initially philza is Constantly trying to not so subtly get ranboo n techno to Bond. theyre both anxious and Tentative to establish Anything close to friendship and philza isnt having it

it doesnt really. work. because philza’s idea of ‘bonding’ is either intense brawls or going to cause chaos together

“ey techno. ranboo. i saw a village way over the mountains in the biome over. why dont you guys like... go and destroy them and scavenge what you can :)’

technically it EVENTUALLY works. mostly because they get distracted by a fox and get lost one day

one day ranboo accidentally calls phil ‘dad’ and he’s mortified. technoblade has to excuse himself because he doesnt want ranboo to see him cry from laughing so hard

phil is honored. and feeling a little guilty :)

ranboo goes looking for some tools at phil’s request as they build his house together. he ends up opening technoblade’s Valuables Chest

phil comes running after hearing crashing. finds that techno had instinctively charged at him like a boar and ranboo screeched and launched himself up on the ceiling beams. he’s hissing like a cat stuck in a tube TV

technoblade is mortified after and vanishes. phil has to explain that it was the piglin instinct because ranboo is still ‘new’ so he instinctively saw it as an intruder going through his belongings

ranboo feels kinda dejected (theyd been getting along, he thought) despite philza ensuring time and time again that it was Only Instinct.

technoblade comes back late that night but doesnt say where he’s been

phil already knows he was venting to carl 

he’s Extremely tempted to just pretend it didnt happen but like. the voices are angry at techno even at the Idea of that so he actually. goes to ranboo to apologize

“hey..... ranboo.” “a-ah. hi.” “so.... you remember today right?” Ranboo, very awkwardly closing his memory book. “...... whats today?” “youre a horrible liar”

it ends more like... technoblade ends up opening up for the first time. more about being inhuman. with rambling and stiff hand gestures and constantly darting from topic to topic without much connection. but ranboo gets it

they end up staying up Really late either just in silence or talking about Not Being Human. 

techno’s never had the chance to talk about this with anyone beyond phil, but as much as phil cares he cant relate so much

late nights just hanging out and talking become somewhat Regular.

sometimes brewing potions together, sometimes when phil insists they need to try and organize their belongings better.

about a week later, ranboo goes looking for... something. he lost something but cant remember really

he opens that same chest and freezes. techno is standing right there, staring at him

technoblade just laughs

whenever ranboo forgets something, phil and techno usually are able to remind him. he feels less scrambled with the support

technoblade’s reputation as something to be feared his a Crutch to him. 

he overthinks every conversation and panics in groups or when on the spot. even when with one other person. he falls into the comfort of being unapproachable and Looming over people so they cant see his anxiety

for some fucking reason ranboo could Never clue on on the Looming, Intimidating vibes techno would try and put out. 

technoblade doesnt get it. phil says maybe its because ranboo Trusts Him and sees beyond him being something Terrifying

technoblade panics like ‘oh god phil what if i say something dumb’ and phil just holds his head in his hands

ranboo has a tendency to echo what people say. he tries to quell it because people get annoyed. but one time, techno makes a Really Bad attempt at replicating a noise edward made and ranboo instantly echoed it back

phil comes in hours later and theyre both just. echoing this Weird Meaningless noise back and forth to each other. edward looks pained

ranboo plans to go get his pets. he’s been planning it all day. constantly saying ‘well i need to go get my pets now...’ and then just. not leaving

at first phil just thinks he keeps forgetting and lets him be. but then he sees him fidgeting, the crackled noises under his breath, the way he keeps clenching and unclenching his fits

phil offers to help him out. he wasnt doing much anyways. ranboo sighs in relief

when they get to ranboo’s old panic room, phil watches how he keeps trying to look away from it. cant even seem to go near it. he’s talking to himself something phil can’t make out

phil frowns, but just says ‘we shouldnt waste obsidian right mate?”

ranboo almost cries in relief when phil takes it all down. philza doesnt mention it or the signs (yet) but offers a Fatherly pat on the shoulder

he’s nearly knocked off balance when ranboo lunges out and hugs him
