Discovered that Ennis has haters and now I’m js confused bc did we watch the same movie?? The point isn’t to vilify Ennis but to show WHY he’s like that.
Like yes he can’t emotionally connect to the kids he didn’t really want (which btw HE DOES TRY TO AT THE END! I saw someone say he didn’t go to Alma Jr’s wedding when he clearly says he’ll quit his job just to go to but whatever) and is a shitty partner to Alma and Jack, but that doesn’t make him an entirely evil character? Did you miss the build up?? His backstory??
I think people need to stop measuring the likeability of characters in media by morality and instead perceive them and their backstories as what they’re intended to SHOW (i.e. the effects of a violently heteronormative patriarchal society on queer men here) bc it makes things so much more interesting. Also helps with trying to understand what an author, actor, etc. is trying to say about a topic which some people I reckon need to work on!
#brokeback mountain#ennis del mar#jack twist#watched the movie for the first time recently and i am already very passionate about it.#teyra talks

Needed a breather from full length stories. Also, kinda blocked on how I wanna write Ascella’s arc. So imma do this instead. Keep in mind: at this point in their stories, they are all teammates, not exactly lovers or partners so for all intents and purposes, all of these people are single. @ebevkisk
How Marasenna feels about her teammates:
Petra Naverrian
Senna and Petra have a respect for each other. They have lived long lives despite still being so young, so they trust each other implicitly. Petra is also the only non-dragon to beat Senna in a straight-up fight, so Senna feels close to her in that regard.
Lyria Peregrine
They have a symbiotic relationship. Senna LOVES food and Lyria loves making food. Lyria is also kinda the group mom, so Senna vents a lot to her about things. Senna also is very good at bringing Lyria out of her shell, so it works out.
Emily Cordalith
An example of opposites attract. Senna is a wild child and Emily is a very centered and focused individual. Somehow, this makes them a very unique pairing that works well together.
Aerin Curridan
Senna admires Aerin’s peaceful and stoic energy. She knows Aerin follows a war patron, but Senna has never met anyone who was literally like a warm cup of chai tea on a snowy snowy evening like Aerin is.
Verity Xanderia
Something unsettles Senna about Verity. Verity carries an aura of confusion and power that Senna does not understand, but it feels very old and very dangerous and as such, Senna keeps her distance.
Haley
Madness incarnate. Senna is Haley’s enabler. Senna encourages so much creativity and chaos out of them that it’s insane what shenanigans they can get up to when they spend too much time together.
Ascella Ylteryn
Surprisingly, these two are very close friends. Ascella finds herself around Senna more often than not. Even if they aren’t talking, they find comfort in each other’s presence.
Teyra Fellspark
If anyone in the hold could give Senna butterflies, its 100% Teyra. These two have the most wholesome relationship. Teyra is the soft spoken and loving softie to Marasenna’s wild instigator and Teyra has an ability to calm Senna down that no one else has mastered. Also, both tend to turn beet red when around each other, but they haven’t figured that out yet.

Helpless
In Taryn’s peripheral vision, she could see others—also protected against the effects of the freezing spell—moving amongst the bodies on the ground.
Rifling them around. Desecrating the ritual space. But then Taryn realized something else…
They were taking people.
Aurin kept talking. “Your clergy do party tricks compared to what My Goddess trains the Teyrae Kyndagr to do.”
Helplessly, Taryn watched someone pick up Rinnie.
She heard rustling beside her and noticed a pair of waitstaff come up and slit the throat of the Temple Guard she’d been standing near. She internally thrashed against her magical bindings but could not make herself move even though her life literally depended on it.

Communication is the key:
Older! Duncan Shepherd+Reader.
(A/N): Hello there, lovelies!
How are you?
I am a bit full of things to do, because life is crazy... also here the weather suck so... not living my best life, but I just wanted to share a this because soft older! Duncan can basically cure anything (insert here “the bandaid meme).
Also, little disclaimer, before you start this fic: please if you are innocent and vanilla don’t feel insulted by this; I am not trying to insult you, being innocent and vanilla is something nobody should be ashamed of.
