list of things ive observed after watching tfone 2.5 times (the 0.5 was because i was speeding through looking for image proofs etc)

starting with something funny: B's cogless form has an energon compartment.

assuming that this is standard for all cogless models, it makes it especially hilarious to think that OP during the intro chase sequence either didn't think of storing his energon, or that he's just hungy enough and he's snacking as he runs

2. cameo guesswork (excluding jazz, since he was the only one that got formally mentioned and any screentime outside of main cast). has varying confidence/accuracy levels. here we go.

moonracer, prowl, perceptor (or sideswipe), ironhide, wheeljack, hound (if it is hound, at a later scene a mech of a similar frametype had a line in a fem-sounding voice), sunstreaker, arcee, red alert, and chromia (caught only because the announcer said so lmao. im more used to her darker blue paintjob like in idw and cyberverse). i think i also saw a helm that looked like drift (not deadlock, drift) but i can't really confirm.

3. bots that appeared on the iacon 5000 leaderboards but to my knowledge no screentime otherwise (can also be seen as a list of bots that are cogged and will later join the autobots, assuming the timeline will follow traditional bot/con division):

silverbolt, deadend, slingshot, cliffjumper, motormouth; powerglide, jetstorm, blurr (of course. this is his natural habitat after all); swindle and tailgate.

admittedly i found the inclusion of swindle so so funny because like?? dude i thought you'd be running the betting rings rn lol.

4. sentinel's characterization (outside of g1, i watched reruns as a kid but i don't remember them anymore) has always been either someone grossly incompetent or a menacing/suppressive force on cybertron. i thought it was interesting that they made him devious and actually kind of cunning this time around.

anyway. i also thought his paintjob was based off of tfa, but no his g1 counterpart laid the groundwork there.

they did away with the cheeto orange (goodbye cheeto orange) but the gold is striking. really gives him that image of glamor and opulence.

telesync kinda fucked up the colors but: elita's optics have a greenish hue to them, more aquamarine/cyan than the regular autobot blues that B and OP have. D's is, of course, yellow.

verging into speculation territory, i wonder if there's a reason why they gave D distinctly hexagonal optics? the yellow is pretty obvious, its easier to transition from yellow to red than blue to red. but the hexagons are very eye catching (pun intended), given how they spin around. it's not exactly something people would miss. tune in later for my Outlier/Point-One Percenter D theory

6. sentinel's guards (excluding airachnid) are kinda weird.

theyre very homogenous in shape, no individual characteristics, not even a little kibble to separate them from one another. and when they speak its very stiff, almost droning. its most certainly not an animating/funding/studio issue, given that almost all other cybertronians (even in the background) have been personalized one way or another.

so: possibly cold-constructed mechs, mass produced and onlined for the singular task of serving sentinel. think of the eradicons/vehicons from tfp, the shapes are certainly similar enough.

7. in the cave scene after the sentinel/quintesson reveal, D stomps on something, breaking it.

that's his worker's tag. all the miners have them. pictured: D's, OP's, and jazz's. elita and B all have their own tags too.

what i found most interesting though, that directly after the sentinel surface encounter, D crushes his (as said before), B and elita remove theirs (it left a faint indent on B, which begs the question how old he actually is and how long has he been working, exactly?), but OP keeps his tag on.

Okay, so... TFA BeachTracks. Hear me out.

So, in the AllSpark Almanac, Beachcomber mentions he once got lost and crashed in Tracks' garage, at which point Tracks effortlessly threw him out.

I want to imagine that this scenario happens a few times. It's that that thing from the Simpsons where Moe throws the guy out of his bar but he just comes right back.

I've long had the concept of Tracks wanting to go the a really fancy and important social event, but said event requires a plus one. All of Tracks' friends (namely Sunstreaker and Powerglide) are just as shallow as he is, and also going with their respective plus ones, so he can't depend on them.

He's about to give up when Beachcomber stumbles into his home yet again. Instead of throwing him out, Tracks decides to drag Beachcomber along as a plus one. Beachy is all too happy to go (since he anticipates free oil). Tracks discovers that Beachcomber has the spark of a poet and grudgingly falls in love with him.

I just really like the idea of snooty, self-centered, organic-hating Tracks and laid-back, nature-loving stoner Beachcomber hanging out together.

As for interfacing...

Tracks much prefers plug n play, because sticky is too messy for his tastes (plus, its way too much like the reproduction of those gross organics things). Beachcomber prefers sticky because years of drug use has damaged his processor and made it harder for him to do plug n play.

They compromise with Beachcomber eating Tracks out, licking up the lubricant before it has a chance to drip out and make a mess.

The feeling is very different than plug n play, and Tracks is soon whining and squirming under Beachcomber's tongue. Later on, he'll look back with embarrassment at how he lost his composure, but in the moment he can barely think.

