If someone could buy me a terriermon or a Patamon plushie I'd kill for them. I have no idea where to go about getting one but I want to hug my favorite weird dogs so bad. Or Gabumon, I love Gabumon adventures Gabumon is so,,,,, I love him so much. Or Gomamon. I love Gomamon no one understands me I'm insane he's so silly but sweet he's one of the best written partners of the original kids and also weird seal is a peak design choice. Weird water dog.

I've been staring at this card a while and wondering why it was an instant buy, despite having no real attachment to said character and it occurred to me that the TCG does a really crummy job on the alt arts of Tamers. The appeal of this card is not the effect or the character but how personal it is, Violet feels like an actual character!

It is probably why these Tamer alt sets did so well, no they aren't as personal as the one above but they are at least reflective of the character and their story. The TAMERS tamer alts to this day are still some of my faves!

And while it does feel like they have been putting a bit more effort in more recent sets, it still isn't very personal, even if it is a stark upgrade from this.

Most Tamer alts are fine, they are ok and ultimately that's it, it's all you can say about them.

So, in brief, what do I mean; basically, it isn't like the Tamers have personalities of their own or things associated with them!

I have examples! This post is already pretty long but I could likely think up ideas for all our main Tamers but for now, I'll keep it at one per show.

Captain Squad Petition: idk if you’re a Digimon fan but I am, and I’ve thought abt Haikyuu characters as digidestined for ages now. Anyway, Captain Squad goes on a wilderness trip and gets zapped into the digital world, hijinks and angst ensue.

I feel like Daichi would partner with Terriermon, Daichi’s no nonsense attitude clashing with Terriermon’s easygoing nature. Also regarding if or if not Crests are getting involved in this, Daichi as the Crest of RELIABILITY?! Chefs kiss, that fits him to an italicized T.

Dracmon was MADE for Kuroo they vibe very well. Oikawa I see with a plant based mon like Palmon (Crest of Knowledge go brrrr). If Kita’s involved, I can see Tentomon or Gomamon. The former more than the latter cause Tentomon literally has a Kansai accent in the sub. I have a few ideas for what Bokuto or Ushijima would have, probably your more contemporary creatures like Agumon, Patamon, Gabumon. I could also see an Agumon look alike like Dorumon.

Haven’t thought of much in terms of plot, could follow any of the anime or game plots, could be its own plot. I just love imagining the captains having to deal with superpowered creatures (that may give them superpowers, depending on the continuity) and having said creatures change as symbolism for their characters and how they may develop. Digimon’s cool like that, the Digimon change as a physical representation of the characters growing and developing (honestly that’s one of my favorite parts about that franchise)

i need you to know that this almost had be hyperventilating from excitement. Why? Why you ask? because I was like OBSESSED with Terriermon during my entire digimon hyperfixation a considerable amount of years back (am still actively on the watch for an accurate size plush of him that isnt $2749473829.00) and to see you here, my friend, my love, having bestowed him upon Daichi made me gleeful in a way I cannot comprehend. True delight.

Now i dont have an encyclopedic knowledge of digimon so if I were to write this it would absolutely have to follow the OG anime plot line (transported into a fucked up digital world) rather than the seasons that came later, where terriermon was birthed, where theres a shit ton of government experimentation and weird bullshit going on. OH MY GOD THIS MEANS DAICHI HAS THE GUN RABBIT. I FUCKING LOVE THAT TERRIERMON DIGIVOLVES INTO INCREASINGLY MILITARIZED RABBITS JDKSNFOSKAKEOO

Now I want to write this just so that Daichi and Terriermon can be together I need it.

God I would need to rewatch those entire first seasons to do it properly. Escape from fucked up digiHell. I was OBSESSED with Matt and TK's brother dynamic to an unhealthy degree. Honestly to-date some of my favourite siblings in anime. When they get separate and Matt has a breakdown of his cool guy persona? chefs kiss.

Digimon is vastly underrated, even by me TBH, but I remember YEARS ago I had a digimon fucking boardgame. It was like... my favourite boardgame but i could never convince my family to play it with me because it was complicated as fuck. With all the evil gears and all that.

God and unlike the pokemon au ive been playing with, there's no need to do any complicated worldbuilding bc as per the first seasons of the anime I can just snap them out if canon volleyball land and introduce all the fucked up monsters on the fly. Dont have to rewrite their whole histories.

