Ares: That riff would sound cool in between the chorus and second verse. What do you think?
Gabriel: It could work. We’re not a bad trio you know. You sure you want us to put out an ad for another drummer?
Ares: I mean, I don’t mind doing this a while longer.
Gum: But?
Ares: I dunno if I want to do music forever.
Gum: Really??
Ares: I love music, but I also feel like it’s safe. I could always try going back to school for something else but also… It’s been six years.
Gabriel: College is pretty expensive too, man. I wouldn’t blame you if you skipped out on it.
Ares: I guess I should think about something. Fast.
Gabriel: Well no, not necessarily.
Ares: But I feel like I’m running out of time.
Gabriel: Ok, chill. Ares, my guy you are barely in your twenties. You haven’t even reached a quarter of your life-
Ares: Next year I will. Also how do you know I’m living til one hundred?
Gabriel: DUDE!
Ares: Sorry.
Gabriel gets up
Gabriel: What I was trying to say, BEFORE I was interrupted, is you’ve done a lot of amazing things so far, you still have time to change things up though. You always will. Do you know how many grannies go back to school to get a degree?
Gum: Hella grannies.
Gabriel: Right. So take your time, explore stuff and enjoy your life a little.
Ares: Fine-uh. I’m gonna grab a drink, y’all want anything?
Gabriel: I’m good.
Gum: Same!
-
Chase: Working late? Be honest with me Robin.
Robin: So it’s a problem when I do it but you’re able to leave for weeks whenever?
Chase: There’s a difference, you know exactly where I’m at.
Robin: I didn’t take you for someone who is paranoid Chase.
Ares: [ whispers ] Gum?
Gum: I changed my mind.
Ares: I’m sorry you had to see that.
Gum: I’m sorry you gotta deal with that. We can start having practice at my place if you want. My parents
don’t mind us using their garage.
Ares: Thank you.
Gum: Of course bestie for the restie.
Ares: [ giggle snorts ] WHAT?!
Robin: Ares?
Ares: Shit, let’s go.

Adore You
Astarion x Reader
Summary: Your daughter has a specific toy she loves the most.
Tessele loved playing around the house.
She had a love for animals.
Those poor chickens and squirrels that stumbled into your garden, unsuspecting.
She loved chasing them around but more than anything, she loved horses.
You blamed your husband for her love.
When she was just a little baby, Astarion decided one day to carve a toy for her. He thought long and hard as to what animal to choose.
He ended up with a simple horse and Tessele fell in love with the wooden toy the second she got it.
She adored the gift so much, she always had it in her hands, she even lost it a couple times, leaving you and your beloved to search for it.
It was honestly so heartwarming to see just how much Astarion adored Tessele.
You remember the moment you told him about your pregnancy, he barely wanted to believe you.
“Are you joking? It’s a rather cruel joke, My Love.” he said.
“I’m not! It’s the truth! I got confirmation today. I am with child!”
But the disbelief never left his face.
Only once your belly began to show did he really believe you.
“You weren’t playing jokes on me.” he said as he watched you caress your stomach, a small baby bump showing as you smiled at him with pure love.
He placed his palm against your belly and let out a small laugh.
“I’m going to be a father.”
You often feared he wouldn’t want to be a father. That he would reject the idea of a child with you, but as his gentle fingers massaged your back to ease your discomfort or the way he would so gently kiss the exact place on your skin where your child kicked, his actions proved you wrong.
And you were glad he did.
You thought nothing could top the happiness in his eyes during your pregnancy, but then you were proven wrong.
The moment she was born, Tessele became the center of your world.
The beautiful little girl looked much like her father, but had your eyes.
You often caught Astarion standing in her room, watching her sleep at any time of the day.
He just stood there, careful not to wake her as he looked at her with nothing but adoration.

The first time Suguru and Shoko kiss, it's on a beach. The beach of a lake to be sure, but still a beach, sand between the grasses, cool breeze off the water, a patterned blanket on the shore.
You and Satoru have been talking, laughing quietly, lounging, distantly aware of Suguru and Shoko walking slowly where the water laps against their sandals.
And then Satoru looks up, half frozen, almost unsure. You're looking at him from the side, his glimmering lamplight eyes a little wide behind his sunglasses. You follow his gaze, and you think Suguru has done this on purpose, angling himself so he's basically three-quarters profile and Shoko's face is just hidden enough all you can read is her body language.
Suguru is taller than her, taller than almost everyone you meet, but Shoko doesn't lean back as Suguru tilts his head towards her, speaking softly. One hand is in his pocket and that's the only sign to you, from this distance, that he might be nervous, and you smile automatically, imagining him turning the lining out because it's sticking to his knuckles and ruining that carefully cultivated image of perfection.
You're sure Satoru hasn't moved and you haven't breathed, torn between an odd kind of jealousy and a vaguely energetic anticipation that reminds you of being seventeen again. You want Shoko to be happy. And... even though you've skirted the edge of this for years, will this make her happy?
You startle when Satoru grabs your hand, his fingers crushing the bones. "Ouch," you hiss out, involuntary, but also because you're pretty sure he's not aware he's doing this.