The problem is when you think that just because, if somebody enjoys a different sex life from you, you judge him badly, making thme feel ashamed of it.
Don’t be an asshole, don’t kinkshame anybody!
I hope you will enjoy it!
SUMMARY: Your friends have never been the nicest with you, but it all gets worse when a brunch brings out revelation you weren’t ready to make... thank God, Duncan Shepherd is the best boyfriend ever and always knows how to take care of you, even in your hardest days!
WORDS: 4.3 K
WARNINGS: Mentions of Sex and Nudity, Strict Mentality, Toxic Friendship and a bit of Angst (but also a lot of Fluff because that’s how my older! Duncan is...)
She had arrived a bit late to the brunch she was supposed to attend with her friends, since apparently they all were in LA, and they had decided to go out like they did when they were just teenagers.
Except now they were either married or with a child on the way so to find the right date for everybody had been extremely difficult.
And she hadn’t meant to disrespectfully ignore it, but Duncan had had a bad day.
So she had taken her time comforting him over the phone, reminding him that that night he would be seeing her, and she would absolutely change his opinion about that day, and this had been enough to get a very low and rough laugh from him, which had immediately set her core on fire.
She had thought about a bit of talking about more “serious matters” with Duncan over the phone, to relieve the pressure between her thighs, but then she had seen the hour and… she had discovered that she was late.
She had expected her friends to raise against her, bitching about her lateness, but she had found them already deep in conversation, she had just preferred to sit on the nearest empty chair, smiling around, meanwhile the original trio gossiped about something regarding Anna.
Her and Anna had been “best friends”, but they had never been the “OMG GIRL CALL ME WHEN YOU NEED ME” type, they were more the “I need comfort and you are single so”, which had been mostly on Anna’s part since, (Y/N) had found herself on more the single side, but still she tried not to bring too much bad blood to her friend, not when, since she had been going out with Duncan, things had been amazing, both in her bed and outside of it.
She was finally happy, when she hadn’t been in such a long time.
She immediately tried to get Anna’s attention, feeling that her friend was ashamed of the entire conversation, in order to be able to bring some comfort, but before she could actually say anything, Rebecca summarized the entire thing for her.
-Hello (Y/N)! – she promptly laughed, meanwhile adjusting her long black on her side, as if to dust them off to make it appear that what she was going to say too, didn’t touch her in the slightest, no matter the fact that she was screaming about it five minutes prior with Elaine -… apparently Dennis has asked our lovely Anna, if he can hit it from the back-.
Part of her was supposed to be shocked at the thing, since she hadn’t honestly expected Dennis to be the type to ask for such thing (she had even mumbled, after Duncan had taken her against their kitchen counter, bent over it, that she was sure that certainly her friends’ boyfriends wouldn’t have been able to do the same, although they were younger than him, getting a very satisfied groan, mumbling “well it’s all in the experience, dear”) but another part of her, was like “… and you wouldn’t be into it?”.
She honestly didn’t see the problematic of it.
Starting from the fact that she hadn’t let Duncan “hit the backdoor”, but she had been interested and curious about it, enough that once they had talked about it, and she had told him, she would have been ok with it, but Duncan, ever the gentleman, had suggested they took it slowly and so she wouldn’t have to feel pressured into it in the slightest.
She had immediately loved the confidence and open mind of her man.
(Y/N) knew Duncan was a man of many kinks and this at first had scared her since she had been scared that her naivety and innocence would make her boring in his eyes, and he wouldn’t be in the slightest interested into her and soon the sex would get annoying for him.
He had reassured her that, meanwhile kinks made ex more enjoyable, he wasn’t attracted to any of them in the slightest, he was attracted to her and there was no better turn on than seeing a comfortable woman tremble of pleasure underneath him.
He had slowly brought up kinks, making sure to discuss them with her, and encouraging her to share some of hers with this, with no judgement, till she felt comfortable enough.
But her friends were a different kind of people: she still remembered growing up and being chastised for her wishes, her sexual researches, as if sex was indeed something dirty which shouldn’t be discussed with anyone, not even your sexual partner.
