After the cafeteria campaign meetup, the Cordie for President crew headed to the lockers to get ready for class.

However, despite the fact his locker was in the opposite direction, Jai followed Cordie to her locker so he could try his best to ask her something very important.

Jordie immediately noticed a moment coming together and decidedly kept it quiet since she'd been team Jai since forever.

"Maybe this cloud head will finally get it together and notice he's into her." Jordie thought quietly.

"I can hear you thinking, Jordin." Cordie eyed her.

Jordie smiled innocently. "What are you talking about?!"

"We've been besties too long, I can just tell. What's up?"

"Besides you spraying a new hole in the ozone layer?"

"That's a myth big corps spread to pass the responsibility of their pollution onto the consumer."

"OK, huffpost, but for real, I can't breathe behind all that!"

"If I don't, it won't hold all day"

"Umm," Jai finally cleared his throat. "I think it'll be fine, I mean you always look great."

"Jai?" Cordie looked over. "I didn't realize you were here. Did you need something?"

"Umm, yeah, actually," He gulped. "I was wondering, what are you doing after school?"

"Oh, well, I have to set up my debate club table so I can recruit members."

"Right." He laughed nervously. "Did you want some help with that?"

"But don't you have football practice?"

"Yeah, but I have a 30 minute window before practice starts."

"I don't want to be the reason you're late though. I have a lot to set up. It's OK, you don't have to—"

"Cordelia, Jai offered his help. You should take it." She had a pointed look that confused Cordie.

"Am I missing something? What are you two not telling me?" Cordie looked from Jordie to Jai.

"Stop being so suspicious, Cord. I was just helping Jai out cause he looked like he wanted to ask you something." Jordie emphasized those last words and then stressed a look at Jai.

"Umm, yeah," Jai cleared his throat again, "There was something I wanted to ask you."

"Oh, umm, what is it?" Cordie got worried as this weird game of telphone was making her anxious.

"Well, uh, I wanted to ask you, would you—"

i started play Control in xbox. Now i understand the hypes for this game. So much that my whole family watch me play and narrated walkthroughs to get cutscenes faster. My sister (ignored work emails after first cleanse part) got high blood pressure because of hotel doors. My brother (small child) got fear of murder blocks before telphone thing. 10/10 game so far, very family-friendly. promotes sibling violence

It's hard for them to sleep anymore. Sure, Siesta was calm and heralded as a time to finally rest and relax, but, it'd hard for one's circadian rhythm to forget eleven sleepless years of endless games. This is exactly the reason why a staticky little tv sits atop the chest of drawers in the quaint Kansas farmhouse bedroom of Jessica Telphone and Esme Ramsey.

They leave it on HGTV when all of the channels have turned to reruns after 9pm. They've rarely ever paid any actual attention to houses get flipped, they don't need to, they have all the entertainment they need laying in each other's arms, telling little stories to each other. Esme is almost always the first to fall asleep, arm laid across Jess's waist, head laying on her shoulder. Today, though, it's Jess that falls asleep first.

She's always had a strong hug but when she's sleeping Jess tends to hold Esme just the smallest bit tighter. She knows they'll be here in the morning, whole and alive, but subconsciously she still worries she'll lose them. Held closely in her arms, Esme holds Jess's face in their right hand and pulls away a single strand of hair with the other.

"I know you've heard it before, but you are so important to me. After everything you're still kind and soft, you don't have to but you still are and that's one of my favorite things about you." Esme whispers, barely audible over the folks on the tv talking about house foundations.

"I love you now, and for the future until blaseball ends us both. I'm really glad we have this Siesta to just be. Even if it's not some grand thing and actually just us lying here watching the same 20 episodes of Hlouse Flippers, it's still nice to have." Esme's closed her eyes now and is resting her forehead on Jess's. As such she doesn't notice the small smirk flash across Jess's lips.

Jess reaches her right hand to gently cup Esme's cheek and whispers back, "I love you too." She laughs a little before asking "Kiss me?"

"Oh, of course, Jessie." They very gently close the gap between them and their beloved. It's slow and languid, an acknowledgment of the time they have now. The tv on the other end of the room talks about kitchen backsplash tile, but, they are none the wiser as they have each other to pay attention to. For now until the end.

