"Sooner or later, you'll understand. I had to do this. This is for your own good, okay? Let me take care of you."
I love this for Terry. As terrifying and restrictive and authoritarian as he most definitely is, under the surface, I feel like there's a little ember of well-meaning there. Because his way is obviously the best and only way.
---
Terry is good.
Terry Silver is good.
He's done so good.
Sure, the room to your chambers is locked, and you had carved iron bars on all of your windows installed as a precaution, but that was the way it has to be because it is an extreme measure in a likewise extreme situation. Because you're acting extreme, so he counters you in extreme ways, his hand extremely pushed. Don't you know that the energy you put out into the world is the energy you'll inadvertently get back? The glass you pour into is the glass you drink from? Especially where he was concerned? That if you bite him he'll simply neuter you? De-claw and skin you singlehandedly so you can't do that shit anymore, keeping your hide and teeth as trophies? All these things; plush, velvet gold-embroidered thread pillows. Egyptian cotton covers. Heavy brocade drapes. Antiques. Persian carpets. Original Majolica lamps. Cobalt decorations drawn out in silver ornaments. A window overlooking the skyline of Los Angeles from The Hills for your abode - all of it at the palm of your hand. He's done so well. For you. Terry could and would do even better, if you only let him. There's a pool on the ground-floor. An army of staff, waiting to serve you. A wardrobe he's compiled for you that you haven't even had a chance to check. Twenty eight cars in just one the garages alone. Artwork and jewelry. A private plane, willing to take you anywhere. And him, just a corridor away from your room. What kind of idiot says no to heaven? One in need of being taught a lesson, clearly. And since you were Terry Silver's idiot, the task and the right was his and his alone.
-"Sooner or later, you'll understand. I had to do this. This is for your own good, okay? Let me take care of you."-
He reasons with you, from the other side of the locked door, caressing its edges, like a lover does. Not because he's afraid of you or your tiny, downright amusing fists banging on the hard, massive wooden surface --- far from it --- it entertained him almost, and aggrieved him just as much; this lack of appreciation on your part; Terry could easily subdue you in one swift move and avoiding physical confrontation was not why this door was placed between you and him --- but because you did't deserve to see him. You've been ungrateful. You've lacked discipline. You weren't ready to receive. And he'd teach you to how to receive, in due time. Taught you would be. If you simply smashed up the whole chamber you were kept in and all the beautiful things in it, you'd sleep in a messy, sad wreckage, and that would serve no one but your own discomfort. If you rejected all the fine food you were brought, you'd merely go hungry and torment yourself. If you spat at him he'd wipe it off with his finger placed into his mouth and smile at you, tasting it. But, you wouldn't leave. You wouldn't. Because if an animal could be made to understand --- if an animal that bites could be tamed, have its claws cut, if it could be trained, collared, taught to sit, stand to attention, to expect its bowl when fed, to accept pets, to allow itself be bathed and taught tricks, why should people be any different? Thing is, they weren't. An owner didn't hate their pet when they'd come to the decision to give their animal a time-out by ushering them into their fenced off pen.
It was discipline, and discipline was love. It could be, yes.
Because it taught a higher, more polished form of self.
Got rid of all the weakness, limitations, grime and unnecessary chaos --- all doubt --- took a loved form of rough, rugged clay and made it greater than it ever thought it could become, leaving the doors open for growth and opportunity, and once you were ready to receive, your doors, both figurative and literal, would open too --- and Terry would be patient and wait on the other side, because Terry was good. He could be so good if you only let him.

trouvxilles:
this makes terry stop mid-yawn, an unsatisfying feeling, arms dropping back to his sides after a stretch. “thank god i’m a dog person,” he responds, an amused snort to match, tone only mildly agitated. the sun’s barely up, the sky a nice shade of purple, hints of orange peeking through dark clouds. he hasn’t been awake this early since he quit rotc. it’s definitely been awhile (give or take, a few weeks, but putting a sudden halt to what used to be daily routine has fucked up his body more than he expected it to.) however, jogging a few miles is a whole lot easier when there aren’t many people up and about yet.
“so what’s on our agenda today?” he starts, glancing at the girl. she’s definitely something. “is peter parkour gonna show us some moves or what?”
you really never know what type of stray is lurking nearby. can’t blame her for assuming his signs of fatigue were actually just the death of a beloved ( or not ) pet. it surely sounded like it. or maybe her imagination is just overactive. “more of a bird person myself.” shoulders are shrugging, yeonha thinks they’re more fascinating, appealing, more alike to her own being. yeah, she’s probably pretty comparable to a big dog, has the ability to follow people around like she’s lost, but it’d be considered a compliment if someone said she reminds them of a winged creature. they’re graceful in their own way, elegant. cheetahs are acceptable too -- but it’s obviously more likely for her to own a bird. she’s looking into getting one, too, but the official shopping is probably going to have to wait. she’s going to new zealand soon, and it’d be rude to purchase a little buddy and then up and leave it right away.
