After all his planning. All his careful, precise work to get this far...and it was suddenly for nothing. How did he not see this coming?
These were the anguished thoughts of Aaravos, the Startouch master of all the sources, and who had soon come to reach his goal at last...as his tiny, caterpillar vessel fell from the shell of Lord-now King Viren’s ear.
He heard the Dark Mage demand an explanation from his son, the culprit, grow faint as the caterpillar hit the ground painfully. It then had to quickly roll onto its front and scuttle out of the way to avoid being stomped on by passing horses.
“What? I was just trying to smush it.” The son explained, not seeing what he had done.
“If I wanted it killed I would have done so myself!” Viren snapped back angrily, but if he stopped the group over a small, purple creature no one understood the importance of, he would have to explain. He couldn’t risk that...Aaravos would have to get back to them by his own means.
That must be what the mage was thinking, Aaravos reasoned as his caterpillar tried desperately to keep up. If Viren slowed down or stopped somewhere, Aaravos could get back to him.
...this was not how it progressed. The vessel tried to keep up with them as best it could, but it didn’t last long. A bird saw the creature and snatched it up, leading to Aaravos having to wait for it to land before the caterpillar could do anything. It managed to bite the bird then escape, but run into several other woodland beasts on the way.
Finally it came to rest on a leaf shaded by another leaf. Tired, sore, and completely lost...Aaravos conceded defeat for now and settled to rest. He would figure out how to get back to Viren later...because he had to get to him. This was Aaravos’ chance to escape that hellscape Avizandum sent him to...

With her back to him, he smirked. He could tell a lie was being uttered easily...but he didn’t immediately call her out on it.
“And how many humans have you known, hm?” He asked instead, leaning forward so he rested his elbow on the table. Chin on his palm and watching her with a quirked brow.
THE HIDDEN SECRET OF XADIA
@asking-the-danger-star
It has been a year since the war with the dark mage and his mutated warriors attacked the dragon queen and the brave warriors of xadia, both human and elf alike, fought and won peace. This peace is fragile and very new so everyone is treading lightly and trying to work on new rules truces and alliances between all. The dragon queen is happily raising her new son and all of xadia is celebrating.
A shadow swiftly passes over the landscape of xadia like a graceful bird soaring threw the clouds. This however was not a bird. This figure was an elf with glowing white hair and stunning dark skin. Her eyes shine like stars as the sun glitters in them. This elf soars on large dark blue feathered wings from the peak of the queens mountain headed threw the open plains for a beautiful forest hiding a waterfall so pristine and beautiful it looked like magic.
(Behind the waterfall in the cave and out on the other side.)
When this elf lands she is carrying a big sack with unknown contents. She folds her wings and tosses the sack over her shoulder before walking threw the shallow water headed for a hidden cave just behind the waterfall. The cave radiates with an enchanting magic none would remember since it has not been sinced in over 5000 years . The only thing keeping the magic from being discovered is the natural flow if xadian magic that blends into the waterfall and balances it out. This secret cave is filled with gems of all sorts and looks like the entrance to a whole other world.
The female elf carefully ducks behind the waterfall to take the path threw the cave lighted by a glowing magic stone and appears on the other side in a beautiful hidden glade filled with untouched flora and fawna that feels so safe they don't even look at her as she flies off threw the sky headed for the largest tree that's top stretches out and nearly blots out the sky hiding the glade and most of the forest from any looking on from above. At the base of the tree there is a large natural hole in the roots and trunk of the tree where she has made a home. Inside as she lands in the soft mossy grass floor a small cry of pain can be heard. The elf quickly rushes inside and takes the contents out of her bag to begin taking care of the smallest unicorn in xadias history.
This hidden glade is the last remaining safe haven for xadias only unicorns.

RP: Now Hiring! Friend Guide
@tempestmoon-tdpoc
Peccantum wasn't a fool. He was quite secure in that belief. Years of study and research affirmed, in his mind, that he was not a fool.
Since he was not a fool, he knew when he was out of his depth. Unfortunately, this was one of those times Peccantum had to admit that to himself. He was not qualified for this trip, with no magic to defend himself and no assistance should he get in trouble...
The area he needed to investigate was rather deep set in difficult to navigate terrain. There were beasts lied within, magical animals that would certainly get him injured, at the very least.
Not for the first time, Peccantum cursed his lack of magic.
Having a need to get to the ruins he were sure were inside, he decided he needed help. Help that came in the form of other people, unfortunately for him. There wasn't a soul in Xadia who would be willing to help him, especially if he let it slip what he was actually looking for. They would likely kill him instead...
But, Peccantum also knew that money could sway just about anyone. As irritating as the thought was, he would need to hire a guide. Someone who knew the area well, and someone who wasn't elite...
Over several weeks, Peccantum saved up as much money as he could. Both working jobs and using as little as possible, and in some less than legitimate means. Either way, the amount he came up with was... Decent.
So the search began for someone to hire. He was lucky, as it took less time than the previous endeavor. That was only due to the fliers posted everywhere nearby...
Peccantum followed the fliers, and asked a few people where his chosen guide would be and followed them cautiously, never too trusting of a stranger.
In the end, he ended up in a place he did not expect to be...

Enjoy your musical chaotic gift from @tempestmoon-tdpoc sent from me to you because master @aaravosanswers asked me to.
“Hm? What are you talking about, @tempestmoon-tdpoc?”
He sees the bells just barely...all strung up along the mirror frame outside. Silent because the mirror is not in motion, but sadly unheard in the other unknown realm he is currently in.
“...well, that is...interesting? What were you trying to accomplish here?”

