Children of the Gods: Chapter 8
Tumblr media
<< Previous Chapter || Next Chapter >>
Word Count: 6.5k
Genre: Greek Myth AU
Characters: EXO + BTS + Reader
A/N: It’s Thursday and I actually managed to remember that. He. Enjoy the update! I believe there are going to be ~13-14 chapters so we are reaching the end soon everyone!
You had spent the rest of the day in the infirmary with Yixing and Hoseok.
With the three of you spending time together again it felt like the old days. It was so easy to laugh with Hoseok and Yixing, the jokes Hoseok would tell were funny to begin with but it made it so much more funnier when you both had to take the time to explain it to Yixing because he didn’t understand. It had always been like that with you guys and you were glad to see that nothing had changed. Your friends were still your friends and no amount of war was going to change them from who they were.
When night fell Yixing had chased you both out, claiming that he needed rest and peaceful moments to himself every now and then. You didn’t fight him, you simply dragged Hoseok out of the infirmary and the two of you headed back to your respective cabins.
It was a beautiful night out. The sky was littered with stars, each one burning brightly in their own little solar system. Stars had always fascinated you, they were a bright light in the vast darkness of the world and no matter how far away they were you were still able to see them sparkle amongst the black sky.
You stopped in your tracks before you could reach your cabin and stared past the coliseum. You wanted some time to yourself, a place where you would be able to cast away your thoughts and just sit quietly. With Jin and Jungkook in the cabin you knew you would never get any quiet there; hopefully you could get it down there though. So you made your way down the hill, walking straight past your cabin and straight past the coliseum, only stopping when your feet hit the sand of the small beach. You had seen it off in the distance during archery practice but you didn’t think much of it.
It was a small inlet on the island that formed an oblong circular barrier almost, the small stretch of sand quickly fading underneath the hungry waves that lapped against the shore. You made your way closer to the water and sat down, staring out into the sea. You let the sounds of the waves clear your head and lull you into a peaceful state.
You couldn’t see the horizon anymore but you still found the beauty of the dark ocean captivating. The way the moon reflected off the water and turned the peaks of the waves white while the rest of the water remained black and featureless. There was so much mystery about the ocean; despite all the discoveries the world has made about space there is still so much more the world could learn about the ocean. It was clouded with glamors, the creatures living in there needed protection from the humans. Most of the creatures being protected were dying species anyways and we all know what humans do to new species.
“Can’t sleep?” You jumped at the sound of Jungkook’s voice right next to your ear. You whirled around to face him but fell backwards, you had misjudged how close his face was to yours. Luckily he was able to reach out and stop you from falling before your head hit the ground. “Whoa. Careful there.”
“How the hell do you not make any sound when you walk? We’re on a damn beach it’s not like you can move all the gracefully on sand.” You rolled your eyes when he laughed at you in response, his laughter dying on the ocean breeze and not getting far.
“I do make sound. Look.” He stood next to you and started hopping in the sand, his boots crunching on the sand and the indentations of his boots becoming more prominent each time. When he stopped he plopped right down beside you and gave you a huge smile. “Maybe you were just too lost in thought.”
“Alright I’ll give you that much. Thanks for ruining my quiet time by the way.” You turned away from him and leaned back on the palms of your hand, staring out at the ocean once again. He didn’t talk for a while and you found yourself shutting your eyes, riding yourself of the temptation to look over at Jungkook.
The two of you sat there for a few minutes before your arms grew tired of holding you up and you laid down instead, your eyes opening once more to stare at the sky. Instead of just the sky you could also see the back of Jungkook’s head, the soft brown curls looking black in the night. You giggled when he flung himself back, landing hard on his back in the sand next to you.
“I can see why you like it here. The sky is beautiful at night.” You watched as he lifted his hand in the air, spreading his fingers wide and letting the breeze flow through his fingers. You turned your head back towards the sky, watching the stars flicker a million miles away.
“It’s the stars for me.” You didn’t finish your thought. It would have been too much to speak it aloud. “The bright lights amongst the darkness.” You saw his head turn to face you, his hand falling to his side.
