it's the roaring 1920's in Middle Earth, despite the war looming on the horizon for Gondor and Rohan. Faramir runs a infamous club that doubly serves as a information center... he knows all the secrets coming in and out of Gondor. Too bad he's completely oblivious to the fact that Dernhelm, his valet/bartender/assistant, is actually the missing niece of the king of Rohan...

Eowyn runs away from home to live a more adventurous life, getting caught up in Faramir's espionage business, and quickly falls for her boss/friend. She ends up leading a double (Triple??) life when she has to balance pretending to be a man (Dernhelm) and a flapper dancer as equally infamous as the club she dances at.

Things get even more complicated when Faramir finds himself falling not just for "the woman of his dreams", but his valet Dernhelm too, completely oblivious to the fact that they are, in fact, the same person...

Thoughts on Cheng Xiaoshi, especially any childhood/pre-canon headcanons?

omg i have Many thoughts about cheng xiaoshi as a kid!

has crybaby energy. LOOK i think presently cxs is Very sensitive and emotional so i see a little cxs as that but 100% worse. has the vibes of the kid who would lose in a game as school and the tears would just start leaking out. like he tried really hard and he LOST?? of course he's gonna cry. tries to be nice someone, but someone is mean to him in response? (kids are cruel man) cries. loses a favourite toy? cries. that, or he throws a massive strop about it. i imagine this is why qiao ling is so good at comforting cxs; she was constantly consoling him before he grew out of his Ultra sensitive phase ( and yes she has definitely beat a few people up for the sake of defending cheng xiaoshi).

would Not eat vegetables as a kid and only ever wanted sweets/unhealthy food. i think this could be pretty ironic seeing as he's the best cook now out of lu guang and qiao ling, when his ideal diet as a ten year old was limited to 'yummy pastries' (and probably junk food). i bet there's still some vegetables he just cannot stand and lu guang does have to lecture him on the importance of a balanced diet when he gets his sudden cravings and only wants to eat This One Thing

had a lion plushie that he slept with Every night for way longer than most people would see as 'socially acceptable' for boys. and when he had trouble getting to sleep he'd make up adventures for him and his lion to go on, which would work sometimes and other times it would just keep him up longer because of his overactive imagination. at least, he doesn't have to think about the Bad Thoughts tho. so.

and an extra, more genera thought:

canon does kind of allude to this but i LOVE how oblivious cheng xiaoshi seems about romance sometimes. always being the last to pick up on newly formed feelings/relationships in his friend circles during his uni/school days. he's had at LEAST one person confess to him before (if not more) and it went completely over his head—he gets flirted at and mistakes it for friendliness, etc. he watches shows and goes 'wow those characters are such great fr—oh. OH they LIKE each other???'

having said that I Do also think he's a good flirt but it's more light/playful/teasing and i bet half the time he doesn't realise he's doing it lol

Yes. This is exactly us. The house was made specifically to be cold all of the time with my room being the coldest. I don’t enjoy physical contact because I get overheated easily and the sweat is rather bothersome. Kaveh is the only one that manages to keep me comfortable. Once again your art is both accurate and beautiful. :)

I appreciate your clarification. I don’t understand why people would assume I would resort to killing Kaveh. That would only be more of an issue for me than anything. Am I that intimidating people believe I’m murderous?

I don't really have a theme or 'verse in mind. Maybe the corporate emails one or the professors one or the one where they're married and then they're exes and Nico is Jack's emergency contact. Or anything that your heart desires.

15. “I can’t believe you remembered.” 

The All Star Festival was only supposed to be a three-day weekend thing; arriving Friday for social stuff and set up, Captains a supporting act on Saturday and headlining Sunday, and then back to home base. Quinn was supposed to rescue him from the awkward roomie situation he's got with his ex-husband right now.

Jack may or may not still be kinda salty Nico's babysitting him over a tiny whack to the head. Understatement, the Luke-voice in his brain scolds.

But not that it's necessarily awkward, to be honest. Maybe just...quiet. Low-key. Old habits, new location. Same person, different interactions.

That's the part that surprises Jack the most, and still catches him off guard. The way he and Nico manage to fall into a routine, filling the gaps in each other's everyday tasks, moving in perfect tandem. Jack figuring out how Nico stocks his groceries now with ease, Nico arranging food on the table the way he knows Jack likes.

(What does that mean for them? Is that supposed to mean anything at all? What if Jack wants it to? Does Nico want that too?)

It's driving Jack slowly crazy, remnants of his concussion notwithstanding. But! At least he'll be free from this limbo soon, once his brothers fly back and see that he's actually fine and lets him go home.

And then the storm hits.

Strong winds, heavy rain, possibility of hail, and low-to-zero visibility conditions. All flights grounded. Dark clouds rolling in from the west coast, travelling absurdly fast over the central states overnight, and landing heavy on them on the other side of the continent.

Obviously Jack doesn't want the band and the crew flying home in that. Obviously he's telling them to take shelter and to keep an eye on Trevor, who's a twig and could get blown away.

Fuck you too, Jack, Trevor texts back in the group chat.

"Guess you're stuck here for a little while longer," Nico says quietly, staring at the rain that's already pelting down on the windows. Ever the organized guy, he's got candles and lighters and flashlights already set out, charged up a few extra power banks and filled up an extra container of water.

Jack watches his ex-husband watching the rain, and tries not to read too much into the way Nico simply lets him stay, and his own inexplicable feelings of relief and delight over it.

And then the thunder starts.

Jack hates thunderstorms. Hates them with a passion, hates the way the thunder shakes the floorboards beneath him, the way lightning flashes across the sky and throws creepy shadows all over the room. Hates the hair-raising way the noise rattles his whole body.