Smutty Telephone Entry

Written for the NSFW edition of the Telphone Game on the Capri discord! Where writers and artists get 1h to create a short piece inspired solely by the work of the person before you in the chain with no further context.

The first time Damen met Laurent, it was at the welcome party Auguste threw when he joined the team. It was held at the bar down the road from the club, a cosy place with and mostly inoffensive music and pretty good food. All of his new teammates were there to ply him with beers and raucously ask for this life story, and somewhere behind them had been a younger, lither, and snarkier version of their captain.

Over the next few months Damen learnt that Laurent was a constant shadow around his brother’s games, a somewhat haughty shadow who nonetheless toted around his team merchandise and his ‘Go Lions!’ banner with more unwavering dedication than most people had to amateur football. He was friends with everyone, almost as good friends as Auguste was with them under the sarcasm. And Damen didn’t miss the fact that quite a few of the players who were single had a comment here and there on the aside about the blond’s face and figure. And a couple who weren’t as well.

And so they’d ended up at the kickoff party for the next season, at their usual bar, most of the team steadily getting drunker and drunker as they loudly proclaimed the last chance they’d have for a while to get so hungover they took days to recover. Until it was just Laurent and Damen tucked away in quiet, warm conversation at one table in the corner. Laurent’s hand moving steadily up his thigh as the heat in his gaze also creeped upwards.

And if the look of exasperation than Auguste shot them when he spotted them leaving together wasn’t quite directed at Damen, he didn’t think of that until later. Until after he’d taken Laurent home and kissed him against the front door while he’d fumbled his keys, dragged off his shirt halfway through the living room and carried him the last few steps into his bedroom. Lain the other man out across his mattress, naked and beautiful, and made him gasp those breathy, throaty moans with his tongue and his fingers.

Their first round was with Laurent on his back, scouring thin lines down Damen’s shoulders with neatly-cropped nails. Laurent came first in both their wrapped in a firm tangle around him, not crying out but instead the opposite, going completely silent as his lips parted wordlessly and his body jerked and tensed under and around Damen. Damen groaned, snapping his hips a handful more times before following him over.

Laurent announced after, lying back on the pillows unselfconsciously naked as Damen cleaned them up, that he wanted something better than bar food. And so under his demands Damen ordered a pizza, and paid for it, and was the one to get dressed to answer the door. Damen waited until he’d almost finished it to point out that bar, in fact, sold pizza. And so this was technically bar food.

Laurent responded by pushing him back onto the bed with a careless shove and giving a very focused demonstration on how good he too was with his mouth. Finally pulling back with hooded eyes and a throat raspy with use to say, “Turn over.”

Damen did.

The next morning, Damen woke first to Laurent snoring just the slightest bit into the next pillow. The sight broke a twitch of a smile to his face. He slipped out into the kitchen to get coffee brewing and, when he stuck his head back through the bedroom door to see Laurent hadn’t moved, got eggs frying in the pan and toast in the toaster.

He brought the breakfast and coffee on a tray back into a bedroom, contemplating whether or not to wake the other man when Laurent stirred anyway at the drip of the bed. Sleepy blue eyes blinked a few times, as he muttered, “What time is it?”

“Almost 9.”

Laurent groaned, rubbing a hand over his face, then sitting up quickly. “I have to go, I have work,” he said. He reached for the coffee. “Is this for me?”

And with that he downed his coffee in an alarmingly few number of sips given its temperature, threw back the covers in one smooth motion, and was up and dressed before Damen had worked out how to offer him a lift to work.

“Is this for me too?” he said as he grabbed the egg on toast straight off the plate and, still holding it, made for the door. “Thanks.”

And he was gone.

When Damen saw Laurent again, it was a week later at the next training session. He ducked his head when the man arrived with his brother, unsure of how he was supposed to act.

Laurent snorted when he approached. “Don’t get shy now, I know you’re not.”

“Laurent,” Damen hissed, mindful of Auguste in hearing distance.

Laurent rolled his eyes, though it wasn’t mean. “My brother captains a football team. It’s not like you’re the first player I’ve gone home with.

“Oh,” Damen replied, resisting the urge to rub the back of his neck like an awkward cliche.

By the time he’d successfully fought off that urge, Laurent had turned away to greet someone else.