“don’t gotta ask twice.” it’s no problem for her to show off whether it’s the ass crack of dawn or the clock’s just stroked midnight. whether it’s down-pouring or sweltering hot, whether the streets are crowded or no one is out. no matter if she’s exhausted or full of energy, she’ll dish something out. it’s nothing extreme, just starts with yeon sprinting ahead, doing what’s referred to as a ‘monkey vault’ over a park bench, followed by a few random flips, and ending with her scaling the nine foot rock wall in front of her landing point. she sits on her bottom all the way up at the top, legs dangling over the edge, mouth wide open to take in breaths quicker. “dare you to recreate it.” she doesn’t have much confidence in him, but it’s really more playful than anything. if she’d start terry off with anything, it’d be one move at a time, not a whole routine without any prior practice. then again, he could be capable of more than she thinks.

Dr. Elsey’s Cleanprotein Dry Cat Food Review
Your beloved cat is part of the family, so it’s your responsibility to take care of her like how you would do it for your kids. One of the most crucial aspects of pet care is choosing the right food. I’ve been living with my cats forever, and I know how difficult it can be to find cat food. There may be hundreds of canned products out there, but some of them fail to deliver. I never intended to feed a feline with typical canned food from the pet store, but Dr. Elsey’s Cleanprotein Formula Dry Cat Food proved me wrong, thus my Dr. Elsey’s cat food review.
Things to Factor in Choosing the Ideal Cat Food
There is more to cat food than what the advertisements and product labels say. Before you start searching for dry cat food, you at least should learn a thing or two about the factors that separate the best one from the rest.
Protein, Lots of It
Your cat’s health depends on the food you give her. Most veterinarians agree that a domesticated feline’s diet should emulate that of her diet when she’s in her natural habitat. Since cats are carnivores, you need to feed them something that is primarily made of protein. An adult feline must eat food with at least 40% protein content. You can lower the percentage when your cat grows older. The lack of adequate protein content in cat food will most likely result in health issues like being underweight and lethargic.
Nutrition
I don’t feed my cat with grains, and it’s been that way for years now. Although grains are a rich source of energy, they’re also full of carbohydrates. You don’t want a significant percentage of carbs in your cat’s diet because it contributes to adding extra weight and the onset of diabetes.
Talk to a Vet
Although cats are my life, it does not mean that I’m an expert in determining the best food to give them. I only learned most of the things about feeding my cats when I visited the vet. I think you should do the same. If you’re unsure what to feed your cat, a visit to the vet gives you all the information you need to move forward.

Features & Benefits of Dr. Elsey’s Cleanprotein Formula
Dr. Elsey’s Cleanprotein Formula Dry Cat Food may be the product you’re looking for if you appreciate these benefits:
Grain-Free and Gluten-Free Formula
There was once a time when most cat food products contained nothing but carbohydrates and preservatives. I once fed my Devon Rex with a product I fancied because of the handful of unfamiliar ingredients that I thought were good for her. My cat gained a lot of weight after just a couple of months.
This product offers the best way to satisfy a cat’s natural diet. It does not contain grains and gluten, nor it has fillers and preservatives.
High Protein Content
This canned formula comes with protein as the main ingredient. It is to address the need of a cat to feed on something that imitates her prey in the natural environment. The product is available in chicken and salmon varieties, both of which are sourced in the US. Here is the nutrient breakdown of the chicken recipe:

Omega 3 Fatty Acids
Omega 3 fatty acids come with high anti-inflammatory properties. Dry cat food that contains it is perfect for cats who are prone to developing dry skin and hotspots. Feeding your cat with Dr. Elsey’s Cleanprotein Formula Dry Cat Food means she’ll have a shinier coat and less likelihood of shedding.
Non-GMO, No Preservatives
You don’t have to be an expert to know the risks of feeding your cat with a product that contains genetically modified organisms. Yes, some people will tell you that there’s nothing wrong with GMOs. But if given the option to choose between cat food made from natural ingredients and that of a product with preservatives and GMO, what will you choose?

What Other Cat Owner’s Say About Dr. Elsey’s Cat Food For Diabetic Cats
Do you feel like Dr. Elsey’s Clean Protein recipe is the best option out there for your cat? If you need more motivation, maybe these Dr Elseys clean protein reviews by other customers can help you decide:
Terri’s cat became obese because of the excess carbs in her food. But switching to this product made all the difference in terms of weight loss.
Cogent was apprehensive at first because this dry cat food is pricier than other options, but he’s convinced it’s the healthiest solution for his cat.