He stumbles out of the guest room, disheveled, not exactly sure where he's going in the dark apartment, and runs smack into Nico's (very shirtless) chest.

Nico catches him by the shoulders. "Hey, hey, easy--it's just me. Are you alright?"

"I'mfineI'mdoinggreat," Jack word vomits out, and he can see the way Nico immediately frowns.

"You're not," his ex-husband says, only matter-of-factly, not rudely, and he redirects Jack to the couch. Turns a lamp on, the lowest setting, and drapes one of the big fluffy blankets over Jack's shoulders. Then he goes into the kitchen and pulls out a bunch of stuff from the cupboards: two enormous mugs. Packets of chamomile tea. Organic honey. Two tiny sprigs of mint. One toasty-hot drink fixed up in record time and deposited in Jack's hands while Nico takes the seat opposite him.

"It's okay, Jack," he says softly. "The storm will pass. Just drink your tea. I've even got disposable ear plugs if it gets really loud."

In spite of all his experience crafting award-winning lyrics, the only thing Jack could stammer out is, "You--You made my mom's go-to tea combo for me."

"Yes...?" Nico says, confused. "It's the only thing you want during a storm. You told me before."

"I--I know I did. But you...remembered. I can't believe you remembered."

Lightning flashes again and thunder rumbles above them, but Jack only has eyes for Nico. Nico, who sighs very softly, fiddles with his mug, and meets his gaze sadly.

"You say that as if I could ever forget a single thing about you, Jack."

[ aka my favorite things, thanks. i could talk about these forever (especially enneagrams) but i forced myself to keep it to the point otherwise i’d ramble way too long ]

RIYA — she’s an ESTP + type 7 with a wing in 8 + several tarot cards associated with her but the tower (upright) and death (upright) are probably the most aligned with where she is currently in the campaign + was built to be aries-coded.

ELLANA — she's an ENFJ + a type 2 with a wing in 3 + strength tarot vibes + fellow aries girly.

GHILLY — INFJ + type 4 with a wing in 5 + i believe the hierophant was her tarot + she's a pisces babe 🥰

🎻 VIOLIN — does your oc play any instruments? what is their skill level (beginner/intermediate/advanced/virtuoso/etc)?

RIYA — tbh it does check out that Priscilla would want her children to learn an instrument or two (Loren would love it as well from an entertainment perspective), but i can't see Riya committing to anything long term. maybe she memorized an incredibly simple tune or two on the piano and that was deemed enough, her parents happy she at least tried to learn. 

ELLANA — maybe the drums? probably around intermediate level. it's not a skill she dedicated herself to, but one she picked up growing in her clan and participating in musical activities whenever they cropped up. 

GHILLY — i know she's a bard in dnd terms but she actually took some tools for her proficiencies instead of instruments to fit her backstory vibes better. so technically she's not super skilled in instruments, but i could still see her playing some fairly well! drums, flute, and lute come to mind without serious consideration what thedas elves are into. 

💘 HEART WITH ARROW — what and/or who do(es) your oc consider the most important to them?

RIYA — her family! other loved ones are close behind, but she’ll prioritize her family over anybody at the drop of a hat tbh (i'm sure this won't come into play during a 15 year blight at all and she'll never have to struggle between the two)

ELLANA — leading her life with empathy and gentleness for both others and herself. 

GHILLY — at the moment i'd say preserving history, though this might change a bit with some more time spent with her. for now it's right tho

😖 CONFOUNDED FACE — is your oc an introvert, an extrovert, or an ambivert? do they let people in easily, or are they more reserved?

RIYA — extrovert! if there's one thing about Riya, it's that she stay chattin’. she does let people in pretty easily, she's always been a very open lady. that ridiculous level of openness is balanced by her tendency to shut people out once she's had her feelings hurt (perceiving a slight, deciding she can't trust them anymore, getting insulted a little too deeply and not being able to ignore it in good humor, etc). 

ELLANA — i was going to say ambivert but i don't think it's true. she has troubles with voicing inner struggles to those outside of her inner circle, other than that she’s golden and quite sociable. can’t find the right way to word how she is at being open with others but it’s like,,,,she can be vulnerable with those she’s made connections with, but she’s not spilling her guts like Riya. she’s willing to be vulnerable with strangers and acquaintances to empathize with them, but she doesn’t make a habit of doing such a thing for casual chit-chat.

GHILLY — ambivert with more introverted tendencies, i’d say. Ghilly’s spent a majority of the last 12-13 years on her own (maybe had a handful of companions after her father, idk) and that's shaped a lot of her, but she still feels comfortable surrounded by others while staying with clans (the PeopleTM are supposed to stick together and thrive as a community after all). not very reserved, she'll let people in with little resistance if they match her vibes.

😥 SAD BUT RELIEVED FACE — is your oc prone to getting stressed out, or is it easy for them to keep their cool?

RIYA — she used to be so good at keeping her cool that it was genuinely worrisome (or annoying, depending who you ask) to others that she could remain chill and flirty, but uh. everything in the campaign so far has been out to shatter her sense of self and for months it's been getting harder to locate that cool with the mounting stress and trauma lmao. we'll see where she settles on this scale later down the line, i guess. right now she's struggling :)

ELLANA — very much a girly who you can't tell is stressing until the final straw lands and she's snapping because the burden is too much to bear in silence. those close to her can tell when she's treading that line because her warm and sunshine-filled smile comes across strained, doesn't light up her eyes as it usually does. 

GHILLY — she doesn't get stressed out that often, so i imagine when the feeling does come on she isn't the best at handling it.

if its in the drawing itself then i repeat hair a lot...... its the ultimate make or break detail when i draw methinks, esp when its the major identity of so many characters most of the time
