the thing about doctor/river that i don’t ship is that i just think river suffers from having her entire character so intrinsically tied to the doctor that she lacks any real depth because we never spend enough time to see her outside of Sexy Girlboss!

#LET ME EXPLAIN. every companion is tied to the doctor. it’s a given. but they’re given enough screen time and at least some form of care or #love by their creators to show their personality that’s not just about loving the doctor. martha was headstrong and so fucking smart #rose walks into a new planet and basically asks if they’re unionized 😭 like the audience gets to SEE how they interact with people other #than the doctor in meaningful ways ‼️ but because of her arc we NEVER get the chance to really see her bc her timeline means that we #are always out of time with her too. it’s a classic show don’t tell. we’ve been told she loves the doctor. but why? what is there that’s #like TRULY meaningful about how she loves the doctor. anyway.