And that had fucked her up a bit, feeling as if she was dirty or anything else, and she had indeed pushed herself to be quiet on her desires, till she had met Duncan, and he had been pretty vocal on her not having to hold back with him.
“Don’t you dare holding back anything from me, sweetie! This relationship is a judgement free one, and if you want to try something out, we sit down and discuss it!”.
And from then on it had been how it had worked between them.
-Oh…- she tried to sound as distant as she could, to leave out any kind of emotions, knowing the opinion of their friends on this kind of things -… and what did you say? -.
She didn’t want to intrude in your friend’s thoughts, but she tried to, at least, get also her side of the story, trying to appear as judgement free as she could, in order to make her feel comfortable.
Anna just took a deep breath, staring at her with such a Virgin Mary look, as if she honestly thought she would be sent to Hell for all the sinful things she did with Duncan in their bed, and outside of it, but she tried to keep herself cool and nice on the outside.
-… I said I would think about it, but that isn’t… normal! – the entire phrase sounded like it took all her force, and she looked like she was five seconds from imploding-… I have a front door for a reason-.
She honestly felt the laugh approach her from inside, but she blocked it halfway although a strange smile (a mix between a constipated pose and a true smile) appeared on her face, to keep the situation in check, not wanting to expose herself.
-… and you didn’t talk anymore about it? – she tried to continue the discourse but again Rebecca interrupted her, raising her coffee to her lips and sending her a disapproving glance.
-Is it something that even should be discussed, (Y/N)?! – replied, bitterly the woman, annoying her terribly, mostly because she was intruding in a conversation in which she had no part, but also she was also terribly uptight, alongside not caring even a little bit for her friends, just for her stupid backwards values -… that’s disgusting, poop comes out of that hole-.
She knew it, she had done her researches, unlike her.
-… I am just saying that we are in 2019, so we should all be a bit more open-minded- and then she moved to Anna, putting an hand on her shoulder to calm her down -… obviously if that is something that you want to try, I say go for it, maybe talk with Dennis, if not, just tell him so and everything will be alright-.
She had tried to be comprehensive and sweet, but her friends still imploded on her, looking at her with true anger.
-How can you even say those things when you are single and a virgin?!- Anna seemed taken aback from her own words, and immediately moved to apologize, but she stopped her friend.
-I am not a virgin, anymore- she didn’t feel like it was something that should be discussed over at brunch and she immediately blushed, having said it just because she was pissed for her friend’s disrespect.
Also, the fact that she was a virgin didn’t mean that she couldn’t give her friend relationship advice, mostly when her friends apparently had the maturity of a five-year-old child.
-When did that happen? – asked suddenly Iris, another friend of hers, who suddenly woke up, joining the conversation and watching her with wide eyes.
-Who is the lucky guy? – came Teyra from her left, and suddenly all the attention was on her.
Exactly what she had tried to avoid.
… shit…
-…. I don’t kiss and tell, girls- she tried to avoid having to say that she was in a relationship with Duncan Shepherd.
Duncan was very calm with them being together in public, but also he avoided paparazzi like hell, mostly to avoid her the mediatic hell (for which she was grateful).
He had said that she could obviously talk about them with her friends, but she honestly didn’t feel like sharing that bit of information with any of her childish friends.
Not when they were looking at her as if she had grown a nipple on her head.
She had told her parents, thinking they would have been disapproving of her dating an older man, but although they had been a bit suspicious at first, they had been extremely approving and nice with Duncan, who had been the most nervous one for the entire presentations, holding her hand tight, for the entire time.
-Then it didn’t happen…- mumbled snobbishly Rebecca, turning all her attention again on Anna, declaring that she wasn’t insignificant anymore.
She seriously wanted to tell her about that time Duncan had very gently kissed her leading her to his bedroom, before helping her lay down, worshipping every part of her body, till she was so melted in his arms that she had lost herself for a moment, and she wasn’t a person no more, she was a falling star and the fall was half the fun…
That would have not only shown that she was indeed not a virgin, but also… it was very relevant.
