Since my brain is rotten with Playboyy and yours is rotten with color, I have a question about their backpacks:

We have stablished that Zouey is a yellow yal, and First seems to be a blue boy (doesn't surprise me by his character description), but both Captain and Porsche's backpacks are black and I refuse to believe that those two are black brooders...

You think their are hiding their colors from us so we keep being suspicious of them or maybe is a way to visually distinguish the people the narrative (Nont) can already trust (Zouey and First) from the ones they shouldn't?

Maybe I'm just going insane waiting, that could also be...

I don't think Captain and Porsche are Black Brooders

I got a wild ass theory

The first episode focused on Zouey and First.

Yet the only one I feel confident about is Zouey being yellow.

First might be blue, but his colors were kinda wonky because he has the blue backpack yet was mostly in black, and next week he'll be in red.

We didn't get to see that much of Captain and Porsche, so I'm thinking with such a large cast, we are getting different perspectives from each of the characters for the first few episodes.

But in the first episode, Porsche wore blue and brown.

And Captain wore blue too.

Captain has a red phone. Porsche has a brown one.

And the drinks on the table were yellow, red, and brown.

My guesses based solely on the first episode: Porsche is brown, Captain is red (masquerading as blue for *reasons*), First is black, and Zouey is yellow. This is all subject to change since we only had one episode, and I think Captain's anger issues will show his true colors.

But that's not my wild ass theory.

My wild ass theory is Playboyy is Only Friends. Well, what I wanted it to be.

The writer for both shows, Den, already established that Playboyy is everything he couldn't do in Only Friends. You wrote about it as well, and I think you mentioned that Zouey and Teena were very Mew and Top shaped.

And before Only Friends started, I had A LOT of wild ass theories like:

Yes, I thought Top was a sex worker who Boston paid to "relieve" Mew of his virginity.

If Zouey, the virgin, is Mew and Teena, a former sex worker, is Top, could my wild ass theory have actually come too soon (hehe)?

This is why this theory is wild - Teena showed up in brown, and another person who wears brown seemed kinda pissed when Zouey called him a bad friend and told him his desire for all his friends to be as sexual as him is what pushed Nun(t) away.

And Porsche with his brown phone already paid someone else to have sex with Zouey.

So why wouldn't he do it again? Especially after Zouey said Porsche was the problem.

Because he was filming Zouey being manhandled.

And he held First back from trying to approach Teena.

He was also very pleased that Teena approached Zouey.

Brown denotes boredom, isolation, and loneliness, so . . .

You know what? Nevermind!

Playboyy EP1 - "Sex is about everyone"

this one is the shortest, we are at the end part of the ep:

but now onto the commentary: I appreciate Teena's patience with Zouy.

Zouy doesn't know he's dealing with another sex worker here, but his experience with Teena is so much different from the one with Jump. He gets to be comfortable, to set the pace, to choose what and what not, and I love that for him.

The forehead touches is going to be their thing and I'm weak already. AND THE POUT, I'M TIRED OF THIS MAN.

And the conversation after parallels a lot the one Top and Mew had over ice cream in OF, which I find to be one of the best scenes those two had. Is giving much needed communication, even tho the motives are hidden.

this man is already realizing he's falling for the nerd and that wasn't in his plan. I LOVE THEM.

See, Nont is already doing a better job than me because he's not getting distracted... for now. I truly don't thing Captain is the core of the problem here, Nont. Yeah, he might have pushed him to it but it wasn't alone and probably not to the depth Nant reached, honey.

Now to the Playboyys:

This is a red herring as well, but towards the romance plots. They are telling us that they are here for the money, for the fun. Come on, they are sex workers! But we have seem them this whole episode. Teena is falling for Zouy and he's realizing it. Soong is not there yet, but his plan is also falling down like a house of cards.

I'm intrigued to see how the stories play for the other two. We already have seen Jump and Porche interact and, although we haven't seeing it, things have happend. And we don't know if Aob and Puen have met yet... Playboyy, you did it, I'm hooked.

