If you poked around long enough, you’ll see that I got experience with tumblr and RP as a whole. I’ve been on few years of a break. If you dug even deeper (Which isn’t all that deep at all, at the moment), you’ll see the post of mine on not RP’ing as much.

I made this sideblog with keeping my RPC info, in case I forget about it. Another reason it’s made, was because I might go back to tumblr for FNaF related stuff. Twitter keeps shooting itself in foot, and its CONSTANT on month by month basis. And I adore Scott’s works, FNaF had swallowed me whole with its wide range of genres.

Back to RP topic. I have read the books, and played the games. I’m also into 40s-80s era, done some research into that. I follow Scott’s FNaF, not the community’s. I was into FNaF when it was several months old, back when Foxy the Pirate was a surprise to those that played the game. FNaF Lore was never hard to grasp. Convoluted sure, but we have tools like Umodel for Security Breach for example. 

If I do get back into RP scene, you’ll be getting something that’s canon. I handled plenty characters like Funtime Freddy before. Muggy from Fallout: New Vegas’ DLC Old World Blues. Tenjin from the manga; Saiyuki Reload Blast. Dr. Theo from GANGSTA.

Fandom: saiyuki?

blorbo (favorite character, character I think about the most): This.... is probably Sanzo. Like Sanzo is my favorite of the ikkou, and I enjoy reading fic from his POV the most. I have spent a lot of time thinking about Sanzo. However, a close second would be Yaone?

scrunkly (my “baby”, character that gives me cuteness aggression, character that is So Shaped): I don't think this is an emotion that I experience in relation to Saiyuki. But any time we see baby versions of most of the main characters I do experience the "OH MY GOD I CAN'T PROTECT THEM" emotion which is probably very similar. Especially baby Sanzo. Why did 99.9% of the adults around baby Sanzo have to be so fucking creepy? Couldn't he have just have like one adult besides Koumyou who was normal about him?

scrimblo bimblo (underrated/underappreciated fave): oh I guess this one is Yaone actually!!! I just think she's neat. It's very cute when she and Hakkai do their polite dance of trying to murder each other. I know people think that Yaone is boring or whatever and like... there to be scantily clad because this is a 90s anime but I love her. That's my girl.

glup shitto (obscure fave, character that can appear in the background for 0.2 seconds and I won’t shut up about it for a week): Is... is Sharak an obscure fave? I feel like with Saiyuki there's been so little Saiyuki for so many years (NOT Minekura's fault, I hope she's doing okay these days) that any character showing up is like... SO much. And I don't count the Kou-tachi as obscure but they are the most likely to show up in the background for .2 seconds. If Sharak showed up in the background though now that her arc is over I wouldn't shut up for a week though.

poor little meow meow (“problematic”/unpopular/controversial/otherwise pathetic fave): I mean this is Saiyuki, so everyone in this jeep-that-is-also-a-dragon would be a Problematic Fave in another fandom, but let's go with: Tenjin. You know like. The creepy guy who digs up corpses to feed to the birds. Look at him. He's never done anything wrong in his life. Those people were dead! They weren't using their bodies and the birds have to eat! If he eats meat his stomach gets upset. :(

horse plinko (character I would torment for fun, for whatever reason): I enjoy Hakkai Angst Hours!! I love when Hakkai has to Confront His Past. I love when Hakkai has hangups about stuff in fic and deals with it in the Least Productive Way Possible. I do think that Chin Yisou is one of the best arcs.

eeby deeby (character I would send to superhell): Li Touten? Is that safe to say? I don't actually even have a lot of emotions about Nataku, but I do want Li Touten DEAD. Also Gojyo's mom.

◎ Seki Toshihiko-san, voice of Genjo Sanzo ① They were in a big pinch heading into the final episode!  The Sanzo Ikkou never retreat, even face to face with Nataku’s overwhelming abilities.  As expected, I feel like everyone’s zeal for acting has gone up.  The final episode definitely has a unique feel to it. ② Episode 8 “Kekkai” [Barrier].  Sanzo and Kougaiji’s head-on confrontation.  It would be easy with all four of the Ikkou, but could Sanzo stop Kougaiji on his own!?  That was exciting.  The line that made a lasting impression on me was “You plan on killing me while Goku and the others aren’t here, and getting your hands on two scriptures.  It’s a huge chance to kill two birds with one stone.  You sure are lucky, aren’t you Prince.” ③ I think you’ll see some scenes in the second half that weren’t in the original manga, put there in order to give an end to the story for the TV anime.  And we’re the same as you!  We’re wondering about the remaining mysteries as well.  I really hope you’ll watch over their journey until the very end.  Please support them!