But she honestly had a bit of shame for herself and didn’t want to divulge anything that might then be linked to Duncan, mostly when her friends would surely gossip it to every journal they might know.
So she just chose to back off for the rest of the discourse, hiding in herself, and feeling awful, because although their opinion didn’t matter it made her feel awful and honestly a bit annoyed and not happy with herself.
She still felt like she had to appease at their judgement although she was definitely better than all of them.
It honestly baffled her that, whereas she would have always helped her friends, no matter what, thye made fun of her so easily.
So, she wasn’t in the best mood when she came home, finding Duncan trying to pass off a take-out as something he had cooked himself, making a smirk immediately appear on her lips, but tiredness still shone in her eyes.
Duncan seemed to catch it and immediately got her to sit down, personally removing her high-heeled shoes gently, before massaging gently her feet, getting up just to kiss her nose sweetly.
She couldn’t help but melt under him, purring when he moved his attention to her neck, peppering it with very distracting kisses and her hands tangled in his hair, gently.
-… hard day, my love? – he mumbled, meanwhile his lips moved to her ear, whispering the question straight into it, meanwhile she moved her hands from his hair to her neck, bringing him closer and welcoming his body warmth.
-Kind of- she replied, before looking at him in the eyes -… but now that you are here it’s a lot better-.
He kissed her there and then, pressing with force their lips together, meanwhile his hands moved to her hips, pinning her down and she welcomed his light oppression, feeling comfortable in his arms more than in anywhere else.
When they separated, she kept her forehead leaned on his, calming herself from any worry of the day and feeling him do the same.
He smirked, puffing his chest up, and she couldn’t help but love him even more for the fact that he had that arrogance to him, it kept their relationship more interesting and she couldn’t help but love the way his eyes filled with childish pride at her smile, which was followed by her messing with his precious gelled hair, getting a little poke on her hip because of it.
-You are already more mischievous, so I am not sure if my influence is inherently good…– she joked, hugging him tightly meanwhile she jokingly protested, but enjoyed again his warmth and having him near here.
Honestly long-distance relationships were difficult, but this made moments like this more precious.
-… also I am a bit hungry- her stomach grumbled to point out the words and Duncan with a last look at her, smirking with true genuine amusement and kissing her forehead one last time, stuttered off to the kitchen counter, getting their plates, followed by her who got the cutlery and the tissues, setting down a minimal table, before they sat down comfortably in front of each other, holding each other’s hands.
Her legs, sprawled without elegance in his lap, meanwhile Duncan just huffed out: he had reprimanded her too many times for that gesture, but he secretly liked each contact he could get with her, and after they had been both satisfied with their meal he reached down to rub her feet, meanwhile he made her aware of whatever problem was going over in his new project, describing each things in such an harsh and annoyed way that made her horrible day seem a day with rainbow and happiness.
she “comforted” him with a few sarcastic laughs and comments, getting a few too many admonishments about not being a brat, but without no fire in them.
She knew that Duncan liked her all the same, because all those brattish tendencies made their sex life better, more active and he loved to try to tame her.
He loved she could be reserved and sweet, obedient with almost everyone except him, and that she had secrets side for whenever they were alone together; it made him feel special and cherished.
She swapped dabs at each other, till it got late enough that a jetlagged Duncan started yawning (and she wasn’t able to stop the “old man” from leaving your lips) and they decided to go to bed, but Duncan seemed to have some strength still, pushing her against their bedroom door, kissing her.
It made her feel as if every nerve of her body was on fire, but as soon as his hands hooked themselves under her thighs she immediately become rigid under him.
The memory of todays’ brunch playing again in her mind, although she could have no idea why it was linked to her almost having sex with her beloved lover.
But it somehow did.
And Duncan felt it, immediately backing up, not enough to be unreachable with her hand, but enough to let her breath, waiting patiently.
-Did I do something wrong? – he asked, gently and most importantly without making her feel like it was her fault.
Although she thought so.
-… no, no, I am just still a bit influenced by what happened to brunch…- she didn’t know how.
Was it maybe because her friends had made her feel dirty for what she usually did with Duncan? Or the fact that they had made her feel like she didn’t deserve Duncan’s love or lust?