"Sorry," he mutters, but he doesn't release your hand, just crushes it somewhat more comfortably, the blanket bunched between the edges of your palms. You can feel the shifting coarseness of sand under the weave and his nails digging in between the gaps of your fingers. You'd glance down at his hand clasped so tight around yours but you don't want to miss the show, morbid and suspenseful as it is.
The way Satoru's fingers tug in so they're curled towards your palm almost tells you the same. It reminds you of the way you'd clung to one another the last time Suguru and Shoko played Resident Evil.
Shoko isn't the kind of person who chases after others. So it means something, that Suguru has finally come to her. He had been the one it seems to gather all of your disparate souls together and bundle you into one.
When Shoko tilts her head up in acceptance it is with the faintest visible smile as Suguru yields to her, half bowing. Your breath catches as she cups his elbow, the same arm apparently trapped by pride in his pocket.
There's little fanfare as their lips meet. Everything is entirely silent - they're too far away for any noise to make it this far without them shouting, and Satoru has stopped breathing too.
They pull apart, lips moving in words just between them, and when they kiss again, that's when you and Satoru start cheering nearly at once. Whooping and hollering and generally making a truly embarrassing amount of ruckus. Even without a lot of change in expression, Shoko looks exasperated, although Suguru finally fidgets enough to get a hand to wave with, his other still on Shoko's waist.
She allows it and that's enough to make something flip in your stomach like the fish that had evaded all of you earlier this morning. Things might be different from now on, things left unsaid finally spoken, all your orbits altering just a little, but she's letting that hand stay, and when they walk back and you meet her eyes, she tilts her head, like she's saying yes. All your threads tied together, all your tethers anchored as one.
Satoru practically tackles Suguru, although not hard enough for either of them to hit the ground and Shoko actually smiles even as the configuration of limbs and hands and attention tessellates.
Magic can spin something from nothing.
The tension in your forehead and jaw fade a little as she settles by your hip, practiced at getting out of the way of the other two's flailing limbs.
May this be the worst magic you ever know.

Marty’s favorite Hannibal fics
Hi!! I’ve been reading a lot of hannibal fics recently, sooooo I’m gonna make here a list of my favorite ones.
Canonverse
✿ The Long Weekend by Devereauxs_Disease [42k words]
Feed your dogs, leave a note for Alana. It had been such a tempting offer, one that buzzed around in Will's mind. He responded on instinct, pressing his mouth to Hannibal's. Then, he ran for all he was worth... When Hannibal finally finds him, he makes a proposal: Spend one weekend together, and make a decision once and for all about his and Hannibal's fate. Can Will still play Hannibal to get the evidence he and Jack need? Or is he playing a new game now?
✿ A Postcard and a Knife by Canis_cosmos [37k words] - canon divergence S03 E05.
Pushed from his train and relying on a hallucinated stag to lead him to Florence, Will is drawn up short when he reaches a junction and his guide disappears. The path he chooses leads him to the right place, but entirely the wrong time. ...Or: Will needs pre-med Hannibal's help, and has to avoid becoming Il Monstro's latest art project without revealing the truth of their relationship.
✿ one more kiss before we turn the lights off by akadefenders [7549 words]
Will comes home to what he expects to be an empty home as Walter and Molly are away visiting his grandparents. What he comes home to is an old flame...
✿ Conditioned Stimulus by harleygirl2648 [1779 words]
It turns out you can train your husband and your dog with similar methods, as long as they both get a treat. Or, Will Graham is a manipulative little shit who tries Hannibal's nerves.
✿ Storm Chasing by Devereauxs_Disease [1467 words]
Prompt Fill: Will finds out that Hannibal doesn't like storms. He figures out how to help his favorite people eater forget about the storm.
✿ SnowStorm by reflectiveless [8013 words]
Hannibal is over at Will’s house during a snowstorm and power outage. He doesn’t react as expected and hides in Will’s closet until the danger is over. Will does his best to take care of his therapist.
✿ Once More by Simbeline [5539 words]
More than 10 years after the Fall, Will Graham and Hannibal Lecter are living together, presumed long dead by the FBI. When Will goes fishing in the morning as usual, he accidentally stumbles through time and meets his younger self. Despite being happy with how his life turned out, he decides to risk meddling a little.
✿ tessellation by bleakmidwinter [5373 words]
Hannibal and Will are caught. Jack interrogates them both to gauge Will's innocence.
✿ Sweet Dream (or Beautiful Nightmare) by Ravenne86 [5555 words]
This is a fic that came to being based on this prompt: "post-TWOTL Will wakes up sweaty and agitated from nightmares, Hannibal soothes him by touch"
✿ When It Rains by BonesAndScales [3068 words]
In which Will desperately needs a hug. And who is Hannibal to refuse?
✿ Photobomb by Devereauxs_Disease [21k words]
When Hannibal pops up next to Will in an FBI Academy graduation photo, the result is innocent enough...until Will's coworkers play with photoshop and make the image so much worse. Will would laugh it off, but it seems he can't take a picture without Hannibal showing up in the background. Can Will shake his persistent photo buddy? And more importantly...does he want to?
✿ Your Ex by murdertrout [3810 words]
We usually assume that Will clammed up about his past when he was with Molly. But what if actually Will tells Molly way, way, way too much about his relationship with Hannibal? Or, the one where Will starts talking about his “ex" and doesn't stop.
