i am actually karashi’s biggest fan please can we know a little more about his background and how he went from anarchy battles to salmon run…..

Karashi first got the idea to join Grizzco after hearing talk of a thrilling, yet considerably risky job opportunity coming to Splatsville. He was hoping that, by joining Grizzco and taking on this dangerous challenge, he could further build his reputation of being a fresh and hardcore guy. and also impress his peers with his (supposed) skills in the process. (he will never admit this.)

as for his background... it's nothing special (unlike him). He was born and raised in the splatlands, then later moved closer to splatsville once he was about 15. His anarchy battle "career" got jumpstarted when he pulled off something particularly fresh (vague, i know) and gained a small following.

and to clarify: he never stopped doing anarchy battles. That's his main schtick! he's just continuing to work at Grizzco on the side for… his own reasons.

Normally I'm most obsessed with my own Durge (her name is Maev 😊) but you got me hooked and I would love to know more of them! Are they shape shifters/trans/androgynous? they originally started as a tav w/ the name lux, short for the tiefling virtue name luxury, then i restarted w/ them as a durge and the name nox bc it was like the opposite of lux (night vs light). they've evolved pretty far from the original lux character in terms of backstory, motivations and priorities, though personality-wise they're still pretty similar. i'm still considering whether i want to preserve/develop lux as a separate tav 🤔

they like to change up their gender presentation but tragically (in their opinion) are unable to physically change shape (major point of sibling rivalry with orin). i guess the best term for them might be genderfluid, or polygender? they're fine w/ any pronouns and gendered words but tend to most enjoy androgyny and ambiguity

and yes you get it..! that's a good analogy, not exactly innocent but amoral in the literal meaning of the word, like outside of mortal morality. cause they're not mortal ultimately and even by the end of the game struggle to see anything wrong with their enjoyment of violence and killing

they think about things less in terms of right and wrong and more in terms of what they care about and how they're affected (though they do throughout the course of the game begin to redevelop their very beaten down and atrophied sense of sympathy). luckily for everyone involved they want to be Loved and can compromise by mostly only enjoying socially acceptable violence and killing lol

phoenix comes across very nice at first, a well respected figure- though, it seems like that respect is built off of fear more than anything else. a sweet talker with skill in social manipulation isn't one you really want to cross (though, to be very fair to her, she usually reserves her wrath for people that have hurt her or her friends in some way)

sol... well, it depends on if you stick to his strict expectation of perfection. most people don't! sol's less outright mean and more backhanded and passive aggressive. he's not afraid to insult people, but he'll do it in a very backhanded way (at least, if you haven't pissed him off enough. if you have, he just goes straight for the throat) he's all bark and no bite!

neither of them are really traditionally 'mean'- phoenix is more slow and venomous with her cruelty if she sees fit, whereas sol is fairly friendly and amicable if you stay on his good side! neither of them will just be an ass to someone for no reason!

13 — hot chocolate by bears in trees! have some very pre canon lanie lore. like. a full year or so before canon

The party is bumping, the house is packed, and Lanie thinks she might actually throw up.

She’s been camped out in the upstairs bathroom for the past twenty minutes — she thinks, at least. She left her phone downstairs by accident. All she can do is pray it hasn’t been broken. Or stolen. Or both, actually.

She hadn’t volunteered to host the after prom party. It was just a fact around Lake Elsinore that the Woodwards were… well off, so to speak, which meant she hosted most of their high school’s parties when her parents weren’t home. Which was often. She was more worried about Josh snitching than anything.

But Josh isn’t here, and she doesn’t have her phone, and her mascara is about to start running if she sits in here for a moment longer because her emotions are catching up to her and apparently the makeup lied to her about being waterproof. The only issue is that if she steps outside, she has to see Alyssa, and she can’t physically handle that while the other girl’s lipstick is still smeared across her face.

Look, okay, it’s not— she hadn’t meant to end up making out with her best friend in the bathroom at senior prom. It just… y’know. Happened. Alyssa had been going through a really awful breakup with her boyfriend — who’s a fucking creep, by the way, and Lanie’s not just saying that because she’s biased — and she’d mentioned maybe she should just start dating girls, and Lanie had super casually went I mean, I could help with that, and then. Well. You get the idea.

Jenna had been right about her dress, at least. She looked hot as hell.

She still does, mostly, if you ignore the mascara clumping against her eyelashes, or the ruddy red of her cheeks that isn’t just her blush, or the fact that her hair looks like a goddamn bird’s nest. Red is definitely still her color, and her dress still looks great, and her feet hurt like hell but she’s getting the fuck you across to everyone who said she was too tall for heels, and that’s what really matters.

A knock at the door startles her out of her moping. “Lanes?” Alyssa says, something like concern in her voice even as it wobbles. “You okay?”

“Peachy,” Lanie says. It’s only sort of a lie.

