecure about ur partner spending time with an ex who they kissed and also slept with in the last yearaaron wants to believe that robert only wants himaaron pushed most of that resentment on rebecca moreso than robert because that was an easier option for himultimately, he also resents robert and it doesn’t take much pushing for him to take that anger out on robert as well as rebecca, with almost deadly consequencesthe whole situation, likely in conjunction with the fact that he’s already experienced a lot of trauma earlier that year in prison which we are reminded of with the jason call back when aaron tries to buy spice again, is horrific for aaron’s mental healthaaron removes himself from the situation - both because he himself is struggling and because he almost killed robert - he says that he doesn’t need this and neither does robert.
i know i’ve seen a lot of people say that robert was the one who was bad for his mental health but it was so so so much more the situation as a whole than it was robert - and the situation was borne out of robert’s horrible decisions and god damn is that why robert needs to sort himself out and stop making horrible decisions on impulse whenever he’s feeling emotions that are hard to handle
- aaron needed to do it, because aaron was in a place where he was reacting with dangerous levels of violence every time he was upset at or about robert
and now robert needs to do it, because…. well, look at the little fucker, throwing himself into getting control of home farm as if that’s going to fill the emptiness in his chest, without any regard for anyone else’s safety or feelings. it’s a miracle no one has died yet (again) as a result of robert’s recklessness and carelessness over the lives of other people - and there have been enough close calls. this isn’t like… a cry of help to aaron though? this isn’t about rob trying to get aaron back lmao. it’s about him thinking he’s lost aaron for good and so deciding to do exactly what he was doing before aaron came along - which was slowly getting home farm and all the money and power that comes along with it. only this time, he’s acting almost deranged, because… well, he’s having a breakdown isn’t he?
for aaron and robert to get back together, aaron needs to continue to be in a place where he won’t resort to violence and robert needs to wake up and realise that being careless about people’s lives and doing what he’s been doing etc etc isn’t a good way to live + whatever else they’re gonna have him face up to lmao
but like? if robert stops being a dick and chasing after money and power at the expense of all the good things in his life (which - if anything could ever teach him that that’s not as emotionally fulfilling a way to live as being with your family and the man you love, i feel like this situation might)? i don’t see why aaron wouldn’t be happy with robert? they’re in love with one another and people can change and better themselves and lbr aaron literally said himself that he still thinks of himself as being in a relationship with rob because emotionally they’re both totally committed to one another.
robert may be a terrible human but he loves aaron and he’s spent a lot of time trying to be better for aaron - he’s saved aaron’s life over and over, is someone aaron wants to spend the rest of his life with, is someone aaron slips work to spend his entire day with, makes aaron laugh, loves aaron’s sister, someone who decorated an entire insane and beautiful house for them to live in, is someone who couldn’t sleep in their bed without aaron in it, someone who thinks that aaron is beautiful inside and out, someone who threw a surprise wedding for aaron because he was panicking about going to prison and needed something to ground him a little, someone who devoted all of his time and energy to supporting aaron through one of the toughest fucking periods of aaron’s life without asking or needing anything in return
robert is awful to most people but most of the time he tries like hell to be the best he can be to aaron and most of the time? he succeeds
sometimes he doesn’t and those are the moments where we internally slap him upside the head but like… that’s also how relationships work, usually
(but also thank christ rob is getting the redemption coma or whatever bc he needs it)
and aaron loves him back - even after everything, aaron defends robert to people, he truly believes in the best parts of robert because he’s seen them, as well as the worst parts - and he’s forgiven the worst parts because that’s what aaron does and that’s not a bad thing or a weakness or something he needs to be gently pushed out of, that’s a beautiful quality in a human being tbh fuck everyone who doesn’t appreciate and respect aaron’s capacity to forgive whilst still sticking up for himself and making sure no one walks over him, because he absolutely would never let anyone walk over him, not even robert - aaron knows his own mind and his own heart and he’s going to do whatever he’s going to do, fuck what anyone else thinks and if that means believing that robert is deserving of his forgiveness, i don’t think that’s something that makes him weak nor is it necessarily even something that takes something away from aaron, that’s hard for him to do or makes him lesser in any way. idk i’m a forgiving person and i get how against the odds easy that can be sometimes, even if it’s not necessarily the best idea always 😂