Playboyy Ep 1

OMFG I laughed so hard watching this episode!

Playboyy takes no prisoners, we had the most random things one can imagine in a BL series: a winter cap styled as a fashionable Western spy in the deep Soviet Union, a finger on the gun trigger, a work uniform, a SECOND work uniform of a certain sex worker, a Titanic/meme reference, Detective Conan, English and Japanese in the weirdest moments, The Brush™... ✨✨✨✨✨

Fashion is highly questionable here, I mean my eyes bled, but we did get some great tits so it evens out 😍

What I like is that they behave like young men full of hormones, without proper sex education, but educated on porn. They are like many young boys/men I have met - gross, annoying, still looking for their place in this world and doing stupid things, VERY focused on sex, in one word: quite real. I'm interested in how the sex workers will be portrayed later in the series, so far they are not being romanticized, which is good.

Overall - yes, I liked it! Although it wasn't quite what I expected or wanted (I thought it will be more... dark?). I laughed too much in this episode, there were too many scenes that were intentionally or accidentally funny for me to take this series seriously. But Playboyy has a lot of other advantages and good points, it's fun and enjoyable and I'm really looking forward to the next episodes. Also what I really liked was how virgin Zouey felt more like a real person and better written, complex character than virgin Mew.

How can I be normal about this show when I have the exact same blanket as Zouey and when Teena is so fine??????? :O

Almost one week into the first episode of Playboyy and I thought a lot about this and what came to my mind is :

I don’t feel the show is high heat from ep 1. Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t have the same definition of high heat than most people have. Obviously the show is sex centered as ep 1 had 13 scenes of sexual nature. For me, High heat is sulfurous and I didn’t get that from the first episode, a lot of the sex scenes were not different from the sex scenes we had in other BL who don’t have the +18 classification. We already had BJ, handjob, masturbation and body sucking being portrayed in BL and I thought they were done much better than what we saw in Playboyy. Once again, don’t get me wrong, I knew that we were not going to see private parts or the actors really doing it but I expected the actors going more at it and from what I have seen, it’s barely as if they touch each other and everything seems to be camera angle. I just take the show on how it was sold and honestly I don’t feel it’s more explicit than any other BL, it’s just the number of those type of scenes that is bigger. Personally, as of recent shows, I thought Naughty babe did a good job with their NC scenes, it was not awkward or cringe.

I didn’t see anybody mentioning it but when the characters are supposed to watch porn, it’s actually the actors that we see. When First is masturbating, he is watching a scene with someone wearing a latex headgear mask and the other one in the scene is Detch (who play Nont and Nant) making me believe the latex guy is Shell (who play Prom). Same thing happened later when First and Soong are watching a Pizza eating porn, it was actually them, Jack and Chat and it was the pizza eating on the body scene that was shared a lot on social media, with Jack having blond hair. At first when I saw the scene of the latex headgear mask, I thought First had video of Nant and Prom having sex and that it was going to be part of the plot. It kind of confirm me that the show is not going to be as high heat that we believe it’s going to be, because if the bunch of sex scenes we saw in the different trailer are actually porn scenes that the characters watch for 5 second, than it’s not going to be that high heat.

I can’t help but found similarities of the show with Only friends (I know that it’s the same writer), I feel like Only friends was the PG13 with a little bit of explicit version and Playboyy is the rated R. First remind me of Boston, Zouey and Teena of Mew and Top. First and Soong have similarities with Sand and Ray with the friends with benefits situation and First thinking he can buy everything with money like Ray. The similarities between the shows make me believe that the last scene of the Playboyy laughing because they found rich kids is going end up with « get a taste of your own medicine » so First is going to end up fooling Soong and Zouey is going to turn into Mew after he found out about the betrayal.