✿ Scent of a Woman by Devereauxs_Disease [4860 words]
After the fall, Will assumed he and Hannibal would progress to a romantic relationship. So when Hannibal comes home smelling of fancy perfume, Will is...distressed. How do serial killers handle jealousy and romantic confessions? Not well, y'all...NOT WELL.
✿ Dancing with the Beast by proser [86k words]
In order to catch a mediocre serial killer, Will must pose as Hannibal's date for a series of pretentious social events. Hannibal is dramatic and jealous as ever, and Will is having a great time without the encephalitis. Of course, it's a love story.
✿ Room for Two by Devereauxs_Disease [3069 words]
Everything is going exactly as Hannibal planned. He, Jack, and Will are forced off the road and must stop for the night at a motel - where there are only two beds. Unfortunately, Jack decides that he and Will are going to bunk up, giving Dr. Lecter the nice single bed. This...is not part of Hannibal's plan. But Dr. Lecter has never been afraid of a little improvisation.
✿ Just One Night by Churchb0y [2341 words]
The tension rises between Hannibal Lecter and Will Graham when the two are forced to share a hotel room the night before inspecting a new crime scene. There had already been tension between the two these last few weeks, but Will could simply decide to pretend it wasn’t there. Now that he was spending a night with Dr. Lecter though, he had no way out of it.
✿ Love in the Time of Corona by Devereauxs_Disease [32k words]
Will and Jack are wrapping up a case outside of Chicago when a shelter-in-place order strands them at their motel. Will is frantic trying to find someone to take care of his dogs. Alana is busy, but luckily her boyfriend volunteered to look after all seven of Will's dogs. Will sheltering-in-place show Will a different side to Hannibal? Or will the cannibal crack when the dog hair starts to pile up?
✿ Something Else by HotMolasses [2137 words]
“Why didn’t you pull away, Will?” he said, genuine curiosity in his voice. “When I was mere inches from you, with a deadly blade in my hand, you leaned toward me. Did you hope I would kill you?” “Because I wasn’t thinking you were going to gut me.” he said. “When you put your hand on my face, stroked my cheek I thought…” the room blurred around the edges because Will had kept his eyes fixed to a single spot on the floor for so long. Now he forced them to look into Hannibal’s face. “I thought you were going to do something else.”
✿ Friends don't frame friends: a lesson for a clueless cannibal by canniballadyfelixtristis [5041 words]
Ear? What ear? Will Graham doesn’t try to thwart Hannibal Lecter’s plans for him. He just does. By accident. And then on purpose.
✿ Golden Promises by Shotgun_sinner [68k words] - season 1 divergent as of Sorbet.
Will stays for the dinner party, where he may or may not hallucinate that Dr. Lecter is wearing a gold plug in front of his friends. Hannibal gets Will treated for his encephalitis, and they grow closer in Will's recovery than they ever were before. The maybe hallucination keeps Will up at night, and he learns that the feelings he has for Hannibal might not be platonic after all.
✿ Google It by Devereauxs_Disease [3928 words]
Will knows that Hannibal is checking up on his Google searches, so he decides to check up on his cannibal's inquiries. Will Google searches bring them together or tear them apart?
✿ Good Cannibal, Sit by Devereauxs_Disease [1678 words]
When Will won't tell him why he's being a sour Graham Cracker, Hannibal decides to give him some mushroom tea and see what happens. He was expecting emotional revelations, instead he gets a weird hallucination and ear scritches....
✿ Consenting to Dream by emungere [32k words]
A seduction through physical objects. It starts with a scarf loaned to Will on a cold day, but Hannibal, as usual, isn't satisfied with anything small.
✿ SERIES: We Shall All Be Healed by coloredink [3 works, 11k words]
Hannibal and Will do drugs together. That's it. That's the series.
✿ SERIES: Fluffy Murder Husbands by harleygirl2648 [29 works, 73k words]
✿ SERIES: Professor Will Graham by americandreamboat [5 works, 7381 words]
AUs
✿ Crystalline by The Druid Girl [59k words] - Stripper!Hannibal AU (sort of)
The proprietor of a successful restaurant, Hannibal (who may or may not be a serial killer and definitely WAS an exotic dancer in his youth) is coerced by an old acquaintance to take a job dancing at a bachelor party. When he shows up, he realizes a mistake has been made, but he also realizes something far more interesting: the groom to be is hotter than Mt. Vesuvius. Circumstance and intent lead the boys where it always should: into bed. A lot.
✿ Lean On Me by OneWhoSitsWithTurtles [2205 words]
Written for the airport-related AU prompt: "I fell asleep on your shoulder and you were too polite to move or wake me up AU" with a Hannigram twist.
✿ The Secret Existence of Hannigram by Rising_Phoenix [6000 words]
Hannibal and Will have been married for three years when Jack Crawford approaches Hannibal with the request to assess Will - a marriage nobody knows about, and the couple has way too much fun with this.
✿ Professor Graham's Cheekbones Hotty & Extraordinary Foodie Husband by TheSilverQueen [3320 words]
Online classes due to the quarantine are how Professor Graham's students learn that: 1) Professor Graham has a cute dog; 2) Professor Graham is married; and 3) Professor Graham's husband is smoking hot.