IM GETTING OFF TRACK BASICALLY AARON LOVES ROBERT AND ROBERT LOVES AARON AND THAT WASNT ENOUGH FOR THEM THIS YEAR - EVERYTHING IMPLODED AND SOMETIMES IT WAS AARON’S FAULT, MORE OFTEN IT WAS ROB’S FAULT AND GOD SOMETIMES IT WAS THE WORLD JUST BEING RELENTLESSLY SHITTY TO THEM AND PILING ON SOME MORE PAIN
BUT WANTING AARON TO BE WITH ROBERT IS NEVER NECESSARILY AS SIMPLE AS “I DISREGARD AARON’S FEELINGS IN FAVOUR OF ROBERT’S” BECAUSE I SECRETLY HATE AARON, BECAUSE TO ME, AARON’S FEELINGS ARE ALWAYS INEVITABLY GOING TO BUILD BACK UP TO WANTING TO BE WITH ROBERT
AND I HAVE A LOT OF RESPECT FOR AARON’S FEELINGS HENCE THE JUSTICE FOR AARON’S FEELINGS 2K17 MOVEMENT THAT I KEEP HAVING TO BRING OUT
but it’s just that that decision to be together again doesn’t necessarily have to turn into the hell that 2017 was for them both
🤷🏻♀️ they can be better than that and they can genuinely make one another happy - they just need a better run at it, with less awful impulses towards violence or infidelity or what have you

Mental Health & Media
The stories that media tells us about the mentally ill will generally paint a terrifying image. Maybe you see a horror house during halloween in which it’s a psychiatric hospital and there are unstable patients doing unspeakable things in hospital gowns who look something like zombies covered in blood. Maybe you hear of a grizzly murder and the suspects state of mind comes into question... Was he crazy? Maybe you’ve even heard someone say they were going insane over ____________ (fill in the blank). So much of our speech prevails into our thoughts and what we consider to be the norm. I think few of us realize the implications that it has on those who actually have a mental illness.
I have been hospitalized twice and still regularly handle the every day of my life. Should you see me in life, my profession, my education, it’s not likely you’d place a label on me or bring my mental health into question. In some ways, this is very good. I get to fly under the radar of most people and the only time I feel the sting of stigma and prejudice is when I hear it about someone else, see an article on the news, but it’s rarely directed toward me. On the other hand, I’m an example (like others) that mental illness is the new normal anymore. I hate to use that language, but as a society we seem to obsess over being normal when appropriate and regard ourselves different when it seems fashionable.
Parts of me feel guilty about this, though. Is this really any different than taking advantage of a white privilege? What I mean to say is that by not speaking more openly about my mental health problems and by trying to purposefully cover it up when people ask why I was away for those five weeks, it only pushes forward the stigma and the prejudice of mental illness.
Of course, I respect myself enough to understand that I also am not a martyr and I do not intend to be, meaning that I will not suddenly announce to the world that I have bipolar disorder. There’s a level of self-preservation that is necessary to survive the stigma in this world. So I choose to take a little more passive approach. Instead of announcing it, I take each moment and consider when it is the right time and place to disclose this. Using this tactic, I have gradually become more comfortable with disclosure. It also gives me the opportunity to paint it how it actually is for me. What I mean to say is that while, yes, there are folks who experience bipolar disorder (or other serious mental illnesses) in ways that produce psychotic symptoms regularly, there are many, like myself who do not. I’ve had psychotic symptoms less than five times in my life. My illness allows me to have grips on reality even when things are bad. I’m not certain what that means but whatever it does, I think it’s important to note that we should not fear the mentally ill; we should not place them in a box; we should not decide exactly who they are before we know them; and we’ve got to work harder to reframe our thinking of mentally ill and what the psychiatric hospital is like.
One of the most troubling factors of stigma on the mentally ill community is that it has a strong push and pull on individuals who are living with mental illness in terms of reaching out and receiving help. I received my diagnosis when I was 16 years old, fresh out of a two week stay in a psychiatric hospital and after having come forward about the sexual assault I’d regularly experience at the hands of my then step-father. It is not uncommon for a traumatic event to trigger the full-blown onset of bipolar disorder. Regardless, I still had some symptoms prior to the sexual trauma. Yet, these things get pushed to the wayside or ignored fully until it becomes too late.