We have define pairing but I can’t help but wonder just like Only friends, everyone is going to mess with everyone. We already had Jump (who is paired with Porsche) and Zouey ( who is paired with Teena) who kind of had a scene together. I also wonder if the « I hope it’s not the same one » of Teena after Jump told him he had an art guy as a client, is going to come back later and it’s going to be an issue.

Playboyy Ep 3 Stray Thoughts

Last week, the Non/Nant plotline led us to a car wash that Porsche's family owns, and the especially rude sex worker works there now. Eventually, the twin located the Playboyy club and tried to seduce the manager who his brother was getting money from. The car wash sex worker was advertising his services online there, and Porsche cut that off, but not before having sex. Zouey did a whole sex thing with his dude involving paint that should never go in your mouth. First is ramping up his S&M play, and eventually painfully inserted a thermometer into ole boy. I forgot what Captain was doing. We left at First having a fight with his dad about his reckless behavior and then getting snatched, though that's also probably a sex thing.

Okay, as visceral as this feels, pretty sure it's still a sex thing.

Episode 3: Sacrificing Yourself

Playboyy Ep 5 Trash Watch Part 1

Have I done this for E1 - 4? No. But I don't think I can watch this show without making a post or it's a waste of an hour for me and as much as I want to watch this show I can't keep track of anything at all.

You know most of these actors remind me of Pat from Step by Step, especially the kids club. It's that same slack jawed, plump lips expression.

Wait wait wait this whole thing started because of a comment? A play? A dare? Dude what are guys doing out in the world. We need to keep all the boys under lock and key to make sure they don't hurt themselves.

Nuthyim is the username. The lead character is Nont, twin - Nant. You see the confusion.

Wait I thought this was about hitting on someone to get experience for a play, how did it end up in a red light scene with hoods over their heads??? Keep the boys home.

Why does Nant look like he is scamming people when asking for money?? Why doesn't he ask his dad?? Nont?? They are more likely to give money for mom. Unless it's not for mom in that case Nont being angry doesn't make sense. I feel like he didn't really have to do any of this. Even if it wasn't for mom, Asian families would do anything, anything to avoid a scandal. Okay, so while the characters might not get that the writer should. Otherwise it lacks logic as a story coz we are the audience, we have a birds eye view, it won't land for the audience.

So if Nont has revealed himself now, then what was the 'having sex with anything that moves'? Clearly not part of a plan to find his brother. It's the logic again. Not there.

I'm only 5 mins in and this looks more like a spectacle than a real examination of the story being told. I'm not new to crime dramas and I'm not new to sex worker protags so I know this is poorly written. Simple as that. Like the Soong kidnaps First opening. There for shock value only. This too.

Why didn't he tell them who the third guy is? I suppose since they already fought about Teena it's explainable. But like don't say three things and not show three things. It's incomplete. I'm having a Sheldon moment. Complete the sentence!

STOP SPEAKING ENGLISH. YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO SPEAK ENGLISH! I imagine this is how Italian, French, Spanish speakers feel when someone butchers the language. I couldn't even understand it without the subs. Reminds me of House and Sheldon speaking Hindi.

Also do you feel guilty or not boy? That's your friend who is missing. You do like him right? Did the writer just really love that line?

You know I don't care that it's unsexy, I don't care it's weird, I won't care about the horrible pacing. This show is stupid. And that's where I draw the line. I watch Cdramas, I know pacing issues but never have they turned me off so much.

They are all overdramatic about their relationships and I'm left asking - why do you care??? Why do any of you care??? You clearly are unemotional enough when it was Nant, why do you care about these boys??? Where is the logic??

Are they all Mary Sues? Coz I can't see any other reason for these guys to be so crazy over these kids.

This show could have used color coding clothes. or the pair's name starting with the same letter.

Is Zoey the Mew of this group??? He feels like the Mew of this group.

And that's what I mean that this show is confusing. I had no idea why Zoey was angry with Captain until his friend explained it. Stilted af. It's like someone wrote scenes and forgot the flow.