“Is that what you want?” Your eyes flew open and you locked your eyes with his. “To be like a star? A bright light in the darkness?” Your chest felt tight now and you seriously hated the fact the he could read you so easily. He turned on his side and propped his head up with his hand, giving you his full attention.
“I… I just don’t want the darkness to consume me. This war, I can feel it changing everything and it just seems to me like what little I had could very easily just be taken from me. I didn’t have much to begin with but I want to keep what I already have. I spent my whole life hiding in the shadows where no one can see me. I was too afraid to come out, to be happy.” You did your best to avoid his eyes, staring up at the sky instead as you spoke. When you stopped it fell quiet again, the sound of the waves being the only thing the two of you heard.
“Then don’t come out.” His voice was soft and quiet, deep and sincere. “You don’t have to come out of the shadows.”
“But no one would know. I’d be alone.” As much as you enjoyed being alone for a few minutes each day you hated the idea of being alone forever, it scared you.
“You won’t be. I would know.” Those six words had your heart racing as you turned your head to face him again. You couldn’t read the expression on his face but it was one you had never thought he would have. “You’re bright enough for me to see you.”
He was right. He had seen you that night, he had been able to tell exactly where you were even if he couldn’t see you physically. It had shocked you that night and it still surprised you even after he had told you how he saw you. You couldn’t hide from him and a part of you didn’t want to hide from him.
“Jungkook… “ your words stopped dead when he reached out, his fingers threading through your hair as he pushed it back. You held your breath as you stared at him wide eyed. What was happening?
“It’s ok to be afraid. This war was brought upon us against our will and now we have to try and fix things. Things are going to change and I’m afraid not for the better. We have lost so many people already and we’re only going to lose more.” He paused then, his eyes looking away from yours before he continued talking. “I just don’t want to lose you.”
Your heart was thundering in your chest now and your whole body ignited like it was on fire. You had never felt this way about a guy before, sure you had found a couple attractive but none of them had ever been able to make you feel this nervous. It had never felt like electricity running through your veins when they touched you.
“You won’t lose me. I’m not going anywhere Jungkook.” He gave you a small smile at that, his eyes still avoiding yours but his hand falling from your face.
“We should get back. We both could use the rest.” A part of you was disappointed that the moment was ending but you nodded in agreement, not sure where you stood with Jungkook. Was that just a one time thing or was it going to happen more often when you two were alone?
You stood up and brushed yourself off, not all of the sand would be gone but you could easily take a shower once you got back to the cabin. Distancing yourself was probably the best option right now so you did just that. You took a few step away from him as he rose off the ground, dusting the sand off of his body as well and even shaking his hair out.
The walk back to the cabin was completely silent and the two of you didn’t even bother to look at each other again. Maybe he was just trying to make you feel better and that spark you had felt between the two of you was one sided. You knew you were insane for falling for someone during a war but you couldn’t help it. Everything about Jungkook drew you in and captivated you like a moth to light.
“There you guys are! I thought you may have switched cabins on me.” Jin’s voice rang out happily as you entered the cabin and you couldn’t keep the smile off your face as you made your way to your bed.
“Sorry Jin. I needed to get some quiet time. I didn’t realize how late it was.” The locker door creaked as you opened it up, gathering all the toiletries you had gotten from the camp supply. A nice long hot shower was called for right now. “I’m about to take a while in the shower if you guys need the bathroom before that.”
“Actually someone is taking a shower right now so you will have to wait for them.” Jin spoke nonchalantly and your body stiffened. You looked up toward the bathroom and saw Jungkook stiff as well, his eyes shooting towards the bathroom door and then darting about the cabin for more information.
You were about to ask if he was being serious, because you didn’t hear the water running even if you were concentrating, but the bathroom door swung open silently. There stood a man, who couldn’t be that much taller than you, right in the doorway frozen with his towel wrapped around his waist and hanging low. He obviously was not aware that you two would be joining you guys and quite frankly you had never been more embarrassed to be in a cabin full of boys.
