I love paintings of ordinary landscapes that have an intangible simplicity and purity. Looking at them takes me back to childhood, when everything seemed possible and freedom was a natural feeling. This series has been inspired by my travels and the nature photographs I took on the way.

These diaries, these landscapes, are much more than just pictures. They embody deep feelings and questions about myself—about why I did things this way, and if I did, how I might resolve the tensions I caused within myself. These are important moments, so difficult to bring to the surface with words, and when I can no longer repress them, they take shape in our world this way. They are diaries, they are landscapes.