You know we've seen shows like these. Rich kids being shitty isn't new. Gossip Girl made that a thing long before anyone else. For something small town there is Pretty Little Liars. They did shit to each other all the time. But they made sense. I should clarify - they made sense for what we knew of the characters without losing the pacing.

Anyone else feeling a distinct urge to slap the car boy?

Playboyy EP1 - "Sex is about everyone"

okey, let's get it:

The fountain a la WAP really fits the show, ain't going to lie.

Something tells me that Zouy liked/likes Nant, idk why. Like, they are showing us that Zouy and Nant were pretty close and Nant was definetly a safe space for Zouy for everything, sex talk included. September 15th, 2022 - what was your wish, Zouy?

"Pacebook". I love this show, I swear. Now, the video is posted on the 18th although the video is from a year ago, but also: First's comment asking "where are you? are you coming to class?" was made 2 weeks ago. So... Nant went missing at the beginning of 3rd year.

as I said before, hilarious that Zouy and Jade share the same laptop, "Deadline is faster than Karma" is the true collegue/uni experience!

The parallels to OF are strong but I'm not going to go deep into it. A little tmi: I'm a virgin, I'm not ashame of it and never will be. On contrary to Zouy (and Mew) I'm lucky to have friends since my high school years that never cared neither pressured me into changing this about me. As everyone fuckin should. And that's the commentary both shows are doing on this. But we are going to focus on Playboyy here. Zouy pointing out that Porche, Captain and First being so on the nose about each others sex lifes is the reason Nant went missing, is a really valid point. This group probably met each other on 1st year, so at 18 years old. That's still an age were you can easily sucumb to pressure from your "friends" whom are just giving "friendly advice", while you are trying to "fit in". But it can get you into serious trouble. Porsche, Captain and First are finding out now that their "harmless" behaviour can lead to bad things happening to others only because these others (Nant and Zouy) wanna "fit in" with the group with them.

Feeling all those eyes on you, even if they are "friendly", is a heavy burden.

Now, the whole scene with Jump was highly amusing at the begining, but when it came the time to be Jump and Zouy to be alone, it was painful to watch for the same reason I just talked about but also gives us more insight on Zouy's relationship with sex: he's not ready to get physical yet but he still gets horny like the rest of the lads in this household (everyone is horny 24/7, I love them)

Zouy comments again how uncomfortable this makes him and I feel so sorry for him. I know the rest are just trying "to help" but they are not helping at all. Their behaviour got Nant into trouble in the first place and Zouy clearly doesn't wanna end like him as well...

Now, the demon @respectthepetty has teached us well about color and I wanna point out:

Also, lowkey introducing us to Keen. Captain gets so distracted side-eyeing him that he ends up bumping into Puen. And it adds another problem: the rich kids don't like the scholarship students.

Ep 3 review

Once again, for a sex centric show, it’s deeply unsexy and lacking of sex.

Once again, I felt scenes were cut and we had the next one without context because who had as an idea Soong and First fighting and saying they need time apart and the very next scene it’s Soong calling for First and reminiscent of their time together. At first, I thought the « baby » pet calling was for someone else and all this time he had another one on the side.

Episode 3 and there still isn’t a proper introduction to Playboyy. It’s litterally the title of the show and would explain everything a little bit better.

They need to stop with their last minute plot twist where the end is foreseeable. Ep 1 : I knew the Playboyy were going to taste their own medecine and actually fall for their prey. Ep 2 : I knew that it was a role play and a way to get money from the father and ep 3 : I am sure that Prom has absolutely nothing to do with Nant disappearance and that either doggo is not him or the scene we saw is a role play and Nant acted scared as part of the play.

