#tell me why this scene made me CRYYYY

some highlights (2 me) include:

-daisuke being a gardener in this au while everyone else gets to be a prince/princess. this is punintentional because his last name, 'niwa', is a homophone for garden in jp. everytime he's described working with the plants or the flowers/garden itself is described as warm and kind i cryyyy and he's got such cute lil aprons/overalls on all the time. there's a portion where when he decides to firmly talk about protecting riku that she sees him as lovely as any prince even when he's all covered in dirt and stuff 😭

-to go along with that the booklet opens up with riku herself wanting to be a flower for daisuke even though she describes herself as a weed!! ['originally, risa preferred to spend time inside the castle, wearing a dress, reading poetry, or doing some embroidery. on the other hand, i run around the garden and get scolded by saehara, the butler. risa is like a rose blooming nobly in a greenhouse, and i'm just a weed. flowers like dandelions and thistles are everywhere and no one pays attention to them. maybe that's why i feel more calm outside.']

-riku's agency!!! this is the closest she's ever ever ever gotten to figuring out and understanding outright that dark == daisuke. even though this is something krad tries to manipulate of her (by fanning the rumor that dark is a vampire hoping to destroy the world it's krad btw and that dark's transformed into the 'person closest to her' (daisuke) in order to hurt her) she refuses to accuse or hate daisuke, completely rejects krad's attempts to manipulate her and says outright she won't believe in him, only daisuke- who's been the one begging (inside dark) to be believed in too. [i won't believe what he says. so, niwa-kun, let me hear it. i'll believe anything you say. i want you to tell me the truth. your feelings. with your smile, erase this shadow of anxiety...] riku's bit overall is her trying to 'defy her fate' of an arranged marriage she wants literally nothing to do with while wanting to protect her country + protect her inherited pendant that dark is targeting, called 'innocent black,' alongside even looking up the cure to vampirism later on to try to help and protect daisuke. and the whole portion is just SO GOOOOOD--- ['niwa-kun, it's too early to give up. there's still a way. even if you're one of the vampires, i'll help you. you've protected me all this time, this time it's me who'll protect you. i read over and over again how to break the curse.']

-the scene where riku almost ultra turbo blasts vamp!dark (and daisuke) to hell with a cross is in here 😂 but apparently daisuke is the one who even made it for riku from the start! this is actually one of my fav parts in the drama CD itself, (because it includes the 'the person i like has a pure heart!' lines) but in the booklet the way it's written out is even WORSEEEE AND MORE PAINFUL BECAUSE ---

"the person i like is a pure-hearted person!" i don't know why i got angry. however, at those words, the smile disappeared from dark's face. "...how can you say that i'm not like that?" "eh.....?" i was confused. he's a terrifying vampire who will destroy the country, right? i wonder if he'll say it back with full confidence like he did earlier. why do you look so sad and lonely? black eyes staring at me from beneath black hair. even though there's nothing similar... why.... does he look like niwa-kun when he's crying?!

-WHAT THE HELLLLLL later daisuke has this insane monologue bit too

riku-san, believe in me.... trying to destroy the country, or targeting you, that's impossible. but maybe it's better for me not to be around. 'the person i like has a pure heart.' even though she said so... my hands are already covered in blood. before i knew it, even my heart became dark. what i thought about today in the greenhouse, i wonder if riku-san would say the same thing even if she knew...?'

-WHAT THE HELLLLLLL X2!!!!! even though riku's willing to give her blood and stay beside him until morning to cure daisuke after she figures out he's vampiric/dark, daisuke refuses to actually draw any of her blood because the temptation for him is 'too sweet.' instead they only kiss and daisuke is implied to have transformed right in front of her (a la his hair "darkening") before running away. (he slips and vanishes and blends into the black night all cool-style 🤧)

-initially daisuke wanted to find a fabled 'flower that would never wither or fade,' which in the very end turns out to be daisuke's love/'eternity' for riku, and dark gets his whole 'i told you so' moment only for daisuke to say 'well dark's explanations are hard to understand' and they bicker despite the happy ending(tm). once again the fact their hearts are unified is emphasized by the way they want to protect the things and people important to them.