All her insecurities flooded to her head and Duncan saw it, gently shaking her a bit, before kissing her forehead.
-… whatever your friends say, they are a bunch of jealous bitches and I will literally fight each of them- she giggled, a little bit of her sadness disappearing and hugged him stronger, more to anchor herself down to him and not to her self-destructive thoughts.
-Thank you, but I can fight them, myself- she replied, meanwhile punching him lightly on the shoulder -… we were talking about sex, I am not saying how because it would invade someone’s privacy and I am better than that, but I said that I am not a virgin and didn’t want to say with who and they said that I was lying-.
She honestly didn’t know what to expect from Duncan, because although he was an attentive boyfriend that story was the craziest.
-I am even more inclined to fill a lawsuit against them- he mumbled, gently caressing her hair and then moving to her back, following patterns he knew that comforted her -… this is a clear invasion of your privacy, since your sex life is not any of their business, alongside the fact that they should respect you and your decision-.
He said it as if it was easiest thing ever, clearly believing in each words he spoke, which got her to get immediately out from the self-destructive mood of the day, gently cuddling closer to him.
-I love you, I don’t care about your experience and I respect you, whatever might happen, except please don’t stab me in the back…- he giggled at the least part, but looked her in the eyes, wanting each statement to count -… you are the most precious thing that has ever happened in my life and I want you to be comfortable in this relationship-.
She just hid in his chest, tears flowing finally and Duncan whispered sweet comforting words, helping her get dressed for the night, another way to comfort her, and when they were in bed together, cuddling her.
There, she finally felt relieved, hiding her hand in his shirt and moving them on his back, meanwhile he entwined their legs together.
-I am sorry, for ruining our night together…- she scrambled up, not meeting his eyes -… I know that you had a heavy day and I straight up ruined it and… you know not wanting sex…-.
-You don’t owe me anything, (Y/N)- he rarely used her name, and when he did it meant that he was either done with her or wanting to make sure she got a concept clear and loud in her head -… sex or affection should come natural and I won’t accept anything fake in this relationship, we talked about it and that’s something I am glad and grateful for, you are the most beautiful thing in my life and I am very lucky to have you-.
-I am the one lucky to have you...- she replied, meanwhile kissing him softly his hands again encircling her waist.
-We got lucky that we met- he dealt their disagreements, before kissing her forehead as if to say “end of this” -… but seriously there is nothing wrong and I am just happy that we are back together-.
-… love you- she whispered, before cuddling closer -… good night-.
-Good night, lovely -.
The day started extremely well, she woke up with her head on Duncan’s chest with him snoring gently, and she couldn’t help her little laughs, which woke him up.
Then the mornings moved to what they usually did each Saturday together: Duncan opened her wardrobe looked into it and proclaimed she was missing some kind of dress or accessory and got her to go shopping with him, much to her protests, but eventually he either dragged her there or she just relented, knowing he would make expensive bags appear in her room, either way.
Today, it was shoes and she was trying on an expensive pair of glimmering Jimmy Choo shoes, deciding whether she wanted the pink version or the silver one.
Duncan had wandered off, taking a call, apologizing with a quick kiss to her lips, heading for a secluded area.
She was checking herself out in the mirror, angulating differently the shoes to make it catch the light and shine brighter.
-… (Y/N)? - she froze on the spot, hearing the familiar voice, not turning around but checking as a spy what was going on, immediately seeing her friend, Rebecca in the reflection -… didn’t know that you went here? -.
Which was a not-bitchy way to say “I didn’t think you had the money for this” and she strangely did, since her projects got approved and she was now working on it, earning enough money that it wasn’t Duncan anymore who paid for her Chanels
She slowly turned around, on a shoes and bare foot, an uncomfortable position which prompted her to move for the little chaise-longue, her friend imitating here.
-Hello to you too, Rebecca- she mumbled more grimly but trying her best to appear nice with her “friend” who had humiliated her in the worst the previous day.