I’ll be the first to admit that I understand how difficult it is to get help. The first time I was hospitalized and received a diagnosis, I had no choice, I was a minor. I accepted my medication and therapy and took them for almost two years until I decided I never had the illness in the first place and subsequently changed health coverage. No one wants to be sick and we especially don’t want to handle the frustrating complexities of a mental illness. From then on, I survived for nearly eight years without medication or counseling. I really thought I was fine. But almost like clock work, ten years after my first hospitalization, I was hospitalized again and forced to face the reality that this was something I was going to deal with for the rest of my life.
I’m really not trying to rant away here. I’m just trying to paint this image for you to see what it’s like coming to terms with a mental illness in a society and culture that by default says it’s a bad thing, you’re a deviant, you’re a bad person. You may read this and think to yourself - I don’t think any of this! And you may not. But consider your actions in society and the everyday words you use that may be viewed as harmless to you and many others that may be contributing to the stigma unknowningly. Think about the following phrases: “Are you insane?!” “Stop acting crazy!” “You’re driving me mad/nuts!” This seems so innocent and it probably is. But the speech we normalize makes it difficult to use these words when someone is going insane or crazy. I’m not trying to sensor anyone and I slip up quite a bit myself. But I definitely hope that I’ve given you something to chew on here. There’s a lot of ways that we can reduce stigma and I believe that the first and easiest step is our words.

Okay, you know what? Let’s talk about this. I hate posts like these. It’s really a way to fear monger and not talk about the nuances of what it means to work with a deity. It’s a way for people to get uppity about people who have complicated relationships with deities like spouses might. It’s the whole real god versus fake god bullshit that I’m tired of dealing with but here we go.
So first of all, if you’re dealing with toxic behavior from a spirit, I invite you to look at your own life. The best example I can give you are romantic relationships since they’re most prone to toxicity. If you’ve had toxic relationships with people, the likelihood of you developing a toxic relationship with a spirit that feeds off of your negativity and self doubt is much higher than if you had already dealt with that and are prepared to move on to a healthy relationship. I recommend this to anyone wanting to enter a devotional relationship with any deity. Look at your own life. Look at the negative voices in your own head. Don’t immediately assume “imposter” because someone is telling you to leave a seemingly healthy relationship. Because these things will rear their ugly head the moment you do this and if you don’t have the confidence in yourself, you’re going to learn it the hard way.
Say you do it, anyway. I did. I thought I knew what was up in my life but Loki proved otherwise. So, how you deal with that with deities is complicated and it’s even more complicated when you get around to working with Loki. Loki will push the boundaries, he will nudge you to the edge of insanity just to see if you’ll stand on your own two feet in spite of him. I know he’s done that to me. And part of it had to do with my own nasty voice in my head that said he wouldn’t love me, that all this work and change is bad for me, that Loki wouldn’t scare me. Change is scary and he is the very agent of change. He’s told me to walk out of relationships that I thought were otherwise seemingly healthy only to look back at them and realize how unhealthy they were to make me realize how much self worth i don’t have, how I don’t listen to people, how I don’t even trust myself.
Teaching these things, warning people is nice and all but it’s so much more complicated than this and I hope that people who are new and reading this will realize that.
It’s about perspective and it’s about confidence in yourself and that you can create a healthy relationship in your spiritual life and outside - it’s not instilling fear in those who wouldn’t know any better and thinking that, if they’re being told to give an oath or to marry or being nudged in a direction means that they’re dealing with some falsity if this is the direction a deity or spirit thinks you should be leaning toward.
Essentially, if you’re not growing as a person in working with anyone, human or not, it’s not good. The spirit world is equally nasty but just because you’re having nasty experiences doesn’t mean you’re dealing with an imposter. Thanks for coming to my TEDx talk.

If the entity you’re dealing with ‘punishes’ you or tries to guilt you for having healthy relationships with other people or spirits, guess what, you’re dealing with a parasite. This isn’t a game kids, just because we work in the unseen doesn’t mean there aren’t real ramifications and real danger. There are some real nasty entities out there, and they will manipulate & feed off of you. Should you already be lonely, depressed, desperately desiring a relationship, or the like, and an entity pops in claiming to be a deity that’s just enamored with you or quickly becomes so, have enough self awareness & spiritual discernment to recognize that these bottom feeders are opportunistic and will tell you exactly what you want to hear. And those those whose immediate response to this is, ‘well they’re protective of me because they love me’. You should be concerned.