The training after that, Damen sidled casually up to Laurent’s side and asked, “So, do you want to maybe get dinner tonight, or–”

Laurent turned to look at him. “Aww,” he replied, with a small smile. Not mocking, but casual. “You’re sweet.” Then turned away again.

A few minutes later, Damen pretended not to see Auguste elbow Laurent in the side, and not hear him whisper, “Seriously, can you stop breaking my teammates’ hearts?”

And so it was three more weeks after that when Auguste tossed Damen his keys in the middle of training and said, “Damn I forgot some gear at my place. You drove here, right? Can you grab it so I can keep taking training?”

Auguste and Laurent shared an apartment not far from the club, so it was a quick trip. Damen let himself in with the key, only to see after he stepped inside that, though the kitchen and lounge room was dark, there was light peeking out from under the door of one of the rooms down the hall. This was the first time Damen had been in Auguste’s apartment, but he took it that probably meant Laurent was home. He swallowed, turning hurriedly toward the other side of the lounge room where Auguste had described his own room as being.

He was halfway there when he heard a sound. He opened his mouth, ready to reassure Laurent he wasn’t a burglar, until he registered what the sound had been. A moan.

A familiar moan.

Damen’s face burned, and suddenly realises that he was stalking in the dark through the apartment of someone who thought he was home alone. For a moment he considered turning right back around and leaving, closing that door as soundlessly as he could manage, never mind that he was five steps away from Auguste’s room–

And then he heard the next sound. A name.

“Damen…”

No. Oh no no no, he told himself. That meant he should definitely leave, that meant–

He was down the hall before he could stop his feet, fingers closing around the knob to Laurent’s room. He heard it again as he twisted, his name and this time tapering off into a slow gasp–

Laurent was lying on his bed, wearing only a shirt rucked up past his stomach. He was stroking himself with one hand, and with the other–Damen’s breath caught even tighter in his throat. With the other Laurent was slowly sliding a plug up inside himself, the shiny black plastic of the base visible around his fingers.

In a split-second Laurent froze, going utterly still in shock. Damen froze too, in shock of a somewhat different kind, his pulse already fast suddenly now thumping deafeningly loudly in his ears.

Damen, somehow, managed to break the silence first. “I–” he blurted, the need to say something forcing the words out of his mouth. “I was just here to pick up–”

Laurent interrupted him. “Ugh,” he said drily, promptly cutting Damen off, “oh just fucking kill me.”

Damen closed his mouth with a snap.

Laurent rolled his eyes, in a way that was still somehow unconcerned despite his position. “I suppose you’re going to think this means something now?”

Damen opened his mouth again, but it was more a parting of lips than a genuine attempt to answer. The initial shock passed his gaze was drawn magnetically to the long exposed line of Laurent’s body, the high flush on his pale cheeks, the tightness with which his knuckles were clenched around the plug. Unbidden, Damen felt his lips begin to curl upward.

“Ugh,” Laurent finally said again, breaking the second long silence. “Fine. You might as well come in and stop hovering. Take your pants off.”

The budding smile became a grin.

Aubergine and peach soup

Aziraphale sealed the envelope with wax and dropped it primly into the letterbox outside his bookshop, whereupon the message within was converted into a stream of ones and zeroes and rendered in high resolution on Crowley's sleek, black smartphone.

Crowley, ever on the bleeding edge of modern technology, preferred to text message, but Aziraphale found mobile telphones to be utterly terrifying, so they'd worked out a system whereby Crowley could text away to his heart's content and the angel would find his messages, neatly typed on telegram cards, instantly transported to wherever he happened to be and slipped lovingly into the inside pocket of his jacket.

They had relied on a number of methods of communication throughout the years. Through the 14th century they'd played a number of games of chess against one another, entirely through the medium of scribbled notes on parchment, hastily delivered by mounted courier. The less said about Crowley's brief experiment with carrier pigeons, the better*.

Aziraphale, as he had for millenia, picked up piecemeal the parts of contemporary culture that he liked and discarded the rest. His dislike of modern technology did not extend to emojis, which he embraced with a passionate zeal, and could use in a number of creative ways. Many of his hand-written letters were littered with cry-laughing faces and heart-eyes, beautifully shaded in meticulously detailed charcoal.

Sometimes, this could cause miscommunications.