-Love those Jimmy Choo- her friends cooed, grabbing the pair she wasn’t trying on and jamming it up her foot, a store clerk moving to step in but it was waved off by Rebecca, meanwhile (Y/N) asked desperately for her help to get out of a dangerous situation such as that -… you could wear them on Monday-.
-What happens on Monday? – she replied, meanwhile trying her best not to roll her eyes at her friend’s obligation.
-Me and Ted are giving a little party at our new home… and he has a friend over for you- which was the closest way to arrange almost her marriage and it was something she always did, much to her annoyance.
It had started at first with just her friend “casually” making her sit down on the closest single friend, with some common interest and it had moved to her getting anyone who was even slightly single, which had gotten her into so many awkward situations
Duncan had once suggested he might just come over to show to all those boys that you were taken, but you thought it would have been a useless loss of their already scarce nights together.
She had stopped going out to those parties and hanging with Duncan, not necessarily at home (she still remembered the quickie which had happened in the private toilette of an high-end club, and how Duncan had had enough stamina to fuck her in their own bed).
-… I might have a thing to do on Monday- which meant she would be on Netlix, minding her own business, in her comfy pajama.
-Which is? – her friend was already looking at her as she was judging her already to be an asocial for her entire life, as if her plans, no matter what, wouldn’t be as cool as the ones she had in store for her.
Everybody followed Rebecca’s plan, or they weren’t considered enough.
She had thought it was true for so long, but it didn’t work anymore.
-Me- Duncan couldn’t have had a better time to intervene appearing behind her, plopping a small kiss down her shoulder, naked because of her dress, and hand wrapping around her waist.
Rebecca looked like she had seen a ghost.
She had personally been baffled by her first meeting with Duncan but it had been scheduled that day.
To see Duncan so suddenly… well it was indeed a true surprise.
-… oh…- she was only able to say that and Duncan smirked all haughty, getting a little elbow on his stomach from her -… wow you are Duncan Shepherd-.
-The one and only- he replied, meanwhile hugging her closer the PDA completely overflowing the roof, which was unusual but she knew he was a show off and linking the two things she knew that he was just doing it to get some kind of revenge on her friend on her account.
She didn’t know whether to laugh at him or hug him.
-… you must be Rebecca, I have heard a lot about you- he mumbled, again with that coy smirk and annoying voice, that clearly said what he had heard a lot about.
But Rebecca was just surprised that he knew her, and smiled flirty at him, as if he hadn’t a girl right here, under his arm, which he kissed like that chaise-longue was a bed.
-Well you can come too, Monday- she immediately brightened up, perking up and chatting brightly, as if to show him her better side, the one that (Y/N) didn’t know.
Sadly, that wasn’t what Duncan was thinking.
-… didn’t we have that thing planned with the Uderwoods? – he intervened, completely ignoring Rebecca and continuing on being that show off, grabbing gently her leg to push it up and raise her feet so he could observe it -… this would be perfect for that dinner-.
She shot him a smirk and he caught her, bringing her lips in a kiss, completely ignoring Rebecca, whom she had forgotten, so caught up in the moment, till the woman coughed roughly to get their attention.
-… I will take my leave, since I am not wanted-.
Duncan’s smirk said… “you better” and the woman almost fled barefoot from the store.
They spent a few minutes of silence, making sure she was out of earshot and then the laughter erupted from her mouth.
Duncan then moved his interest to the shoes, his head rising towards her pink dress clad body, pushing himself a bit behind her back, making her feel what was going on in his pants.
-I buy you the two pairs if we can go home, right now- he proposed, he must have gotten excited for whooping her bitchy friend ass.
And well… she felt the same.
-… only if we then go out and get you a jacket for that thing with the Underwoods… she kept the joke, making him raise by his tie.
He just shook her head, happy for that joyful glint in her eyes.
-See…- she turned around confused, facing him -… communication is the key-.
---
So... I really hope you liked it, and please don’t forget that any feedback might mean the wolrd to me (even the negative one: it helps me understand what went wrong and where I can get better)!