You were the one that was fully dressed but as your eyes raked down the man’s body you couldn’t help but feel embarrassed. His body was fucking beautiful and it even matched his face too. He had a prominent jaw and perfect eyebrows that arched up at the sight of you and Jungkook. His torso was ripped and his abs flexed every time he simply breathed in the air. Was that even something that was possible? You had seen Jimin muscular and shirtless before but he didn’t hold a candle to this guy.
“Who are these guys?” When he spoke his voice was what seemed to be high pitched but you couldn’t deny the undertones of his deep voice. The only way you could really describe it was musical. Every rise of pitch gave more emotion to his words than anyone you had ever crossed paths with before.
“Oh. They are in this cabin too. They were here when I got here.” Jin was now laying in his bed with the cover over his lap as he watched everyone. It was almost funny because he looked like he could be watching a reality television show with the look he had on his face.
“Well it’s nice to meet you guys. My name is Xiumin son of Eros.” at that Jin perked up considerably, the sight of a super distant family member making him a little more excited than someone would consider normal.
It was a little weird trying to figure out family trees amongst demigods. But you knew that the relationship between Jungkook, Jin, and Xiumin was one of the most clear relationships you can be. Aphrodite and Ares had Eros which in turn eventually had Xiumin. In some weird kind of way that made Jungkook and Jin Xiumin’s uncles.
You shook your head and gathered your things, heading towards the bathroom and making sure to avoid looking at Xiumin’s body any longer. You didn’t want to seem like a pervert after all. Thankfully he saw what you were doing and stepped out of your way to let you into the bathroom.
“I’ll try not to be too long.” You mumbled a response as you shut the door and afterwards you could hear Jungkook shouting after you.
“Don’t take all that hot water! I need a shower too!” you placed your things on the kitchen sink and started to strip your clothes before you heard all three men laughing hysterically. A little part of you was curious if they were talking about you or if they had made a joke about what Jungkook had said. Then again it could just be male bonding time.
You tired to stay true to your word but the shower ended up being a little over thirty minutes. You had got lost in thought and had let the hot water run over your body freely instead of trying to actively scrub yourself clean for a while. When you climbed out you had wrapped the towel around you and stood there for another eight minutes lost in your head. You managed to eventually peel on the sweats and t-shirt Jungkook had provided you that one night and make your way out of the bathroom, your stuff bundled in your hand.
The lights were all out and you could hear Jin peacefully sleeping in his bed, his breathing heavy and slow, rhythmic almost. There were moments when his breathing would stop for a really long time and you wouldn’t know what was wrong or not until a soft long exhale followed.
You made it back to your bed and noticed that Xiumin had chosen the bed next to yours. You couldn’t tell if he was sleeping or not so you tried to quietly open the door of your locker. You managed to do it with only one short squeak and you grinned to yourself, feeling triumphant in your small accomplishment. You quickly put your things in place and slid into your bed, the covers enveloping you in the soft cotton. The mattress however was cold, unused the entire day and awaiting the warmth of your body.
“It’s nice to meet you.” The same time you heard Xiumin speak out you saw a beam of light reflect off the ceiling and you knew Jungkook had quietly slipped into the bathroom.
“It’s nice to meet you too. I’m sure Jin and Jungkook already told you who I am.”
“Yeah, they did. Jungkook also mentioned that you were good with a bow.” How did he know that? You don’t remember ever showing him before. “Maybe you could train with me sometime?”
“Maybe. But I have to admit that I’m not the best. I had to learn my skills from someone else you know.” You smiled to yourself as images of Hoseok training you ruthlessly flickered in your head. They may have been horribly long hours of training but you were thankful nonetheless.
“Didn’t you learn it at the academy?” You could hear the confusion in his voice as he tried to make sense of what you had said. Of course that would have been his first thought and you didn’t blame him much. Most people probably thought you were a daughter of Apollo with your archery skills. You had told most people however that you were unclaimed and you had no idea as to who your godly parent was. Little did they know your parent was a complete ass and worked constantly with dead people.
“No a friend taught me archery more than I learned at the academy. He’s a son of Apollo. I’ll introduce you sometime.”
