top gun workouts - hollywood

well after a hiatus partially due to my unenthusiasm about working out due to my own injury, we finally have another top gun workout :D

Warning: This series discusses and hypotheses the workout routines and potential diets of the top gun characters.

Now, we're getting further down the list of characters which means we are getting to the harder characters to discuss due to their lack of shirtless screen time. But hollywood had a surprising amount to work with.

The first standing shot of Hollywood, we see that he's a pretty normal looking dude. He's got more mass than Goose, clearly, with a nice set of shoulders and a pretty good forearm on him.

Even before his 1 shirtless scene, we see a little bit of Wood's figure if we look closely. Now the uniforms are pretty tight anyway, but that's a nicely shaped quad and we can see a line beneath the inseam, it may just be the fabric but we might have a nice hamstring too.

Again, Wood's got some good forearms.

But the locker room is the cream of the crop and Wood does not disappoint. I'll ease you guys into it. Traps are on point, boulder shoulders, a decent chest (which if you've seen the rest of the series you'll know that it's hard to come by a built chest in top gun). Overall, not too shabby. But then he shakes Goose's hand.

Sit down. Fuck me (not literally). Wood's back is BUILT. Bro is not like Slider in terms of sheer mass, but he's way more defined than most of the cast. Yes he is flexing here but if you see in the next photo down.

His left side which is relaxed still shows muscle definition at rest. Nicely built back Wood, those shoulders are fantastic as well as those laterals. Also! Those triceps.

And really, he needs some congratulations for being one of the only cast members to hit chest. But moreover, we see a phat ass. Hollywood squats and it shows. He's got a strong core, good quads, one of the biggest asses at top gun. His calves though, they're sad.Sorry.

Nutritional king

Overall, Hollywood looks like you gave someone the blue-print to Hollywood's physique for actos. He's not top heavy (like slider is), excellently defined upper body however his legs aren't neglected. Key points, like chest and triceps which are normally forgotten. Overall, bro slayed.

Exercises

Compound lifts (squats, bench, deadlift) and acessories, (hamstrings, isometrics etc)

Not a runner with those legs but more likely to be a rower or swimmer

Top Gun Ring Designs

So everyone knows I'm a Top Gun (Maverick) Fanboy and well

My current ADHD hyperfixation is Right Angled Weave Ring making, and so...

I made ring designs for my favorite characters' helmets!

Just as I had designed bracelets when I first got my seed beads, I had to design rings when I re-got into my seed beads!

Uhhhhh feel free to use if you make rings. I'm gonna make them this week, and I hope to do at least one a day.

At the Miramar Shatterdome. Marshal Viper summons Rick Neven and Leonard Wolfe in his office. He has important news for the two Junior Ranger Pilots.

Viper: Gentlemen. I’m happy to inform you the results of both your physical and mental compatibility are excellent. As such, you two characters are going to be our new first pair of Jaeger pilots.

[Hollywood and Wolfman exchange happy grins and are this close to do a victory dance in the middle of the Marshal’s office. A stern look from Viper talks them out of it, even though the old man is secretly quite proud of his snakelets.]

Viper: Before officially launching your Jaeger, you need to give them a proper name. So, I invite you to think about it carefully. Gentlemen, I’ll leave you to it. And congratulations.

[Back to their private quarters, the two men start brainstorming ideas, and they’re getting wilder and wilder about it.]

Hollywood: ‘Kay, Leo. How ‘bout WalkofWolf?

Wolfman: Nice one, Rick. I’ll write it down. AlphaWood?

Hollywood: GlamourPack?

Wolfman: WolvenBoulevard?

Hollywood: ChewyFang!

Wolfman: ChewyFang? I get the fang part, but what’s the deal with ‘chewy’?

Hollywood: Chewy for Chewing-gum. [dramatic pause] Chewing-gum. Hollywood Chewing-gum.

Wolfman: Love your sticky sense of humour, Mr Bond.

Hollywood: Say you just love me, Leo.

Wolfman: I do. I do love you.

Wolfman: Oh, I know! FurryHolly.

Hollywood: Noooooo. Too suggestive!

Wolfman, grinning: You think? You know I don’t mind, babe!

Hollywood, with a challenging look:  What about KnottingWood?

Wolfman: Notin’Wood? Lame!

Hollywood: K-N-O-T-T-I-N-GWood.

Wolfman: HA! I dare you to say that to Viper’s face. You dare to and I accept your suggestion.

Hollywood, with a wince: Okay. Probably Not. What if we each say a name at the same time and our Jaeger’s name will be a mix of the two?

Wolfman: You got it, Ri-Ri. 3. 2. 1!

Hollywood: MateFornia!

Wolfman: LAFurring!

Hollywood and Wolfman, staring at each other and mentally communicating: CaliFurrnia!

[So be it. Rick Neven and Leonard Wolfe to be the first new pair of Ranger Pilots with their CaliFurrnia Jaeger! They leave their quarters, hand in hand, and decide to go bother their teammates…]

🌟Almost Gone on ao3

Hi TG Fandom!!!! 

