#JonButton of #TheWho and #SherylCrow sent us this photo from @officialthewho soundcheck from last years #teenagecancergigs at #TheRoyalAlbertHall festuring his trusted EBS OctaBass. He also shared his newfound love for EBS The Drive pedal, that you can use to boost or spice up your bass tone. Boo, Iām alive!
Well, the past few weeks have flown by, Iāve lost track of time and I know that this blogpost is overdue, again, apologies! A lot seems to have happened but Iāll get the sort of scary, not such great news out of the way firstā¦.
A few weeks after āthat operationā ā¦the pinning of my femur, Iām once again being invited to appointments here there and everywhere, most importantly the one where I re-established my relationship with oneās oncologist aka the lovely lady whoās main job is to now keep me alive!
During the impromptu appointment where I was first told that my cancer had spread I didnāt really get the full picture, I remember hearing the words āvarious bones across the bodyā but the main concern of that moment was my hip and spine. So anyway, during the planned appointment with my oncologist she had the unfortunate job of telling me that the cancer is in fact in the following bones: Hip, Spine, Ribs, Shoulder and Skull ā queue squeaky fucking bum time upon hearing the word Skull.
It all sounds quite scary doesnāt it, good job weāve got a plan in place then! Tomorrow Iāll be starting a chemotherapy tablet called Capecitabine and a monthly bone injection called Denosumab (this has been delayed until my Vitamin D levels are up, Iām quite deficient you see!). Also some radiotherapy here and there.
Capecitabine: http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/about-cancer/cancers-in-general/treatment/cancer-drugs/capecitabine
Denosumab: http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/about-cancer/cancers-in-general/treatment/cancer-drugs/denosumab
Side effects compared to my last lot of chemotherapy are minimal so if I compare this to how I managed those, I did climb The National Three Peaks, I know Iāll be just fine. These drugs allow me to go about my life as normal and guess what (my favourite part) ā NO HAIR LOSS, something I insisted couldnāt happen again, no no. Letās just really hope and pray these drugs work.
In other cancer news, Iāve experienced my first Paramedic visit. That horrendous pain I mentioned in my last blog post, the one where I get shooting pain that goes from my lower back into my legs, well that happened for about 48 hours straight. To be fair the Friday prior to this painful incident, I was literally having tequila poured into my mouth whilst throwing some questionable shapes on the dancefloor, to say I over did it 5 weeks after a major operation is an understatement. I actually thought, like Iād been told to look out for, my spinal cord was being compressed. It wasnāt (thankfully) and I was given some heavy duty painkillers that literally knocked me out for the whole week, I lost a week.
Since then, Iāve discussed this pain with my oncologist, who agreed I needed an MRI to investigate what the cancer in my spine might be up to. Low in behold though an MRI scanner is basically a massive magnet, I happened to have a magnet in my expander, inside my tit, that could be affected by the scanner and needed to come out. So on Tuesday of this week I had an operation to change my boobie expander to a silicone implant and on Wednesday I was at The Christies for my MRI. Recovering from Tuesdays operation is a walk in the park compared to previous opās Iāve had. Originally I wasnāt overjoyed at the prospect of having any more invasive treatment so soon after the hip and leg incident. Now Iām pleased though, it means we can find out whatās causing my pain faster and I should get the results of my MRI in the next few days.
I think that covers about everything, I suppose I should talk about how I'm feelingā¦ Well I feel just fine to be honest, Thanks! I'm not frightened, I'm not upset, Iām just me but Iām having to navigate through some slightly hairy situations. Iām fully aware how serious this is but balls to that, Iām not wasting my time crying or moaning about something thatās out of my control, what will be will be and Iām accepting of that. Ā So whilst weāre on the subjectā¦ Look at some of the fun things I have been up to:
I turned 25ā¦ We had a Mexican themed party, next years is going to be Mermaids, Iāve decided:
Courtesy of Teenage Cancer Trust I got to introduce āThe Whoā on stage at the Royal Albert Hall in London, thatās me with Roger Daltrey:
Iāll be blogging more frequently going forward so Iāll be posting soon to let you know how Iām getting on with my chemotherapy and my MRI Results. Have a great weekend everyone and donāt forget to check your boobs!

Possibly the highlight of the week was Noel Gallagher and his band the High Flying Birds which proved to be an absolute blast from start to finish. I had started to help shooting the meet n greets for the charity before the gigs and so when I heard that it might be possible to get Noel in a group shot alongside Roger Paltry, Russell Brand and Kelly Jones Iāll be the first to admit that a got more than a little excited! As these type of shots rarely ever come together as planned due to people being either in the toilets or the bar etc. I didnāt have my hopes up too high but when I suddenly got the nod followed shortly after by Noel and Russell then Roger and finally Kelly I was overjoyed. 16 frames was all I took but all that was needed too to capture a great relaxed group of guys very relaxed in each others company and an absolute inning shot that resulted in getting tweeted by both Noel and Russell the next day.
Noelās set was a heady mixture of his solo work, playing his very recently released second album aswell as some Oasis classics which went down a storm with the crowd that were on fire throughout the entire night. Even i couldnāt resist putting the cameras down for a couple of songs and join in with the anthems, sometimes the atmosphere is just too great to resist!