“Cool.”
You didn’t respond after that. The two of you fell into completely silence and sooner or later you heard the rhythmic deep breathing of Xiumin sleeping mix in with Jin’s breathing. You closed your eyes and curled up in your bed, pulling the covers above your head and shutting out the other sounds. It wasn’t long before sleep pulled you into its clutches and dragged you down into the abyss of your unconscious mind.
You were pulled out of your fitful sleep when a hand gripped your arm. You jerked awake and brought your arm up, pulling it out of the grasp of the stranger and sending you into a fit of panic. Your free arm shot out from underneath your pillow, your dagger clutched tightly in your hand as you swung it out.
A strong gripped latched onto yours in the darkness and your panic rose more. They were taking advantage of your sleep drunken state. Without even thinking you slipped into the shadow, shielding yourself away from your attacker as their grip on your wrist disappeared.
With newfound clarity you looked up, your vision in the shadows looking clear as day despite the darkness that still encompassed you. There you saw Jungkook standing above you, his hair mussed and his eyes droopy as he just stared right at you. He was wearing one of his many oversized t-shirts, his collarbones showing above the collar of his shirt as it fell down low. You knew exactly how big his shirt were, you wore one to bed every night and you had to let the back hang down so you wouldn’t reveal anything to anyone.
You let out a sigh at last as you slid the knife back under your pillow, the grogginess fading away and pushing away the thoughts of your dream. The blood was still plastered along your vision and you shook your head to try and chase it away again. You weren’t expecting it when Jungkook’s warm hands cupped your face, his body sinking down next to your bed quietly.
“Come out. Let me see you.” His voice was barely even a whisper and his hands adjusted on your face, his hands cupping more of your jaw as his thumbs ran across your cheeks. You hadn’t noticed you didn’t come back yet so you willed yourself to step out of the shadows, pass the curtain that you always kept close out of fear. “There you are.”
“Sorry. I didn’t realize.” Jungkook’s eyes were now able to focus completely on yours, the sleep you had seen in them earlier slowly being chased away the longer he stayed awake.
His hands left your face when he turned around, his eyes scanning Xiumin’s bed of any sign of him waking up. Satisfied with the results he turned back around to face you but he rose from the squat he had been in. With a cautious speed he lifted your covers and slid into the bed next to you, the heat of his body causing you to instantly warm up.
You let your head fall onto the pillow as he held his up with his hand. You were still exhausted, the fitful sleep you had just been in did nothing to help you and all you wanted at that moment was to wrap your arms around Jungkook and fall back asleep. Your guard was down and you knew it. You would have never been comfortable with him climbing into your bed like this if you hadn’t been so tired.
“What were you dreaming about?” You winced at that, flashes and memories of the dream plaguing your mind once again. You must have woken him up because of your nightmare.
“War.” You didn’t have to say anything else for him to understand. You knew he would understand because he was the only person alive who would know what you were thinking. The only person alive that could see you in the shadows.
He didn’t speak again but he reached out, his hand gently threading through you hair and his fingers slowly trailing down your scalp. You sucked in a breath when his fingers pressed into your upper neck, the soft pads of his fingers gently massaging your neck. It didn’t take you long at all for him to put you back to sleep. The only thought on your mind when you slipped back into the clutches were of his fingers on your neck, magically chasing your thoughts away.
You woke up for the second time that day and stretched out in your bed, your arms stretching above your head and your legs spreading out along the width of the bed as if you were making a bed angel. You felt refreshed and you basked in the sunlight streaming down on your face through the small windows of the cabin.
You didn’t want to open your eyes because you wanted to stay in bed, wanted to enjoy one of the few luxuries you had at this camp. Back at the academy training had started before dawn and everyone had to haul their asses out of bed and put on their armor first thing. Breakfast wasn’t until after the first two classes you had. Here though it seemed the dining room was always open and food was always pouring out of it.
“Get up.” A pout grew on your face immediately as you heard Jungkook’s voice from across the cabin. You spun in your bed and curled up into a ball, not wanting to be awake at that moment.