"Angel, I don't understand this recipe you sent me," said Crowley one day, breezing into the shop.

"Recipe?" The angel racked his brain to remember his previous message, which he was fairly certain had been a rather saucy invitation to certain nocturnal activities.

"I really don't think that aubergine and peach would go at all well together, especially not in a soup. Is it a soup?" He waved his phone under Aziraphale's nose. "There's water droplets, I think?"

"Oh," hemmed the angel. "Ah, you see, this wasn't strictly-"

"I mean, I brought all the ingredients," continued Crowley, pulling fruit from a carrier bag, "but I'm very skeptical."

"My dear boy, this was really more of a figurative-"

"These peaches are lovely and ripe though," he said, bringing one up to Aziraphale's face so that he could smell it.

"Crowley! It was an innuendo."

The demon stalled, regarding the peach with great curiosity. "What does it mean?"

"Surely you must know!"

Crowley just stared at the angel for a long moment, slack jawed. Aziraphale rolled his eyes.

"I suppose I'll just have to show you, darling," he said, pulling him by the hand into the back room.

* Crowley had received a well-earned commendation for the subsequent widespread adoption of a means of communication that lacked speed, accuracy, and bowel control.

Telphone Mediations- The Good and The Bad !

I am a big fan of having everyone in the same place at the same time focusing on the same dispute. I find that if this occurs, more often than not, the matter will settle. The parties are focused on the matter at hand and are “forced” to “deal�� with the issues. Being physically present, they cannot “sidestep” or otherwise avoid the dispute. They cannot let the pull of other matters kidnap their attention or use those other matters as an excuse to avoid dealing with this one.

In a perfect world, everyone being in the same place at the same time focusing on the same thing is doable. But, it is not reality. Often one of the parties lives far away or due to a lack of transportation or other reason, cannot physically be present. Or, opposing counsel have several cases together and desire to use the “spreadsheet” method of mediation and mediate several matters simultaneously. In this scenario, having the clients available by telephone works out better and even the attorneys may appear by telephone.

In most instances, conducting mediations by telephone has not been problematic. However, recently, I conducted two mediations by telephone that did not settle most likely because they were by telephone and not in person.

In both instances, everyone appeared by telephone – both attorneys and parties. One mediation was scheduled by telephone because it was set up on 2 days’ notice on the eve of trial. The other was by telephone due to the distance involved. In both instances, I spoke only to the attorneys who in turn spoke to their clients. My  lack of direct contact with the actual party probably contributed to the lack of settlement; I find speaking directly to the party face to face often alters her viewpoint and perspective. This is so, even if I am simply talking with her counsel and she is listening to our conversation. What we discuss affects her thinking. Instead, on these two occasions, everything I mentioned to counsel was filtered by the attorney in her conversation with her client. And… I have no idea how much or little of what I said to counsel was relayed to the party or how it was conveyed.

In the past, I have also conducted many mediations in which the attorney is present but the party is appearing by telephone. Again, the same dynamic is present; I am speaking to the attorney who is then calling her client and relaying either very little or a lot of what I have just said. Like the telephone game (using tin cans) we all played as kids, a lot probably got lost in translation so that the client knows little of my exact conversation with counsel. What she hears is second hand and perhaps sanitized.

So… the take away is while mediation by telephone is sometimes a necessary evil of our very mobile and time crunched society, be wary of the dynamics involved. While it may be more “convenient” to conduct a mediation by telephone (in whole or in part), it may also sow the seeds of the inability to settle. Sometimes, there is simply no substitute for being in the same place at the same time focusing on the same issue.

Telphone Mediations- The Good and The Bad !

I am a big fan of having everyone in the same place at the same time focusing on the same dispute. I find that if this occurs, more often than not, the matter will settle. The parties are focused on the matter at hand and are “forced” to “deal” with the issues. Being physically present, they cannot “sidestep” or otherwise avoid the dispute. They cannot let the pull of other matters kidnap their attention or use those other matters as an excuse to avoid dealing with this one.

In a perfect world, everyone being in the same place at the same time focusing on the same thing is doable. But, it is not reality. Often one of the parties lives far away or due to a lack of transportation or other reason, cannot physically be present. Or, opposing counsel have several cases together and desire to use the “spreadsheet” method of mediation and mediate several matters simultaneously. In this scenario, having the clients available by telephone works out better and even the attorneys may appear by telephone.