💉 - For Akksul, Therrin, Serrus, and Juren? {ssvdromio/exhausted--turian
Send 💉 for my muse to confess something they wouldn’t
@ssvdromio/ @exhausted--turian
Akksul:"Part of me knew what I was doing was wrong. United angara are strong angara, after all. I thought others would follow, and we’d be better than the Resistance. We weren’t. I knew this, but we were too invested by then. What I did, I ultimately didn’t do because I truly wanted to save my people. If I did, I would have done as Evfra had. I did it for a sense of control I lost after being taken by the kett. it was cowardly. I am ashamed for that. I already admitted I was wrong for what I did to jaal, but it was everyone else I wronged as well. I love my people, and hey deserve better than what I am. I still won’t trust an alien, but... as long as they haven’t done anything actively malicious, what I did to Ryder was also wrong. If admitting this helps our chances in the war, I will do it.”
Therrin:“I blamed my son for what happened to Teyra, for a small part, for far too long. Subconsciously, ya know. I loved him and I kept him safe, but I kept thinking she would have stayed on Omega if it weren’t for him. I pushed the kid away, because I wanted to blame anyone but myself. I didn’t think I’d ever be able to make up for it, so I kept my distance. I still keep my distance. I know he won’t ever forgive me. Truth is, if he’d died on the Natanus, I don’t think I would’ve known what i’d do with myself.”
Serrus:“I have nothing to confess! I’m embarrassed by my fringe, sir. It’s so small... It’s so small, I could wear a scarf and they think I’m a woman from certain angles. Or not from certain angles, if it’s not a Turian I’m talking to.”
Juren:“I... put priority on my son over everyone else stored in the facility. He is not essential personnel. It’s horribly selfish. It goes against my function to prioritize based on sentimentality, but I’ve lost enough children.”

Part two. Doing one for each character. Plus this helps me iron out how my OCs feel about one another. @ebevkisk
How Emily feels about her teammates:
Petra Naverrian
Best friends. Emily usually is a fairly calm and collected individual. All of that goes away when it’s just her and Petra. She becomes a bit of a snuggle bug when Petra is around. Petra also taught Emily how to conjure a seeing eye familiar, a bat named Olive, so they are uniquely bonded.
Lyria Peregrine
Lyria is usually the mom friend when everyone else is around. Emily and Lyria together? Recipe for disaster. Neither of them can hold their liquor and both are very bubbly drunks. Very fun for everyone involved.
Aerin Curridan
They really don’t talk much. That’s not to say they don’t know each other EXTREMELY well, but Emily can read Aerin’s emotions and Aerin has worked with more than enough people to know how to read Emily’s thoughts and subtle facial expressions. They don’t talk, but they DO say a lot to each other.
Verity Xanderia
The most polarizing friendship in the hold. Emily loves being in the water. It helps her get out of her head for a few minutes. Verity also knows better than to hide things from Emily. Verity’s emotions are on full display for ONLY Emily and they have a weird flavor of trust.
Marasenna
Emily keeps Senna calm. Emily senses so much in Senna that she struggles to keep a lid on her emotions when Senna’s around. It doesn’t mean they aren’t friends, but it does limit Emily’s exposure to Senna.
Haley
Two very different, clashing world perspectives. Haley’s life is logic, science, and analysis. Emily is very much emotion, conjecture, and sympathy. This puts them at odds a lot of the time and makes it hard for them to get along.
Ascella Ylteryn
Death is their bread and butter. These two are a deadly combo. Think Emily Kaldwin and Corvo Attano. Two very focused and intelligent beings that could dismantle governments. The best liars in the business. They also communicate very well and have similar thought patterns, which makes them very good friends.
Teyra Fellspark
Sparring partners. They also are the cool heads of the group, so they often have the most relaxing conversations. They also are the most centered and attentive, so they usually pick up on the most smallest details. Put Aerin with them and there is NO way anybody is getting away with anything.

Part three. This is too fun and it’s giving me some stories to explore. It also helps me know where their relationship is gonna start so that I can build from there. @ebevkisk
How Ascella feels about her teammates:
Petra Naverrian
Ascella sees Petra as a hypocrite. Both hemocraft and necromancy are taboo in Cor Varias and the fact that they both abuse these and Petra continues to dismiss Ascella as beyond help despite needing hers fills her with a deep annoyance that stops them from even considering friendship. Both are unaware how similar they are.