You could hear him shuffling around near his bed, the soft thuds of his feet falling into his shoes till everything went quiet. His normal grace with which he moved silencing everything he ever did that would normally make a sound. Flashes of earlier played in your mind, the feel of his fingers carding through your hair and massaging your neck till you fell asleep. You remembered the buzz that was always there when he touch you and set your skin on fire.
“I said get up.” You nearly jumped out of your skin, your eyes flying open to see Jungkook kneeling down and his face hovering by yours.
“Goodness gracious Jungkook!” Connecting his face with the palm of your hand you pushed him away and rolled onto your back once more. “Why do you always scare me like that?”
“Because I find it entertaining to watch you freak out.” The smile on his face made him light up and gave his face a more childish look, the usual barrier he put up having disappeared and leaving him vulnerable. “Come on get up. I’m hungry and I want to go get breakfast with you.”
“Alright fine.” You didn’t pay attention to him as he cheered.
You sat up in your bed and reached over, pulling your armor out of your locker before climbing out of bed. You headed back to the bathroom and shut the door behind you. You took a deep breath once you knew you were safe. You were starting to really like Jungkook and not in the way you liked Hoseok, Jimin, and Yixing. Everything about him pulled you in and left you feeling dazed and captivated. It was like he was hypnotizing you whenever he was around you.
You moved to the sink and splashed water in your face, clearing your mind of the image of Jungkook in bed with you last night. You moved about the bathroom and got ready for the day, leaving your hair down this time and running your damp hands through your hair to make it look presentable.
When you walked out of the bathroom you saw Jungkook lounging on your bed, his old dagger in his hands as he spun it around. The dagger rested effortlessly between his two hands, the tip of the dagger resting against his index finger of his right hand and the fingers of his left hand skillfully spinning the hilt around. How the hell was he not cutting his finger off?
“Ah finally ready!” Jungkook’s eyes had caught yours and he bounded out of your bed, the sheets perfectly made underneath him. So he made your bed too? Ok that was a little weird. He walked over to you and slid the dagger into the scabbard wrapped around your thigh. “Let’s go get something to eat.” He spun around and started walking out of the cabin, his hands sliding into his pockets.
“Why did you make my bed?” His strides were a lot longer than yours and you noticed that you had to walk faster to keep up with him.
“Because I knew you wouldn’t. You’re messy.” A small pout formed on your lips at that because you knew he was right and you guessed he didn’t really like being messy all that much. When he spoke up again you weren’t looking at him but you could tell he had a smile on his face. “It’s always best to keep your things organized here. You never know what could happen.”
After breakfast with Jin, Xiumin, and Jungkook you headed to the coliseum. Jungkook had somehow managed to convince you to train with him today while Jin and Xiumin trained at the archery range. You knew that training with someone else was a lot more helpful and personally you didn’t mind having to spend more time with Jungkook alone. You liked having him near you now. Not that you would ever tell him that though. Jungkook walked silently beside you as you made your way through the many layers of the coliseum towards the middle where you two would practice. Most people didn’t practice here so you weren’t surprised to find it empty; most of the demigods here trained in larger groups in the open fields with an instructor like you would have back at the academy.
“Clear your head would you? That won’t go well with your training now will it?” Thoughts fled your mind when you noticed Jungkook wagging a dagger in front of your face, his eyebrows arched in accusing manner.
“Sorry. What are we doing today?” You took a step back and watched as he spun the dagger around on his fingers, clearly satisfied that he now had your full attention.
“I’m going to teach you how to properly use that dagger. It’s a wonderful weapon if you know how to use it right.” You chuckled softly and unsheathed your dagger, holding it lightly in your hand.
“I know how to use a dagger.”
“No you don’t.” There was a short pause and a short burst of rage filled you. Who was he to tell you about your abilities? “You yield a weapon reluctantly. From what I have witnessed you are very skilled and trained in the techniques but you do not use the weapon as it was meant to be used.” Your rage fizzled down as you let him explain himself.
“I don’t understand.”