✿ In Sickness and in Health by BonesAndScales [76k words]
Everyone knows that Will and Hannibal are married. Not everyone knows that they are married to each other.
✿ Diamond in the Ruff by Ericurrr [12k words]
Will Graham loves dogs but can’t have them in his apartment. When he gets fired from his job as a dog walker, he turns to walking shelter dogs and bonds with a group of seven misfits. While walking his beloved bunch of shelter dogs he runs into Hannibal. Literally. Little does Will know that Hannibal has been watching Will from afar and wants to give him everything his heart desires, starting with a home and all his dogs from the shelter.
✿ Falls the Shadow by littlesystems [72k words]
An AU where Bedelia is Will’s psychiatrist instead of Hannibal, Will makes a series of increasingly questionable life choices, and no one should ever take Bedelia’s advice. Ever.
Hannibal extended universe
✿ A Fucking Parent Trap Scenario by Devereauxs_Disease [26k]
After smelling Freddie Lounds on Will, Hannibal realizes he's been betrayed. Despondent, and plotting a bloody dinner party, Hannibal finds himself in an upscale bar. Nigel suggests a swap based on his favorite movie - The Parent Trap. What happens when Hannibal and Nigel switch lives? Well, let's find out together, shall we?

Whumptober 09. Terminus
Obsession: Broken Window | Bruises | "Frame me up on the wall, just to keep me out of trouble"
The chase had lost its course, and Rafa had come to the room of her second childhood--the chamber she had thought herself finally severed from when she'd fled the fortnight prior.
It surprised her little to find it unaltered in her absence.
None of it touched: the bottle of Romandan perfume on the inlaid table, the abstract leadglass window of tessellating crimson and gold, the gauzy canopy atop a stale, unmade bed. If the Grand Duke had ever come here in the weeks prior, he had not set anything out of place. All was as it was on the day she left… as it had been on the night prior.
Rafa steadied her breath, let the wild beating of her heart slacken. She tried to remember the direction from which she had last heard footfalls. She felt her fingers grow numb around the grip of her sword. There was another flash from the storm.
Her eyes opened, narrowed as she saw a shadow pass somewhere beyond the glass, and without thinking, she pushed her blade and the tight-balled fist holding it through to the other side.
She would not slacken or stop now. All things were coming to their terminus.

just finished my NtN reread so you know what that means—more TLT lists!! spoilers ahead for Nona the Ninth.
Resurrection Beasts in The Locked Tomb Series
Mercymorn saw it as “a great and incoherent machine” which she thought had a great tail and a thousand broken pillars on its back. Cassiopeia saw it as “a mechanical monster with swords for wings, and great horns of myelin, tessellated over with graves.” (htn 338) Status: Dead?
Fell soon after resurrection (htn p43), spewed quicksilver and remade itself into hundred foot spikes (htn 338). Status: Dead?
? Status: Alive?
Was a humanoid creature with a beautiful face who held Mercymorn under the water (of the River) and spoke in a lovely voice repeating, “die, die” (htn 338). Status: Dead?
? Status: Alive?
Drawn into ultramassive black hole by cyrus “[it] better be dead, because cyrus won’t be coming back.” (htn p43), kept sucking the lyctors into enormous sphincters and spraying them with worms, Mercy can’t even remember what it looked like (htn 338). Status: Dead
This is the one chasing them in HtN. would make a sort of sick sense if it is Venus with Cytherea killed last book. bug themed? (the heralds are anyway.) this is also the one that Cassiopeia died baiting the physical form of into the river (htn 333). “Blue like Loveday’s eyes!” G1deon dies fighting it. Pyrrha says it “got away” at the end of HtN before Augustine drops the entire Mithraeum into the River. In NtN, Number Seven is dubbed Varun the Eater and chats with Nona a bit via Judith Deuteros. Status: Alive
Cost a man’s immortal soul “I still see that day in my dreams” (htn p43) probably Ulysses? (htn 333 + he’s the only male lyctor left.) Definitely Ulysses (htn 335). He wrestled the RB through the stoma. It’s described as “a giant head” by G1deon and by Augustine as “finned like a fish” with ribs as bloody bandages and teeth protruding through its skull, “tangled about its face like a nest,” red with a single green eye that moved all around its body (htn 338). Status: Dead
Alecto probably? unclear if she’s being included in Jod’s count, but it would explain his initial discrepancy. Status: Alive
additional notes:
jod says 3 left, originally 9, killed 5. harrow notices his math doesn’t line up but doesn’t say anything. missing RB is probably alecto.
cass lasted 7 min in the river before being torn apart by ghosts, trying to bait RB. RB emerged from river 20 min later unscathed. (htn p97)
augustine says of number 7 (or RBs in general), “it is a revenant…a revenant of a specific hell.” the emperor follows, “once defeated, it can be forced down into the abyss, and from there it will not return.” august adds, “we hope. oh, lord, do we ever hope.” (htn 175)
The most permanent solution to ending RBs has been to force their soul through the River and into the stoma. The physical form cannot be bombed due to the density of heralds that surround it and it’s propensity to drive any lyctor nearby insane. (htn 337)
As seen in NtN, necromancers (that is a necromancer soul in a necromancer body) are driven mad and cannot perform necromancy while under the influence of said madness which also affects their overall physical health, being potentially lethal even without the RB being fully substantiated from the River. The disease seems to spread/be influenced by light, and can be controlled or the effects lessened by blinding necromancers.