(Climbing out of my work cave with this little AU, since I haven't had any free time to write BUT I did get some snazzy new forearm crutches to use when I teach and give lectures so this dude is winning at life tbh). 

Weird stuff starts happening when they're about a week into Top Gun. 

All the flyboys are trying to befriend Maverick, but he's making it impossible. That, or the guy just has selective amnesia. 

Wolfman tries to talk to him in the lunch line, but the sleep-deprived Maverick in front of him just walks right past him… in the wrong uniform? Is that a priest’s collar?

Hollywood has something similar happen to him, when he goes on a jog and bumps into Maverick pushing a baby in a stroller. A sleeping baby with a red pacifier in it’s mouth and a small girl with pigtails skating beside him. And is he wearing rollerblades too?? Hollywood tries to stop him in surprise, but Maverick shoots him a dirty look and keeps skating, tugging his kids closer. Rude.

Slider and Ice have their own trippy experience when they have to go to medbay because Ice twisted his ankle again — the man refuses to tape it properly — and another doctor pops in to grab a chart and it’s Maverick???

“Mitchell, what the hell?” Slider snaps, neither of them thinking Maverick was old enough to be double-certified. 

But Maverick looks stunned and very confused. “I’m sorry to interrupt, but I needed this?” 

He keeps that weird look on his face as he ducks out the door and when they ask him about it in training, he just gives them the same weird look! 

It comes to a head when Chipper and Sundown see Maverick talking with another officer and walking down the hall one minute. Then, they duck into the hangar and Maverick is sitting right at his desk, chatting to Goose. 

It has to be a massive prank, it has to be!

Until they finally confront Maverick and Goose about it, and Mav turns bright red, while Goose can't stop laughing to save his life. He's honking and wheezing up a storm. 

“Oh God,” Goose finally gasps out, “The boys are never going to let you hear the end of this. You forgot to tell them!”

“Well, it wasn't the first thing that jumped to mind! Teddy isn't even Navy!”

Goose thwacks his pilot upside the head. “Lynds, Mal and Kiff work on the same base as us!” For the greater flyboy population he finally adds, “Identical quintuplets.”

Yessireee, five whole Mavericks, exactly what the world needed. 😂

I'm still not over the lines the writers gave to the women of tg to lessen the impact of Jaehaerys murder. "The child is dead, his pain has ended...", "children die all the time"... What people would even talk like that about the murders of their loved one, let alone their son and grandson? Why do they talk about Jaehaerys, who lived for 4 years with them, as if he was some kid they barely knew and who died of some illness rather than the horrific beheading his mother witnessed? Why are neither of the women allowed to be angry at Daemon and they simply ignore his involvement? It makes no sense.

This!!!! All this. Probably from all the things this show have done this is one of the things that bother me the most.

If you take as face value, it supposed show their lack of understanding of grief and lost. Because people are not that logical. And a lot of the times the death of someone, is less about the death of this person and more about the pain of someone loosing a loved one.

Also the whole circumstances. Is one thing when someone dies from an illness or old age. But murder it affects people in a completely different level. The way those writers wrote the reaction of people to jaehaerys' death is more close to an "unfortunate case", is closer to the reaction of someone dying from a accident or illness or even old age. They were in mourning, but there is acceptance.

When someone is murdered, there is a sense, a feeling, this loved one, was TAKEN from them, there is a feeling of injustice, anger, the pain cut deeper, because nothing can bring you the acceptance. Only justice.

So, I don't know the reason why they wrote this way. Could be because, they never go though that, and they can't sympathize, and make sense because Hollywood writers are trap in a echo chamber of their own privilege lives. Could be also a political statement, because Alicent and Rhaenyra are wrote to be very feminine and emotional, and they thought this was misogynistic. And so they fall under the same mistake D & D fell when writing women as sociopath on their show to portray a strong woman. Could also mean that didn't fit with the arc they want those characters to go though so simply brushed off as was nothing.

Either way they being unable to incorporate this to the characters show their incompetence as writers.

A few things I’ve noticed when speaking to people about Top Gun: Maverick, one is that a lot of people say Hangman is the new Iceman.

I disagree.

Jake is more Mav than Ice, he flys recklessly, fast, risky and cockily. He’s introduced as someone who thinks he’s the best and acts like he has something to prove, much like how we’re introduced to Mav. He sits at the front of the class, he instigates and goads others, he’s even put as dagger spare and saves the day like Mav.

One scene that stands out is Mav saying “leaving your wingman? That’s a strategy I have seen in a while.” Because he used to do it, in TG he leaves Hollywood and Wolfman even when Goose tells him not to. Hangman breaks off and tries to chase down Mav like he did to Viper which ended with both teams getting toned.

If anyone is more like Iceman it’s Rooster. Rooster is more reserved flying, he’s more calculated and more calm(other than flying against Mav) he doesn’t mess around in the air, no banter or witty jabs.

What I believe people see from Hangman is that he’s blonde and egotistical which was Ice in the beginning and they automatically label him as Ice 2.0. I believe that all the Daggers represent a little bit of each of the original Flyboys in some way. Another example Coyote is a little bit like Goose, he’s the more grounded yet still fun loving counter to Hangman’s maverick-esque style.
