You ever go through an experience and think to yourself " How did I make it out alive?". You ever wonder if you have a guardian angel by your side? The day I had my rollover accident I believed I had help in surviving...As the car flipped, the windows broke, I raised my hands and said, "It's just like a rollercoaster ride, it will end". By the 2nd flip I felt this warmth...As if I was trapped in a protective bubble...All my fear vanished because all I could feel was safe, protected, loved...but that warmth told me everything was going to be ok just hold on...After the 3rd flip I realized I was sitting upright, I quickly unbuckled myself and ran out the car...No, bleeding, nothing broken...I barley had a few bruises (I felt the pain the next few days). As I stared at the car every window and door were broken and busted...All but MINE! Feel free to share your guardian angel story. *I'm sure my angel is tired of saving me time and time again, but no matter if it's through faith or real life we all have angels surrounding us.*

🎼 You could be the match that lights a spark, that shines a little light on a broken heart…🎵 No one could have saved me from active addiction, I honestly believe that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I don’t think anyone can be rescued, begged, pleaded, poked, or prodded into choosing this way of life. What CAN happen though is seeing those who are living proof that we DO recover. Towards the end of my active addiction, expected for someone to swoop in and save me, to kidnap me drag me to rehab, and fix my life for me. That’s not what happened. Instead, I was given the tools, support, and resources ti save myself! This was wayyy more than I could have ever asked for, and probably more grace than I deserved. Today is #NationalWriteDownYourStoryDay and if you're new around here, fun fact: I've been doing exactly that for over a decade. Nearly two decades. And I have two full length collections of poetry out in the world sharing that story. And a third one coming this fall. If you're an artist of any kind, you're already doing this as well. Even if you don't label yourself a poet, a painter, a doodler, a storyteller or a musician. And there is an amazing beauty in that. And, if you're not writing your story, I consider you to start. Maybe not for the world around you. Maybe not for future generations of your own family. Maybe not even for any reason in particular at all. So, yesterday I got an interesting DM from someone who said they weren't sure about three words which I had written in the excerpt from my book. (I posted it a few days ago under a photo of me). This person said that if my book was still in the editing stages then there were probably "more eloquent" ways to express what I had said. I've decided to respond here. My book is part memoir, it's how I felt about my situation. My book is not in the editing stages as I've mentioned multiple times that I'm seeking an agent/a publisher. If you feel the need to critique me, at least take the time to make it constructive. Telling me you don't like something for the sake of telling me is just mean spirited. Don't do it over a DM. Own it. Post it so everyone can see. Maybe others want to weigh in.
