These were the fossils that were displayed in the museum section of the visitors centre.
A few of these images are replica fossils of ones that were found here and others are real fossils that have been found and displayed.
I took a photo of a replica fossil being sold in the gift shop as although it is not real it still mimicked an Ammonite fossil which has an interesting spiral shape.

27/04/24 - Interesting Points on Streets
This weekend I went to Southampton, where despite the grey weather and plain architecture, the streets had many interesting elements to them. I took photographs to document for my project as primary research.
As soon as you exit the train station, there is a beautiful and colourful mural painted over the side of what appear to be abandoned office blocks. This automatically makes the city feel more welcoming, however the contrast is very stark. I feel it is obvious in the positioning and aim of the mural; to make Southampton look nicer than it is, like putting lipstick on a pig.
However, the creativity continues as you walk towards to high street and shopping centre, as there is poems and historical facts engraved into the wide curb, which is interesting to look at when you are walking, much like the Lemn Sissay poem.
On this walk, there was also a graffiti wall, a small green area and sculptures, which definitely added something cool and appealing to what otherwise would have been a boring walk from the station to the shopping centre. They also had traditional signposts, which aren’t around much anymore. I really liked these, and we actually used them a couple of times and so they served a purpose as well.
This creativity stopped as it got to the shopping area, however on the other side of the station, there was another mural with a QR code to find out more about the art. QR codes are very in trend at the moment, so I think this was a good way to share information without being overwhelming. It also gives you the opportunity to save the website on your phone and look at it whilst you are on the train.

26/04/24 - Times Square
I was speaking to my dad about my COVL project, explaining that I wanted to potentially look at billboards that change, keeping it interesting for people walking on the street and getting people to look up off their phones. I told him about my research for the D&AD project, The Man in the Clock at Schipol Airport, and he suggested to look at Times Square as that is an example of successful billboarding. He went to New York a few years ago, and sent me some photos he took of Times Square. I want to look more into these as a potential outcome for this project.

Week 1 & 2.
The first week we did not have the meeting with people from SITC but we were introduced to the project’s brief. So our first approach consisted on researching about how satellites work and it different applications nowadays. It was interesting to see how many ways satellites are used for beyond the known purposes, and how some of those uses impact our daily lives. We did this individually as we thought it was important for all of us to educate ourselves about the topic we were going to work on.
When we finally had the first meeting with people from SITC they did not only helps us understand the brief but they also helped us deepen our knowledge about satellites. Some of the features I found interesting were:
Ubiquitous connectivity
Geospatial intelligence: helps to monitor planetary changes.
Spot height, types of materials on the surface by image processing.
On another hand, they made us see that even though the capabilities of satellites are big, they felt they could be used more. This is why they wanted us to explore new ways to encourage people to use them by focusing the a micro level of experiences.
By meeting with my group we decided to give ourselves some time to explore ideas by our own to later put them all in common. What I was specially interested on was the way satellites could be used today to monitor the amount of people on one specific space. The reason of my interest in this is due the current pandemic emergency worldwide. When doing research about this I found the following information:
Satellites have been used for determining the population of one area.
Satellites can observe human presence in one space.

Satellite images of human presence on Earth (EU, 2016).
By the second week we decided to brainstorm some ideas of different direction that our project could follow based on our research. Since we couldn’t do this physically we put all of our ideas into a board on Miro, an online tool that enables you to create diagrams.
Screenshots of the brainstorming board.

English summer . . . Missing the one part of the year when British weather is on point. Ugh. Ideally, I would have been wrapping up exams (in-person, in an ideal world, I guess?) and getting ready to spend some time chilling with my friends after a taxing exam season, and enjoying the few hours of British summer that one gets every year (not an overstatement). Anyway, let’s make the most of what we have now, shall we? Take care of yourselves, and have a lovely weekend ahead ❤️ - #UK #summer #wow #missing #term3 #examseason #thinkingoutloud #writing #blogger #blog #writersofinstagram #writer #leamingtonspa #leamington #royalleamingtonspa #university #unilife #warwick #universityofwarwick #reflection #pictures #pictureperfect #think https://www.instagram.com/p/CBV6K7ZFiaq/?igshid=1pmgv32wvyzd3

Service Term 1 Year 13
As I have explained before, the Green Business theme has been launched again but I am now in Year 13. I’ve learned the mistakes I had from our last Green Business and since I am now officially the eco-rep to which I am happy to be one, it was time to get the idea going.
Our Green Business idea was called the Beeswax Food Wraps. (Pictures will be provided) Beeswax Food Wraps are basically the replacement for plastic wraps and the food wraps we make can be used many times, can easily be cleaned and is not much of a hassle to use. A teacher came up to the other eco-captain and after informing me about it, I agreed with the idea. Honestly, I’ve never heard of this before and I’ve never seen one on how it is made and how it looks like. I was very intrigued on doing this. So with the help of my eco-team, the idea was now created. After getting the materials needed, we were at the phase of cutting the 100% cotton fabric into different sizes. Some fabrics were difficult to deal with as it was either the fabric was too huge to be cut and will need time to cut it into different pieces or the fabric’s width or length is not long enough to reach the targeted measurement.

We had to use our creativity on how to make sure the fabric would still be cut into approximately the same size and not be wasted when we’re done with everything. The cutting phase took us about three to four sessions of our lunchtime sessions as our numbers were small. Even though I was a bit discouraged by the numbers, we were still able to finish cutting the beeswax on time for it to go to the next phase.
The next phase was the waxing phase. All we have to do is set up a few stations, coat the cut fabric with beeswax, iron the fabric after being covered and let it dry under the air-conditioning. Seems easy but as life goes, it was not easy. Only two irons were available and we did not have any time to do this except for a Friday afternoon. Luckily, we all calmed down and decided to think about how to make sure we managed to coat all the fabric. I gave the idea of separating everyone with different tasks-coating, ironing and drying. And I also have to advise to everyone to make sure that they all wore lab coats on top of their uniform.
I had to leave early for that session but I gave my good luck to them and be as encouraging as I can and hope for the best. And by tomorrow, every fabric was coated and we were all set to sell our product during Football Funday.
That was the most stressful phase I have ever gone through. I came in early to set up the stall and unexpectedly, so many people came to our stall and started buying our products when it was around the afternoon. Parents, teachers and students came, bought one or a few wraps and even told their friends and families about the beeswax. People kept on coming buying our beeswax. I felt very nervous as I had to talk to parents and sometimes, I mess up my words or even stutter. Plus, if I have something going on my mind, I make a mistake and I had to quickly fix the mistake to provide good customer service. Also, not to forget the mention of back pains and sore feet from standing and bending too much.
Despite all of that, I managed to preserve in my usual self and started selling the beeswax with casual conversation and demonstration of how to use the food wrap and making sure we counted the right change for our customers. And before I knew it, our product was sold out and we announced it with drinks, food and a toast for our success.