She rakes her fingers through her hair, dabs at her eyes with a tissue, and throws open the door, plastering a smile on her face. Alyssa brightens, just barely, holding out her arm for Lanie to take.

“We’re gonna go take Polaroids,” she says, a twinkle in her eye. “You wanna come?”

Lanie wants nothing more than to curl up and cry into a pillow for several hours.

“Obviously.”

ohhh my boy.. my boy who has never known peace in his life.... dreadful!

we're naturally assuming he's outta the basement-cult or wherever he is if he's having a PEACEFUL day... well.

if he had the choice, he'd sleep in. years of running himself to the bone and being dutiful no matter what means his internal clock is pretty strict but that doesn't mean he can't just put his head down and go back to sleep.

when he gets up, it's walk time! he loves walking! especially if he can get out, see the sun, breathe some fresh air and maybe see what all the fuss is about feeding ducks in all that tv he's been catching up on recently. buying a proper lunch, not stealing it and definitely not having to hunt it himself, is also a treat he treasures dearly (and, ah, oh no, it seems feeding the ducks also means they'll expect YOUR food when you run out. time to buy another lunch! he doesn't really mind)

he's a big fan of the pet shop. i think he'd really like to go see the pet shop, especially if he could go with the regular basement crew to coo at the little cats. or maybe just wander into the public library and brush up on his reading skills - it's been a while and he's working hard to relearn the pace he used to be able to go at as a kid (nerd)

evening sets and he just goes back home to watch tv. it's hard to shake that little bit of unease he has in public because after all, people look at you when you're a weird masked man covered in scars looking behind you all suspicious like. also he's autistic. so he retires to go sleep on the couch, nestled in a blanket den just like his namesake and watching a documentary or something with a book in hand. king of multitasking with a few years worth of real society to catch up on, who can blame him ??

ALWAYS.. they are everything to me. i will never not want to talk about them

-they both cry at cute movies. they’ll host friends over at their apartment often for movie nights or dinner

-ace loves to surprise sol with flowers. oftentimes they’ll end up pulling a far too large bouquet out of their far too small hat. sol is touched anyways

-sol’s ribombee loves to nest in ace’s hair

-ace spoils the life out of sol’s pokemon and sol gets playfully exasperated about this. delphox and zoroark and ace’s other pkmn *love* sol and will attempt to snuggle with them at all times. sol spoils them when they think no one’s looking (someone always is)

-sol’s togekiss was a gift from ace! they got it as an egg.

-sol is usually the little spoon but ace is a big snuggler so this sometimes switches. ace was v used to taking up as little space as possible when sleeping on the street/in meteor but after they get an apartment together they feel more comfy taking up space. sol will wake up and ace is either snuggled with arms around her or halfway off the bed, no in between

-they love to cook together. sol isn’t as good at it but they’re learning!!

-they’re both huge dorks. just in different ways !! sol has a v playful teasing silly side. ace loves to affectionately tease and flirt with and compliment them but gets very flustered when they do the same thing.

- the two most oblivious people. danced around not knowing they had feelings a lot at first bc they both were useless gays. (“we’re advanced friends” “you literally kissed??”)

- love doing little mundane things together that neither ever really got to do before. holding hands on walks in the city parks, baking together and getting flour everywhere, watching movies together, etc.

Nova's defining trait is their willingness to help others. If they see someone who needs help, they will never hesitate to jump up and offer it. While this is generally good, they do tend to put others before themself- their partners often have to remind them to help themself. Their helpfulness makes them have many acquitances and friends and makes them someone people can always rely on, though.

"17.) Does your OC have any family? Describe them."

...good question! I have a tendency to completely ignore an oc's family unless it's particularly relevant to their story or lore. I'd imagine Nova probably has more than one parent and likely a sibling or two, though! But I'd also imagine they definitely consider their two partners, Sevan and Nico, their family as well.

he grew up in an orphanage with his friend Mae and aged out faster but promised to come back for him

but then signed a bad contract for gladiotor work and they broke him and he couldn't leave

and when he finally escapes its too late and Mae is gone, so he goes to paladins and he studies and heals from his experiences

and then he meets Mae again and he cant forgive himself for breaking a promise and he doesnt apologize because he feels that he doesnt deserve forgiveness and !!! their relationship is so messy !!

alone: How does your OC deal with loneliness? Have they ever been completely alone before? How do they act when there’s no one around to see them?

very poorly! fear of loneliness is rly central to their character so it's funny you chose this one lol, it's their greatest weakness and they owe both their cult leader status and eventual redemption arc to their need for other people and fear of being alone. on the rare occasion they feel guilty about something, going off and suffering their doom spiral alone is one of their worst self-inflicted punishments.

secret: What’s one secret your OC never wants anyone to know about them?

this one is tougher bc they don't rly have much sense of shame or even privacy lol but one thing they actively work to deny even to themself is the depth of care they feel about rly anything but particularly their relationships. their own feelings of love and closeness have been used to control and abuse them their whole life and they've grown instinctively fearful of sharing them or even acknowledging those feelings to themself.

