hey what's up with ponk's lemon trees
I watched ponk's s1 dsmp videos on his channel + that Quackity-Ponk interaction referenced from ponk's august 16th lore stream
taken from "How I Scammed Quackity on the Dream SMP", "Dream SMP Lemon City Explained", "I kidnapped WHO on the Dream SMP!?", & "Quackity Builds the First Church in the Dream SMP" [convo starts around 1:28:30]
here's what i learned + some conclusions I made:
- quackity and ponk's interactions have one thing in common and that's ponk believing that quackity is some sort of witch (and that's usually through q using a voice filter)
- ponk was distrustful of church prime during its founding
- there's also these interesting convos from that stream:
"Hey Ponk, what would happen if I suddenly burned this tree down?" "The Mandem (???) will get you," "Who's 'Amandem?'" "You don't wanna know." "Is it you?" "It's a group of people, [spoken over] it's a collective."
and this one:
"I'm fucking dead! This my spirit speaking to you," "Dude, you left a mess!" "No, what the fuck?! I'm dead! Aren't you worried about me actually being fucking dead?!" "No," "Why?! But I'm a good man!" [spoken over] "The lemon god will resurrect you," "Excuse me? What the fuck is that supposed to mean?!" [spoken over too] "because our god's real. You'll be back." "I'll be back? No can resurrect b-but the Lord of Church Prime." [also spoken over] "Church Prime...is a cult!" "That's a great thing-that's the great thing about--" "Cult!" [Quackity is dumbfounded.] "Yeah, I didn't stutter, didn't I? I tell you the truth!"
- this is not the first time ponk has pranked sam into thinking he's killed fran; h-how did Ponk come to doing that a second time?
- animal sacrifice is intrinsic to the power of the lemon tree
- the spirit of the lemon trees are traced to a force named mother citrus; according to mother citrus, murdering cats is good luck
- hbomb and ponk's relationship has been tied to animal death huh
- adding the Tales lore about Jack the Potato farmer, something has to be said about the above lemon tree lore and the fact that village murderer Jack started the earliest known lemon tree planting tradition in Ponk's family
- included in TfTSMP: The Village that Went Mad's Jack the Potato Farmer lore is the magical stranger that eerily resembles Foolish that Jack met and received both magical gifts and knowledge of ancient magic from; he mentions that "the stranger" has taken interest in the lemons he began planting
- assuming this stranger IS Foolish, then there's something significant about the lemon trees' connection to death and resurrection; Foolish does demand sacrifices too
- Ponk's current goal is to resurrect Sacrifice! He's involved both Foolish and HBomb in this attempt! Cats and death just have that weird link, do they?
(Any extra thoughts, @prismartist? because I know you're the one behind that Dream SMP Cats & Death essay)

As much as I love the idea of present members of the smp as the ghosts of Karl’s tftsmp haunted mansion episode, wouldn’t it be great if it were the people from The Village that Went Mad or from the Masquerade?? Like, imagine seeing Helga again! Imagine seeing James, Miles, Oliver, Jimmy, Robin, Corpse the cat, Liaria, and Jack the potato farmer in the same room! Imagine the pure chaos that would come out of that lmaooooo
And it wouldn’t be much of a mystery why all those ghosts were together in the same place despite not dying in there together at the same time, because they all died to the same thing! They all indirectly died to the Egg. It’s obvious for the ghosts from the Masquerade, but maybe you don’t know the truth behind the Village that Went Mad.
If you watch Ponk’s streams, then you’ll know that his character Jack the Potato farmer encountered a red-eyed Jimmy(the mayor and Bad’s character) at some point in time. You know who else has unnaturally red eyes? Egg-possessed individuals. Jack the potato went mad and went in a killing spree with Shrimpy for some reason. You know who else goes mad and becomes needlessly violent out of the blue? You guessed it, Egg-possessed individuals. So yeah. The Egg was the cause of the massacre.
Anyway! Back to the point- Haunted mansion full of ghosts from the past that were indirectly killed by the Egg living in the same area where the Egg could be currently residing in is very pog.

Man I wish lore stuff was removed from tftsmp. Like, not to be a nerd but in terms of world building?? This sucks. Before the smp there were class systems and mansions? It kinda ruins the current fantasy elements of normal Minecraft. I wish Karl would just do streams of everyone doing mini adventures instead of this
I mean, it's not that hard to just, ignore tftsmp as canon as so far only 1 part of it is affecting current lore.
And that's ponk inheriting stuff from Jack the potato farmer who was in the "the village that went mad"
But yeah its real funky huge world building jumps to make for a collaborative heavily improv live rp.
Also karl please just stream urself vibing on the dsmp again, I miss those pop off days :(

I wanted to talk about the Inbetween and Karl’s character, so here I am!
First of all, I want to point out that Karl isn’t time travelling to change the past or anything like that. He’s not there to change the fates of the people that he meets, he’s not there to be the hero, he’s not there to intervene, and he’s not there because that’s how it’s supposed to be.
No, Karl isn’t being sent to the past or the future because he needs to be there for things to happen. Things will go just the way they do even without him there. He didn’t need to be in Not A Very Good Town town for Jack the potato farmer and Bob the builder to go crazy, he didn’t need to be in the Lost City of Mizu for the fishermen to eventually find the place and get killed by Ranbob, he didn’t need to be in the Masquerade for Sir Billiam to host a party, and he didn’t need to be in the Wild West for the villagers to finally get a grip of themselves and start fighting back.
Life is a never ending cycle. Even if he wasn’t there to trigger some important event, something eventually will.
Karl is time travelling to learn from the tales he witnesses. He’s not there to change anything, he’s just there to learn and write down the stories. It was literally written down on a book in the Inbetween:
He’s there so he could preserve the stories and so he could share what the world really is. He’s there so he could learn and possibly use his knowledge to change how the present will go because he’s seen how the past and future went.
Now let’s talk about Tales from the SMP as a whole.
Tales from the SMP isn’t Karl’s story.
Just like the Dream SMP’s story, TFTSMP is about the events that led to how the new characters in the story act. It’s the story that controls the characters and not the other way around.
It’s about the mayor’s wife and her nightly endeavours, it’s about an orphan and their tragic past, it’s about a town that went mad. It’s about a group of friends going on a treasure hunt and learning pirate stories as they went. It’s about a bunch of fishermen discovering a lost society, it’s about a misled descendant who ended up idolizing the wrong person. It’s about a billionaire who invited some friends over for a party that was a cover up for a massacre, it’s about a group of innocent people being deceived and controlled without being able to fight back. It’s about a town that came together to fight back against their attackers, it’s about a sheriff that’s way too nice to his cannibal prisoner, it’s about a way too young bartender and his banker frenemy with a bee.
The series centers around stories and characters that are new, it never really revolves around Karl. He’s just a medium. Karl is there to witness everything happen, but he’s not there to steal the spotlight.
It’s not about Karl. The stories are never about Karl.
The only things on Tales from the SMP that’s ever gonna be about Karl are the Inbetween, his library, his diaries, and his memories. The rest of the things we see- the builds, the characters, the story- that is what Tales from the SMP really is.
Karl’s story is whenever he goes into the Inbetween, it’s whenever he wakes up in his library with significantly less memories and color, it’s when he writes his latest story and starts another diary, it’s when he goes to Kinoko Kingdom and build with his friends. TFTSMP will never be Karl’s story, but After the Tales will always be his own.
TLDR: Tales from the SMP is not about Karl. But Karl still has his own story.