◎ Hoshi Souichirou-san, voice of Son Goku ① I was seriously like “It’s already over!?”  It was the first TV anime adaptation in a while, so it was super sad when it ended.  But it was a very fulfilling and satisfying recording session.  I look forward to the day we get to do the continuation of this. ② Saiyuki is definitely a treasure trove of famous scenes and lines.  There’s everything from casual lines to cool one-liners so I can’t choose, but, for example, Goku’s answer to Tenjin in episode 3... or the scene where Kanzeon Bosatsu scolds Goku at the end of the Gaiden arc...  There’s lots of parts I like. ③ What’s going to happen to the “Saiyuki” journey...?  What path will the Sanzo Ikkou choose...?  Please look forward to the last of this TV series.  And look out for Saiyuki from now on too!

◎ Hirata Hiroaki-san, voice of Sha Gojyo ① It was over in a flash.  Even though there were 12 episodes in all, it felt far shorter than that.  It felt like we ran through it in an instant, so I’d have liked to do more. ② Sharak Sanzo entered in the second half, so it was really heart-pounding and fun.  As expected, out of all the series, the story of the Gaiden arc left a huge impression. ③ As for a highlight, I’d like it if the people who watch could feel it for themselves.  Since the second half of recording coincided with the start of the TV anime’s airing, we were able to record while taking into consideration the fans’ response; it felt like we were making it with all the fans.  Please watch to the very end.

◎ Ishida Akira-san, voice of Cho Hakkai ① It felt like the Sharak Sanzo arc finished in an instant.  Amid all of that we got to see important movements by the Kougaiji side and Heaven side, so I think there was important content. ② That would be the shocking remark caused by Taruchie’s foresight.  Overturning fate with brute force may be the Sanzo Ikkou’s way, but it’s uncertain how things will develop in the future. ③ I suppose the confrontation with Nataku is the highlight.  The Sanzo Ikkou will continue West no matter what happens, so I pray for another opportunity for us to see them in an anime.

Thoughts on Saiyuki Reload Blast: Sky Burial

I’ve been waiting for this episode. And I loved it. It’s pretty much exactly like the manga. We had business man Hakkai, sleepy grumpy Sanzo, and my boy Goku showing his more mature side.

The music was spot on too, the part where Tenjin has drugged Goku was tense and gave a feeling of fear and desperation. The art, as usual, was very pleasing to the eye.

Definitely my favorite episode so far. And next episode we have Gaiden!

Reload Blast Ep 3 Reactionanalysis

Sorry this took so long, but this episode is complex and gives me feels, and I still don’t think I did it justice! Long post (these keep getting longer!) and spoilers!

Summary: The Ikkou is climbing up a sheer cliff when they’re beset by youkai assassins waiting at the top. They defeat them anyway, and are surprised that vultures immediately descend to eat the corpses, which scares off the surviving attackers. They meet Tenjin, the caretaker of the birds, who is a youkai unaffected by the minus wave. He explains that until recently the area practiced sky burial, hence the vulture’s eagerness, but they only eat dead flesh. He’s living alone and invites them in for tea, but they politely excuse themselves and move on to the nearby village. The townspeople are rather devout, so Hakkai goes into Business!Mode to arrange lodgings in exchange for Sanzo acting Priestly. They also learn people have been disappearing and the villagers suspect Tenjin is responsible, and end up agreeing to speak to him. Tenjin insists he’s innocent and doesn’t want to leave even if he’s under suspicion. He remains in order to preserve the cultural heritage and ritual practices for a day when peace returns. He’s also looking after an injured vulture he calls Tenba. Sanzo notes the similarity of names, and Tenjin flashes back to a particular sky burial ceremony for a relative… In the present, the healthy vultures fly away, prompting a discussion of where souls go after death. Goku states staying alive is more important than being concerned about death, but feels strange as he says it. Sanzo and Hakkai decide Tenjin can be left alone, and as they leave Gojyo finds a lost mitten on the ground.

Goku lies awake at night wondering about the feeling he had. Outside, a villager feeding her sheep is attacked by youkai, but the Ikkou catches them in the act, further ingratiating themselves with the townspeople. Tenjin’s name is cleared but the townsfolk are still nervous that he lives so close…Sanzo is too tired to deal with it. That morning, Goku leaves early to speak with Tenjin some more, and he finds a shed full of personal belongings. When Goku asks if they belong to Tenjin’s family, Tenjin gets evasive. Back in town the mitten Gojyo found is causing a stir. It belonged to a deceased child, and it was buried with them…Sanzo puts the pieces together and hurries to the cemetery with Hakkai, sending Gojyo after Goku, just in case. At the cemetery, they discover all of the bodies have been dug up. Meanwhile, Tenjin has drugged Goku’s tea which paralyzes him. Tenjin explains his wife died in childbirth and their son Tenba died of a heart condition. After watching his son’s sky burial (even though it was taboo for family to witness), he became determined to continue the tradition, even going as far as exhuming bodies for the vultures to eat. Just as he’s about to kill Goku to keep the secret, Gojyo arrives, cutting off Tenjin’s knife-wielding hand. Gojyo says Tenjin’s only using ceremony as an excuse and replacing his son with the vulture. From the floor, Goku says he thought about what Tenjin said, and he thinks if he lost his important people, they would still be with him always, in his heart. As he says it, he sees a glimpse of Konzen, Tenpou and Kenren…is Goku beginning to remember them?! The vulture Tenba spreads his wings, ready to fly away at last, to Tenjin’s protests. As Gojyo carries Goku back to the jeep, Goku apologizes for being tricked, and Gojyo tells him not to worry so much about death and focus on living. It devolves into their usual arguing, but Goku still wanted to talk about his feelings…Back on the hill, Tenjin dragged himself out to meet the vultures, offering his own body to continue the cycle, saying it won’t be long…