In most instances, conducting mediations by telephone has not been problematic. However, recently, I conducted two mediations by telephone that did not settle most likely because they were by telephone and not in person.

In both instances, everyone appeared by telephone – both attorneys and parties. One mediation was scheduled by telephone because it was set up on 2 days’ notice on the eve of trial. The other was by telephone due to the distance involved. In both instances, I spoke only to the attorneys who in turn spoke to their clients. My  lack of direct contact with the actual party probably contributed to the lack of settlement; I find speaking directly to the party face to face often alters her viewpoint and perspective. This is so, even if I am simply talking with her counsel and she is listening to our conversation. What we discuss affects her thinking. Instead, on these two occasions, everything I mentioned to counsel was filtered by the attorney in her conversation with her client. And… I have no idea how much or little of what I said to counsel was relayed to the party or how it was conveyed.

In the past, I have also conducted many mediations in which the attorney is present but the party is appearing by telephone. Again, the same dynamic is present; I am speaking to the attorney who is then calling her client and relaying either very little or a lot of what I have just said. Like the telephone game (using tin cans) we all played as kids, a lot probably got lost in translation so that the client knows little of my exact conversation with counsel. What she hears is second hand and perhaps sanitized.

So… the take away is while mediation by telephone is sometimes a necessary evil of our very mobile and time crunched society, be wary of the dynamics involved. While it may be more “convenient” to conduct a mediation by telephone (in whole or in part), it may also sow the seeds of the inability to settle. Sometimes, there is simply no substitute for being in the same place at the same time focusing on the same issue.

Pacar somplak tiap weekend ganggu tidur di pagi hari 😜😜 melek mata gangguin gw pagi2 dan melanjutkan game semalam astagah mandi dulu kek! 😪 jujur sih gw juga masih ngantuk gegara semalam becandaan sama tetangga sampai larut malam😅😅 anyway gw pilih cartoon si pacar pake sunglasses karena apa? Kemarin pagi di kejutkan dengan video call tiba2 ada yg pk sunglasses, Sapa nih? lebay sok terkejut... Baru pertama liat dia live pake sunglasses, biasakan foto doank 😉 ceritanya akhir tahun kemarin ganti kacamata sekalian beli sunglasses, cie taon baru kacamata baru cuiiiii 🙈 gw bilang sih itu kaca mata keknya sama aja, dy blg beda ini agak gede dikit.. Dan waktu di optik gw ngak liat sunglasses nya, jd gw ngak tau model sunglasses nya gede juga 😜 pertama kali gw ganti kacamata segede bagong, ini org blg itu kacamata sama muka gedean kacamata!! 😂 ngak biasa dia liat muka gw ketutup kacamata gede jd pas telphone ngomongnya copot aja tuh kacamata, pas gw copot dy blg "better", ternyata kata si pacar, kalau gw pake kacamata itu mata gede gw ngak keliatan jd aneh 😂 masa sih? ntah kenapa gw suka sama tu kaca mata 😅Sekarang gantian y booo.. Hmmm, si pacar wilayah wajah dia suka bagian alis, terutama mata gw karena belo 😪 ngak belo2 amat kali pakk dan juga hidung, padahal hidung ngak mancung2 amat, tapi dia pernah satu hari nyeletuk sambil pegang idung gw "is this plastic surgery?" Otomatis emosi jiwa! "You!!! Are you crazy?? This is natural!!" Dia ketawa "eyebrows, eyes and nose looks perfect, so I think it plastic surgery" emosi meluap hari itu gw marah dan minta pulang 😭 "terserah pendapat situ apa, yg pasti ini semua alami!!" Dia pun bingung kenapa gw marah? Sampai anterin gw pulang rumah gw ngak ngomong donk, akhirnya perjalanan pulang dia telphone "i am sorry if my words hurt your feelings" 😥 besokannya belom kapok ngomingin mata, si pacar bilang "I want all our babies have your eyes" eeeee u kata gambar, bisa tinggal di bikin sesuka hati, lah kan kita mana tau nanti brojol tu anak mau mata kaya siapa? Emang dia juga bisa milih?? Duuuhhh ni laki kadang2 imagination kelewat tinggi #junhyeonhuastories #coupletalk