Hello, Aaravos Number Two! Do you like bells?
~Everest
“I’m afraid @tempestmoon-tdpoc beat you to it.”
Aaravos points to the mirror frame where the bells are all hanging.
“They didn’t seem to account for the whole ‘in another unknown world’ detail, I don’t think.”

Five fingers, starling? Are you sure you are entirely elven? There is no shame in being half human.
Horses are wonderful companions, sweet and caring. But perhaps, since you are half Moonshadow, you would prefer a Shadowpaw? I am afraid Moonstriders are difficult mounts, not suitable for those who do not have many hours to devote to training. I once had a Shadowpaw, though; she was more loyal than many elves. Also, she purred. Elves rarely do this.
A gryphon might be a good mount for you. They can be intractable at times, but there is hardly a thing more loyal than a gryphon whose trust you have earned.
Do you have any preference? Of course I shall help you find and train whatever animal you choose.
*blushes* happy new year master aaravos. I have a friend I would love to introduce to you. She's very shy and quite unique like yourself. Could I introduce her to you?
Of course, starling! I’m always happy to grow my flock.
Happy new year to you too, sweet starling.

The child gasped at the wings, “OH! Your wings are so pretty! Look look! I can make wings too!” In a flash of green, in the girl’s place stood a little sparrow. She flapped a bit and turned back into a little elfling, “See? How cool is that?!”
“Mother, please,” Kit laughed at the nickname, and turned back towards the other elf, “My name is not ‘kitty’ it’s Kitori, Kitty is just easier for the kids to say, and I am far from the most talented healer of the tribe,” He scratched the back of his head awkwardly. Kit blinked at the revelation and hummed, “I... Hm.. memories are... complicated.” Kit shifted to sit on the ground in front of her, “Meditation is always helpful for me. I have things I try to forget, sometimes, but it doesn’t really work that way. Instead, I have to remember, and accept them. Maybe a similar technique could help?”
Mother hummed, “It’s possible. Though you always did have such a strong spiritual connection to the Earth, so the meditations did always come easier to you.”
Kit nodded thoughtfully and looked back at the winged elf, “It is up to you, I can help talk you through it, if you want to try.”
Look what the storm blew in
@kitthedruid
It's a dark cold and stormy night with lightning flashing and thunder rumbling threw the sky. Trees sway violently as the rain beats down tareing threw the foliage with fierce anger. Every creature in xadia is hunkered down hideing and waiting for it to pass. Ever creature but one. A large dark shadow rushes threw the sky just below the cloud line carrying a bundle of stuff in there arms.
Suddenly the lightning strikes close enough to the shadow that it singers it's large wings and the shadow begins to struggle to stay up. It makes it a few more miles getting lower and lower as they fly untill soon they crash land in a small clearing near a nomadic elven tribe. It's a large dark blue feather winged creature. It's the size of an elf but it's wings are much bigger than most skywing elves. It's curled in a ball and in the dark night and stormy weather it was impossible to tell what it was. When morning came and the storm passed a group of small elven children explore and find the creature but are to afraid to approach so they run and tell the others in the tribe. They would have to send someone to investigate.

Oh, starling, you needn't worry. I am not fool enough to place someone where their loyalties would be at all divided-- nor am I offended by this; you knew the assassin and the craftsman before you met me. If you are willing, I would like your help planning our takeover so that we may take Xadia without a single blade drawn or spell cast. With any luck, Xadia will be ours before the assassin leader knows we are coming.
Of course you may have the earth, my captain! Perhaps @everest-is-not-a-fairy or @tempestmoon-tdpoc would like the skies?
We may need to hold off until my flock is larger, but right now we have the element of surprise, something that I have learned from unfortunately personal experience is worth more than any spell.
Dearest starlings, I've been informed that one of mun's friends and I would make "quite a team."
@logandeservesbetter how would you like to help me conquer Xadia? I would give you Lux Aurea to govern; mun says that, given your fascination with fire, you would appreciate that.
( @oliveofthenight I have not forgotten you. For your efforts as captain of my flock, I offer you dominion over the skies. That leaves four other positions for the other sources-- would anyone like to apply? Your appointment of course depends on my victory, do remember that.)
....for anyone wondering, mun is coloring vigorously and pretending I do not exist.

Starling, why do you need permission from "Spiky Elves"? @ask-runaan-anything is not a mage; he cannot stop you. (can he?)
Hm. 😏 not with the wings I shall give you. @oliveofthenight @tempestmoon-tdpoc will you teach the starlings to fly?
Fly to Xadia, starlings! 💖 I await your arrival eagerly.

He looked at the page she showed him, looking over the wings and markings on them. He was a bit impressed by the diamonds added to the bottom of each wing...but also had to internally laugh at how inaccurate it was. Not that he could voice this safely.
He simply tilted his head, making the vessel respond with noncommittal clicking noises.

His back arched again at the touch. Why did that feel so good?
He then had the caterpillar make a few acknowledging clicking noises in response...before looking from her to the map and crawling over to Lux Aurea. He crawled in a circle around that point, then raised his front two pairs of legs and looked at her. Giving another click and a squeak.

How curious... Perhaps he didn’t have to leave so soon after all...but he would wait a bit longer to be sure. Still, it would be nice to know where he was.
The caterpillar turned toward the map, looking for the small mountain on one side and the forest on the other. That would tell him the location of her glade.
