For you, for humanity, let’s connect!/ Para ti, y para la humanidad, conectémonos!
When I wrote that by not connecting, we are preventing the improvement of humanity, it was not an exaggeration. I must admit that I have not been a good example of connection with my social circles, but I am changing for myself and for everyone. :)
After a great religious and social disappointment, I embarked on the search for a truth that gave me new hope and made me feel that there was an order in the world. Little by little everything I learned led me to a conclusion that gave me courage to live in this chaotic and absurd world, hopes that there is a beautiful future, and confidence in myself to face any situation that life puts in front of me. my own. The most valuable gift of this search was that it made me understand myself and the human being more deeply.
In this post, I would like to share some of the information that changed my life and that proves the importance of connecting correctly. I will share links in English and Spanish at the bottom of the page. Wake up your curiosity that there is a lot of information out there! Never forget friends, Information is Power.
A professor at the University of Houston, suggests that how important is the connection for the human being:
“A deep sense of love and belonging is an irresistible need of all people. We are biologically, cognitively, physically, and spiritually wired to love, be loved and belong. When those needs are not satisfied, we don't work as we should. We break We fall apart. We fall asleep. We hurt. We hurt others. We get sick."
In college I learned that the essential thing for the healing of mental illnesses (addictions, depression, anxiety, bipolarity, post-traumatic stress, etc.) is love and connection. Understanding that the support of loved ones and their presence in the healing process is necessary for the total recovery of the individual, made me understand how important it is to have a social circle or family that makes you feel loved and supported unconditionally.
It is scientifically proven that the human being is a social creature, and that the brain has a “pain” when it is rejected or goes through another social “pain”. A neuro-scientist explained in an article that the fact that humans are more socially connected than other animals suggests that becoming more socially connected is essential to our survival.
In an experiment with a baby and his mother, they realized that the brain waves synchronized with those of their baby. The experiment showed that the electromagnetic waves generated by the heart have the ability to affect people around us. Through scientific experiments it is known that the heart generates an electromagnetic field 5000 times more powerful than the brain, and that it has a conscious memory that allows it to have a great influence on cognitive functions.
In addition to this experiment, many have been done to prove how much the electromagnetic fields generated by a person affect us, either positively or negatively. The researchers found that the conscious direction of an intention with positive emotions (such as prayer), which create coherence (balance, with the individual, has an effect on the psychological and physiological state of the other. In one experiment, they put two people to meditate for ten minutes, and then, in a separate room, one was stimulated by eyelids with light, they noticed that the brain wave that appeared due to the stimulation of light also appeared in the other individual ...!
Did they stay with their mouths open? What do you think of what I shared with you?
I would like to recommend the following documentary: I Am. It was directed by Tom Shadyac, who was behind films such as Ace Ventura, Liar Liar and many more. See it! I await your comments. <3
Finally, I would like to invite you to watch Tomorrowland, a movie that came out in 2015. It has an interesting premise and I would like to know what you think of it and how real it is.
Lots of light n’ love for all!
Lets start the #BlahblahblahWithHonesty
-------------
Quisiera recomendarles el siguiente documental: I Am.

Trigger Warning: In the post, there is talk about self harm, suicide, and rape. Please use precaution before continuing.
Right now, it seems like I can’t go ten minutes without seeing something about 13 Reasons Why. Even boys in my journalism class were raving about it. However, I felt quite uneasy about the show from the beginning. The day after it was released, I saw a post on Twitter with all the triggers for each episode.
*These Pictures Are Not My Own I Just Had Them Saved to My Laptop, and I Can’t Find The Original Tweet*.
I read 13 Reasons Why when I was in eighth grade. I must admit that I understand a good amount of the book. Looking back, though, I’m starting to realize how much I either lost from my memory over time or what went right over my head. Regardless, I was still really impacted by the novel. For this reason, I was quite excited about the adaption to a Netflix series.
Now that you know my history with the book, I’d like to take a minute to examine some information about suicide and entertainment.
“Prominent placement and undue repetition of stories about suicide are more likely to lead to imitative behaviors than more subtle presentations.”
“Detailed discussion of the method used in a given completed or attempted suicide should be avoided, because a step-by-step description may prompt vulnerable people to copy the act. For example, in reporting an overdose, it would be unwise to detail the nature, quantity, or combination of drugs taken, or how they were procured.”
Yes, 13 Reasons Why is an important story. Suicide is a topic that needs to be talked about; we need to be able to have discussions about it and give people the help they need. Suicide is one of the top five causes of death for teens between the ages of 15-19. It needs to be discussed.
However, having a T.V. show where graphic scenes are showed on screen can be incredibly harmful. They can trigger people who have had past experiences with self-harm and suicide. They can encourage people who struggle with it to continue with their harmful habits.
“BUT,” they say. “IT’S MADE SO MANY PEOPLE AWARE OF THEIR ACTIONS AND ALERTED PEOPLE TO SUICIDE AWARENESS!!!”
Not to play devil’s advocate, but it is true that shows that have themes of suicide and mental health can cause people to become more aware of it in their daily lives. However, I’ve noticed that this awareness is short-lived. It will last for a little bit, but it won’t has a lasting impact like we wish it would. Eventually, people will forget. New forms of entertainment will be the latest trend, and 13 Reasons Why will be left in the dust along with its intended message.
One argument in favor of the graphic nature of the show is this: in the beginning of the very graphic episodes, there are disclaimers. Here’s the thing: whether or not you put disclaimers at the beginning of the episodes doesn’t really make up for the fact that you are unknowingly helping people do the very thing you’re trying to raise awareness for. Not to mention, numerous psychologists repeat that showing a step-by-step process to self harm or suicide will do more harm than good.
A few days ago, my best friend’s boyfriend remarked: “I just feel like they treat Hannah [the main character] like she’s a college student. She’s a sophomore. Stuff like that doesn’t happen to sophomores.” Newsflash: Things like that do happen to people even younger than sophomores. Rape can happen to anyone. No matter how old they are. Self harm and suicide can affect anyone no matter their age. The themes of 13 Reasons Why are definitely not for the faint hearted. However, the story does need to be told. I do not believe that the adaption of 13 Reasons Why gives the subject matters justice. For that reason, I will not be watching 13 Reasons Why. If you choose to watch it, please take caution before doing so.