6. see this is kind of a tricky one. i think he has a set of laws he considers higher and immovable (particularly the ones relating to angels, which. is why he's like that now because he's never forgiven himself from breaking those laws as a child), but when it comes to human justice he really doesn't care. achieving his goals takes precedence over everything else and the only reason he'd be careful not to get caught is just that it'd make it harder for him to keep working lmao. publicly though he always positions himself as a paragon of justice exactly how people expect him to, but he really doesn't believe in it that much.

17+18. im grouping these two zkmskns. not at all!! he doesn't get embarrassed by nearly anything because he believes so strongly that he's right that someone else's opinions mean literally nothing to him. he used to get more embarrassed when he was younger Because people would be treating him as a kid and therefore never putting stock in what he was saying, up until the point people started seeing him as a genius. but he hated that so much it always had his face burning in shame. (fwiw mercure gets embarrassed a whole lot more and easier, especially before his transformation lol, in part bc of how he was always always compared to neptune. but since neptune was the first born and perfect in everyone's eyes he didn't have to deal with all that)

23. orgh... envy is definitely. part of what drives him along with greed, so i think he'd always have to take what he wants, even if it means ripping it from someone else... except if it comes to mercure because in that case his envy/jealousy is always so tinted with pride (because it's his little brother, because he's the one who paved the way from him, because mercure being where he is now means that neptune succeeded, and he'll always be jealous that mercure is closer to angelhood than him now but again that means it's his victory) that it's a different case. it frustrates him when it comes to mercure though bc mercure isn't aware of what it all means and of all the work neptune had to do to get there so he has no idea what an achievement this is, and part of neptune longs for that ignorance even if he's not really aware of it himself

3. How do they put themselves to bed at night (reading, singing, thinking?)

he tends to have something like tv on in the background or something until the noise drowns out the noise in his brain and he can fall asleep

7. What triggers nostalgia for them, most often? Do they enjoy that feeling?

hmm im not sure but i think nostalgia is a mixed bag for him there's a lot of complicated memories and associations with stuff so whether he enjoys it or not is rly situation dependant gbhfhg

10. What lie do they most frequently remember telling? Does it haunt them?

he lied to himself about his childhood and family and situation until he was like an adult <3 and then he still tried to lie to himself. the fact that the lies werent true and were never true is what haunts him

11. How do they cope with confusion (seek clarification, pretend they understand, etc)?

a lot of the time he'll just nod like he gets it but it goes in one ear and out the other. he's also just very forgetful and having quite a few disabilities he is used to being confused

15. How do they speak? Is what they say usually thought of on the spot, or do they rehearse it in their mind first?

very situational, most of the time he just says shit whether he regrets it or not but sometimes he does need to rehearse it to feel more comfortable. he is encouraged to script a lot more by other people to make his own life easier if he's doing interviews or something. he'll just Talk and eventually embarrass himself otherwise lol

36. Do they actively seek romance, or do they wait for it to fall into their lap? 

99% of the time he just goes for it but there are some times when its a more confusing relationship (like with elle) and there's a lot more push and pull and waiting and being Confused on whats going on for his end. generally, he definitely goes for it for sure lol. he's not really at a point in his life where he's very interested in like a settling down kind of romance exactly he's more into like hookups but he enjoys it when it happens

37. Do they have a system for remembering names, long lists of numbers, things that need to go in a certain order (like anagrams, putting things to melodies, etc)? 

not at all <3 if he needs to remember things he'll try to just repeat it over and over and hold it in his head till its ready to use but he usually forgets it within a few seconds so it doesn't work that well. he tries to keep track of things but it is hard

40. How sensitive are they to their own flaws?

its hard to be pretty famous and not know everything people hate about you lol but his career is more there for me to be able to put him in situations he wouldn't be in otherwise than it is deeply intertwined with his character, his like Story is much more focused around HIM as a Guy than him Being Famous. i got distracted uhh he can be sensitive but he can also be completely ignorant to his flaws or things people have issues with about him. he doesn't like.. deal with things. often.

D) Have they always had the same physical appearance, or have you had to edit how they look?

he's mostly looked the same since i made him as a kid! he used to be yellower instead of browner, and his mane was 'striped' light blue and dark blue and thats something i just kind of nod to in his current iteration (blue with lighter HIGHLIGHTS instead of actual stripes), but thats really it

E) Are they someone you would get along with? Would they get along with you?

im sure we'd annoy each other sometimes but i'd hope we'd get along :) he'd be fun to hang out with lol. i wanna party with him

H) What trait do you admire most?

his massive muscles. more seriously i like his confidence and i respect that he Does Things and has been successful from it