Astrotrain vs. Blaster Astrotrain. I will never marry someone who wants to kill Soundwave, and I like to travel in style.

Bluestreak vs. Skids Skids, because he would learn everything you need him to know about you.

Blurr vs. Misfire Misfire, because he's an incredibly sweet person, and he also won't come 3 times before you do and then pass out.

Brainstorm vs. Nightbeat Nightbeat, because I feel that he would try “telling you he’s interested in you” before resorting to building a time machine and trying to kill Megatron.

Breakdown vs. Ten Breakdown; they're both himbos but Breakdown is less insistent on getting his way and communicates better.

Bumblebee vs. Chromedome For my sanity I am going with Bumblebee, provided he is not the asshole Bumblebee from either Earthspark or TFA. I do not want to die horribly and then become Episode 5 of “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” and also I don’t approve of mnemosurgery and Chromedome is also the guy who tried to lobotomise Soundwave at the Institute so fuck that guy.

Cosmos vs. Crankcase Crankcase. While he is not nearly as “nice” as Cosmos, he also knows what he likes and wants and does not retract his trust at the first sign of trouble.

Cyclonus vs. Dominus Ambus Cyclonus, because he can fall in love with people who are not his slaves. I also don’t trust anyone who can blend in with the DJD enough to work with them for years and years before getting caught. He wasn’t a medic like Nickel. He had to do that job.

Censere vs. Megatron Censere, because he is kind, and also because Megatron is still obsessed with  Orion Pax and would only be fun to marry if you could get both of them.

Depth Charge vs. Ultra Magnus Depth Charge knows what fun is and can even say the word without flinching.

Dinobot vs. Ratchet Ratchet, because he has an unerring moral compass and takes care of what he loves.

First Aid vs. Perceptor This is a difficult choice because I love science guys. In the end I chose Perceptor. I think First Aid would find me rather vanilla. If you’re more like Tex than me, though, Aid is your mech.

Fulcrum vs. Blitzwing The real question here is “how many husbands do you actually want?” I think polyandry could be fun, but not with the Three Faces of Blitzwing.

Hoist vs. Drag Strip Drag Strip. At least he's pretty.

Impactor vs. Mixmaster Mixmaster, because I’d rather have a husband who makes things, than a husband whose goal in life is to break things as impressively and thoroughly as possible, which is what Impactor does; also, he grew up in a mine with Megatron and he still joined the Autobots, wtf.

Knock Out vs. Powerglide Knock Out, because he moved to another planet to make his conjunx happy.

Meteorfire vs. Alpha Trion Meteorfire, because he knows how to have fun and can just say what he means.

Optimus Prime vs. Soundwave If you think there’s anyone I would choose over Soundwave you haven’t been reading this blog very long. If you think OP has a chance over Soundwave, you have clearly just now arrived here through tags or “recommended for you”.

Optimus Primal vs. Drift Drift, because he's so fucking beautiful, and even when he’s a wreck, he’s interesting.

Prowl vs. Swerve Swerve is sweet and will binge TV with me. Prowl thinks All Cops Are Bastards is an ideal to aspire to.

Rattrap vs. Starscream Starscream, because Starscream would be a difficult husband, but he’s an even more difficult boss, and you probably don’t want to deal with being married to someone who actually works for him.

Rewind vs. Hot Shot Hot Shot is entertaining. Also, if I disappear, I want my husband to hire the best detective in the universe, not watch snuff films obsessively to see if I am in them.

Rung vs. Predaking Predaking, because dragons are that fucking cool.

Rodimus Prime vs. Cheetor Rodimus, because Cheetor’s executive function is even worse than his, and I do not need any help making rash decisions, losing track of time and getting sidetracked.

Sky-Byte vs. Swindle I’m going with king shark here. Sky-Byte would write you poetry and pay for your dates. I feel like Swindle would be hot in a sleazy way and a great candidate for the fuck thing rather than the marry thing, but Sky-Byte would feed your ego and I would like that a lot.

Snarl vs. Shockwave Snarl. Unless you really want to be one of Shockwave’s experiments.

Spinister vs. Bulkhead A difficult choice. Bulkhead is stable and caring but Spinister is endlessly entertaining.

Star Saber vs. Smokescreen Smokescreen, because he doesn't have a vibranium rod up his aft.

Tailgate vs. Jazz Jazz, because he is smooth, chill, and sexy. Tailgate is cute but not sexy. He also makes dramatic painful decisions about relationships based on his terrible self-esteem without considering his partners’ likely wishes.

Tarantulas vs. Rhinox Tarantulas, and this is 100% the fault of @breakdownsbuttlights.