Wow, what an episode! I’m surprised they managed to fit so much plot in, and still keep a balance of light comedic moments before the emotionally heavy 2nd half. Especially towards the end, the scene switches and shifting character focus is almost identical to the manga, and the music and voices really add to the atmosphere. I think it was a fair adaptation, but it maybe missed some nuances that were implied in the manga. I’ll have a follow-up post on Tenjin’s tragedy later, because I want to focus on Goku here.

Something I thought about when I first read in the manga: this might be the first time ANYONE seriously discussed the concept of an afterlife with Goku. He’s seen death, and understands grief, but he’s determined to live in the moment and keep moving forward. The closest he’s come in manga canon is the conversation was in Reload volume 6, but that was about if he would want to be brought back, and Goku says he thinks he would be ok, he just has to make sure not to die... and then nearly gets killed. This time, he has more time to think, and decides that, of course, it’s important to focus on staying alive, but he seems to be on the cusp of a revelation… and that’s what I’m waiting to see! So much of Saiyuki seems to be leading up to this reveal, and I wonder how finding the truth about his past and his friends would affect Goku. Would it break his heart (and limiter?) or would he easily accept it, like he seems to roll with every other aspect of life? Would Goku knowing and remembering make Seiten Taisei easier to handle or more out of control? We’re still waiting to find out in the manga, but I love the anticipation!

2. Because it’s you my thoughts went straight to Saiyuki so I’ll answer with that in mind~! Hmmm…popular OTP that I BrOTP? The words OTP/BrOTP made me think of Gojyo and Hakkai but they’re my number one in both sections so it can’t be helped! But…Goku and Genjo, I guess? I don’t know how popular it is but I’ve seen a lot of doujin of those two and I can’t bring myself to ship them at all, hahaha.

4. I actually didn’t remember if I had a NOTP until I read Jojo’s answer, there, I said it. Really I’m with her on the ‘can’t bring myself to ship anything familial’ thing. Again, I’ve only really seen doujin of them so I guess it’s sort of popular? Well, not Koumyou/Gen, though, hahaha….I think?

20. The purest ship in the fandom? Gojyo and Hakkai. So pure, so wonderful, utterly wholesome. It fills my heart with joy and will bring humanity together, I’m sure. ;v;

22. Popular character I hate…? Hahahaha, man this is hard because I tend to push hated characters faaaar back into my mind but…honestly! The only Saiyuki character I can truly hate is ZOURYOU. HOW DARE HE TRY TO DROWN MY SON, GENKAI? But I highly doubt he’s popular so…no one. I used to really dislike Homura but Jojo and I cracked so many jokes about him that he just makes me laugh now.

23. Unpopular character I love…you know I wonder how unpopular the Ibun boys are? I want to pick one of them but they’re all really lovable…! Maybe I’ll try picking someone unpopular among them [[though it’s hard to imagine someone being unpopular with them, tbh]]? I’ll go with Puku then! He’s really adorable, hahaha. And honestly I was surprised to find out he had silver hair! Same as Hazel, and they’re both Westerners…is silver hair common for Westerners in Saiyuki? Curious!26. Gojyo!! I have an overwhelming bias and love for the antenna man, I honestly think you could pair him up with anyone and it’d still be amazing~!

27. …least shippable…honestly, probably Genkai. I’m sorry, Genkai! I keep seeing you as a baby despite you being a grown man! I’d also add Nataku and possibly Goku to that list but Goku had that one kiss so I guess he’s sort of shippable, but yeah, I keep seeing them as children so I can’t really ship them. x’D

....I’m a little confused. I admit I haven’t been paying much attention, but how come the character of the week, Tenjin, is still sane and not out to kill humans? I thought that all demons were affected, unless they were part human somehow or had a limiter? 

I mean, he still turned out to be nuts, but it’s rooted in his personal issues, not in the usual “kill humans” madness. In fact, I don’t think he’s confirmed to have killed any humans at all.

@baronvonriktenstein TENJIN APPRECIATION CLUB HIGH FIVE!!!!!! I forgot too, I was like "I want to put the sad bird man who definitely did bad things in this spot" but it took me like ten minutes to remember his name again because I literally could not find him in lists of Saiyuki characters and had to go look up the chapter he was in lol. Tenjin deserved better ;_;

And Chin Yisou is definitely in my top 3 antagonists. early Saiyuki with the monsters from all of their pasts was just sooooo good
