What are sparklings? Are they like robot babies?

YES!

They are a mostly fan concept however. Hasbro has been cowards and unfortunately haven't realized how good an idea it is.

Mostly cuz that opens the floodgates of robot pregnancy I assume.

With that said, IDW comics does touch on the concept as far as I understand, regarding protoforms where they start out like lil marshmallows, then grow into their basic robot forms.

I think that protoform is a scraplet, but I'm not terribly familiar with IDW continuity so take that with a grain of salt.

In TFA, Sari can technically count as one.

Prof. Sumdac found her as a lil protoform that somehow ended up in his lab and after touching her, she somehow absorbed his DNA and became humanlike.

We probably would have GOTTEN MORE INFO IN SEASON 4 ABOUT HER ORIGINS BUT WE DIDN'T GET SEASON 4!!

Personally, I love the idea that they start off as lil squishy marshmallow blobs, developing arms n legs later on as they develop, along with more rigid structures.

And I think sparklings could be one of the reasons why Cybertronian altforms' tend to have this conveniently open space in them that you can access. They can get carried around like how marsupial do

Also we can't forget the biggest contribution to Sparkling Ideas, the KOBD child - Wildbreak.

He had so many similar traits to the gay cat husbands that fans just took the idea he was their kid and RAN.

I was thinking of my younger times where I was obsessed with crossovers and at that time I was into My Little Pony, TMNT and Transformers Prime and then I remember @its-elioo crossover fics and read them and I feel like my inner child is rolling around in excitement because we finally find a well written crossover with MLP and Transformers.

Was stress relief sketching before deciding to whip out scenes that I love from her fics. The redesigns of Fluttershy and Bumblebee are hers.

I've always loved Fluttershy and Bumblebee so I adore their interactions. And adding Predaking as her new best friend? Absolutely.

Talking about Predaking, I remember that time in high school in art class; we had to do some kind of ink marking on clothes and the teacher let us pick any picture to draw of, so I chose the Predacon symbol to slap on the white shirt. I don't know where that shirt is now though.

Every time I remember an Autobot or Decepticon bitch about being stuck on Earth, Animated and Prime are the most frequent, it makes me laugh thinking how easy they got it. Imagine any iteration ending up on a version that is much more chaotic than the norm. Especially if the dangers are hidden or completely normal to humans.

We got JoJo's Bizarre Adventure where you literally can't trust even a simple POWER OUTLET. From stone masks that could turn people into eldritch vampire, pieces of Jesus Christ could give people powers, and martial arts which either turn the circulatory system into a sunlight generator (Hamon) or using the Golden Ratio to shred even dimensions (Spin).

I'm not forgetting about Stand Users either. Every sentient creature could become a Stand User, someone who can project a psychic manifestation of their fighting spirits that could look like anything with abilities that range from giving positive encouragement to stopping time. That weird individual on the street could dissect Megatron into pieces with fucking zippers through their Stand.

How about Resident Evil where the constant threat is viral infections? I'm not talking about the standard zombie virus either. We got mutant undead creating ones, parasitic worms/insects, to fucking hivemind mold. All guaranteed to least spawn mutants like giant man eating salamanders, evolving fanged blobs and even an eldritch dinosaur.

They have to constantly decontaminate base than just troops as a simple small strain could turn a rat into a dog sized menace. Plus all those zombies guts and blood they have to clean up if an infected did get inside. I'm pretty damn sure humans are no longer the gross squishies compared to that.

Last best addition to add is the 'Kaiju Series' i.e Kaiju No. 8, Godzilla/King Kong Monsterverse, and Pacific Rim. Normal Earth fauna doesn't cause much compared to this as kaiju practically made themselves home here. The bots aren't exactly prepared for megafauna being a constant presence and frequent threat.

Kaiju are territorial so their respective ships will get attacked if spotted too close to the creatures' home. Some may also feed on metal and think either faction are potential food. The humans here could potentially kick their afts like Kaiju No 8's Defense Force or Pacific Rim's Jaeger Pilots.

Never take what you have for granted. In the Autobots and Decepticons cases, that is a normal simple Earth. The other possibilities could be much worse.

When Wheeljack woke up, he saw Star standing in front of their floor-length mirror. An unnecessary addition to their already extravagant quarters, but it had made Star happy so he had bought it nonetheless.

Star's face was contorted in that familiar scowl, looking both annoyed and slightly frustrated. He moved his perfect silver claws down his hips and thighs, glaring at himself in the glass.

"Star...?" Wheeljack asked, his voice soft and groggy.

Star looked faintly startled, and even a bit guilty. It was a rare look for him, one Jackie did not like. He watched as his winged partner schooled over his features, his expression returning to that coy aloofness that came with years of believing he deserved better.