A physician suicide: covered up with a tarp and silence
Another young doctor recently jumped to her death in New York City. She landed at the entrance of the building where she lived.

Hello Pamela, I am not a doctor, but a mother of 3 and a wife of a resident physician. Tonight I watched AGAIN the police taking the body of another female doctor — lifeless — into a body bag. Two doctors died from jumping off our 33-story building in 2 years, and no one seems to care. The hospital and everyone are so silent. They cover it up. No one talks about. Someone dies, and everyone puts their heads down and ignores it and are told by the hospital to keep quiet — especially to reporters.
Thank you so much for your blog, public speaking, and advocacy. Since I’m not a doctor, there’s only so much I can understand about what my husband is going through. Discovering your blog has helped me know how to help my husband in so many ways. I worry so much about him. When we’ve tried to seek mental health care, we’ve had to be top secret about it. It’s insane. I’m tired of seeing dead bodies out my window. I’m tired of being on the sidelines. I’m feeling so angry and upset. I feel so powerless. What actions can I take to make sure I never see something like this happen again? Words can never describe how it feels to see a dead body outside your window. A beautiful lifeless body of a beautiful doctor.
This is what I saw when I came home tonight — a dead doctor lying under that tarp — lifeless in the freezing cold. What I am supposed to tell my daughter when she asks, “Mommy what’s that?”

Like the girl that died last year, she was too sad.
Then I got an email that truly shocked me.
I do not have permission to publish this one so I won’t. I will say that it came from a man who I deeply admire, a man who is a health system executive in NYC. He wrote me in distress about the loss of this young doctor. He explained that hospitals investigate why things go wrong in patient care and lessons learned are shared to improve processes and prevent future deaths. When a doctor dies by suicide, how are we to learn from this tragedy if we don’t study what went wrong? Police don’t investigate suicides. Investigation is left to grieving family and friends. Don’t we have an obligation as a society and as medical professionals to understand why these suicides occur? He concludes, “If this were a patient, we’d be all over it and so would the regulators.”
A few hours before this flurry of emails, I was on the phone with a doctor who reported that her own family physician shot herself in her clinic. The doctor who called me disclosed the she had never been suicidal herself — except once, during residency for about 15 minutes. In an impulsive move, she went up to the roof of her 5-story hospital. Standing on the ledge, she recalled a lecture in which she was instructed that to assure death one must jump from at least six stories. So she paused. Then turned around and went back to work.
Now to answer the questions posed to me by the doctor’s wife, the physician, and the hospital executive. First, I believe we all have a common goal — to end these suicides.
To the wife of the resident physician who asks, “What actions can I take to make sure I never see something like this happen again?” I say talk about these suicides. Secrets will not save us. Organize a support group for physicians and their spouses. Don’t wait for another fallen physician. Channel your passion into action. Reach out to others in your building in a way that inspires and fuels you.
To the doctor who asks, “Would you please expose these Manhattan hospitals?” I say that as doctors we must all speak up about injustice, human rights violations in medical education, and deplorable working conditions in our first-world hospitals. It’s not just Manhattan hospitals. Doctors and medical students are dying by suicide throughout the United States and the world. This is a global epidemic.
To the executive who asks, “Don’t we have an obligation as a society and as medical professionals to understand why these suicides occur?” I say yes. I hold our medical system to the highest standard when it comes to protecting human life — and that includes the lives of our doctors. As a society, we must understand that this is a public health crisis. More than one million Americans lose their doctors to suicide each year. We can no longer cover up these deaths with tarps and silence. We can no longer walk away from the very people who have dedicated their lives to serving others. It’s just wrong.
“How are we to learn from this tragedy if we don’t investigate?” Without an investigation, history will repeat itself. More doctors will plunge to their deaths from hospitals and resident housing complexes in NYC. If we don’t investigate this death, we are each complicit in the loss of future physicians to suicide. Now is the time for fearless leadership, for the heroes among us to reveal themselves and take a stand for our doctors — for the men and women who walk into our hospitals everyday to so selflessly serve others.