Okay, if you had to have a random mutation based on a stuffed animal you had or once had, what mutation or mutations would you have?

Ex. 1. I had a bat with fire patterns on its wings, so potentially a fire bat mutation or a hell bat mutation; Ex. 2. I have a death heads moth squishable, so a deaths head moth mutant, but with zombie or alien colors, or a hivemind moth power, or something like that.

I have had a multitude of plushies in my life, I could probably drown in them.

I have my plague nurse plush that I cosplayed for Halloween (I will definitely wear it again) so I'd say I type of healing mutation, potentially through the lanturn or through plants.

I got a terriermon from digimon plush for my high school graduation, so the ability to travel in, out, and through the digital verse would be cool. It would do wonders for my gas bill.

And I have a narwal that looks like a scoop of ice cream, so I'd say the power based on that would be the ability to create or improve food and drinks at will and maybe imbue them with magical properties.

after seeing the amazing digital circus asks i got inspired by it too

how would be like a fem! tamer and her 4 partner digimon ((my team based on my oc who is a alt character on the game digimon masters online)) a male wizardmon and his half lil brother terriermon and half lil sister lopmon and their adoptive middle sister meicoomon;

for mysterious reasons got sent to the digital circus and they are currently stuck in there at the moment, and not only the tamer herself got turned into an avatar character (a pink toon plush bunny version of herself with a tutu skirt over her shorts and a fake daisy flower hairclip on her hair, white toon gloves, and a lacy collar with a tiny bell and a rose quartz hexagonal druze on her neck);

but also her digimon as well (her wiz he got turned into a scarecrow looking plush sheep version of himself but with some features that makes him a bit similar to orko from he-man and vivi from ff9 because his shawl and cape got replaced by a scarf with a silver skull shaped jiggling bell and oversized wool sweater lilke robes over his jumpsuit, white toon gloves, his hat got some star printed patchworks on some few parts of his hat, he is bare footed exposing the cute hooved feet he got, and the sheep/lamb jiggling bell collar with the same bell matching the scarf one under it;

her meicoomon became a plush cat version of herself but she is an inbetween toki-doki and beanie boos plushie mainecoon cat doll with a purple and lavender ribbon on her head, a lavender cat collar with a heart with skull and cross bones, white toon gloves, and a tiny jiggling bell and a frilly purple and violet tutu skirt;

and terriermon became a big eared terrier mix sanrio styled dog plushie version of himself with a blue and orange dog collar with a lil bell on it too bedsides the star shaped liscence and ID tag on it and a matching orange and blue helicopter baseball cap,

while his little twin sister lopmon in other hand, she is also a sanrio styled plushie but as lop bunny rabbit version of herself instead, she wears a ribbons tied as pigtails on her ears (one lemon yellow and other fuschia pink), white toon gloves, a hot pink and lemon yellow polka dot frilly ballet skirt and a red ribbon collar with a heart shaped tiny bell);

but for also mysterious reasons not only the tamer and her 4 digimon remembers who they truly are despite loosing 45% of their memories for awhile, but also they are fully immune to abstraction, can (eventually) cure an poor abstracted individual, and the digimon can digivolve and degenerate/de-evolve but their stages aand others are different while in this state and forms; as well like their tamer they also got new perks and skills in this form.

how they would react the gang as they investigate their quest on this other but wacky, fun, crazy, and yet different with lots of secrets including terrifiying ones, circus like digital world?

First of all those descriptions are kinda adorable

Second of all:

They'd be very confused at first. They thankfully have each other, and Ragatha, who explains to them what the circus is

It's rough trying to adjust to new, slightly different bodies. But they manage to help each other out, even though they can't remember everything

Interacting with Abstracted is kind of terrifying at first, not gonna lie. They'd like to avoid that happening to anyone as much as possible (they don't know that they can't be abstracted, at least not at first)

Digivolving was an interesting experience. A bit chaotic, as the Digimon now had to adjust to newer forms, on top of fighting enemies (if in battle) or Jax (because he's an asshole who messes with them)

They don't like Caine. They avoid him as much as possible, which is sadly kind of impossible

They all share a room with one another, sharing a bed because they want the comfort of being near one another. If someone is missing, they won't sleep until they're found the missing

Along with Pomni, they are looking for an exit. But, unlike Pomni, they don't have moments of insanity because they have each other
