King Kong (2005) / Naomi Watts as Ann Darrow

The dress Ann wears for the final sequence with Kong strongly recalls the one worn by Fay Wray in the original 1933 film (see below for comparison). It's even more sleek and streamlined, but the clean lines are deceptive. The dress has a surprising amount of detail, from the asymmetrical waist and row of side buttons to the silver shoulder clasps and sprinkling of crystals over the shoulder straps and left hip. There's a sort of reverse cowl neck effect over the shoulder blades, and the skirt falls longer in back than in front. According to this page with a thorough analysis of the dress, it's made of a very thin velvet.

The costume designer for this movie was Terry Ryan.