The RBs don’t match the house order perse, nor the planet order necessarily. They’re numbered in discovery order (except potentially Alecto).
as always, feel free to add on or let me know if i messed something up! these were my personal notes taken on a reread with page citations base on the american paperback version for htn and the hardcover for ntn.

Spacetime Shenanigans: How Euclid and Escher Broke My Brain and Made Me Love Math
Picture this: you're sipping your third caramel macchiato of the day, your brain buzzing like a meme stock on Reddit, and suddenly, you're sucked into a vortex of geometric madness. That's right, folks! Today, we're diving headfirst into the twisted, mind-bending world of space geometry—from the sensible lines of Euclid to the brain-melting illusions of M.C. Escher. Hold onto your hats, my lovely mathletes, because this rollercoaster is about to defy all your expectations and maybe even the laws of physics!
Let's kick things off with Euclid, the granddaddy of geometry, the man who thought a straight line was the pinnacle of artistic achievement. Imagine Euclid at a party. He's the guy with a ruler, making sure the chips are aligned perfectly on the table. His world was flat, man. Seriously flat. So flat that if Euclid had lived in the era of flat-earthers, he would've been their poster boy. But Euclid's obsession with points, lines, and angles gave us the foundations of geometry, or what I like to call "Geometry for Dummies."
But Euclid's world was too simple, too neat. Enter M.C. Escher, the Salvador Dalí of geometry, who looked at Euclid's tidy lines and said, "Hold my beer." Escher was that one art kid in school who never paid attention but somehow aced every math test. He didn't just break the rules—he turned them inside out, folded them into a Möbius strip, and made them chase their own tails. Escher's works are a testament to what happens when you mix geometry with a healthy dose of LSD and a side of existential crisis.
Take "Relativity," one of Escher's most famous pieces. This artwork is a visual representation of what it feels like to walk into IKEA and realize you have to assemble that five-drawer dresser yourself. It's a world where gravity is more of a suggestion than a rule, where staircases lead to nowhere, and your brain does somersaults trying to figure out which way is up. If Euclid's geometry is a well-behaved golden retriever, Escher's is a mischievous cat that knocks things off shelves just to watch them fall.
But wait, there's more! Escher didn't just mess with gravity; he also played with tessellations. Tessellations, for those of you who missed that episode of Sesame Street, are patterns made up of shapes that fit together perfectly without any gaps. Imagine a bathroom floor tiled by a stoner who just discovered a kaleidoscope, and you've got the gist. Escher's tessellations often featured interlocking creatures—fish, birds, lizards—morphing into one another in a seamless, trippy dance. It's like watching a Pixar movie on mushrooms, where every frame is a new adventure in symmetry and illusion.
Now, let's talk about non-Euclidean geometry, the mathematical equivalent of trying to understand Inception after six shots of tequila. Non-Euclidean geometry is what happens when you take Euclid's flat plane and warp it like Doctor Strange playing with reality. In this warped world, parallel lines might meet, triangles can have more than 180 degrees, and Pythagoras would probably have a nervous breakdown. It's the geometry of curved spaces, the kind you find in the fabric of the universe (but let's not use the word "fabric" because that's too pedestrian).
In non-Euclidean geometry, space is more flexible than a Cirque du Soleil contortionist. Imagine a giant ball—this is spherical geometry, where the shortest distance between two points is a curved line. This isn't just theoretical mumbo-jumbo; it's the kind of math that makes GPS satellites work. Without it, Google Maps would be about as reliable as a Magic 8-Ball.
Escher's work brilliantly illustrates these concepts, turning abstract math into visual feasts. His "Circle Limit" series, for example, uses hyperbolic geometry to create infinitely repeating patterns within a bounded space. It's like staring into the infinite recursion of a fractal while eating a bag of Doritos—you can't stop, and you're not entirely sure what's happening, but it's glorious.
Let's not forget the pièce de résistance: the concept of infinity. Infinity is that wild cousin at family gatherings who shows up uninvited and never leaves. It's a number, a concept, an idea that stretches beyond our comprehension. And Escher loved playing with infinity like a cat with a laser pointer. His artwork "Drawing Hands" features two hands drawing each other in an endless loop, a visual metaphor for the infinite regress that would make even the most stoic philosopher giggle nervously.
Now, why should we care about this geometric circus? Because, my dear space cadets, this is where physics education with art comes into play. When we fuse art and science, we create a learning experience that’s as captivating as a superhero movie and as mind-expanding as a TED Talk given by Bill Nye on Red Bull. Art helps us visualize complex scientific concepts, making them more accessible and engaging. Escher’s art, with its playful exploration of mathematical ideas, bridges the gap between dry equations and the vivid tapestry (oops, I mean…vivid kaleidoscope) of our imaginations.