Martin attributes his cat’s dandruff and depression to the old food. With the switch to Dr. Elsey, dandruff is gone and the cat seems happier now!
How About Other Cat Food For Cats With Diabetes?
It’s always a sensible thing to do some comparison shopping right before making a purchase decision. In the case of dry cat food, you have several decent prospects aside from Dr. Elsey’s product:
Solid Gold Indigo Moon Dry Cat Food
This product is like Dr. Elsey’s in a way that promises a gluten-free and grain-free formula. The Indigo Moon from Solid Gold claims to contain at least 40% crude protein, while the rest of the product is made from superfoods, i.e., carrots, broccoli, lentils, and others. However, there’s no mention of it being non-GMO.
CRAVE Grain Free High Protein Dry Cat Food
This cat dry food is available in 2lb, 4lb, and 10lb packages. Like Dr. Elsey’s Cleanprotein formula, it’s a protein-rich meal that doesn’t contain grains and animal by-products. You’re better off buying the small pack to see if your cat won’t throw up when you make the switch. There are a few complaints from customers who said that their cats started throwing up when fed with it.
Purina Pro Plan Veterinary
The Pro Plan DM DM Dietetic Management Dry Food from Purina takes the edge when it comes to antioxidant contents since it has both Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids. You may find it suitable if you want to improve your cat’s coat and skin. The only thing that might put people off is its considerably higher price compared to the competition.
Our Final Thoughts
Buying cat food doesn’t have to be an overwhelming task. With a handful of decent options, you’re made to choose from one product to another with minimal differences in between. But even the slightest difference in quality and price could mean everything to you and your cat.
Dr. Elsey’s Cleanprotein Formula Dry Cat Food has one of the best arguments for ideal cat food, not only because of its protein-rich contents but also because it is made from all-natural ingredients. Whether you have an active cat or a diabetic feline, it’s a dry food formula worthy of your consideration. What pet peeves do you think Terry has? I personally hate loud chewing, I feel like my head will explode in anger when I hear and see people chewing with their mouths wide open, I have 0 tolerance to that. So, how would Terry react if his beloved or just some random person does something he can't tolerate, but to other is just a normal thing?
― Being touched; I think that Terry has a major thing for being touched, or rather, a major thing against it. This goes for any era of his life. He will do anything to avoid touched when he doesn’t wish to be touched by certain people, in certain situations all while being extremely touchy with others he wants physical contact from. He’ll bow instead of shaking someone’s hand. He’ll push someone’s hand off of himself aggressively. Get confrontational. Wear long sleeved clothes in humid, hot Californian weather, or even a jacket, to hide his skin underneath it. You name it. Whatever ensures he isn’t touched when he doesn’t want to be touched. It feels like an invasion of space to him, and an invasion of his privacy, and as such, an invasion of his control over himself and his bubble as a whole which is deeply ironic because Terry is pretty invasive of others and he seems to relish in it. Yeah, but he’s allowed to be and others just ain’t. One set of rules for him. Another for everyone else.
― Being called Twig; He never liked this one, even when he shrugged it off with a cheeky, friendly laugh back in the days, and even some odd twenty years later, thirty years later, or fifty years after Vietnam, the thought of this nickname still stings in general. It still haunts him on several levels. Of course, nobody alive probably remembers it anymore (which, yes, excellent), but him and John and the environment and the times from where the nickname stems from changed infinitely past the point of being obsolete, but internally, in Terry’s own mind at least, this is probably the biggest pet peeve he has and it affects him immensely despite the fact that it was something that happened in an extremely short range of time compared to the rest of his life. Being Twig influenced how he viewed himself in the aftermath of his military service and what he strategically and deliberately became later to counter his...well...past mental and physical Twiggishness. This is more then an embarrassing nickname. It is a trauma.
― Losing control; Doesn’t matter what it is or in what context it happens in; whether he didn’t command the attention of a room at a social gathering, whether the perceived mask or person he flaunted in front of others wasn’t received as perfectly as he wanted or anticipated, whether someone slipped out from under his thumb, whether someone merely said something Terry didn’t calculate on being said or whether the champagne wasn’t cool enough when served at his table --- the loss of control, ranging from any level of magnitude or pettiness is something that grates on Terry’s nerves to pathological degrees even when he doesn’t show it and it is something where he absolutely needs to be in charge and needs to be the one in command and if he isn’t one way or another, he starts losing it and spiraling in the most frightening way and he becomes dangerous.Often times even murderous. Sometimes, it is legitimately best to let him have this control lest he kills or hurts you horribly for it.