“A sword and a dagger are meant to be used as an extension of your arm. You shouldn’t use them as a weapon that you use. The weapon should be a part of you and only then will you be able to use a dagger or a sword properly.” The way he spoke about it was as if he already had endless years of training when you knew he was close to your age. “It’s the same as the way you yield your bow. You use the bow as if it is a part of you and that is why you are so good at it.”
“I never thought of it that way.” Your eyes were wide as you stared at him. He was right though, you never had second thoughts when using a bow. The minute you picked one up you felt confident and empowered and it came easily to you as if it was as normal as breathing.
“That’s because no one had ever taught you.” Jungkook moved closer to you, switching his hands and holding his dagger with his left hand instead. He reached out and grabbed the hand that was holding your dagger. “You need to adjust your grip. When your arm is hanging down at your side the dagger shouldn’t stick out perpendicular to your body, let it hang like your arm is.”
Jungkook had officially intrigued you now in your training and you listened attentively. He was more skilled than you and you weren’t going to deny it, so what harm would a little training from him do? You hung your arm by your side when he released your hand and adjusted your grip, letting the tip of the dagger point down towards the ground.
“Good. Get used to this feeling because you always want your dagger to feel like an extension of your arm, not as something you must use to defend yourself.” You nodded your head eagerly.
“Alright. Are you going to teach me any moves?” Jungkook’s chuckle brought a small smile to your face and he distanced himself from you once again.
“I already told you that you know all the techniques when fighting with a dagger. You just need to change your thinking when you fight.” He moved his dagger to his right hand again and pushed his feet apart, the fine dirt of the ground puffing up in a small cloud around his feet. He solidified his stance and plastered a smirk on his face. “Come at me.”
You didn’t need to be told twice. You sprung into action, your body tensing for a split second before all the tension released at once like a bow releasing an arrow to fly. Your grip tightened on your dagger and you lunged toward Jungkook, your foot sliding between his legs and your arm shooting up towards his torso.
Your dagger should have come up short by Jungkook’s torso but he wasn’t there anymore. He had spun away from you; he kicked off with one foot and spun on the other, putting himself behind you. As he had spun his hand had shot out and grabbed your free hand, twisting your arm behind you as well. Effortlessly bending your arm and pinning it against your lower back. His hand with the dagger came up as well and his dagger stopped just short of your lower ribs, the tip pressing lightly against your armor.
“Don’t move. Look at the way you’re holding your dagger.” You listened and your eyes shot down to your dagger. The dagger was just in front of you, your fingers wrapped tightly around the hilt and turning your knuckles white because of your grip. “Now look at mine.” Your eyes trailed down until you found his hand lightly holding the dagger. HIs hand was relaxed but his arm was taut as he held the blade against you.
“Again.”  His grip released you and he lightly pushed you forward. You spund around and got ready to lunge again, getting into a good position this time that would give you advantage. You waited for him to position himself as well.
You lunged again but this time you fell face forward into the ground, your arms failing to catch you because of the dagger in your hand. You picked yourself up on your elbows and spit out the dirt that had made it into your mouth.
“You’re thinking too much about your movement now. Relax and trust your body, attack me don’t lunge for me. Again.” You wiped off your face with your sleeve before moving to get up.
You shot a glance backwards and saw him already in position and your leg shot out, swiping around towards his ankles at a fast pace. Your leg started to hook, your inner knee hooking around his ankle before his foot disappeared. He waited till the last minute to avoid your attack so you wouldn’t have a chance to adjust yourself and get him anyways. His foot shot out and knocked your hand from underneath you and you went sprawling out on the ground again.
The force of your kick had spun your body and you landed on your back instead, twisted and lying at an awkward angle. You saw Jungkook kneel down next to you and your arched your back in pain, hissing and turning onto your side. His dagger hung limply in his hand and it was directed straight at your face as he stared down at you.
“Again.” His voice held a hint of amusement in it and you found yourself hating that word already.
The two of you fell into a trance, lunging at and avoiding each other as you worked to finally get the upper hand on him. The only thing he said to you now was again and each time it made you clench your jaw in annoyance. He was avoiding your attacks easily and most of the time he didn’t even bother to try and counter attack, he simply avoided.
