Hardy Boys and the Public Domain Round 2: The Fuckening

I'm too lazy to find the original post, but remember that the first three Hardy Boys' books entering the public domain still have strings attached. They aren't completely free to use. At least not every version beyond the unsurprisingly racist, sexist, and completely useless 15/16-year-olds that existed in those three books.

Have I ever mentioned the original name of the "Meddling Kids are Useless" trope? I can't remember. But look it up if you wanna get the full picture.

Not to mention that they've still got copyright/trademark attached to their characters. So as I've said, strings attached. Let's say, theoretically, any of you try to use them; you're gonna have to make an effort to stick to what only exists in the original first three books to probably not get in trouble.

That's the typical shit, but I should vaguely mention that the Hardy Boys' relationship with the Syndicates legal team is fucked beyond all comprehension (Thank you, Harriet, for that one /sar). Okay, well maybe not *all comprehension* but like...it's pretty fucked up. And that fucking up actually often makes things pretty difficult for a number of people.

So yeah idk Happy Public Domain Day, but also don't go into this shit blindly cause it's not something worth going blind into

I can't believe how Grace was treated. It wouldn't be that bad (even if it would still be terrible) if it wasn't for the way other characters who did wrong are treated in comparison.

Alert: Last Hours Spoilers

(the following list is not to blame those characters but what happens to Grace)

James: lies to his loving family and friends about things that can have consequences for them

-> there is no problem

Lucie: does the same, plus runs away to raise someone from the dead

-> everyone understands, it isn't necromancy anyway

Matthew: kills his soon-to-be baby sister and nearly kills his mother because he'd rather trust rumors and strangers than his own loving family then hides it for years to everyone

-> forgiven by everyone, including his parents, in a couple of sentences

Alastair: former school bully, used to mock Jamie and Matthew (and their families)

-> needs the three books (and to be someone's boyfriend and someone's else brother) to be forgiven

Tatiana: is saying (shouting really) she's going to make the Herondales, Lightwoods, Fairchilds pay for years

-> several people keep reaching out to her, until she kidnaps little Lightwood and they get how serious her threats are, the group spare two thoughts about her when she's a threat that can't be ignored and kill her reluctantly

Meanwhile, Grace:

abused (and brainwashed) for years, with several people noticing from afar something wrong about Tatiana Blackthorn (she wasn't very subtle about it, though) but refusing to touch the situation with a tenfoot pole

-realizes her wrongs, gives herself up to the Silent Brother, confesses everything she and her "mother" did, atones for what she did

-> her brother (her only family) rejects her, they all comment about her being a monster

-warns the Brotherhood about Tatiana's dangerosity and begs them to take her away from Tatiana (trusts them to)

-> she isn't believed, Tatiana gets free and hurts her (and carries on with her plans)

-runs to help the group instead of running away

-> sees Christopher, the only person who gave her kindness freely, die right before her eyes

-finds the solution to create Fire Message (allowing them to win) and fights alongside them

-> her brother forces himself to forgive her, is tolerated because they don't want to be like Tatiana (written in black and white)

The more time goes on with q!BBH's link with the Federation not being explained, the more I am convinced there is gonna be a Huge plot twist surrounding it like...

Why is it so hidden, why haven't we had any major event surrounding q!BBH yet ?? Why are the FEDs not touching him with a tenfoot poll, not even to mess with him ????? We know for a fact that he is linked with the FEDs in some capacity and yet we have gotten nothing ?????????

There's something so bizarre about not having touched the One Piece fandom with a tenfoot pole in almost 10 years, so going into any character tags for content is just. It's bizarre.

Like I go into the Crocodile tags to find posts about the Trans Croco theory (because that's what my brain has decided to get obsessed with right now)

And I end up coming across lots of Old Man Yaoi feat. Buggy

And like. Maybe it is just that it's been like almost a decade since I interacted with the fandom, and the fact that I wasn't looking for content of these specific characters ever before, so maybe this is perfectly normal and nothing new