Total disappearance of Jump and Porsche

I knew that Zouey and Teena were going to fall from grace, I didn’t think it was going to be this soon but then again, Teena decided he fell in love with Zouey in one episode. They were the pairing I was the most expecting but they have been disappointing. They are by far the pairing with the least intimacy. They barely kiss or touch. I wasn’t sure if it was the actors or the characters but it seems to be the latter after I saw ep 4 preview

Captain and Keen are promising (curious of the overlapping with Soong) but i am confused, the description said Captain was going to blackmail Keen when he actually showed to everyone on the team the video. So how is he going to blackmail ?

Ep 4 preview : it was not a joke when it was revealed that Playboyy is the « +18 » version of Only friends (even if I feel the sex scenes on Only friends were better than anything we saw currently in Playboyy) and Teena and Nont kissing and probably sleeping together is the Boston-Top storyline. It’s seeing the kiss that told me that the lack of intimacy from Zouey and Teena came from the characters because Teena never kissed Zouey the way he was kissing Nont. I am excited to see the consequences of Teena-Nont. Although I hope it would not be a copy/paste of Boston-Top-Mew storyline.

Someone need to start counting the kiss and the interactions between the characters and crown the king at the end. In Only friends, the King is Boston with 5 body count. My guess is that it’s going to be Dech (Nont-Nant) the winner because he would have the body count as Nant and the body count as Nont.

Playboyy ep 1 : Bad exposition, messiness and unsexy

Playboyy is a show that was on my waiting list and I thought it could really be a breaking point for Thai BL. However few days ago, I started to think what I was expecting from this show and the first thing that came to my mind was that I wish the sex scenes were going to be sexy. It’s not about being graphic or showing nudity, although from the teasers, we knew it was going to be the case. Sex scenes in BL are still not in the right place, most of them fade to black or the camera pan elsewhere. They also become more and more explicit as of lately but explicit doesn’t mean sexy. In contrary, most of the explicit sex scenes that are mainly aired on Thai BL are goofy, there are almost always close up on the ML face and it’s the most off putting facial expressions, the movements are exaggerated, they have music on the background that does not fit and the slow motion. I always felt like some sex scenes are similar to the ones in parodic movies and I always felt uncomfortable because sex scenes between two men always got censored because “nobody want to see that” which is so untrue. And the ones that got out came across as unsexy to me, mostly the men were groaning hard and going hard at it and basically doing too much. So I expected a lot from Playboyy but it seems that it’s following the same pattern that are currently seen in BL : goofiness.

Bad exposition and Messiness

The First episode is central to a show, it’s what introduced the characters, their motivation, the main plot which will be developed throughout the series. For Playboyy, if I hadn’t seen the descriptions of the characters and the show, I wouldn’t understand almost everything that was seen in ep 1. There are characters, some are named, others are not, some are rich kids, others are an escort, a pizza man and a nude model. We understand that the rich kids are a group of friends who are university students and one of them disappeared and has a twin brother that no one was aware of his existence and want to know the truth. We have a clear understanding that the series is going to center around sex but if I didn’t know the plot I would have thought that it was going to be Only Friends pt2 and that Zouey is the main character that is going to have his sexual awakening a la Mew and First is the hyper sexual, over bearing friend a la Boston with a little bit of Not me plot. I would have never guessed that it was going to be an investigation and infiltration in the sex work of Thailand.

What I would have done if I was the screenwriter

I would have centered the first episode on Nant disappearance : who he was, the reaction of his disappearance and his brother wanting to know the truth and finding out about Playboyy agency. I would of had Nont either revealing that he was his twin or pretend that he was Nant and tell to the group friends that they needed to infiltrate the Playboyy network as undercover and they would learn of former and current Playboyy workers with Zouey and First getting to close to former Playboyy (Teena and Soong) and the others of current Playboyy. Like that, you would get a full picture of the characters motivation and the plot of the show and meetings that make sense. What we got was too messy, coincidentally the rich kids are making out with Playboyy workers, without knowing anything about it. Or at least have Jump (the escort) tell his friends of the rich kids friend group that he met at Zouey birthday party and they decide to get close to them to rip them off because again coincidentally the Playboyy bunch are fooling the same group of friends without realising that they are all connected. I just can’t wrap my head around how Soong knew that he was supposed to please First when he is an actual pizza delivery guy and explained to First that he also deliver other services with a certain message after the BJ so how did they know. Same for Teena, he is a nude model for the art class, he sees a student get turned on and actually follow him in the bathroom to help him up. Nothing was natural about the way the characters met each other. I saw someone say that the two scenarios are regular porn plot, the delivery guy that end up having sex with the client and the nude model doing the same with someone that is painting him. It still don’t explain how it could translate in real life (for them).

