Hello eru-vande! It’s another week of sending out some interesting ASKs to my mutuals. 🥰 Have you read any must-read classics? If you did, which was your favourite and why? If you haven’t, what is your favourite book and why?

Oh I think I'be read almost every russian classic books from the mmust-read classic list (not a surprise, we read them all in school), but otherwise I hardly read any, to be honest.

I read the Count of Monte Cristo, and at some point it just disgusted me to the point when i just stopped reading it.

I tried to read Brave New World, but I did a grievous mistake in trying to read it in English, read the first few chapters with 0 understanding what the hell they all are talking about and stopped lmao

I started reading The Picture of Dorian Gray and got distracted and stopped lol I hae to read it tho, i remember that i liked reading it.

I have two books I really love, they both are from USSR

The Two Captains by Veniamin Kaverin. Is a novel about development of the personality in every meaning possible. The main characters grew up from kids to adults, living through October Revolution and the WW2. It's a perfect novel for young teens, it contains love, friendship, loyalty and betrayal and the mind that eager to reach it's goal in life.

And Quite Flows the Don by Michail Sholokhov. Now, this is hard to explain what this book is about, cause it's just so big and complicated, let's say it's about the lives of Don Cossaks during Russian Revolution and WW1. A lot of inner fights of main character, a lot of idiological fights as well between the Bolshiviks and anti-Bolsheviks. Very questionable main character, but we love that (we love characters who act like a real deal person in the books right? I don't think i like him personally but i like a compicated character)

David doesn't hug you back. He keeps his arms out to either side of you and continues working on his phone, which is being held high behind you now to give him an unobstructed view. You know he isn't ignoring you, though. If he were, you wouldn't be in his lap at all.

This is all you intend for it to be because you just wanted to snuggle into him and enjoy the intimacy for a little while, like a cat seeking affection.

Except…under your silk robe, your bare core is directly over him. And god, he smells good. The cologne he wears is, surprisingly, far less ostentatious than he is. Clean linen, musk, and something deep and rich that reminds you of a storm.

You nuzzle further into his neck, seeking more of his scent. His warmth. How solid he feels in your arms. The way his chest presses into yours as he inhales, and the tickle of his breath along your shoulder as he lets it out—each sensation leaves you nearly full of him.

Suddenly it's not nearly enough.

The entire bravery bit and the fact that she has never really had a choice but to be brave. She has been sleepwalking with a bow and arrows and a belt full of poison. Ngl "She says she's worried about me/Maybe she should be" is such an interesting line for both of the kindleafs, since Erlin has that acknowledges something might be wrong but doesn't want to be a burden on the people around him thing going on and Egwene has the acknowledges something might be wrong but she's supposed to be the strong one and doesn't want to show vulnerability deal. I don't think any of what I just typed makes any sense but I see your visions. I see your visions exactly.