-it's literally only a single line but apparently dark sleeps in the dirt in this au?!!? 🤧😭😂 the line is literally like 'dark sleeps in the soil' ok dirt man whatever you like it's probably supposed to be reminiscent of a grave though

-there's some more good scenes like a whole one where wiz gobbles up all these sunflower seeds that daisuke's trying to sow to force him to stay with riku (he can't leave without the sunflowers) and his nose starts bleeding because of it, and daisuke looks soooo sooo heartbroken and worried (which serves as an important detail for riku to be reminded of his compassion and kindness later on, because she 'can't forget that expression') or the irony of hiwatari being a vampire hunter and a vampire himself thanks to krad all at once, or dark saying daisuke is the ‘kind of guy who’s always full of excuses’ while daisuke outright tries to say he's not a vampire (he is by now,) or daisuke rescuing riku (and the accompanying art for it!!!) and riku wondering if his light movements are what it means for him to be a vampire but this post is big enough already so i'll close it here. it was a good ass booklet im telling u!!!!

the entire bit of Mando going to see Grogu... the planet, the beautiful scenery, the Japanese inspirations in both visuals and the music.. and the clothes, omg the clothes!!

the ant-droids building a Jedi temple?!!! that is likely the one where Luke taught Ben?! omg..

just R2 being R2. i love him. will forever love him. 💖

AHSOKA FKIN TANO SHOWING UP SO CASUALLY LOOKING GORGEOUS AS EVER HELLO?!! and um.. AHSOKA HAVING MET LUKE?!!! so are we actually gonna see her meet Luke and talk about Anakin in her own show? please and thank you. i need to be emotionally destroyed by Luke telling Ahsoka that Anakin came back to the light before he passed. I NEED TO SEE IT. I NEED TO HEAR IT. the fanart of it is not enough. i want to see that conversation.. i need to have my heart pulled out by it and chopped into a million pieces. please!! 😭😭😭

the whole Mando-Ahsoka dynamic is amazing. i love them.

I LOVE how Rosario Dawson is using so much of animated Ahsoka's mannerisms, like in her movements, and the way she talks. she really is live action Ahsoka 😭😭😭 (regardless of what you think of her)

Mando deciding he's being selfish and he needs to let Grogu be, and decide for himself. oh my heart 😭

Luke's training montage with Grogu!!! OH MY FKIN GOD!! it made me ugly sob so much. the montage. exactly like with Yoda. AND HE EVEN MENTIONS YODA. aaaaaaaaaaa i cannot take this. *edit: EVEN YODA'S LIGHTSABER?! OMG!!! i did not know Luke had it. i have no idea how he has it. didn't Yoda lose that in the fight against Palpatine?! did he make a new one on Dagobah? did he somehow recover the old saber? it does look like his old saber. omg my heart.. and now it may be Grogu's new saber?!!! (tho i was kinda looking forward to a live action saber-building-through-the-force scene but oh well)

Grogu being adorable and learning to jump, and focus, and takes out the training droid. aaaahhh.

and um.. FILONI NEVER MISSES A CHANCE TO TRAUMATIZE US WITH DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF ORDER 66 DOES HE?!!! ohmygod i wanted to see that but i sooo DID NOT want to see that. poor baby. the trauma. aaahhh.. no wonder he blocked it out.. 😭😭😭💔💔💔

i still kinda wanna know how Grogu actually got out. who got him out?!

i'm sorry but Luke giving Grogu THE CHOICE is just mean.. he just barely begun his training, why are you doing this to him?!!! he is but a babe. do not do this! also, Luke, you should know better. making people choose is not a good thing about the Jedi. aaahhh

Cobb Vanth is back. i love him. he is great.

Madam Garsa and the beautiful Twi'leks are.. well.. 😭😭😭 should have seen it coming. it was too good to be true. they were too beautiful.

aaaand of coursee. Cad fkin Bane. OF COURSE. i knew he would appear. just didn't know on which side.. honestly, love it. i have a love/hate thing for Bane, he is super cool and slick and just an amazing character, but i also hate him cuz he's an asshole most of the time.

also i am not super in love with his live action looks..? like he's just.. so pale? something is missing. i think he should be darker blue. but oh well. the voice was top notch. the movements and the eyes and the everything was great. it's just the color i think.

*edit: that standoff between Cobb and Bane?! the western-style standoff and shootout?! omg it IS a space western! i love it so much, and i am not even a fan of westerns xD

anyway.. i am still a wreck after that one..

i am hopeful for the final episode, hoping they don't rush it with the "all out war" thing. hope they take their time.

i'm also 99% certain we get another season so we might actually not see the war next episode. maybe some scheming and preparations and then a big cliffhanger? not sure.

also i feel like we'll only find out Grogu's decision in Mando S3. which i am fine with.

*sigh.. this episode was a rollercoaster of emotions for me. excitement and fun mixed with a lot of pain and just love for this show, this galaxy, these characters..
