Man! Thinking about the potential Tachibana v. Tezuka match in the District Tournament finals if Fudomine v. Seigaku had got to S1 — I think that Tachibana would have probably been the victor?
By the time we get to Ep. 35, Tachibana has already been hyped up a lot (and, honestly, this rewatch has highlighted that Konomi-sensei's storytelling can be so stunning: the amount of foreshadowing where Tachibana is concerned is amazing). Inui looks at Tachibana at the end of Districts and says that he'll have to look into him since the name is familiar. A few episodes later, Sengoku starts when he hears the name 'Tachibana'. Then, Akazawa has a ! moment when he sees Tachibana's face and recalls that he played at last year's Nationals. Finally, Atobe is shocked when he sees Tachibana, calling him "one of the two strongest players in Kyushuu".
(And Tachibana destroys poor Shishido in elss than 15 minutes... how painful, lol)
Someone then produces a picture of blond!Tachibana from nowhere (either Inui or Inoue) and says that he didn't recognise him since his hair was different. Wow.
I feel like Tachibana'd strength gets overshadowed a lot in favour of some of the other captains (Tezuka, Yukimura, Atobe and Shiraishi) but it's definitely worth remembering that he is a Tough Cookie who had the respect of many esteemed players.
#the prince of tennis#tenipuri anime#tachibana kippei#atobe has a definite !!! moment when he sees tachibana in the manga#but this is a lot less pronounced in the anime lol#anime n manga

All the high schoolers sure look pretty tough but it would be funny if some of them actually died inside while standing in the haunted house like Yagyuu 💀
I’ve said it before and I will say it again: Oni does not fool me. He looks tough, and nothing could scare him…but in the inside, he’s praying to god and wishing he could be hugging Kaede while crying.
That is one of the headcanon that I will fight for because I’m sure it is canon
#and we’ve learned from this manga that the scariest guys are the ones that get scared the easiest lol#prince of tennis#tennis no oujisama#high schoolers#u17 camp#oni jujirou#incorrect quotes#incorrect anime quotes#incorrect tenipuri#anon

Lesser known tenifacts #4
Some schools are really serious about tennis. Enjoy these rather serious tenifacts, or Sanada will slap you!
Rikkai's tennis club meets every day from monday to saturday, and on every second sunday (only the 1st and 3rd sunday of the month are off).
On every 1st and 3rd saturday, they practice with the Rikkai high school tennis club. Every 4th saturday, with the university tennis club.
Sundays are for interschool practice matches. The last team they played against was Kakinoki JHS - because Akaya was late to the match, they replaced him with Urayama Shiita with a seaweed wig.
Today's tenifacts are from page 71 of the fanbook + some addition from volume 8 of the tenipuri manga kanzenban.

Man... because I'm in a tennis-y mood (what with the Wimbledon Men's Final today and rediscovering my old fics and whatnot), I just rewatched the first episode of The Prince of Tennis and!! My heart!!
Ryoma and his dorky little attitude and his match vs. Sasabe and Sasabe ATTACKING HIM and the whole thing with Sasabe cheating when he was calling his own shots... then the reveal that Ryoma is ACTUALLY left-handed! Guh! Ryuzaki wasn't kidding when she said, "Things are about to get interesting," at the end of the ep!
Also, the anime reveals that Nanjirou sent Ryuzaki a letter from a (very questionable) address in New York so — it would appear that the Echizen family moved from Los Angeles at some point (possibly after Nanjirou's retirement?).
And then... 'You Got Game'. Wow. WOW MY FEELINGS.
#the prince of tennis#echizen ryoma#it's that feeling of revisiting the start of something that you know deeply affected your life#i made so many friends through tenipuri and learnt a lot through tenipuri#it's very#いつでも!!!!#anime n manga

I need to stop putting haikyuu in my mouth since I still know nothing about it but I just wanted to justify why I haven’t picked it up other than being scared of popularity like the stupid hipster I am. but in the late 2000s, very early 2010s it really felt like sports anime was so prevalent and arguably at its peak. knb eyeshield tenipuri and that was like a second wave of sports animanga too. my biggest defense here that even when I hadn’t even really watched it, free the anime was my baseline of that third or so wave of sports animanga that I just kinda fell off on bc I’d moved to other things, and that kinda included haikyuu because I’d caught up to all the releases chapters by 2012ish and truly what else was there for me. There wasn’t an anime yet…. So by the time the anime released and the manga got hotter I really was off of my sports animanga phase AND THIS is why I can’t watch new sports animanga without invoking the name of prince of tennis like just like the “Guy who’s only watched boss baby movie” post

hello this may be a stupid question but i looked it up and im still not sure : are tenipuri and prince of tennis tha saem thing ? :O ive wanted to get into prince of tennis for a while and im not sure where to start , or if tenipuri is liek a prequel or ova or something ^^;;
hi!! dw about it it's not a stupid question at all!! tenipuri is basically the abreviated way of saying prince of tennis so yeah they're the same!! as for how to watch it you can just follow the main seasons by the release date (the first one being a 178 episode anime from 2001, then you have the 13 ep national arc > 6 ep national arc semifinal > 7 ep national arc final) because that's the chronological order the story progresses. you may also find a bunch of ovas and special content but since they're pretty much all silly stories about the characters being friends and stuff i think it's better to go through the main story first so you can get to know all the charas and their dynamics so you can enjoy it to the fullest ^^
oh, and besides the anime/manga itself there's also a chinese live action adaptation that's insanely good and loyal to the original story. it's very fun and happy so i also highly rec it in case you like the characters and the plot (although you can also watch independently if you want because the animanga is not needed to understand it) :]
#i hope i was able to help!! tysm for sending this ask i'm really glad to hear you're interested in tenipuri bc it's very dear to me <3#ask