lalo and nacho putting together a piece of IKEA furniture

So I happened to do exactly this activity all day long so I've been thinking about this all day. I think many things could happen. I think Nacho is the kind to be extremely tactical and sticking to the plan. He would have a rug of the perfect size for the furniture to build it on. All kinds of screwdrivers, two hammers, a box with extra pieces he kept from precedent purchases and a little extra piece of wood to put between the furniture and the hammer so to not damage the surface around the nail/other plastic stuff. Lalo is the kind to open everything and mix boxes contents, mix packages of screws/plastic stuff/wood pieces/etc, and would just try to find how everything as to be assembled without following the plan at all. He would probably throw ALL the plastic stuff over his shoulder because it looks stupid to him. "I did plenty of carpentry stuff when I was younger, Ignacio, I know what I'm doing." "but this isn't a rectangular box, Lalo." "Yeah just mock me, come back in twenty minutes it'll be done." When Nacho comes back he finds the piece of furniture finished and perfectly square and all, but all the screws are visible because Lalo just assembled everything so it looks like the drawing on the cover of the plan. And he doesn't botter to use any of the plastic covering pieces to hide them either. "You know there are pre-drilled holes fitting each kind of screws and all? And so when you're done almost none of them are visible." "It's called arts and crafts, Nachito." "That's why you painted blue and red flowers one the sides here?" "You don't like them?" "Hm. I wanted plain black shelves but... it's fine I guess." *beaming Lalo* Lalo would be complaining about the quality of the furniture, like the wood is too cheap and "we could have such a nice wood with such pretty color shades, and not that boring plain black stuff" and Nacho would just "We already had this discussion when I told you I had the idea to buy a shelve, when I told you we were going today, when we were driving to IKEA, when we were inside IKEA, when we picked the boxes, when we paid, when we came back here, and you're telling me you want to have this conversation again now that we're actually assembling it? Shut the fuck up Eduardo." There is also the possibility of Lalo playing it like he does everything for the cartel job while he have a subordinate with him, he sits low in a chair on the side, feet up on something, hands behind his head, and spends his time looking and commenting everything. Nacho brings the various boxes inside the room and notices him and just "Oh, is your back hurting again abuelito?" "I like to see you work is all" And Nacho would ignore him while he works, but Lalo would be far too glad to comment with "This looks so heavy" "Oooh so strong Nachito" "nice view" "you forgot a screw there" "that's it, flex those big muscles of yours" Or he would do those same comments EXCEPT he's the one holding the plan and he refuses to let Nacho come take a look at it, he would love to describe what Nacho has to do next while pointing at what piece of wood he needs to use, give stupid description for the different kinds of screws/plastic stuff/wood pieces/etc, and "ah, they say you should be two person to build this. Well, I always thought you were a very capable man so I'm sure you'll do just fine." Anyway they always end up doing really great. They're both manual men after all

what was his first birthday like without Maria??? What did he and little Belle do ? and what do they do as time went on?? Did he ever forget it was his birthday because no one was there to remind him when Belle was little????

maurice’s first birthday without maria was… basically nonexistent. those first few years were really blurry and just :(( not great. he was pretty much dissociated most of the time, and really only paid attention to belle and any work he tried to do to get money so he could support belle. everything was about his baby girl, because maria asked him to save her.

i don’t think he really noticed that it even Was his birthday. belle was nine months old and thriving and maurice was figuring out the whole farming thing best he could. he hadn’t made any art since paris. (i headcanon that this depressive episode leads to like, at least two-three years of artist’s block. which SUCKS because it always came so naturally to him. so he’s lost because of that, on top of everything else.)

i think that first birthday in villeneuve came and went without a single thought. and yeah, no one in the village knew, not even his new friend père robert, so no one was wishing him a happy birthday. honestly i don’t think he noticed until maybe some days later. maybe he heard someone mention the day’s date, and he had a moment of clarity that his birthday was four days ago. but that of course sends him into another bout of sadness, because it just makes him think of last year…

BUT LET’S JUMP A BIT FORWARD IN TIME NOW, SHALL WE? 🫠

as time carried on, birthdays did get a tad bit easier. eventually père robert of course learned his friend’s birthday, as well as the handful of other people in the village who don’t SUCK, so he started getting more well wishes on the day. and as belle grew up, and learned about birthdays, she LOVED celebrating her papa!! she started making special crafts for him, as well as ALWAYS picking a bouquet of wildflowers for him. (and maurice would take them and put some in her hair and some in his hair and belle always laughs !!)

as belle gets older, i think she really likes to cook & bake things for him. she inherited his love language of making food for your loved ones. i have a cute idea about her making something for him on his 50th birthday, when she’s almost ten, i’ll see if i can get it written 👀 but it’s Very Cute. [EDIT: i did write it!!] but anyway yeah she always likes to make breakfast for him on his birthday, as well as bake him a blueberry pie (his favorite!!). they also pick up a tradition of having maurice’s birthday dinner at père robert’s house. sometimes it’s just the three of them, but i think it started one year when père robert’s sisters (and their families) were visiting. so he thought his friend could use some familial comradery on his birthday. and maurice did very much appreciate it :”)

overall, maurice doesn’t care Too Much about his birthday, but he’s always appreciative when the people who love him make him feel extra special 🥹