It wasn’t much of a move but you had finally attacked in a blind rage, the annoyance having reached it’s peak and you swung out at him. Your vision had gone blurry as you attacked and your arm swung out automatically and your foot collided into his ankle. It sent him falling toward the ground and he moved to quickly twist around but your dagger and had fallen right above his throat. Laying there on the ground his breath was finally labored as he stared at the dagger above his throat. Images became clearer and you stared down at him, the flare of rage having cooled down considerably.
“Nicely done.” His voice was strained and his eyes shot towards yours. You locked eyes with him and you opened your mouth to speak but nothing came out. The look on his face was confusing you and you had no idea what he could possibly be thinking. His lips were parted slightly and his eyes were wide as he stared at you. Was he shocked that someone was finally able to knock him on his ass?
“Thanks.” Sound finally came out of your mouth but it was none of the questions you wanted to ask him. Your arm fell to your side and you sat down on the ground fully to catch your breath.
He exploded into movement as if he was moving to take advantage of your moment of weakness. But he wasn’t attacking you, his dagger fell from his hands and they reached to your face, cupping your cheeks and pulling you towards him. His lips collided with yours, the sudden act sending electrical currents throughout your entire body.
You couldn’t move, you hadn’t been expecting this in the least and needless to say the kiss was a little awkward. His lips were hard against yours and unmoving as if he wasn’t sure of what he was doing either. The warmth he provided disappeared when his lips left yours. His hands linger, his thumbs gently brushing against your cheeks.
“Jungkook… “ Of course he didn’t let you finish; his lips were on yours again but this time they were gentle, gliding along yours as he kissed you. The ice you had felt before faded quickly and you melted into the kiss, your eyes sliding shut as you kissed him back.
You rose to your knees as he tried to move closer to you, rising to his knees himself. Without thinking about it your hands gripped his side and your dagger clattered to the ground. His hand slid to the back of your head as he held your head still, tilting his head to the side as he kissed you.
You suddenly felt like you were floating and you would have continued to kiss him if you hadn’t remembered where you were. You pulled away from him and smiled when his lips chased after yours, his eyes sliding open only to watch where you went. You let the giggle that bubbled up in your chest push it’s way out as your hands slid up to his face to stop him.
“Jungkook calm down. Someone could see us.” He stopped at that, as if all his common sense came flooding back in at once. You watched the vulnerable look on his face become shielded once again as he changed his position. He didn’t move away from you but his hands fell to your waist instead. “What was that about?” You had to know. There was no way you were going to let him get away without an explanation.
“You’re perfect.” His voice was soft and his breath fanned across your face as he spoke in the soft whisper.
“I’m not perfect.” You shook your head, strands of hair falling in your face as you tilted your head down towards the ground.
“You’re perfect to me.” He lifted your face to look at him again and his hand moved to push your hair out of your face, his fingers trailing through your hair like they had done yesterday and early this morning. “I’ve never met someone as amazing as you. You’re strong and threatening but your caring and afraid.” The fact that he said you were afraid wasn’t exactly ideal but then he continued to talk. “You use your fear in amazing ways and you use it to make yourself stronger instead of letting it crumble you.”
The more he spoke the more you rested your body against his, using him as a means of support. In a way you were letting him carry your worries and letting him hold you in his hands, giving everything to him to do as he pleased. You pushed your lips against his again, molding them together for a couple of blissful seconds before you pulled away again.
“If I let my fears crumble me there would be no one left to stop this war. I know what needs to be done and I am doing everything in my power to do it. I just need help. I can’t do it all on my own Jungkook.” His eyes never left yours for a second but his body tensed. He must have been reluctant to help you, this wasn’t exactly an ideal situation but you needed him with you. If anyone was going to help you stop this it was going to be Jungkook.
“Ok.” Ok? Ok what? Your eyes went wide and your heart soared as the two syllable word. “I’ll help you. I’ll do whatever I can to help you. I’ll do it for you. I’ll do anything for you.”
There wasn’t much else you needed to hear him say. Jeon Jungkook was on your side.