So, what have we learned today, my beautiful nerds? We've seen how Euclid laid the groundwork with his straight-laced, no-nonsense approach to geometry. We've marveled at how Escher took those same principles and turned them into a psychedelic wonderland of twisted staircases, impossible objects, and infinite patterns. We've dipped our toes into the bizarre world of non-Euclidean geometry and glimpsed the vast, mind-boggling concept of infinity.
In conclusion, geometry isn’t just about boring triangles and circles. It's a wild adventure through space and time, a journey where math and art collide in a spectacular explosion of creativity and logic. So next time you find yourself staring at an Escher print, remember: you're not just looking at a pretty picture. You're peering into the chaotic, beautiful mind of a genius who saw the world not as it is, but as it could be—an infinite playground of geometric possibilities. And that, my friends, is the true magic of physics education with art. Now, go forth and tessellate!

The Lamplighters League Review (Steam)
For this The Lamplighters League Review, we recruit a team of misfits with unique abilities and unforgettable personalities and chase the Banished Court to the ends of the earth in a mix of real-time infiltration, turn-based tactical combat, and a character-driven story of adventure and intrigue.
The Lamplighters League Review Pros:
- Remarkable graphics. - 15.96GB download size. - Steam achievements. - Full controller support. - Graphics settings - quality preset, fullscreen mode, and resolution, frame rate, v-sync, anti-aliasing, bloom, motion blur, depth of field, screen-space reflections, screen space ambient occlusion, lighting, shadows, volumetric lighting, texture, geometry, tessellation, and visual effects quality. - Text size slider. - Strategy adventure gameplay. - Boot-up options - Paradox launcher or the game. - Paradox account integrated. - Three difficulties - the explorer, the adventurer, and the survivor. - Custom game settings - introductory missions, system tutorials, agent loss, meta-game difficulty, combat difficulty, and phenomena difficulty. - Rendered film-like cutscenes. - Tutorial pop-ups as you play. - You can skip the cutscenes. - Can rebind controls. - Out of combat, you have real-time movement. - Group and ungroup characters at will. When grouped everyone will follow you and not be seen by enemy radars but ungrouped will be seen. - In out-of-combat movement characters all have unique personas like thieves can unlock locked doors and others can steal. - Save when you want. - Recon mode lets you explore an area freely with the camera and click on people to find out information. - You can avoid fights by sneaking. - Full 3D game with 360-degree camera control. - Combat is your turn-based strategy affair like an X Com. - You can swap characters on the fly. - Aiming a weapon will show your chances of hitting and missing. - Dots show on the map for Interactive points. - Excellent soundtrack. - Slams can be performed by a bruiser and with this you can take out multiple enemies at once. The drawback is you only get X amount of them per active mission. - It has a really good French spy film vibe to it all. - You can see enemy circles that once entered will make them suspicious of you. - The turn-based button allows you to set up an ambush and then start a fight. - Excellent animations and takedown sequences. - Fog of war is in play so you can't see everything at once. - Find lore and collectibles around the world. - Many ways to finish the mission. - You can use items and healing in and out of combat. - Optional areas will appear and are much harder self-contained sections but they also house better loot. - Environmental hazards play a big part like setting oil on fire, explosive barrels, or even electrifying water. - Tall grass can make you a harder target. - Full cover system in play from partial to full cover. - Scions are stronger enemies and ones that can not always be beaten so you may have to run away! - Enemies can randomly drop loot. - Excellent level design. - High-up shots grant bonuses. - Stress builds and once full that character has a stress break meaning they flee or shoot at other friendlies. - Uses all the usual suspects like poison, bleeding, blindness, etc. - Mortal danger is the state a character goes into on zero health. Another ally has to reach them and stabilize them within three turns or they die. - At game over you can load the latest save, last checkpoint, give up, or load a particular save file. - Playing the game or a section as a pacifist makes it one of the best strategy puzzle games I have played in a while. - Del Vastos Landing is your safe haven where you go in between missions. - The world map is where you choose missions. - Main and optional side missions. - Agents have four types of equipment - armor, accessories, weapon mods, and pocket items. - Earn exp and level up to get skill points to put into a skill tree. Every agent has their own skill tree. - The supplier menu at your safe haven is a shop to tool up. - Before a mission, you can select your team and their equipment, all with a cool plane backdrop. - Honestly feels like a film. - Acolytes are crazy kamikaze style enemies. - I love the banter and interaction between all the characters. - Memorable characters. - Scourge enemies are shock Troopers and use flanking maneuvers. - You can find supplies in missions, they don't take up inventory space or an item slot. - Vaulting is available to everyone. - Every encounter just feels fun to play. - Agents attacks and abilities are all governed by action points (AP) and some attacks can earn you bonus AP. - When it clicks it's almost magical. - If an enemy has the key or objective you need they get marked. - Enforcers are the heavies of the game with automatic weapons and satchel charges. - Pick up special items that can reset cooldowns. - Dripping in style and atmosphere. - Set pieces usually trigger a handy flyover of the area. - The Undrawn Hand mechanic is where each agent has blank cards, as you find/earn experiences in a mission it creates a card and these once equipped change how they fight. - You can discard/break down unwanted cards for ink that is used to power unit cards. - Recruitment missions