Thundercracker vs. Fortress Maximus Thundercracker writes fanfiction and screenplays and he dotes on his dog. What more do you want?  Meanwhile, Fort Max was the warden at Garrus-9 before Overlord took over, and even after seeing everything that had happened to Grimlock, he still wanted to throw him back in jail when he found him with the Scavengers. And he only wanted to capture the Scavengers just because he thought they were Decepticons and therefore had to have done something wrong, and he can’t keep from petting the beastformers no matter how many times they say not to.

Wheeljack vs. Thunderclash Wheeljack is full of fun and mad science. Thunderclash is full of himself and supported Getaway’s mutiny.

Whirl vs. Tracks Tracks, because Whirl is exciting, but not in a good way, and you’re not as tough as either Cyclonus or Tailgate. Tracks is also a pretty good dancer.

Ambulon vs. Dreadwing Beachcomber vs. Rampage Fireflight vs. Quickstrike Heatwave vs. Hardshell Metroplex vs. Sideswipe Seaspray vs. Runamuck Springer vs. Skyfire Wasp vs. Chase No opinion. Campaign to me for your choice.

I have some HCs I like to play with sometimes. I like to think a lot of the daily use structures and objects like chairs/tables, etc in places where many different sized bots routinely gather kinda mass form/shape to the needs of individuals. We do see some autforming structures like that in canon in Bayfilms and WFC/FOC games

I also like to think many places have Dr Who TARDIS/subspace like tech where they maybe bigger on the inside, or have mass shifting entrances that help equalize the sizes. hey it's sci-fi on a world of advanced robots that turn into space ships and race cars and dinosaurs! We can have fun with the tech possibilities! They have space/ground warping bridges after all. accessability can be for everyone on a transforming world

Pk so I've been thinking for a while about how ergonomics would look on Cybertron.

Like first of all bots come in such a wide variety of sizes that realistically, common household items would too. Like if we take TFA as an example, and compare Bumblebee to maybe Optimus, and give them a reasonably sized cup each, there would be a cast size difference. And like some things like doors, especially in public places, would probably be built to accommodate the biggest bots, but what about apartments and homes?

Also, before war and factions splitting and etcetera, you needed roads for those with ground-based vehicle modes, but what about those who could fly? Were the towera built with landing spots and entrances in mind? Also, other bodily variations. Some bots have claws instead of "regular" hands, or the variety in vehicle modes even within a single group would make a lot of difference for how they get around.

Also, and i know a lot of people have discussed this before, but beds. Because i think we've all looked at certain characters and thought "there is no way this guy could lay comfortably on their back". Be it wings, or other kibble, or just being shaped weird, I think realistically there would be a "standard" type of bed used in places like hospitals, or army bases or stuff like that. But otherwise there would be a LOT of options to change a bed to suit one's own needs. Because again, with the way some bots are shaped they would realistically have to either have a very specialized bed for proper support, or just lay very specifically.

If you ever want to give more Transformers media a shot, The series "Transformers Animated" is really good, as is "Transformers Beast Wars" if you're going with 90s Television CGI. For Comics the current run from Skybound is phenomenal.

I know a lot of fans love Beast Wars and say it was the best thing ever, but as far as I'm concerned Beast Wars ruined everything. It's not just the primitive CGI, or the way everyone's an animal now, although those were things that bothered me. The main problem I have with it is the dialogue. Everyone talks like they're doing Shakespeare in the park, and maybe that overwrought tone is something they picked up from the comics, because I started to notice it there, too.

TFA is probably the closest in tone to the original G1 series, and they even have callbacks to it, like Weird Al doing the voice of Wreck-Gar. I think that's the same show, anyway. But it's still different, and as far as I'm concerned, the whole point of doing a Transfomers cartoon is to try to duplicate the original as much as possible.

I'm not saying it needs to the same voice actors and character models, but if you're putting Optimus Prime in your show, he should talk and act like the Peter Culllen version. And Megatron should be a cackling mastermind, Starscream should be a scheming chickenshit, and so on.

And some shows will approach this ideal, but then stop short, like they're afraid to get too close, like they don't want it to be too silly. That's dumb. Starscream is an inherently silly character. Galvatron's a lunatic. Perceptor's a nerd. Cyclonus is like a goth Smithers. Powerglide thinks he's a movie hero.

Instead it's always like "This time we had 5 Constructicons, and Snarl is a triceratops this time. Enjoy Optimus Prime's new lips!" Who does that serve? What does it accomplish? If you want to redesign the characters and overhaul their personalities, just make new characters. That's what G1 did all the time! Make new team of dinosaur guys, or a new backstabber, or new leader with kissable lips. It doesn't have to be Optimus and Megatron every time!

I may check out the modern comics some day, but Dreamwave really let me down in the 2000s, so I've been reluctant to check out the new stuff.

headcanons I have for him depends on the continuity & sometimes the character he's paired up with!!

but one thing for sure is, no matter the continuity, he's the type of person if he's friends with someone, he'll pick up bits of their mannerisms & speech. it's a way to know he cares!