― Not being the best; Terry needs to be the best. The best friend you ever had. The most devoted, loyal individual in your life. The best Sensei who you’ll beg to be taught by. The best businessman and the richest man he can possibly be. The greatest entrepreneur and the greatest liar and the greatest pretender and the greatest everything in any setting. It doesn’t matter what it is. He needs to be the best. Stems back to ‘Nam where he in fact wasn’t the best. Terry wasn’t the best soldier and combatant he could be, he feels, and it did a number on his psyche and so did the burning shame that came along with it. In fact, he wasn’t viewed with favourable eyes by his commanding officer in the platoon at all and he was saw as a hindrance who will either get killed or endanger everyone. Which he did when Ponytail died. Ever since, it was either being the best or destroying those he perceived a threat to his supremacy. He wasn’t the best then, but he’ll sure as heck be the best now.
― People in general; Despite being a charmer, a social butterfly, deeply charismatic and in possession of an immensely commanding presence that gets people effortlessly affiliated with him, I don’t think Terry actually likes a great many people outside of what he can use them for and what he can get out of them before discarding them. It is safe to say Terry, and this counts Terry at any decade, liked only a few people genuinely, the rest were fodder in his eyes. Fuel. Fuel with residual benefits. They served a purpose, but he never liked them and he was often irritated by a great many people deep, deep, deep down below the surface and that included all their mannerisms too, whether they’re chewing, merely breathing or just existing in his space for the time being. Terry doesn’t like people even though he craves acknowledgment. That, or he was quaintly amused, the way a sociopath would be amused by a one legged chicken hopping around, struggling.
― Noises; Clicking and buzzing and grating and screeching. I imagine this also stems back to Vietnam and while Terry in any era kept with mainly under wraps through excessive amount of self control and later therapy, I still think he cannot stand noises in general. And not all noises, mind you, it i just that sometimes certain ones get him trippy at unexpected times. Certain ones make him blank out. The white noise of a radio. It takes him back to that fateful incident with the walkie talkie radio station in the jungle he was acting clumsy with? The clicking of the utensil kitchen blow torch? Teeny tiny miniscule things that get him overstimulated in an unpredictable manner and pattern that cannot be traced or cracked. It is the ultimate lack of control because he never knows when or how it can happen and he loathes it. In a noise tournament hall with a thousand people present, he might not be bothered at all. But, a mere fork accidentally falling to the ground might just get to him.
― People being fake; Irony, irony, irony --- holy heck, the irony --- but Terry doesn’t like people who are disingenuous. People who are artificial. Clinical. Antiseptic. People who hide things. People who aren’t raw. Themselves. People who bullshit and front too much, for lack of a better word. Basically, in the deepest of all hypocrisies and double standards, while he might keep such people about for whatever purpose as his own makeshift peanut gallery, Terry doesn’t like when people act the way he often tactically acts when he wants to achieve a specific goal or present a certain facade to the world. To him, it is like a thief meeting another thief eye to eye mid heist, with the intent of robbing the same house, metaphorically speaking, and it is grating and off putting and he reacts to it with the utmost chagrin. He’s internally irritated, annoyed, unimpressed, impassive and un-invested. Not to mention, he hones the craft far better he sees trying. Always has.

So this is the tea ☕️ how would Old man Terry react if his daughter came home one day and announced “Pa I went on a date and he’s here to meet you and Mom!” Beloved and Terry come out to meet their daughter’s new “creature”, Terry is ready to sadistically grill this little boy dating his little girl- but instead, to his surprise, the “creature” Terry’s young daughter is with is actually a 70 year old man! (This man is also rich- like Terry level rich)
Oh god, I laughed, this is too good. Scalding hot tea indeed.☕️
Reason why I've written any individual Terry's figurative children date and called them Creature, is because that's what it all boils down to in Terry's mind. Not just pretty words. That's how I imagine he views most people (and tools). The individuality of those said persons doesn't matter to him; just what they can provide for him and his loved ones. Namely, devotion, beauty, wealth, loyalty, protection, love, strength, connections, servitude, muscle --- you name it. The creatures are all more or less interchangeable in Terry's mind. One can have a new pair every week and it technically wouldn't matter all that much. He has heavily sociopathic tendencies and we all know that. So long as his people are happy, he is content. Look at how he swaps through students in any era, I mean? He practically picks out Mike Barnes from a magazine to push along his and John's agenda, like one orders a new pair of shoes from a catalogue. He abandons his whole social circle once they cease being convenient to his life choices. If his daughter was was dating, say, an old Billionaire, like himself, to Terry, that is still A Creature. An old, rich Creature and an old rich creature must still serve. This old man should be wrapped around his daughter's finger, for all Terry's concerned and if he is, Terry is once more, content. He will schmooze the guy, compare car collections and private islands, beach resorts, revenue, business conglomerates and private wine cellars, but at the end of the day, it boils down to his daughter's fulfillment, because his daughter is an extension of him. Young, old, man, woman, a Martian from outer fucking space, they're all potentially his daughter's catalyst to happiness and her pets in his opinion. Simple as.