net you a new agent and they get extra skill points to catch up with the rest of the team. - Sentinel enemies are your snipers. - Just one more go is a strong pull here. - Missions always take 3 agents. - You can send additional agents out on search expeditions. - Gets very addictive. - The group of agents even when a new one comes in, feels like a family. - Intel is needed to send agents out on search expeditions. - The majority of the time you get told what the mission reward is or what you will unlock. - Multiple choice on the mission selects for the one you don't select disappears for a time. - It's the whole atmosphere and vibe the game gives off, it is intoxicating and inviting. - I always wanted to see what's next, what will this new member add to my game. The Lamplighters League Review Cons: - Either a real system hog or badly optimized on PC for my i7 RTX cannot get it running nicely. - To share items you have to drop said item and then the character who wants it picks it up. - The camera goes crazy in some of the action shots. - Had the game get stuck on combat turns and had no way to fix it but quit the game and restarted. - When using an environment like up high all the abilities and movement mess up like not registering properly. - You never feel like you know everything you need to. - Saving and loading isn't as fast as you would like. - The inventory system always feels like it's clunky, not always ideal. - Cannot do any management stuff like reloading guns etc. - After fights, it's always a case of regrouping and if you forget then you have some backtracking to do. - You forget constantly that it doesn't autosave so you end up replaying huge chunks of the mission. - Skill points are shared among the agents. - I don't like how I'm forced to buy all skill tree unlocks so I get access to the next tier in some places. - Enemy locations or alerts are very short. - The difficulty regardless of setup is up and down. - Slow starter with a lot to take in. - It really needs a quick save and a quick load. - No way to speed up the enemy's turn. - You don't see a move order/list. - Have been shot and shot through containers and walls. - Never sure when it has actually been saved. The Hallway
I am in a hallway. I was in a hallway. I will be in a hallway. Soon, I will have been in a hallway. Before, I had been in a hallway. If I had made different choices, I still would have been in a hallway.
The carpet is blue and purple triangles, with the occasional black circle thrown in, and the walls are plain drywall spiced up with colorful surrealism and abstract paintings. Between most paintings are doors. Rustic doors. Modern glass doors. Doors with a knob, doors with a handle, doors with no keyhole, doors with five. Doors with hinges, doors that slide, shattered doors, unbroken doors. None of them lead to anything good. The only way to stay—somewhat—safe is to remain in the hallway.
I trudge onward, desperate to leave yet resigned to the fact that there is no escape. On the ceiling, round bulbs set into recesses flicker and threaten to blink on for the last time. I am not afraid of the darkness; nothing ever changes here. The lights flicker but they do not turn off. My only company is my shadow.
Maybe I’ll go through a door, just for a change. But I know I won’t; nothing good lurks behind those doors. Sometimes an absence of everything; sometimes an abundance of everything; and sometimes, just sometimes, I find more shadows. I don’t like finding shadows where there’s no light to cast them.
Gazing around, I stop to inspect a painting covered with red and orange slashes and swirls. It looks like a beast made of fire clawed marks in the canvas. I turn away, as it’s pretty, but just another painting.
How long have I been here? I don’t know; it’s been at least a full day but less than a month. It’s hard to tell with no windows or timepieces, and I never seem to become hungry or thirsty.
Why am I even still walking? There isn’t any point, after all. I halt, slowly sitting to rest on the slightly scratchy carpet and cool drywall. I close my eyes, wishing for sleep.
It’s been so long since I’ve slept, eaten, or drunk anything. “Although, at this point, I’d be content with seeing someone else,” I say aloud, my voice raspy from disuse.
“You want to see us?” someone whispers. I leap up, breathing hard and turning in circles, trying to spot who—or what—said that. I set eyes on nothing but the ever-static corridor. Did I imagine those words? Maybe I’m going insane.
No, I promise myself that I will get out of here. I start to walk again, but I can’t remember which way I was heading; the hallway stretches out equally far in both directions and I don’t remember the paintings well enough to use them as landmarks. A panic I haven’t felt since I first became trapped here floods through me. I don’t know which way to turn.
“No, not that way!” something giggles. Okay, forget about which way is forward and which is backward, because I’m running away from that voice.
Rubber soles gaining traction on blue and purple tessellated carpet, my feet pull me down the hallway. Art pieces and drywall blend into a colored blur. Until they don’t. The lights are off. Effectively blind, I stop, heaving air in and out to catch my breath.
“Stay here! We’ll take care of you!” I hear from my left.
“No, run away! We’ll chase you!” I hear from my right.
“No, no. We’ll eat you! We’re always hungry when we don’t get any visitors!” I hear from behind me.
“No, that’s all wrong! We’ll save you for later!” I hear from beneath my feet. I don’t want to be eaten, but I don’t think I have much say in the matter unless I run away.
Despite the lack of light, I sprint forward, smacking into the walls a couple times before I find a rhythm. Laughing sounds from all around me. I just can’t escape. Terror washes over me, not that I wasn’t panicking before now. I wish this place was as abandoned as it appeared.
Because I can’t see anything, I trip, headfirst, into a hole the things that want to eat me must have made to trap me. I fall and fall and fall for I don’t know how long. Until I’m not falling anymore.
I sit on my couch, at home. Was all of that just a dream? I certainly hope so, but the painting covered with red and orange slash marks on my wall says otherwise.