Lyria Peregrine
Lyria is naturally curious (pun intended). Ascella and Lyria are an interesting pairing because they both come from the fringes of society and they are both interested in where the other person came from. Ascella also shows her softer sides to Lyria unintentionally.
Emily Cordalith
The person that Ascella usually finds herself standing next to in meetings. Emily is surrounded by a very unique aura of death that excites her. Ascella also can’t hide anything from Emily and she knows it, so she feels herself relax around her.
Aerin Curridan
Study buddies. Ascella once was reading in the lounge and accidentally speaking out loud and Aerin overheard and offered her opinion. Not only did it help, but Ascella started coming to Aerin when she needed to brainstorm. Aerin thinks it’s sweet.
Verity Xanderia
Nightmare combo in a good way. Verity, being a master of the mind and Ascella, a master of the soul? This spells trouble. These two get along famously and can be surprisingly wholesome despite their grim specialties. Ascella also sees Verity in a very honest light and it’s endearing to Ascella.
Marasenna
Ascella knows Senna’s reputation as well as circumstances. They make for very good friends and Ascella feels like she can be vulnerable around her. Weird because of how much of a chaos gremlin Senna is, but she does a surprisingly good job.
Haley
Evil geniuses. They spend a lot of time together. A lot of it is in a lab and it’s like two kids in a playhouse. Bouncing ideas off of each other and talking about how the world works. If Ascella had a brain twin, it would be Haley.
Teyra Fellspark
Ascella sees Teyra as her silence friend. You ever have those moments where you and a friend just sit in dead quiet and just be in each other’s space? That’s how these to are. Teyra doesn’t seem to mind and even enjoys it to some degree.

flash of light
for @nosebleedclub‘s december writing prompt viii: flash of ___
“Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen,” came Aurin Aubrey’s even voice.
Riela narrowed her eyes. Mama, too, glared at the radio, but she didn’t change the station yet. It had been a week since anyone had heard from the Nidtrin radio announcer. The man who stole his way onto the airwaves and talked extremisms. The last time he’d been seen or heard from, was at the Evianne Temple bombing inside the Wall.
“This message is for all ears,” Aurin continued. “To those who think that your Berthingtonn is impenetrable: know that this is not truly your city. You will come to peace with this as I have.”
Riela let out a slow breath. She forced herself to keep listening. This is how they might know what the Teyrae Kyndagr were planning. The entire dining room was silent aside from Aurin’s voice.
“However,” he said. “If you are part of one of the many establishments who have been treating my folks so poorly, consider yourself on notice. We will be making visitations and expressing our displeasure.”
“Fuck that,” Rinnie growled from upstairs. Riela remembered that Rinnie had been at the Evianne Temple bombing.
“To the faithful, feel free to visit anywhere you wish,” Aurin said. “You are free in the care of our Lady to do as you please.”
Mama’s hand reached for the dial.
“We have already shown that we will go and do as we please. The assault on the whore goddess Evianne serves still as an example of our capabilities. Those who survived only because we wished them to.”
“That is not…” Rinnie’s voice was louder. Riela looked up to see Rinnie up against the railing of the library mezzanine. Killian shushed her.
“And to those listeners who have spurned the Lady’s grace,” Aurin continued in that awfully calm voice. “We are coming for you. You will return to the flock, or you will die.”
Chills ran down Riela’s spine. From the library, Riela saw a flash of light.
“Rin,” Killian said, the word short. “Not a good idea.”
He clamped his hand over Rinnie’s fist. The look on Rinnie’s face was startled and confused.
“I think we’ve heard enough,” Mama said, turning the station at last.
“The next time I see him, he will pay for what he did to me, to my sisters,” Rinnie howled. “He didn’t let us survive! We forcibly removed his ass from our Temple!”
She yanked her arm away from Killian and stormed away. His eyes followed her. Riela noted that her hair seemed to be frizzier than it had been earlier.