"Good morning, dearest," Star said, leaning over the bed as Jackie sat up to kiss him softly.

Dearest, huh? So he was upset about something. Still, he let his partner kiss him, bringing one big hand up to cup Star's flawless, sharp face. Jackie stretched after they moved apart, slowly getting out of bed as Star practically sashayed into the kitchen. Those seekers and their damn heels.

Jackie follows him into the kitchen, watching his partner's wings shift in the windows' light. Sometimes it was like he was seeing him for the first time again, wanting to re-memorize every groove in his plating and minuscule scratch in his paint. Jackie wraps his arms around Star as the Seeker stands at the counter, burying his face into the crook of Star's neck.

"Clingy." The Seeker scoffs, but from the way his wings droop slightly, he enjoys the affection. He takes some energon from the dispenser and places it in two bowls, handing one to Jackie. He takes it with a nod of thanks, and they sit down at their small table that Star insists on calling a dining table, even though it only has room for four chairs.

They eat in silence for a bit before Jackie speaks up in a cautious voice. "What's the matter?"

Star puts on a mask of confusion, the one he does when he's trying to play dumb. It's never worked on Jackie.

"What do you mean? I am perfectly alright, especially now that you are awake." Star says, suddenly picking at his food.

"What was all that glaring at the mirror, then?" Jackie pushes. The only way to get through to Star is to press, even if he ends up scratching back. Star looks away for a minute, most likely trying to come up with a lie.

"I was just...inspecting myself." He mutters, trying to seem dismissive.

"You looked beautiful, as always," Jackie says, just as soft.

There's a beat as Star looks at him, his optics narrowed, most likely searching Jackie's face to see if he was lying.

"You really mean that?" His voice is uncharacteristically soft. He must be more upset than he lets on.

"Of course. Every time I look at you, it's like I am seeing you again for the first time."

"We met on a battlefield. It wasn't exactly a nice first impression." Star says, but he's trying not to smile.

"I don't care. I've fallen in love with you more and more every other time I see you. You're gorgeous, Star." Jackie says quietly.

"Even...if I'm cold-constructed?" His lover's voice is so small, perhaps the smallest Jackie has ever heard it.

Jackie gets out of his chair and comes around the table, kneeling in front of his lover. He takes one of Star's claws and squeezes it softly.

"Star, you know that doesn't matter one bit. You are perfect the way you are." He looks into Star's red optics, trying to show him how sincere he is being.

"I was made in a lab. Made to be perfect. I'm a fake, I'm just a shitty imitation of what could be, I-" Jackie silences him with a touch to his cheek.

"You are a beautiful invention, far more beautiful than anything I could have created. You are not a fake because you are yourself, Star. And I love you for who you are." He cups his lover's cheek, stroking his thumb across Star's sharp cheek-plating, watching his optics soften.

Star is quiet for a moment. Then another. He then gently turns his helm, placing a soft kiss on Jackie's palm. He remains quiet, pressing another soft kiss to his lover's fingers.

"I really love you, Star," Jackie says softly. "I don't care if you weren't forged. You are the most beautiful thing ever made in all of Cybertron."

Star's wings twitch, his body giving a slight shudder before he leans forward, pressing his face into Jackie's neck. Jackie rubs his back softly, just between his wings.

"I...I love you too. Thank you." He mumbles, bringing his arms around his partner's white and grey shoulders. Star closes his eyes, breathing softly.

Jackie strokes his helm, then runs a hand across the top of Star's wings, causing his lover to shiver.

"Don't push it." comes a soft growl, Star's voice muffled against his neck. Jackie laughs softly, earning a small bite from Star.

"Hey, watch the fangs!"

"Shut up, Jackie."

Like I mentioned in another post, I am currently working on a draft for a Transformers idea. It was originally a ramble talked about in a Discord server when it involved the media as a whole and sorta spitball from there. (Convo was originally about how there needed to be more shows with a PG-13 or Mature rating, exploration of relationships between both species i.e platonic/familial/romantic, and more worldbuilding such as cultural differences to ideas on different topics like religion.)

I haven't exactly come up with a good draft as of yet. So for now, enjoy these screenshots about it. I marked out the other people's names and icons in this discussion for privacy reasons. Please excuse the awful photoshop but there 24 screenshots in total while my Tumblr has a 10 photo limit.

I've read the IDW comics and watched the G1, Prime, Animated (aren't they all animated?), EarthSpark and Robots In Disguise series.

Is that what you mean?

G1's "me" is a lot like me when I was younger. I think EarthSpark is closest to being right about me now. I am really quite heroic!

And Megatron is just a wimp trying to look brave and impressive. When are we going to see more of that?