ask the maximum of yourself
‘Do you know how to pray? … Not pray the Lord’s Prayer, but ask something of yourself, ask the maximum of yourself?’
Lispector
‘Nature loves to hide.’
Heraclitus
My boundaries invite the void to take my shape in my unique articulation, accentuation. I am a vase whose inner hollow is one of its most purposeful attributes. I pray to the infinite to which I am but a container to. The divine is all that I am lacking, and the pursuit of this emptiness shapes my life’s purpose. I seek negative space and chase shadows. Only mist, wisps of air pass through my fingers, and I return to where I started, coming full circle empty-handed.
I cajole the dark side of the moon to tell me of the dark side of the world I inhabit, and all the prehistoric events that have transpired since the days of dog-sized insects and leather-winged pterodactyls– or were they perhaps feathered? What has the crust of this planet borne witness to that now has returned to abundant humus, invited by gravity to retreat back into the depths of the earth, as surely as we all must do? How claustrophobic, how suffocating would existence be if we didn't dance the jig of the cosmic reshuffle? As celestial bodies rotate in their clockwork cycles, finding the same position in the void –that is, if we can assume that the void has coordinates– after millenia, in contrast, the sublunar realm progresses onward in a linear motion; or so thought Aristotle, who saw earthly events, enacted by earthly objects, as being impelled by the search to actualise the divine potential. All of existence –not of creation, for God did not create; all came from infinity– choreographs its motion in a homage to the beloved, in imitation of holy rhythms. God is the impartial, disinterested measure that all instruments take as a standard. They seek to develop the closest attunement to the sacred tune. The logic of God, the blueprint of existence, is latent in the being itself, and can be reached not through clasping at a transcendent mist, but by coming to understand the functions of the parts of one’s own material, corporeal presence. The functions of the parts add up to comprise the function of the whole– a puzzle to solve, a mystery to decode. To seek a maximum existence and to reach the full capacity that state-of-being can take is not always an outward expansion but rather can be an unfurling of fractal secrets that tessellate infinitely inward.

Hello, Beanie! Congratulations for 200! I'm looking forward to see more of you. For the event, I would like to request Choso from Jujutsu Kaisen. 📿
I will share my favorite lyrics from Humans by Anyma. This song is very special to me, because it's just very beautiful and dreamy, almost poetic, while describing the weaknesses and strengths of us humans.
Being a human is looking inside us / To see the bright side of the mountains that we used to climb / In the trees, we planted the seeds / Anxiety leaves / Heart in my hands, and I'm chasing the clouds / And I'm facing the crowd / And I pray for the land / Being a human is guiding our demons to finding our freedom / 'Til we're born again
I'm open to sfw/suggestive/nsfw (Age: 26, kinks I like: size kink, praising and worshipping)—any spark that ignites within you! For him, I can imagine a pet name like: Love, or my light/blessing, or just a person's first name.
Thank you. 🤍
hello beautiful!! i’m so happy you requested choso, i hardly do any writing for him but i love him soooo much<333 also this song?? so dope!!
cw: nsfw, minors dni, (no dialogue but implied) body worship, verrrryyy soft
choso felt like he always teetered the line of being a curse or a human. his creation was something of a nightmare, so he tended not to dwell on it too often to avoid an existential crisis. but, aside from his brother yuuji, the only other thing that made him feel real, or remotely human, was you.
whether it be the mundane mornings, the banal chores, or the quiet moments, he was so intrigued by you and your emotions, those feelings that undulated and unraveled within you like a storm upon the seas. he wanted to feel the vastness that you experienced, the surge of chemicals pumping to his brain that elicited such responses.
but what was most raw, most primal, was whenever you were splayed out under him. bodies fit together like puzzle pieces, tessellated like they were meant to be. and that feeling of completeness, to that, choso felt like he was one step closer to being like you.
in those moments of desperate thrusts, of whimpered pleas, choso couldn’t help but sing your praises. he adored everything about you: your beauty, your compassion, the expanse of your mind. all of you beamed up at him, buried beneath the rhythms of your moans.
lips slotted together. choso drank in your sounds, the taste of lust spreading across his taste buds. meanwhile, his hips searched for that special place within your gushing warmth that was always your undoing. something as simple as a spot nestled into those plush walls was, in his mind, a weakness, a soft spot; but it was also considered to be something of an immeasurable strength, given the responses it elicited from his own body.
even if he couldn’t comprehend it, he still sought it out. the sounds that poured from your mouth flowed over his soul, washing him in such a simple feeling - that of adoration, of love.
no matter what physical pain he endured, no matter the torture he used to face, nothing had an effect on him as much as your body when that moment of pleasure washed over you.
there was a glowing thread that connected your souls in that moment. every emotion, every nerve impulse, shot directly from your body to choso’s. it was overwhelming, overpowering his senses easily with everything that he ever dreamed of being.
and as you both tumbled down together, into a respite in each other’s arms, choso buried his face in your shoulder. your body was his anchor, his inspiration, his everything. you made him human.

tessellation
i have looped through fields of time;
the sky has no color and i am all out of things to do
i cave into mundanity, collapsing on its shadow
what is it all for? what is it all for?
the unknown is a black cat and i keep on chasing it and chasing it,
constantly uncovering variations of the same truths