I am not giving up on the show, it’s only the first episode and I am waiting to see more to have a concrete opinion but I feel it could be enjoyable if you put aside your brain and not think about the coherence but that’s the issue, the show was not sold as some sort of sex centric show with no plot, it was sold as a critic of the realities of sex work in Thailand. The first episode was just bad exposition, messiness and unsexy.

Oh, absolutely!

We absolutely are going to find parallels between Playboyy and OF. As mentioned before, P'Den wrote Playboyy AFTER Only Friends because GMMTV put limitations to what he could say and he couldn't. So is bound to be correlated somehow. Now... let's see:

SandRay storyline was pretty much a story about vice and addiction, that slowly turned from alcohol to love as the addicting substance. And Nuth and Phop are following the same path. He have a depressed creative whom has turned into illegitimate business to keep himself afloat (Nuth with drugs and Sand with home-made wine) and a consumer whom can't get enough (Phop and Ray). Is kind of the same text, but different font.

For TopMew, I was the one that said, during my foreplay analysis, that TeenaZouy are the TopMew of Playboyy.

Teena is a textbook "top-tier" type of guy, if we follow the OF text book. Although he might be lacking the money, we don't know how much he has saved from his working days at Playboyy (Aob mentioned he earns 10k a month as the best host), Teena is a charming young man with a great physic. He himself during that video went about the many things he has to go through to maintain this image. He wants go be "top-tier".

On the other hand, we have Zouy: much younger (about 6 years), shy but blunt, and also, just like Mew, a virgin.

But their interest on each other rises different from where TopMew's did. Top wanted "a change of scenery" when he firstly approached Mew, and Mew wanted "the perfect boyfriend" from Top.

Teena has being desire and used for his body YEARS, he's being wanted in one specific way for what I'm going to assume is almost a decade (8-9 years). So he's obviously heading head first towards Zouy, whom views both the human body and sex as pure beauty, he's fascinated by it, even tho he has never participated in the later.

Teena is being desire by somebody, yet again, but this time is different. Zouy looks at him like he looks at art, like a greek statue that has come to life.

And Zouy, whom sees himself as someone small and not really important, whom cannot see himself as beautiful, is getting the attention of what is, for him, the most beautiful man he has ever seeing.

Again, the "archetype" TeenaZouy follow is TopMew, their love story is just different.

Now, is there BostonNick?

No but kind of yes. As far as we know, none of the couples mirrors BostonNick, WHOEVER we have a character that slightly follows Boston: Prom.

Prom is the eldest son of a "really influential man", that's why he has to keep his work at Playboyy a secret (he mentions the use of a mask in the foreplay video).

Prom, like every character in Playboyy, likes sex, but he likes an specific type of sex (bdsm), and that, combined with his sex work, could paint a really grime picture to his father's image. Sounds familiar?

You could say the same for First with his own important mother, but it feels much different.

Now, for Nick... I can't truly find him. If we follow the "recording path" story wise of Nick, then is definitely Captain and his little clip with Keen. But personality wise? None really seems to be Nick.

PLAYBOYY has uploaded today a bunch of character introductions but they say the same as the OG ones, therefore they align with how I introduced them in my guide here.

The only add-on I've found is that Nuth and Phop's relationship reaches a level in which Phop is more addicted to Nuth than to drugs. But that's about it.
